It’s the return of the oldest and largest indoor multi-breed horse competition in the US with the Devon Horse Show running this weekend. Don't miss the Devon Horse Show hitting town this weekend. The Devon Horse Show is the oldest and largest outdoor multi-breed horse show competition in the United States and it's coming to town this weekend, May 23rd through June 2nd.

In addition to the wonderful horse show, there will again be the Devon Country Fair with games, amusement rides, food, fun and more. And, proceeds of the Devon Country Fair benefit Bryn Mawr Hospital.

On Thursday May 23rd and Tuesday May 28th come out for Family Days, where the first 150 children get free admission (sponsored by the Delaware Valley Friends School). Plus enjoy specials on food, fun and souvenirs and more. And Sunday June 2nd is Children's Day with free admission (sponsored by Bach to Rock!) for kids. I always thought I would be a good mom until I actually became one myself. Then I realized how much I really have to learn. How far I have to go yet. Motherhood is hard stuff. It's endless days, sleepless nights, constant sacrifices, and so much more. I continually question whether what I am doing with my two girls is right or wrong. I just hope that I am leaving minimal harm on their little souls and giving them enough love to make them strong, happy citizens of this planet. I know I've made mistakes. And, I know I will continue to make more. But, I am forever blessed that these two beautiful beings came into my life. I am humbled that they are entrusted to my care and I will be forever grateful that my belly and my heart was expanded to include these two beautiful little people for the rest of our lives. I am humbled and honored to be a mom. And I honor all the other moms out there for all you do and all you are for your children. You are my heros! Enjoy your special day and any little moments of rest or extra pampering you might get today. You deserve it and so much more!!

Mom Mixer Spring Into Summer With Lands End Showcase and a Special Treat for You!

Recently I had the opportunity to attend a wonderful event called the Mom Mixer Spring Into Summer with Lands End in Philadelphia at the beautiful XIX Restaurant on the 19th floor of the Hyatt at the Bellvue Hotel. The event was organized by the lovely and uber-awesome power-house team of Colleen Padilla of Classy Mommy and Whitney Wingerd of Mommies with Style. This was a great chance for the incredible local community of social media moms from the Philadelphia area (and beyond!) to come out and mingle, get a glimpse of some new spring and summer products, and get to know some really exciting brands and hot products this season. I had a blast at this event just seeing what some of the hot brands were showcasing and getting to know some wonderful people and products. Plus, I'm always game for a great excuse to hang out with fun moms and catch up with friends I don't get to see enough in real life! The event was co-sponsored by Lands End who had an incredible presence with two LandsEnd Swim designers attending and helping women to find their perfect swim suit fit (something that nearly every woman I know absolutely dreads). They had many of the versatile and stylish suits on display from this summer's line so we could see the fit and fabrics and new styles.

Also at the event was QVC with a gorgeous booth set up for styling from a new brand called "Send the Trend" where we got to try on jewelry, scarves, jackets and more all available from QVC!

In addition to the swimsuits, jeans, and jewels, there was also some incredible yummy foods to try including the brand new premium McWraps from McDonalds and my new favorite yougurt, Koru. I got to try the Sweet Chili premium McWrap and it was so delicious! I am thrilled that this is a new option for me at McDonalds because it was oh so tasty - yum!

I also fell in love with Koru creamery style yoghurt, a new "mind-blowingly delicious" yoghurt that really is so good. I tried the passion fruit and peach flavors and they were incredible. You guys, if you see this yoghurt in the store near year make sure you grab it up and don't share it with your kids.

And one of my absolute favorite organizations was also at the event, Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation which is a local organization working to end childhood cancer worldwide by raising money for cancer research one cup of lemonade at a time.

Johnson & Johnson also had a great Baby Booth set up at the event where we moms could create a "care card" with a message of reassurance for a special mom in our life and for every card created Johnson & Johnson donated $1 to the Save the Children as a part of the Johnson's Baby CARES charitable initiative. And, with all the cards we moms made that day we Johnson & Johnson will donate $500 to Save the Children just from us! WOOT

My family and I went to the Valentine's Dance Party in February and it was such a total blast. Kids love dancing and having a great time on the dance floor with a real live DJ. But there's also fun spilling out from all corners of the club with bubble machines, baskets of scarves and egg-shakers, a chill-out room (with tents, books and puzzles), diaper changing stations, a full spread of healthy snacks and dancing, and yes LOTS of dancing.

But at its core, Baby Loves Disco is a community event that brings kids together with kids and parents together with parents. Started by professional dancer (and professional mom) Heather Murphy, the idea was to create an alternative to the pre-packaged world of entertainment for young kids. Says Murphy, “We’re parents, we’re always looking for something new and different to do with the kids.” (Amen to that, Heather.) The Bus for Us is a beautiful picture book, by author and illustrator Suzanne Bloom for children ages 3- 6 and is the Pennsylvania's One Book, Every Young Child 2013 selection. During this program, author Suzanne Bloom will join several libraries in Delaware County for an evening of literacy themed activities based on Pennsylvania’s Early Learning Standards.

Copies of the book will be distributed, one per family. Limited copies available.

Delaware County Enviro Fair - April 13

The Delaware County Enviro Fair is happening this Saturday April 13th at Penn Wood High School 100 Green Avenue in Lansdowne, PA.

The Enviro Fair started in 2009 when members of Swarthmore Presbyterian Church decided to hold an environmental fair the following spring to highlight the church's own energy efficiency improvements and to advance the idea of environmental stewardship. Swarthmore Presbyterian Church had recently received the EPA's coveted "Energy Star Congregation" award, and took this as an opportunity to educate both its own members and the community at large. The 2010 Fair featured presentations by local experts, displays by installers of energy-efficient systems, alternative energy vendors, and information booths from nonprofits and government. More than 300 people attended the Fair, which filled nearly every available space in the church.

While planning for the 2011 Fair, the group quickly realized that space would again be a major limiting factor. Fortunately, other local sustainability advocates were already thinking along the same lines, and a working partnership was formed to connect with our School District and local governments. The original SPC core team expanded as well, knowing that a larger event would entail a lot more work. Volunteers from Swarthmore Friends' Meeting joined the group, along with community representatives, and the name Earth Care Council was chosen to reflect their mutual aims. The Fair was sponsored by PECO and Verizon Wireless, with NPR's Mike McGrath as the keynote speaker. A PC recycling event was added in the parking lot, provided at no cost by the company that handled the School District's needs, and a paper shredding truck was included to further draw in visitors. And Renew America Roadtrip drew quite a crowd with a Tesla electric roadster. Overall, the 2011 & 2012 Environmental Fairs drew over 500 visitors, with more than 35 exhibitors, and comments were enthusiastic from all sides.

The 2013 Fair promises to be even more exciting. New activities are being added to support a county-wide reach. The theme for Enviro Fair this year is "Our Green Home." There will be lots of great and earth-friendly activities including:

There are so many rooms in my house that I am often wishing I had more time and money to improve.
