At least two people have died in a trailer accident at Cele bus stop, along Oshodi-Apapa Expressway in Lagos.

The accident involved a 40-foot container-laden truck which rammed into a 14-seater bus along Oshodi-Apapa Expressway. The unfortunate incident claimed the lives of two middle-aged men, while others were severely injured.

While the actual extent of the fatality is yet to be determined, injured persons have been rushed out of the road for medical attention.

Eyewitnesses told The Guardian that the trailer heading from Mile2 road to Oshodi while trying to circumvent the gridlock on its lane took a one-way lane and ran into pedestrians.

The victims are yet to be identified.

The popular brand consultant wrote:

Many women are like me - cooking is a trial & tribulation. We don't enjoy it. But "culture" guilts us into doing it. I was set free by a friend. She told me she stopped cooking the day it dawned on her that she had no point to prove. She could cook. She simply chooses not to.

She added:

Samsung’s foldable phone has been floating around the company under the codename “Winner” for some time now. That bit of info isn’t new. It’s understandably taken the company a while to get the thing just right.

After all, we’re talking a new paradigm here in terms of form factor. It’s an exciting process, indeed — and a code a LOT of companies have been trying to crack. According to a new report from Bloomberg, however, some of the heel dragging with regard to decision making on that front is really coming down to the wire here.

The Samsung Developer Conference, happening next month in San Francisco, could be the big debut for the long-awaited product. From the sound of the report, however, we’re going to see little more than a “conceptual image” of the product, rather than a retail device or even prototype.

That means, of course, that we can probably rule out any possibility that the company is going to attempt to jam this thing out for the holidays. The unveil would be more of a check in to let the world know that the product is, indeed, still in the works, and big innovation is just around the corner. Winners don’t just happen overnight, you know.

Screen orientation is reportedly a sticking point here, with the company ultimately opting for a design that opens like an old school flip phone. Samsung is said to be working with Google on a custom version of Android that can handle the new design language — similar to what LG did with Android wear on its new hybrid watch. There are also some concerns around mass production. The phrase “The screen, when it cracks, shatters like dried paper” doesn’t really instill a lot of confidence here.

As reported earlier, Samsung’s next flagship, the S10 will sport an in-screen fingerprint reader (a similar feature is also coming on the soon to launch OnePlus 6T). More surprisingly, the company is also “toying” with dropping the headphone jack on the device. While it’s true the decision feels like an inevitability, Samsung has roundly mocked Apple’s decision for years now.

More than half of crypto news sites are pay-for-play

In a clever bit of sleuthing by Corin Faife at Breaker, we find that over half of the most popular crypto blogs offer pay-for-play posts including “CEO interviews” that are not labelled as sponsored. Further, many sites offer premium services in which blog writers will repost PR content without a sponsored tag.

As I noted a few weeks ago, the crypto industry is awash with money and “journalists” are taking advantage of the naivety and dishonesty of the marketers tasked with pushing another me-too crypto product in front of an unreceptive audience. Faife received multiple emails like this one asking him to accept payment for placing articles at the places he worked, including Motherboard and Coindesk:

“I know that I would never take money for coverage, nor would any serious journalist. But covering the cryptocurrency industry, I read content on a daily basis that comes from a large number of outlets that I can’t vouch for. If these offers of pay-for-post are out there, can we rely on all of the journalists and editors to turn them down? Can we believe in the objectivity of the coverage we see every day, or has it simply been paid for by a company flush with cash?” he wrote. “The more I thought about it, the more it seemed like there was a simple way to find out. As a BREAKER investigation, we’d ask to pay for coverage of an ICO, and see who said yes.”
Faife reached out to 28 cryptocurrency news sites and received 22 definitive responses. Posing as a Russian PR professional, Faife first asked for rates for posting information on the site. When he received a response, he asked if the posts would have a “sponsored” tag, a traditional signal that a post wasn’t explicitly written by the news organization’s reporters.
Of the 22 replies, he received 14 agreeable responses including an offer to remove the sponsored tag for $4,500. This helpful graph shows how quickly sites will abandon journalistic ethics to grab a little cash:

Contacted about the story, Samuel Rae, CEO of NewsBTC, responded:
“It’s come to my attention that one of our sales team has mistakenly suggested that we could publish content without disclosure that it has been paid for (i.e. a sponsored article) to one of your undercover reporters posing as a PR agent. This is not our policy. The sales executive offering this has been removed from our company active immediately and won’t be dealing with/offering our advertising (or otherwise) services again, be it to a PR company, a reseller or anyone else.”
Pressed to offer evidence that the staff member had been removed, and to explain a second source quoting NewsBTC’s willingness to publish sponsored content without disclosure, Rae declined to give further comment.

The important thing to note here are the sums of money that many of these crypto and ICO organizations will raise thanks to a small investment in media. A solid blog post can move untrained “investors” to buy or sell crypto and tokens in an instant, creating situations ripe for pump and dump schemes where the actual level of interest in a company is clouded by payola. Most sane, mature news organizations see this problem and address it by refusing to accept paid content. That said, times are changing and the lines are blurring between paid and unpaid content. Ultimately, however, the behavior Faife uncovered is implicitly wrong.
There’s an old saying: fools and their money are soon parted. Uneducated and uninformed crypto investors are fools, but they visit crypto sites for a proper education. When news organizations create so-called fake news in order to drum up a little advertising cash, everyone loses.

WhatsApp is finally adding stickers to its hugely popular messaging app. The company said today that support for stickers will roll out to Android and iOS users over “the coming weeks.”

Initially, the app’s 1.5 billion users will have a seemingly limited selection with the first packs provided by WhatsApp’s own design team and some “other artists” chosen by the company.
However, that’s likely to change in the future since WhatsApp will allow anyone to add stickers that can be used inside the app.
It’s taking an interesting route to enabling that. Would-be sticker artists will need to publish their packs as an app on the Google Play or Apple App Store. From there, users can download the apps and then make use of the stick packs inside WhatsApp. The company has provided a template that it claims requires “minimal development or coding experience.”

Other messaging apps have taken a different approach.
Line — which pioneered the concept of stickers — takes a very curated approach, with sticker packs approved by the company itself. That walled garden approach has helped it curate the best selection of stickers, many of which are paid. That’s nothing to be scoffed as since Line makes hundreds of millions of dollars from sticker purchases every year.
Telegram has the most open sticker platform. Anyone can make and publish stickers in just minutes, but that leads to its own problems such as plagiarism and differing levels of quality.
Either way, WhatsApp’s move into stickers is very much a Facebook -led move.
The service’s founders — Jan Koum and Brian Acton — have both left the social network under controversial terms, at least according to Acton himself.
Prior to the acquisition deal, both men were very vocally opposed to advertising, games and other functions. They deemed them trivial and believed that they detracted from the core focus of WhatsApp: simple and fast messaging application set to be a more interesting social media.
At this point, their ethical ship has long since sailed with Facebook introducing features like a business service and ad integrations with Facebook, while there are plans to roll out payments and other features that Koum and Acton would no doubt have railed against. It’s enough to make you vomit over the side of your yacht in the Mediterranean.

Ethiopia on Thursday appointed a woman to the largely ceremonial position of president for the first time, further increasing female representation in the government of Africa’s second most populous nation.

In a unanimous vote, Ethiopian lawmakers picked career diplomat Sahle-Work Zewde, 68, to replace Mulatu Teshome who resigned in unclear circumstances.

Ethiopia’s reformist Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed last week appointed a slimline 20-person cabinet in which half the posts are held by women.

They include defence minister Aisha Mohammed and Muferiat Kamil who leads the newly-created Ministry of Peace, responsible for police and domestic intelligence agencies.

“If the current change in Ethiopia is headed equally by both men and women, it can sustain its momentum and realise a prosperous Ethiopia free of religious, ethnic and gender discrimination,” Sahle-Work said Thursday.

Sahle-Work, who was born in the capital Addis Ababa and attended university in France, has been Ethiopia’s ambassador to France, Djibouti, Senegal and the regional bloc, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).

Just prior to her appointment as president she was the UN’s top official at the African Union. She is fluent in English and French as well as Amharic, Ethiopia’s main language.

As president she is expected to serve two six-year terms.

Symbolism and influence
“Mulatu has shown us the way for change and hope, he has shown life continues before and after leaving power. I call on others to heed his example and be ready for change,” said Sahle-Work in a speech to parliament.

Political power in Ethiopia is wielded by the prime minister with the president’s role restricted to attending ceremonies and functions.

Nevertheless, Sahle-Work’s position carries important symbolic weight and social influence.

“Government and opposition parties have to understand we are living in a common house and focus on things that unite us, not what divides us, to create a country and generation that will make all of us proud,” she said.

“The absence of peace victimises firstly women, so during my tenure I will emphasise women’s roles in ensuring peace and the dividends of peace for women.”

Sahle-Work becomes Africa’s only serving female head of state, albeit in a ceremonial role.

A handful of African countries have in the recent past been led by female presidents with executive powers, including Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in Liberia (2006-18) and Joyce Banda in Malawi (2012-14).

Banda was elevated to the presidency following the death in office of Bingu wa Mutharika, while Sirleaf won two elections before standing down earlier this year at the end of her constitutionally mandated terms.

As organised labour prepares for a nationwide strike from November 6 over a new minimum wage, Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association, NECA, has explained what makes up a minimum wage, saying the “clarity on the definition is to eliminate any form of ambiguity on the issue.”

NECA, in a statement by its Director General, Mr. Olusegun Oshinowo, noted that “the component of the national minimum wage had been well discussed and agreed upon in the past.

“It is the total emolument and not just the basic salary. Item (iii) on page xi of the Report of the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage 2010, specifically cited the national minimum wage of N18,000 per month as total emolument.

“In the same vein, Clause 2.1.2.8 on page 10 of the Report of the Committee on the Review of Wages, Salaries and Allowances in the Federal Public Service and the National Minimum Wage, April 2000 even went further to give a breakdown of the components of the then wage of N7,500 as basic salary, transport, meal subsidy, utility allowance and rent subsidy (which was then 40 percent of basic Salary in the public service.”

Jafar is expected to proceed from the airport to meet with the committee, which was set up on October 15, to investigate the authenticity of the video clip published by his website, allegedly showing the governor receiving a bribe from contractors, a claim the governor has denied.

Ahead of his arrival, security was beefed up at the Assembly and a team of security personnel were reportedly dispatched to the airport to escort him to the Assembly.

NSCDC Storms Cross River Creek, Arrests Seven Suspected Oil Thieves

The suspected oil thieves were arrested with more than 200 drums of diesel.

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has apprehended seven suspected members of an oil bunkering gang with over 200 drums of diesel valued at over N10 million at a creek in Calabar South Local Government Area of Cross River State.

The creek, located at the Jebbs area of Calabar South, is said to be a hideout and a major route for oil thieves and a hub for bunkering activities within states in the Niger Delta.

State Commandant, NSCDC, Stephen Lar, speaking shortly after parading the suspects and the products at the Jebbs creek, warned that the command was focused on ridding the creeks in the state of illegal activities.

The NSCDC boss decried oil bunkering as sabotage to the nation’s economy, noting that the oil thieves are using the creeks as a route to perpetuate the evil act.

Lar warned criminals using other creeks within the state for such nefarious activities to desist from doing so or be prepared to meet their Waterloo in the coming days.

Meanwhile, the products discovered with the suspects have been moved to the Civil defence office for testing while the suspects according to the command will be arraigned.

Enugu Rangers defeated Kano Pillars in a penalty shootout after 90 minutes of play that ended 3-3 at the 22, 000 capacity Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.

The stadium was filled to capacity by football lovers who were mainly from the Eastern part of the country and Delta State.

Kano Pillars had dominated the game recording 2 goals to 0 against Enugu Rangers in the first half of play and went ahead to show their dominance in the second half by increasing the number of goals to 3-0 in the first 5 minutes of the second half.

Oboli was born in Benin City, Edo State. She is a descendant of Mosogar in Delta State.moni Oboli studied Foreign Languages (majoring in French) at the University of Benin, and graduated with honours (2nd Class Upper division).

Career

Omoni began her movie career with her first movie role in Bitter Encounter (1996), where she played a secretary. Her next was Shame. She then went on to play the lead female character in three major movies; Not My Will, Destined To Die and Another Campus Tale. After enjoying a brief career in 1996, Omoni left the movie industry to complete her university education. She married immediately after school and did not return to the industry until a decade later.

She has several screenplays to her credit, including her film Wives On Strike as well as The Rivals, a movie she co-produced with her friend and won the prize for Best International Drama at the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival.It was the first Nigerian film to be premiered since the festival’s inception in 2003. The movie was given a 3-star rating out of 4 by the festival's judges.

Omoni has played lead roles in mainstream films, including: The Figurine (2009), Anchor Baby (2010), Being Mrs Elliot, and Fifty (2015). She is also the first actress from Nollywood to win Best Actress in two international festivals (that are not organized by Nigerians or Africans), in the same year (2010). This she did at the Harlem International Film Festival and the Los Angeles Movie Awards for her lead role in the movie Anchor Baby.

Awards and Nominations

In 2010, she won the award for Best Actress Narrative Feature at the Los Angeles Movie Awards, and the award for Best Actress at the Harlem International Film Festival^] Omoni was nominated for the Best Actress in a leading role award at the 2011 Africa Movie Academy Awards.

In 2014, she won Big Screen Actress of the Year award, at the 2014 ELOY Awards, for her movie Being Mrs Elliott. In 2015, Omoni was awarded the Sun Nollywood "Personality of the Year", She has directed several movies such as Being Mrs Elliott, The First Lady, Wives on Strike, and Okafor's Law.

Legal issue

Omoni Oboli starred in the movie Okafor's Law, which premiered on 24 March 2017. However, the movie could not be screened at the premiere due to an injunction by the court. Oboli was accused of copyright infringement by Jude Idada,who claimed to have written part of the script for Okafor's Law.The movie was released on 31 March 2017.

Charity

Omoni Oboli set up a charity organization, "The Omoni Oboli Foundation" to use her celebrity status to bring well-needed relief to the plight of the less privileged women and children of Nigerian society. The foundation has been able to embark on several projects which include the following:

The feeding of street children in Lagos.
Feeding and giving over two hundred poor and disadvantaged children at Delta Steel Complex, Aladja, a fun day with practical gifts.
Broadening the mindset of the less privileged children by taking the children of Ecole Divine Nursery Primary and Secondary School to a milk factory to see how it is made and packaged.

Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state on Tuesday denied receiving N30 billion from the Federal Government after its inauguration.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Yinka Oyebode, quoted Mr Fayemi as saying that the people of the state should discountenance the rumour as it was fake and unfounded.

“The fact remains that the new administration has not received any money from the Federal Government or any of its agencies since its inauguration a week ago.

“The attention of Ekiti State Government has been drawn to some malicious reports from some quarters that the new administration has received N30 billion from the federal government in the last one week

“We will have ignored this baseless rumour that is being circulated, especially in social media by some unscrupulous individuals, but for the sake of members of the public that could be misled in the process.

“As a responsible government that believes in accountability and transparency, this government will always provide correct information to the people on all its transactions and will not hide anything from the people.

“Members of the public are thereby assured of regular briefings on the state of finances and developments in the state

“The era of government by deceit and falsehood has ended on Oct. 15. The present administration is focused on meeting its obligations to workers, pensioners and the general public,“ he said.

The governor said that his administration would not be distracted by baseless rumours in the discharge of its duties to the people of the state.

Luuk De Jong scored a dramatic late leveller as PSV Eindhoven scraped a 2-2 Champions League draw with 10-man Tottenham Hotspur to leave the English giants’ campaign hanging by a thread on Wednesday.

With no points from their opening two Group B fixtures, this was make-or-break for both Spurs and PSV at the Philips Stadion.

A dominant Spurs looked to have the points wrapped up after Kane nodded past Jeroen Zoet for a 55th-minute lead after Lucas Moura had equalised after Hirving Lozano’s 30th-minute opener for PSV.

But when Lozano threatened to catch a through ball in the 78th minute, goalkeeper Hugo Lloris came rushing out of his goal and caught the Mexican winger with his knee.

The French World Cup winner was immediately shown a red card, with Spurs manager Mauricio Pocchettino taking off Heung-Min Son for second-choice ‘keeper Michel Vorm.

Vorm’s first task was to push away a superb free-kick at the base of the post, only to be caught ball-watching when De Jong poked a loose ball past him with three minutes left on the clock.

It saw Spurs locked with PSV on one point in Group B, five points behind Barcelona and Inter Milan, who play later Wednesday.

A fast start saw Tottenham quickly take control and in the 18th minute, Kane saw a great header come off post and crossbar following a corner from the right.

PSV midfielder Gaston Pereiro fired just a yard wide of Lloris’s upright with a 25-yard free-kick and at the other end, Zoet was down quickly to smother when Son skipped past the Spurs defence to fire a low shot on target.

Yet the Londoners were stunned on the half hour when Toby Alderweireld panicked on a backpass from Davinson Sanchez as Lozano applied the pressure.

Despite Alderweireld running back to block, Lozano’s effort deflected off the Belgian’s boot to send the ball over a rooted Lloris.

Tottenham looked to be back on level terms minutes later when, from a corner, Sanchez fired a rebound from Alderweireld’s header past Zoet from inside a packed area.

But somehow the goal was ruled offside. Although Kane was in an offside position, the England striker made no attempt to play the ball.

Spurs made amends almost immediately, Christian Eriksen splitting the PSV defence to set up Kieran Trippier for a crisp cross that Lucas fired first-time past Zoet via a deflection.

Tottenham were thankful moments later when Pereiro dribbled past Alderweireld to prod an effort off Lloris’s bar.

But Spurs continued to be the better team.

Zoet came to the rescue to deny Eriksen after he was set up by Trippier and the Dane made amends soon after with a superb delivery that saw Kane nod past Zoet at the back post.

Despite Spurs’ dominance, the depleted Londoners were made to pay in the final minutes when De Jong pounced in a packed area to poke past Vorm.

ABUJA – MINISTER of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Thursday denied the report on social media that he threatened that Nigeria would send missile to Israel if the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu was not released to Nigeria for the continuation of his prosecution.

The Minister also said that the resurfacing of the IPOB leader in Israel has justified the claims of the federal government that it was not aware of his whereabouts.

Briefing State House correspondents after the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, Abuja, Alhaji Mohammed described the allegation against him as fake news.

According to him, “I was in London when I heard the story about Nnamdi Kanu surfacing in Israel. I was not in a position to make any statement. But before I knew it, within a few hours, I saw my picture with a story saying that I had actually given Israel ultimatum to return Nnamdi Kanu otherwise, we will send them missiles.

“I just laughed. It speaks to what we are talking about fake news because it is probably the biggest threat in the run-up to the elections. Having said that, I have nothing more to add to the issue of Nnamdi Kanu. At the appropriate time, the various authorities will make a statement about the issue of Kanu.

“But this has proven that all along when Kanu disappeared and the mob was asking the Nigerian army to account for the whereabouts of Kanu; I kept saying that Kanu knows where he is. He was not in the custody of the Federal Government. We have been vindicated today. Any other statement will be made in due course.”

Henry Still Waiting For First Win As Monaco Held At Brugge

An injury-hit Monaco failed to give Thierry Henry his first win as a head coach with a 1-1 Champions League draw at Club Brugge on Wednesday.

Moussa Sylla raised hopes of Monaco ending an 11-match winless streak by opening the scoring just after the half-hour mark at the Jan Breydel Stadium, but Wesley struck for the Belgian champions to secure a point.

The principality club have now also gone 11 Champions League games without a victory since their thrilling 6-3 aggregate triumph over Borussia Dortmund in the 2016-17 quarter-finals.

Henry, who took over from the sacked Leonardo Jardim earlier this month, saw his young side put in a spirited display despite being depleted by a raft of injuries, although the result leaves both sides facing elimination from Group A.

Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid lead the way, five points clear of Monaco and Brugge, ahead of their meeting at Signal Iduna Park later on Wednesday.

Monaco will now hope it is a case of third time lucky under Henry when they host Dijon on Saturday, looking to drag themselves out of the Ligue 1 relegation zone.

Henry was forced to hand a full debut to 20-year-old fourth-choice goalkeeper Loic Badiashile in West Flanders, with Danijel Subasic and Diego Benaglio out injured and Seydou Sy, who made a dreadful error in Monaco’s loss to Strasbourg at the weekend, not registered to play in the Champions League.

– Jovetic joins injury list –

Nothing was going right for Monaco’s new coach, as after Radamel Falcao had hobbled off injured on Saturday, Henry was left without a senior striker when Stevan Jovetic had to be replaced by teenager Sofiane Diop in only the 12th minute.

But his fellow 18-year-old Sylla put the visitors ahead in the 32nd minute, darting onto Aleksandr Golovin’s through ball and sliding home his maiden Champions League goal.

Sylla should have doubled the lead before half-time as he raced clear of home goalkeeper Karlo Letica, only to roll the ball wide of an empty net.

He was made to pay just seconds later, as Brazilian forward Wesley saw his header take a big deflection off Monaco centre-back Kamil Glik and spin past the despairing dive of Badiashile.

Ivan Leko’s Brugge continued to create chances in the second half, but after a flowing move which sliced Monaco open, captain Ruud Vormer hacked his strike well over the crossbar.

After a nervous moment when Badiashile lost possession outside his own area, Monaco went straight up the other end and nearly retook the lead when Golovin’s drive was beaten away by Letica.

Henry, who was assistant coach to Roberto Martinez for Belgium during their run to the World Cup semi-finals, replaced substitute Diop with midfielder Jean-Eudes Aholou in an attempt to seal a point, but they needed a massive slice of luck to escape with a draw.

With Martinez watching on in the stands, 18-year-old Belgian Lois Openda wasted a glorious opportunity deep into added time, heading wide from barely two yards out with an open goal to aim at.

Borussia Dortmund stunned Atletico Madrid with a 4-0 thrashing on Wednesday to move to the verge of the Champions League knockout stage, as English teenager Jadon Sancho scored his first goal in the competition.

It was the heaviest Champions League defeat ever suffered by Diego Simeone in seven years as Atletico head coach and put Dortmund top of Group A after both teams had previously beaten Club Brugge and Monaco.

Axel Witsel gave Dortmund the lead at Signal Iduna Park when his first-half shot took a wicked deflection, before Raphael Guerreiro, who scored twice in the second half, and 18-year-old Sancho came off the bench to grab the other goals.

Dortmund were without in-form Spanish striker Paco Alcacer, who has scored seven times in just four Bundesliga games, with a leg injury, while Diego Costa returned to partner Antoine Griezmann up front for Atletico.

This was a typically tense European affair, played at a frantic pace between two strong teams eager to focus on attacking football with neither defence allowing many clear chances.

With 35 minutes gone, Dortmund lost midfielder Thomas Delaney with a foot injury and the Dane was replaced by Mahmoud Dahoud, who played a hand in the opening goal.

After a determined run by US midfielder Christian Pulisic, 20, Dahoud carried on the move, before the ball eventually fell to Witsel, whose shot took a big deflection before finding the net.

Atletico boss Simeone brought on a fresh pair of legs in midfield for the second half, taking off Thomas Partey and bringing on Rodri.

The visitors showed how dangerous they can be by driving forward with real purpose and midfielder Saul Niguez crashed a shot off the woodwork on 53 minutes with Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Burki well beaten.

Borussia were living dangerously, but a good spell midway through the second half, with Witsel in the thick of things, turned the game the hosts’ way.

Achraf Hakimi on loan from Real Madrid, got in the way of a Marco Reus run into the area, but the 19-year-old soon made amends by laying on the second goal with 17 minutes to go.

The left-back got in behind his man and fired in a low cross that Reus missed, but Guerreiro stabbed past Oblak.

At the other end, Burki only denied Atletico winger Angel Correa, on for Niguez, with the help of the post.

Dortmund sealed the win when Hakimi did the damage again, charging into the area and teeing up Sancho to tap home their third goal on 83 minutes.

And it turned into a rout when Guerreiro snapped up a loose pass from Felipe Luis and fired past Oblak with a minute remaining.

Angry residents ostracize Ekiti monarch

Violence has rocked Ilogbo-Ekiti in Ido/Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti State as the residents have chased the Owa, Oba Edward Ajayi, and members of his family out of the town.

The angry subjects accused the Owa of Ilogbo-Ekiti of aiding and abetting cultism in the community.

They alleged that many of them were attacked by suspected secret cult members led by a son of the traditional ruler, Adeleye Ajayi.

The Ilogbo residents claimed that the attack by the suspected cultists led to the death of a boy in the community.

An indigene of Ilogbo, who spoke with reporters in Ado-Ekiti on condition of anonymity, said the community had reported the alleged activities of the monarch’s son to his father whom they accused of not taking any action.

Another resident of the community claimed that Adeleye was expelled from a university in Ondo State for alleged cultism-related activities about five years ago.

“The prince and his group has been terrorizing our community with the shield and protection of the palace.

“The people were forced to violence because of failure of the Oba to put his child and his group under check, the death of the boy sparked the riot.

“Sacred trees usually cut when a king dies have since been cut down while the palace and Oba’s cars were vandalized.

“Seven persons, including the Oba’s son have been arrested in connection with the incident, while the body of the boy killed has been deposited in the mortuary.”

Oba Ajayi could not be reached for his reaction at press time as his phone was switched off.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Caleb Ikechukwu, confirmed the arrest of the suspects, adding that the incident was still under
investigation.
