It has been a long long time since I last posted... And yes, I am still alive and well. Don't worry.

Much has happened since the last time I posted, which was the last time I left university.. Throughout the approximately 3 half months, I have indeed done a lot, from travelling REALLY extensively to meeting friends to changes in family assets (LOL) to having appreciated life for what it provides each new day. Oh and did i not mention, one of the highlights was seeing the 9 angels face to face, something which i have been dreaming of for the entire past 2 years.

Lol happy.. :-)

Now, as the New Year of 2012 starts, I wanna wish everyone a real Happy New Year, and also to all my fellow Chinese readers, in conjunction with the upcoming Chinese New Year, I wish all of you GONG XI FA CHAI!!! Year year got fish, dragon horse sperm god, and all the blessing wishes that each and everyone of you may have a blessed and joyful year ahead.

I will post more on my happenings when i do actually have the time. Sorry for the delay..

Till then, may everyone (I included) have a wonderful year of 2012 and encounter God throughout your entire year's journey of life. For me, the Lord has been present in my life and many times i encountered his blessings and divine protection upon me and my family. Looking forward to a continuously happy and successful year ahead.

Oh also a shoutout to all my friends, whether or not from my university. Take care and all the best for your jobs, careers, studies and all other undertakings (especially those of you currently residing or extensively travelling overseas). Please do keep in touch even though the distances is great. Whether you are in Japan ke, US ke, UK ke, EU ke, S. Korea ke, or travelling btw many countries etc etc... (Tau tau la.. :-) ) Got internet one.. So no excuse to lose contact. Lol..

The Finale Of Uni Life

The title pretty much explains the post. As i have again completed another phase in life, university education, i do look forward to what life will bring me next. However, there is definitely a certain reminiscence on all that i been through in the place people call the 'jungle' or the 'desert-in-the-middle-of-nowhere' throughout the past 5 years of study..

Browsing thru on the university's whereabouts, there is a sense of nostalgia and that i will definitely miss this place, although throughout studying here i have been wishing to get the hell out of the university for good.
But when it really is happening, there is a sense that i miss it and wanna go back to the uni days, starting from the days we attended classes like good kids, only to realise that the room is a better place 2 be than the lecture halls, the times when the whole 20+ of us walk to the mamak restaurant outside @ nite, to the times when everyone has a car and travelling to Ipoh is like super normal...

Anyway, here are the places that hold significance throughout my studies here..

1. My room..

It's a nice place actually, just that i took this pic after clearing everything. I initially have an extra mattress, 2 pillows, bolster, blanket, 3 beautiful posters on the wall and my study table is filled with stuff.. With curtains closed, it's very nice for sleeping..

2. Village 5 cafe..

Now i do admit i RARELY go to this place coz i usually eat outside (ahh the benefits of having a car..:-) ), but this cafe has a nice ambiance and is usually during meetings i come here..

3. The pathway i take everytime i attend classes..

4. Block 17 of the academic complex..

This is where i went for classes (some of them), tutorials, labs, and most importantly, mainly where i spent my time for my FYP... (Whewww.. Finally..)

5. The Chancellor Complex...

They say it's famous... Anyway, this is the building that houses the Chancellor Hall (which i will be receiving my scroll at) and the Information Resource Centre (it's just a fancy name for a library)..

6. The UTP Mosque..

This is one of the nicest mosque i have ever seen honestly, and as what i heard, the cost of building it is very high, since there are a lot of imported stuff.. Have never been inside it before though... Sigh..

7. UTP entrance...

The security post is very nicely constructed and i would say one of the best compared to the other unis i went before...

And this is the big overhead bridge that indicates that one has arrived at UTP...

Although i have been frustrated at the university many times, this place still holds a lot of memories and i do hope that i will be able to return again with my friends to revisit these places..

Till then, all the best to all my batchmates who graduate together with me, or have graduated earlier.. Hope to have a gathering sometime and catch up... Take care, wherever you all are, and keep in touch..

Singapore Sept 2011

Had a short trip to Singapore.. A fun trip it was... And kinda random...

Due to time constraints, i had only approximately 3 hours to tour Singapore.. Therefore, me and Dong decided to head to the newest place in Singapore, the only tourist attraction i had not been yet...

MARINA BAY SANDS!!!

And since the F1 race is approaching, it would be nice to also see the 'track' firsthand..

Anyway, initially i started on my own at Jurong Point, which is the shopping mall at the Boon Lay MRT and bus interchange. I spent about 2 hrs there which means i practically walked through the entire mall.

And i had Macdonalds for lunch.. Don't ask me why, its a long story.. I could not believe i went all the way there to have Mcd as well.. Anyway, it is well priced until when one starts to convert the currency back to Malaysian Ringgit..

Lol printed in Malaysia.. Haha...

Also, when i tried to find albums of SNSD, i realise they are all either printed in China/Taiwan, or in Malaysia.. Kinda disappointed as i really hoped to get a number of the albums if they are imported straight from Korea and Japan..

After that, in the afternoon I met up with Dong. He is basically the best friend anyone could get. He waited for me to go walk around City Hall area.. While he waited, he did a lot of research and basically was my tour guide throughout the afternoon...

We stopped at City Hall MRT station and went walking around the Esplanade.

Beautiful views of Marina Bay Sands can be seen from the rooftop of Esplanade, as well as the Fullerton Hotel as well as the Merlion.. Other towering buildings penetrating the Singapore skyline can be seen clearly from here. However, i do admit that the surprisingly bad haze did disrupt the view a little.

At the Esplanade, there was a symphony orchestra concert going on but unfortunately we did not have the time.. Next time perhaps..

As we walk towards the Marina Bay Sands, it started to drizzle a little but was still okay..

Marina Bay Sands, in my opinion is the epitome of Singapore's wealth. It's like the 'Dubai' one often sees in pictures, where the buildings are elaborately designed with huge spaces and famous brands to bring luxury to those who can afford it, and to mildly tease those who cant..

Some parts of the road have already been prepped up to host the upcoming Singapore F1 Grand Prix..

Lighting is super bright especially when in the night. Too bad i did not take pictures then..

Supercars are a common sight in Singapore as well.. In the span of a day i saw Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsche (such as the Cayman below), Audis, Mercs, BMWs and many more.. It's like the home of supercars..

And their premium taxis are using Chrysler 300s...

Anyway, after all the walking, i had a simple dinner at Orchard Road's ION mall, at a place called the Food Opera..

Anyway, it was a short but fun trip.. Thanks a million to Dong for all the planning and patience with me.. Lol...

Wow it's been super long since i last updated...
Anyway, lots have happened since then, most importantly,

I have graduated....

Ok that's better..

Lol finally after 5 years i am done with university..
Now it is time to move on to the next phase in life, becoming a jobless graduate..
Let's see what God has put in place for me.. Hoping for the best..

Kuching (July 2011) - Food Hotspots

Kuching is super famous for it's food.. Although i did not have the time to try all of them, and since some i tried last time so here are some new but famous ones, recommended by Zhi, Zhi's aunt, Jping and Charles..

Ais Kacang
The first one is at Pending Seafood Centre near the Pending Industrial area.. It is an unassuming shop at the centre but it's Ice Kacang is superb..

The shop, a corner lot where usually people who work at the industrial area come here for lunch or meals..

Next is the stall near the Kuching stadium.. It is called Ah Tan..

Here they serve a variety (creative ones) of ais kacang and other drinks.. I like the Peppermint + Milo one.. Not so strong peppermint mixed with Milo powder makes it superb..

Peppermint with Nata de Coco + Milo powder + all the other ais kacang ingredients = Explosive deliciousness

Most of the ice kacang there are nice but i could not remember the flavour names.. Have to ask Zhi to be sure..

Kolo Mee
I did not try a lot of this.. In fact i tried only once since i had a lot the last time i came here.. So.... The one i had was not really nice but it has pork intestines.. It is at the hawker area near the One Jaya shopping mall.

Sarawak Laksa
This is the highlight of my food..

The first day i did not take any picture but it was superb.. The stall is at King's Centre area, but i cant remember the exact stall.. It is manned by a Chinese guy and the soup is superbly extremely delicious..
The ones i took picture of are the 2 famous ones at Choon Hui cafe and Chong Choon cafe.

The Choon Hui cafe is located at Ban Hock road, opposite Grand Continental hotel..
It's famed Laksa Sarawak..

Aside from that' it's Teh C Peng is nice as well..

Chong Choon cafe:
Honestly this is my favourite.. The coconut milk in the soup along with the lime makes it mouth-wateringly delicious.. One is able to find similarities to the normal curry noodles commonly sold in the Peninsular..
Located along Abell road, this shop is a corner lot and is quite easy to spot.. This cafe has even it's own Facebook fanpage and this testifies to it's popularity..

Teh C Peng (Multiple [usually 3] Layer Tea)
The same place (Chong Choon) is also famous for it's supersized Teh C Peng.. Normal taste but super big..

I have tried the Teh C Peng at other places but they are normal ones.. So this is a drink popular in Sarawak which can be tried at most cafes and restaurants...

Met Ta Hong
This is a sweet desert which stall is quite popular.. At the Hui Sing Hawker Centre at Hui Sing garden, this is also worth a try..

So there you go, a brief outline on my food adventure..
Also to note that thanks to Zhi's family especially his mom i have tried a lot of nice home cooked food, including 'Bak Zhang' and vegetables such as 'Paku Pakis'.. Very appreciative of them..

Kuching (July 2011) - Visitation..

My previous mid semester break was spent in Kuching.. After travelling by car, bus, train and airplane, i finally reached the cat city..

Although this is my 3rd time in 5 yrs i went to the city-where-cats-rule, there's still a lot of places to visit.
I will blog about the places i visit first, then the next post will be on the food..

Firstly, the Muara Tebas temple, or what the Chinese call the Ching San Yen temple, or the Green Hill temple.

There are 2 lions guarding the temple entrance. The one on the left is a female, and the one on the right is a male. You can differentiate it through the thing below it's front leg. The female is stepping on a cub, and the male steps on a ball.

The beautiful view of the South China Sea from the temple.. It is said that whenever fishermen or sailors reach the river mouth from the sea they give thanks to the temple before going to the port just further into the river.

The next place i visited was the 'Tua Pek Kong' temple, which is located opposite the Kuching Waterfront.
Said to be the oldest Chinese temple in Kuching..

It is said that this means the fishes wanted to jump over the arch coz upon hopping over, they will turn into dragons..

This is a very nice place to visit: The Kuching Chinese Museum.. I dunno why 'someome; insisted that visiting this place is a waste of time and is boring.. This museum is 'The Place' especially for Chinese as we can relate to the history of Chinese settlers in Sarawak, the different denominations of the Chinese people and Chinese cultures.. The entrance is free and it runs on donations by visitors and also other generous people..

This is the common boat that people from mainland China use to travel to the Malayan states then.. It is called the 'Fish Eye Boat'..

The 2 denominations that Yours Truly originated from, Cantonese and Hokkien..

Other than that, it's a walk along the Kuching Waterfront and it has changed since the last time i came.. Renovations have been done to make it a very nice place to walk.. It has views of the Astana and the new Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN).

A short walk later, we come to the old jail cell during the Charles Brooke times.. Now it is used for visitations but we did not enter..

Following that, a game of Laser Tag with the group.. It was tiring but fun.. Should try it again sometime..

We returned to the Waterfront at night to take some night shots of the Kuching, including the Astana and the DUN...

With the famous animal which this city is named after.. It was declared as a city in 1st August 1988, apparently the same date Jian Ping was born.. :-) (Sorry ah Jping use ur name here)..

Night shots of the Dewan Undangan Negeri.. This was quite a difficult shot as the building was far and the shutter was open a long time.. Therefore, had to find a very stable but high enough place to shoot this pic..

Also, thanks to Zhi's aunt, we were able to visit the Kelab Golf Sarawak (KGS).. The scenery is nice and i just realised that i can enjoy the facilities there since Clearwater Santuary Golf Resort is it's reciprocal club and the membership privileges can be extended there as well..

Another place to visit to buy food back is the Kek Lapis Dayang Salhah store.. Located at Kampung Gersik opposite the riverside, this place has been popular among locals and foreigners alike.. Celebrities including Siti Nurhaliza, Adibah Amin and a few more have even visited this place.. There are a huge variety of layer cakes to be tried and one can sample all of them..

Post Field Trip Visit

After our field trip, the four of us decided to take upon the advice given by the factory owner, Mr Chuah to try a seafood restaurant nearby, by the name of Restoran Tepi Sungai (Riverside Restaurant)..

It is not really difficult to search for the place. Just ask any locals and they will point you to the right direction. It is really at the riverside, and it is on the first floor. The ground floor is where the fishermen dock and unload their catch from their boats, so i figured the seafood there should be fresh as hell..

As we waited for our food, i went round the restaurant to see the live seafood there..

Their 'lai liu ha' (I dunno the english term for this prawn) is FREAKING big.. Like 15cm long kinda big..

Anyway, our dishes include:

'Kangkung' fried with 'sambal belacan'

Fried baby octopuses

Curry fish body

The curry fish one freaking nice.. I cant remember the full name d but it is something like assam curry or something likedat.. Tastes a bit 'assam-ish'...

Anyway, we did not order much as we were saving our stomachs for the 2nd lunch..

The view of the mangrove is beautiful from the restaurant and as we were near the sea, this was a good place for boats to 'park' as they can head out to sea easily..

After the meal, we headed back south, using the old road to view the scenery and with the intention to make a detour towards Grik..

About 20 minutes from Kuala Kangsar, we arrived at this isolated (in the middle of nowhere) restaurant by the name of 'Tasek Raban'. It is literally named after the lake somewhere behind it.. The restaurant is super famous for its 'Ikan Bakar'.. Apparently the fish served here is caught fresh from that particular lake.

I got to know this place previously through my few visits to the Pengkalan Hulu and the Thai border, and recommendations from friends of my parents.. A lot of government officials and super rich people (a lot of nice cars there) love to either come all the way of stop by this restaurant on the way to or back from Grik or perhaps Kelantan. Why? Coz the fish is super freaking delicious. The fish should be dipped in the sauce which comes with it.
Aside from the 'ikan bakar', the place is famous for 'tempoyak' as well but we did not try it.

1 fish shared by the 4 of us.. Kinda swt but to be honest i was not really hungry at that time..

After the short stop, we turned back and headed towards the royal town of Kuala Kangsar.

Once there, we stopped at the famous roundabout, and took pics..

After fooling around a while, we headed to the gallery of the current Perak Sultan, Sultan Azlan Shah..

As you can see the main building is majestic and this does not include his 2 other galleries for storing gifts from others and his vehicle gallery.. The main building basically tells his story from where he was educated to all his hobbies etc.. No pictures are allowed inside so that's all i can show you all only..

We also stopped at the mosque and just took a look from outside.. It was freaking huge..

Following that, we took a tour around to the Sultan's palace and also taken a look outside the current Perak Royal Museum, which was unfortunately closed for renovation. This was the building that students studied in history where it was built without using a single steel nail.

After that, we left back for the university as it was starting to get late.. It was tiring but fun and for half a day to travel so much is pretty much exhausting. However, we made it a point not to rush for time, which was good.

Therefore, now is the start of another semester and i will be super free since we only have 6 hours of class per week.. I am predicting i'll be covering a lot more places in the next few months..

Kuala Sepetang Charcoal Factory, Taiping Visit

Well.. Since i still have the time as my semester will start only tomorrow, i have the time to post another update..

Previous semester, our Alternative Energy class of about 30 plus students had the privilege to go on a field trip to Kuala Sepetang's charcoal producing factory. For me basically, this is a trip down memory lane since i have been here on a WWF organized trip back in the year 2000. Long time...........

I think this is a place that many have visited, since the owner of the place is so nice to open it to the public.

Anyway, the owner was super delighted that a the university belonging to Malaysia's national oil and gas company was visiting his factory and he was a superb host, preparing well beforehand and explaining everything to us properly.

For this trip, Jming, Peow, Aaron and me took the liberty to drive up there by ourselves so that we can ~~escape after the visit to go on a roadtrip~~ arrive earlier to learn more about the factory. The owner, Mr Chuah was nice to bring us on a pre-tour and chatted well with us. His 'sidekick', who was the factory's residential ice cream seller (sorry i din get his name) was very nice to explain a lot to us as well, both in Mandarin and Hokkien. (my hokkien still boleh pakai le, although not so good)..

So, i'll bring you on a rough trip using pictures:

Note: Before i start, i should note that the factory has been operating about 70 years already and they are very experienced in their jobs.. The trees are harvested only when they reach the age of 30. This is to ensure the trunks are of appropriate size and quality.

So here we go:

Firstly, the mangrove trees are harvested in the forest and the trunks transported to boats in makeshift 'wheelbarrows' as such:

The boats then make their way down to the charcoal factory. The arrival times of the boats depends on the tide actually. If the tide is low on that day, the boat will not be able to enter. Based on experience they know when the tide is high and low so they are able to time the deliveries.

A rough idea on the high tide of the river entrance. This entrance was man made to allow boats to come right up the side of the factory.

Then, the tree trunks are unloaded and placed alongside the river bank to be stripped of their bark to ease the drying process.

After they have been stripped of their bark, the tree trunks are arranged, ready to be placed in the kilns for the charcoal making process.

The kilns i was talking about. They are made of bricks and mud..

The entrance of the kilns, which is large enough to even fit Jin Ming..

Once a kiln is ready (as in the previous batch is out), the tree trunks are then fitted inside. They are placed vertically, on top of bricks to allow water to drain away from the trees to the ground.

The bricks are placed below the trunks in the kiln, as shown..

Once all the trunks are fitted inside, the pyrolysis process is started. In simple terms, the wood is dried at elevated temperatures with the absence of oxygen. The entire process takes about a month, if i am not mistaken. (I am not really sure about the exact number of days for each process already.. Sorry..)

The trunks are then dried through the burning of trees (as fuel) at the entrance of the kiln.

This is done for a number of days, and the kiln is then sealed to continue to bake the wood. It will cool down slowly.

Inside, the mangrove tree trunks will undergo thermochemical decomposition to produce what we know as charcoal. Water will be expelled from the trunks and other certain organic materials will be removed as well. Some of the water will flow out at the bottom, but most of the water + 'impurities' will come out as steam, from an outlet at the right side of the kiln. Once out, most of the steam will condense and flow down to a storage bucket. This is considered to be a by-product of the process.

Apparently, this product is sold to be a relief for injuries which one applies on the skin and one even can drink it to heal internal injuries.. (Dunno how true is that. I dare not try)..

Anyway, after the process, the tree trunks which are now charcoal are carried out of the kiln onto a lorry to be transported out.

The final product, charcoal. The one coming out from the kiln is actually about the same size as it went in. The one i was holding was just a small sample.

The charcoal loaded onto the lorry. Through this you can have a rough idea on the charcoal piece size.

After we toured around the factory and listened to the explanation, we were done. A few of us stayed behind to chat with Mr Chuah and have a couple more pictures taken.

It is a good memory to be able to be on this field trip. Our lecturer, Dr Shaharin did a great job organizing this one. It is not always that the Mechanical Engineering students can go on a field trip so we are very happy already.. :-)

Had a wonderful gathering @ Jming's hse in Malacca.. Dunno been there how many times d..

Anyway, I jz went there for like 24 hrs den come bec d. So i'll let pics do the talking..

Since we went there for barbecue, the pit is set up quite early..

Jming teaching us how to wrap the fish in aluminium foil (Jason Anderson kinda doubting Jming's skills)..

Next, Polar and Zhi take over..

We went in to play some games after that.. Then, after much talking n games, we retired for the night..

The next day some of us went to Jonker Street for chicken rice as breakfast after sending Chin Leong off to the bus station. As it was nearing Wesak day there were many people parading there.. Nice sight.. Too bad i forgot to bring my camera there.. Otherwise it'll be nice.. Talked lots of crap there..

In the afternoon, Jason Puan accompanied me for lunch and walking around Mines Shopping centre..
It was 10 yrs since i last came here.. So it was new to me except the so called waterway in the middle of the shopping centre which was here since like the beginning..

All in all it was a short trip but worth it.. Long time din c so many of my frens d especially those who have started work..

BTW, to all who plan to take KTM's ETS, rmb to bring your student card. You'll enjoy a RM5 discount. I regretted not bringing.

Till then, i will blog about my uni field trip aka Kuala Kangsar tour when i have time, since that is quite long..

Roadtrip to Langkawi Part 2

Continuing on the trip to Langkawi,

Our second day in the island was pretty much a relaxing day as well..

Started the day with breakfast at a RTV cafe.. -_-""..

Our first stop of the day was the cable car and the super long bridge thingy visit..

Yup that's Aaron right there..

As you can see, the ascend is pretty steep..

We stopped at the Middle station for sightseeing..

Peow looking at ~~girls~~ the beautiful scenery around the hill..

That is the top station.. Nice structure.. Like an alien building with 2 satellites at each side to connect to the mother planet

Oh yeah.. And i did that without having to climb like crazy..

Upon getting back down to sea level, we ~~looked at ducks~~ planned for the next itinerary.

Anyway, we visited the beach where the sand is apparently black.. This is because a long time ago there was a war between the land kingdom and the underwater kingdom.. Long story short, the land people burnt firewood at the beach to scare away sea people..

Later in the afternoon, the rest of the guys decided to chill at the hotel, leaving me alone to visit the Underwater World Langkawi..

"Yo follow me sir.. I'll lead you to a visit you'll never forget"..

One thing that really interests me is this: The Sub antarctic section. The last time i came i was still quite the small kid and this section was not constructed yet..

Honestly i spent like nearly 40 minutes to capture these 3 animals as the glass casing was really in the way, reflecting light and the room was seriously dark to get nice shots..

Following that, dinner and another photoshoot session at the Eagle square at night..

And that was the end to another long day..

The third and last day, before we leave the island, we took another chance for a photography session.. (I know got a lot photography session.. I need to train my photography skills)..

Oh and i lost my sandals.. Some idiot had the liberty to steal my sandals away the night before.. Had to walk barefooted to a nearby stall (thankfully one opened so early in the morning) to get a new pair..

Anyway, we made it to the beach..

After that, it was Goodbye Langkawi..

Upon reaching Alor Star, we stopped for lunch, and at the Alor Star tower. Unfortunately it was under renovation so we jz took pics outside..

After that, we took a slow ride back to UTP..

Our nice ending was marred by an accident just after Juru toll.. It took us nearly 2 hrs to travel the 1.5km..

Smartass drivers hogging the emergency lane up to a point where emergency vehicles could not pass..

Tsk tsk tsk,, Malaysian mentality..

Anyway, a normal 3 hr journey took us about 5 hrs plus..

Our dinner before going back to UTP, Sun Marpoh restaurant in Ipoh. They have been asking for nice restaurants so this was what i recommended.

Did not take pics of the food.. Forgot to.. Anyway, the food there is nice and i recommend to all who r interested. Just try not to go on a weekend night as the place will be super crowded..

That was the end of an interesting weekend. Will blog more about my field trip and other trips when i have the time..

Roadtrip to Langkawi Part 1

I apologize.. It has indeed been a long time.. I was busy with lots of stuff. I know it's a lame excuse but its ok.

Anyway, the past month was hectic with me being outstation each weekend. One of the trips was to Langkawi..

I was kinda looking forward to this trip as it was a long time since i been on a trip with my coursemates.. I usually had to pass previous opportunities due to other commitments.

It was one beautiful summer day when......

Initially i thought of sleeping well the night before as our plan was to leave in the afternoon, take a slow drive up with many stops on the way till around 5am the next morning and then take the earliest ferry over.

But i did not..

Thanks to the career fair that was going on, i had to prepare 4 interviews and stuff, in the end i slept for about 6 hours only. Bad move considering the next 24 hrs will be spent awake and active..

Have not taken PLUS's ticket for a long time.. Too used to SmartTag d..

Anyway, our first stop, Taiping.. It's all kinda little deja vu since it's quite a while i had not visited the town. Little did i know within the next 4 days i will have to travel up to Larut Matang for a field trip..

We visited the beautiful Lake Gardens and had our 1st dinner at a food court next to it..

I ordered the prawn noodles and although i did not expect it, it was actually quite good..

After eating and touring around Lake Gardens, we moved on to Nibong Tebal, using the trunk road instead of the highway to ~~save toll money~~ enjoy the scenery along the road..

Here we went to a restaurant i frequent during my trips back North.. Law Chang Kee...

They are good for their steamed octopus.. We also took a dish of small frogs and clams..

With our stomachs more than half filled, we moved on north.. This time we headed to the island of Penang..

Since we arrived there a little early, we decided to have our 1st supper at Gurney Drive and then catch a midnight movie at Gurney Plaza.. The fried chicken skin was very delicious.. Sinfully delicious in fact..

Note: Gurney Plaza has lifts that work. Although it's hard to locate them, it's much better than having to climb 7 storeys to get to the movie theater..

After the movie, we realised that Northam court was already closed. So we went to a roadside restaurant to have somewhere along the main road near the Tune hotel to have our second supper. Food was ok..

It was about 3.30am when we decided to head up to our destination: Kuala Kedah Jetty.. We took a slow ride and when we entered Alor Star, i think i blacked out due to tiredness..

So, after somehow boarding the ferry half asleep, i woke up to find that we were already approaching the island of Langkawi..

After getting our car, we checked into our hotel. And continued sleeping till noon..

To be honest, i absolutely HATED the car... The Proton Iswara was in such a bad shape the air conditioning was spewing hot air, the exhaust muffler was replaced with a pipe so it sounds like a F1 car miles away even going at 60 and when the owner says only the engine and aircond is important, he is serious. nothing else works in the car.. NOTHING.. Heck, this car was in such a bad condition i am confident if Jeremy Clarkson were to drive it, he would have driven it 20 seconds max before blowing the freaking thing up to eternity..

So, after the exhaust smoke started entering the car, we traded in for another of the same model.

This was seriously way better..

Now, with that over, we went to visit the eagle square.. Our trip was a free and easy one so we did not have a target to cover all attractions. We jz took our time..

After that we kinda went back to our hotel along Pantai Cenang to chill at the beach..

I then took a walk along the main road with my camera for a photo shooting session..

A 430 Scuderia.. With a G1M number plate..

Apparently the Gagasan 1 Malaysia number plate is so exclusive there are only 2000 of them on Malaysian roads.. There are many different cars sporting this plate that i seen, ranging from Ferraris to Camrys and Accords to even a bus..

That aside, it's time to watch the sunset..

At night, we went to a restaurant recommended by Peow as he has been there recently...

Our pick: Fat Mom's restaurant just 5 minutes drive from our hotel..

The trademark dish there is the flaming 'Yee Mee'.

It was literally on fire..

Nice presentation but i do not think it was worth it.. Costing about RM18, it's just like other normal 'Yee Mee' i can find in Ipoh..

After dinner, we went to Awana for a walk..

Nice environment there.. Apparently the Sultan of Kedah is having some kinda function so we did not want to get in the way..

Back to the hotel it is.. And that's the end of 2 hectic days..

Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2010..

Well, when we enter the 1st was by Perodua, which showcased their new concept, Bezza.. They say it's different frm the rest or something like that. Hence the name..

But u have to admit. They are indeed displaying beauty.. ;-)

And here's the Alza Infinite.. It may still look like and Alza, but it is a damn cool modification.. On the road in the future?? Maybe..

Moving on to the Proton hall, they own one of the biggest areas, showcasing concepts such as the 5 concepts by the name of Tuah, Lekir, Lekiu, Jebat and Kasturi i think. And the Emas also.. But the one that i like is the one launched in Paris a couple of months earlier.. The Esprit concept.. Beautiful..

Others like the Lotus Elise can c on the roads so i dun need 2 upload here d..

Moving to the next hall, we come to the Chevrolet section.. This is where the Camaro is displayed.. Seriously this is a beauty.. And cheaper than i expected. Less than RM500k..

Saw 1 in Egypt the other day. It is in a much worse condition than this. This is well taken care of.

Moving on, offerings from the wonderful country of South Korea.. This is Kia..

All the cars may seem familiar to some.. They are used in the ever popular Korean action drama series, IRIS.. I have seen the cars and i think in the future i might seriously consider one of these.. Good specs and looks nice..

Another offering from the land of Korea is the brand name Hyundai, whose display was located on the upper floor.

The all new Sonata. Fluidic concept seems to be working well as the car is gorgeous. Like the Kia, its specs are looking good as well.

Also, SNSD's company car (as i know la..) The Grand Starex..

Super big car. Can sit 11 including driver and front passenger..

Moving on, back to the previous hall, the place where all the rich people go choose their next toy... Naza.. This is the only place where we have 2 stand so darn far frm the cars coz they are barricaded.. To prevent people causing damage kot..

Starting the wow list is the Brabus derived from the all new Mercedes E Class..

Brabus plastered all over..

This is the real carbon fibre on the car, not some cheap-a** carbon fibre print plastered on most of those Protons and Peroduas running around the country..

When Enzo Ferrari created this brand i wonder if he knew it'll be a legend..

This is the 458 Italia. Retailed by Naza for RM 2 mil..

(I like the model on the left. Tried to take pics wif her but she was posing too long around with the cars so i got tired and went on my way)..

There are other models such as the Maserati and Brabus Smart but i got tired of uploading the pics.. Seriously tiring..

Ok. Finally, the Japanese sent 3 reps.. Mitsubishi, Toyota (and Lexus) and Honda..

1st up. Mitsubishi. The cars we have seen before except the ASX and MiEV concept, but i liked the Lancer Sportback. Too bad the place is showered with green lights my pics turn out sucky.. The only reasonable one is this.. Their motto..

They love competition..

Moving on to Toyota, i was drawn to the new replacement model for the Toyota Supra which is popular among drifters.. Behold the FT HS...... Concept.. Hybrid..

I like the model. She's very nice n said thanks to those who take pics of her..

Also displayed there is the ever popular Prius, which is now bout RM130k.. Relatively cheap and i kinda like the futuristic layout inside especially the gear lever. Only so far 3 companies which make gear levers which i can't stop playing with. 1st is the BMW with it's joystick thingy, the 2nd is Jaguar which rotates instead of moving up and down and it rises when the engine is started. The third is this Prius. Cool gear lever.

One noteworthy offering from its luxury brand is the most expensive Lexus in Malaysia. The LS 600hL. The h means hybrid and the L at the back means it is a long wheelbase version. This thing costs at the range of RM 1 mil if i m not mistaken.

Damn big sedan. I think if i park it in my house will reach the gate d..

Anyways, moving on to the final company, Honda. They have a lot of things going on there especially the chair thingy which can move when u incline towards a particular direction. But i am not really interested in that. I went straight for the Insight. Currently it is the cheapest hybrid in Malaysia, retailing for a bit less than RM 100k.

The way i see this is quite a good car. Actually compared to a Vios i would go for this anytime.
They showcased the (maybe upcoming) Civic Euro, CRZ and a heavily modified City as well.

So, there ends my brief trip to the KLIMS.

Oh before i 4get, the other attraction which is the Batmobile, i thought it was real cheap coz it looks like it is made out of paper or cardboard. I mean come on, at least make it look more realistic or something. And they charge people to go take pics wif it. Not sure how much but i thought at that time it was quite a large sum. At least the Bumblebee they charge for pics is more worth it than this..

I will go for the next yr's motor show if possible.. Really interesting and worth my 5 bucks student ticket and my other travelling expenses.

I seriously din know PWTC is so darn big..

This is my 1st trip 2 a motor show n i seriously had a wonderful time there.. Till i din wanna go away.. Partially coz there were so many awesome cars (especially Naza's section) a~~nd mostly coz the girls r so hot u jz wanna keep on taking their pics the whole day till security drags u away~~.. :-)

Took lots of pics there n since my lappie is in the hospital... Again.. I cant upload anything much here.

But.. Surprise surprise.. I met.... MILDRED!!! Haha..Hepi sia get 2 c a friend working there..

This was my new camera's 1st assignment n i think 4 a beginner i did kinda well.. Mostly coz the camera was gud dats y my un-expertise was not shown so obviously..

Anyway, will update when my lappie's back.. According 2 HP my motherboard's blown... AGAIN!!! 2nd time this yr d.. Sigh..

After losing a dear friend this yr, i have to come to another loss.. This time someone much closer to me, my paternal grandma..

She played her part in shaping the first 7 yrs of my life when we stayed together. Then when my dad bought a new house, we moved out but still made it a point to visited both my grandpa n grandma every wk..

Then they moved to live with my uncle.. 4 yrs ago, i dealt with the loss of my grandpa.. It was tough.. Now, she left us also..

She had suffered a stroke but yet had the strength to wait for us especially my family to come visit her b4 going back to heaven.. When we spoke to her, she was weak but she still had the strength to give our hands a squeeze to reassure us that everything will be alright and we are and will forever be remembered by her..

Today, she breathed her last.. Peacefully..

Popo.. May you rest in peace in Heaven.. And may the angels of God be with you and Gong Gong as well..

God bless you.. Take care.. It'll all be okay here.. We will always love you and remember you..

The new ETS is nice.. The seats inside are like a normal non-VIP bus.. But since they are all new so its still very clean and its still ok..

As far as i can see the train only has one link to the high voltage cable above located on top of the middle coach. And since its electric, its really quiet. Nice..

And they even have their own crew wearing yellow.. Cool.. Apparently it is from some kind of a different company n stuff. Coz they have different ticket counters also..

Bye... Will take this on sunday.. Cant wait to experience going 160km/h on a train.. In Malaysia..

PS: The front and back of the train is similar. So the train is leaving, not arriving.. In case anyone mistaken it..

Hillsong 2010 Unite + Conquer Live Concert @ Ipoh

It was amazing...
The team was wonderful. Only the word "wonderful" could describe the concert..

However,
The management could have done better... Too complicated waiting process to enter.. With the registration and different wristband colours and stuff. People were confused outside on where and when to enter.
Also, they did very little informing on the procedure previously. Everyone that i know gave me different information on the requirements of registration for the concert.

And i hoped for more.. Too bad they ended so early..

But overall it was great. Not often you have a Hillsong team come all the way to Ipoh, even if they were jz the college team.. They have the ability to bring people to praise and worship God.

Anyway, enjoyed it and have to retire now. A long day today..

Will be going 2 KL this weekend..

For this...

UTP's own performance in Dewan Filharmonik PETRONAS...

The performance is entitled The Tapestry of Colours and is in support of Yayasan UTP..
Though this is not the 1st time i attended a performance in the Philharmonic hall, i really look forward to this. Coz so many of my frens are there.. :-)

Will be going with Dong and Raymond i think.. Anyway, my ticket is ready.. I'm ready to go.. Haha..

Oh ya.. I'll be watching my youngest bro in his National RHB-NST Spell It Right Challenge.. Hope he'll do well...

Anyway,

I HAVE NO MORE CLASS D!!! WAITING 2 GO KL THIS WEEKEND!!!!! HAPPY... :-)

My Places..

After being in Kerteh for 8 whole months, let me introduce to the few places that are significant to me.. And perhaps someday some of you might even visit them.. :-)

1. MY HOUSE..

Not mine exactly, but basically here's where i stayed.. It is a big double storey bungalow facing the sea with a huge driveway.. Not exactly what i had in mind when i 1st heard the description.

There's my room up there.. Where the view is nice and i can see ~~the black coloured piles of rubbish up on the shore~~ the sea everyday.

2. The Badminton Court

This is where we hang out after work to release some stress and afterward head for dinner.. This is also the place where i started to gain friends..

Of course, there's another hall which is farther and we alternate between these 2..

3. Mac D..
Whoever misses this landmark when they pass Kerteh seriously need to get their eyes checked.. This can be seen like miles away and the big M is one of the tallest structures in Kerteh (aside frm the apartments behind)..

This is a 3 min drive from our house and is where we took over their wireless service before we got our own. (Until they practically chased us out by not letting us use their power source). I believe we usually stay like 3-4 hrs here jz 2 dl stuff n online.. Heh.. Those were the days..

4. The Traffic Cameras..
Something to watch out for.. Kerteh's traffic lights all have this feature now.. As people here enjoy jumping the lights. Now u will enjoy a summon if u do that.. So ya..

5. The Car Wash..

This is also where i sit like 2 hrs reading newspapers every 2-3 weeks while waiting 4 my car 2 get a nice scrubdown..

I must say their service are real good. Nobody over here i know spends like 25 mins per car washing and vacuuming.. Summore when 4-5 people are working @ the same time.. They scrub over n over again till they r satisfied.. Worth the 12 bucks..

6. Mesra Mall..

Ah.. Who can miss this other Kerteh icon.. Practically the only hi tech shopping mall in the whole state (except KT)..

This was also where we spent our nights crapping, where my housemates celebrated my birthday (in Secret Recipe), where we participated in their very 1st Nature run and also where we bowled, sung K, played pool enjoyed Starbucks, did our shopping, met lots of staff and this is where i had my first REAL trip to Toys R Us and really looked through the stuff there.. It turns out it is a fun shop.. Can find lots of cool stuff..

7. Hai Peng Coffee Shop

This is the shop... I'm in Kemaman d by the way. This is not Kerteh. Kemaman is bout half hr from Kerteh by car through a terrible road full of bumps and an uneven road surface..

Some say people come ALL the way from KL and Singapore JUST for a cup of coffee here and go back..

Others say the coffee here tastes the best in Msia..

All i know is that it does taste nice but still cant beat my own hometown's white coffee..

But honestly. if u do stop by @ Kemaman, its worth to jz stop n have a cup of their famed coffee. Tried it a couple of times.. Its pretty good actually.. If i'm not mistaken the Astro AEC or some food show stopped by before..

8. Tong Juan Stuffed Crab

The last time i took Shu Wei 4 dinner here i brought her 2 the wrong one d.. This is the one which is good.. Also in Kemaman, the stuffed crab @ RM7 per crab. But seriously its nice..

Worth eating once in a while but for students like us, the price can be a little steep.. However, it is unique and it tastes nice as well.. Need 2 try..

I would like to put in more places but i did not take pics of them.. Places such as the snobbish-owner-but-super-delicious-Thai-style-food Bangkok Restaurant all the way to Keropok Lekor in places like Cherating and also the salted fish stall.. Nice..

Now that i look bec, I kinda enjoyed this place actually.. Haha..

This is a delayed post.. Finally got time to do this after finishing my final report.

The last week before we interns left Kerteh back to our own hometowns, we had some kinda farewell dinner wif some of our wonderful friends who had made our stay in Kerteh so much better..

At the same time we celebrated Jarryd's birthday as well.. :-)

And so i'll introduce the gang..

And we went for a K singing session after dat.. Soo Kwan can really sing.. Heh..

It was a wonderful time with these people who r make the entire town so ~~noisy~~ lively.. Had lots of fun during all the outings.. The serious technical discussions wif Jarryd, having lame fun wif Wei Zhu, having normal fun wif Jeremy, Timothy, Soo Kwan n Seng Chuan, getting bullied by Pei Chie, football and Ipoh talk wif Kum. and also not forgetting others such as Qi Hua, Wong, Ang and all the rest.. Enjoyed them very much..

U all r great.. Hope to meet again.. (But not in Kerteh)..
