Tiendesitas is more than just a shopping mecca in the middle of what used to be just Valle Verde in Pasig. Recently we received a cryptic email from Paul Jason d. Jaud of the Ortigas Company consisting of a poster for an event called the Tiendesitas Music Arts Festival that will be happening on May 16 and 17.<div class="feedflare">

The venerable radio station which invented the word &ldquo;Pinoy Rock&rdquo; is celebrating 45 years of existence.
All Eraserheads, All The Time

So it&#39;s been over a month since that fabled Eraserheads reunion went from rumor status to a real live event. And yet people are still talking about it like it was only yesterday that the crowds were milling about Fort Bonifacio, gawking at the giant screen with the digital countdown. The blogs are still a-buzz, and it&#39;s still the main topic of conversation on the Eraserheads mailing list. The August 30 concert even spun off a few spoofs on television...<div class="feedflare">

A Gathering of Songwriters

A small crowd of amateur and professional songwriters gathered up for one big night of purely original Filipino music at the 9 Mile Bar along Kalayaan Road in Quezon City. The crusade of songwriters for the recognition of their incomparable songwriting prowess was once again proven its worthiness. Rekindling an old flame that was started by Katha: Organization of Filipino Composers after it was dissolved last year, former Katha members reunited to light the torch one more time.<div class="feedflare">

This piece profiled three publications - Pulp, Volume (then edited by Eric Caruncho but which no longer exists) and PhilMusic.com.
The Eraserheads Reunion Second Set Ends - At Saguijo

After the word went out the Ely Buendia was okay and in stable condition after playing a whole set during the Reunion Concert last night, the three Eraserheads, musicians in the audience, and music scenesters alike converged at Saguijo in Makati for an impromptu jam containing the songs of the aborted second set. Luckily, Quark Henares and Mark Escueta were there to shoot videos of a couple of the songs for the rest of us.<div class="feedflare">

Looks like all is set for the big reunion show tonight. The Eraserheads cranked up for their soundcheck in the wee hours of the morning at the Fort Bonifacio Open Field. Luckily director and man-about-town Quark Henares was there a shot some intriguing video of the &#39;Heads doing some jams based on DavidBowie&#39;s Ziggy Stardust and their own Sembreak .<div class="feedflare">

DZRJ's 45th is Coming Up

Way before XB, way before NU, Pinoy Rock radio was defined by an AM station called DZRJ, the Rock of Manila . In fact, the term Pinoy Rock itself was created for their radio program Pinoy Rock n&#39; Rhythm hosted by the late Howlin&#39; Dave. But you knew all that already. What may be news to you are details about DZRJ&#39;s 45th anniversary concert, a jam called Super Sessions all set for Oct...<div class="feedflare">

Forget What You Heard: The Eraserheads Reunion is Pushing Through

The rumors flew fast and thick all weekend. The story was that the Eraserheads Reunion was canceled. After all the relentless pressure from the anti-smoking lobby led by Dr. Maricar Limpin and her cronies at the Department of Health, Philip Morris did pull out of the show they organized. But on Sunday night, Raymund Marasigan himself made the announcement: The Eraserheads are most definitely pushing through with the reunion show. On schedule. At the right venue. On...<div class="feedflare">

6Underground Diversifies: Branches out to TV, Radio, and the Internet

Bel Sayson of 6Underground dropped us a line with news that the club is stretching its muscles and branching out to Television (on Studio 23), Radio (on NU107), and the Interwebs (Underground.ph) - becoming a multimedia music mogul of sorts. Bel writes, Providing a physical venue to champion this objective is noble enough - but we see the need to constantly challenge ourselves and come up with more tools to better equip the indie musicians playing for and...<div class="feedflare">

Francis M Diagnosed with Leukemia: Call for Blood Donations Made

It was quite a bit of shocker for us when the word first popped up on the net from Pupil manager Day Cabuhat that local hiphop icon Francis Magalona (aka Francis M) has been diagnosed with leukemia. Day and other friends of Francis have started a blood drive at the Medical City hospital in Ortigas, Pasig. The word has already gone out over the blogosphere from fans and friends of Kiko, and the response so far has been warm and...<div class="feedflare">

Philip Morris Comes Clean - Releases Details on Eraserheads Reunion Concert

Well it&#39;s about time. Yet another 08/08/08 announcement (right up there with the Wolfgang Villains teaser, the release of Rico Blanco&#39;s Your Universe , and of course - the opening of the Beijing Olympics) was Philip Morris Philippines finally &#39;fessing up and admitting their participation in the Eraserheads Reunion, and releasing details about the event.
In yet another auspicious use of the date 08-08-08 (with the Beijing Olympics obviously being one of them), Basti Artadi slyly dropped another a bomb among Wolfgang fans by posting yet another intriguing graphic on his social networking profile pages.
Guitar 911: A New Itchyworms Racket

Jugs Jugueta of Itchyworms recently got in touch with us about his new guitar business, which he runs with Itchyworms bassist Kelvin Yu. The gig is called Guitar 911 - a guitar repair shop that also dabbles in creating customer guitars - thanks to their master luthier Mang Doro Taneo. The worms have been pimping Guitar 911 on PhilMusic&#39;s Guitar Central forum (http://talk.philmusic.com/board/index.php/board,77.0.html) for some time, where they&#39;ve attracted a loyal cadre of customers among the stringed set.
