Nothing to do this weekend? Take a trip up the Lehigh Valley to check out Nouveau weekend with nine different wineries to choose from.

Wondering what Nouveau is? It is a french term for “New” and it applies to a specific style of wine produced weeks after harvest, not months or years. Nouveau typically is a red wine that goes through a rapid fermentation. This style of winemaking produces a aromatic, fruity, soft wine with vivid colors that are delicious and ready to drink shortly after harvest. These Nouveau wines can age for several years, however are meant to be drank while young and bursting with flavor.

Nouveau Weekend November 15 & 16
Saturday 10am-5pm • Sunday noon-5pm

Free Admission
Wine Trail Wine Glasses $1 a glass.

Here’s what the wine trail wineries have planned
for Nouveau Weekend:

Amore Winery
For Nouveau, Amore will feature new releases of Chambourcin Reserve, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay, along with Goot Essa Cheeses.

Big Creek Winery
Big Creek will turn back the clock, releasing a traditional style of Nouveau, made with Gamay Beaujolais, along with a seasonal spiced apple wine for the holidays.

Blue Mountain
Winery Blue Mounatin will be pairing our 2008 Nouveau with Cranberry Glazed Chicken. Enjoy our Mountain Spice heated and served with Pumpkin Spice cake. On Saturday Kurt will be providing entertainment 1-4pm. On Sunday join us for our Sunday Blues with Leechboy 2-5pm.

Cherry Valley Winery
Cherry Valley Vineyards will be pairing Mary’s Marinated Mushrooms with DeChaunac Wine.

Clover Hill Winery
Clover Hill Winery will be rejoicing with the turtle; that is, the new release of Turtle Rock Red. We will also be joined by Breakaway Farms from Manheim, PA. Breakaway will be sampling and selling their 100% organic and chemical-free cheeses and meats. This is a great time to stock up on local wines, cheeses and meats to help celebrate a local Thanksgiving.

Franklin Hill Winery
Get ready for the Thanksgiving holiday as you pair a variety of wines with a delicious sampling of roast turkey, stuffing and homemade cranberry sauce.

Galen Glen Winery
Warm up with Chambourcin Mulled Wine tasted with Vinkaka (wine cake) made using our Barrel 29, a Chambourcin port-style dessert wine. Vinkaka is a traditional fall recipe from our neighbor, who is a very talented baker. When we first sampled this scrumptious treat, it disappeared so fast we asked for seconds. You will too!

Pinnacle Ridge
Come and experience a taste of Austria at Pinnacle Ridge. Our NuVo follows the Austrian tradition of Heuriger wines. This freshly fermented white wine of the new harvest is offered in the taverns surrounding Vienna. We will be pairing our white NuVo with an Austrian speciality, goulash and tiny homemade dumplings.

Vynecrest Winery
Vynecrest will release our first vintage of the 2008 season – our Gamay Beaujolais Nouveau Wine. We will be pairing it with Caramelized Onion Herb & Cheese Focaccia Bread. There will be live music in the Vyneskeller Wine Bar both afternoons, free admission.

Philly Weekly has a great write-up on this inexpensive and cozy BYOB.

Despite its late start, Casta Diva became many an Italophile’s go-to BYOB. But after going steady for six years, chef/owner Stephen Vassalluzzo closed for a decorating exorcism that cast out the gilt mirrors, dusty drapes and faded buttercup paint. Reopened in September, the space’s new walls alternate soft sage and deep evergreen, embellished with framed opera posters and circular mirrors clustered together like Prosecco bubbles. Cherry floors shine like steamrolled red licorice, leading the way into a 20-seat expansion.
