The Saturday Kickabout - Women's Final at Wimbledon [Local sport]

This weekend Steve Robertson and Dan Westram had the latest news from the Women's Final at Wimbledon as the Williams sisters carried out their domination of this year's event. The winning sister this time was 29 year old Serena who beat Venus 7-6 (7-3) 6-2 and regained the title she won in 2002 and 2003.

We also had something to cheer for the British and Irish Lions as they finished their tour of South Africa with dominating performance. The final score at Ellis Park - South Africa 9-28 Lions.

Dan brought us the latest football transfer news in the week that had news of Michael Owen's surprise move to Manchester United. It was also a busy week on the transfer front for both local football as both Brentwood and Billericay made some changes. Billericay have confirmed the signing of Romford born striker Chris Sullivan, who has moved from AFC Wimbledon. Brentwood Town announced five new signings during the week. Players Steve Heffer, Tim Cole and Paul Shave have been signed from Billericay Town, who will join midfielder Lee Williams from East Thurrock United. Winger Bradley Barnes was signed from Aveley.

It was good news in local cricket with Brentwood aiming to extend their lead as they played second placed Chelmsford at the Old County Ground. Brentwood bowled Chelmsford out for 240, in response scoring 242 for 5 and winning by 5 wickets. It was a good match for the clubs overseas player, Sri Lankan Kasun Bodhisha, scoring 90 runs.

We Heart Hafdis! [Eat My Lunch]

On Eat my Lunch this week we had some great guests in the studio. Kelly Bickford came in on Wednesday to talk about Churches Together and their free BBQs in the High Street this week. Veggie Burgers were delicious.

Angie and Nicola from the Brentwood Catholic Theatre Club were in on Thursday to talk about their annual drama festival at Brentwood Theatre in October. To find out how to enter contact Angie on angela.marshall45@talktalk.net by the end of July.

Also on Thursday I had the chance to talk to Icelandic singer Hafdis Huld who's current single Kongulo is in the charts and on our playlist. Hafids is currently Number One in Iceland and has a new album coming out in September. We've been playing a new track from the album on the show called Winter Sun (Let It Go)

This week on Centre Ground (2nd July) was supposed to be dedicated to punk after three hard weeks of political guests and interviews. This week, just 24 hours after the sad passing of Pop Legend Michael Jackson, we played several songs in tribute to the King of Pop, including an exclusive Megamix of his album Thriller's hits, and my personal favourite Jacko track, Stranger in Moscow.

We also talked movies, games and Wimbledon, with action on the grass of SW19 switching to that in Malmo, where England's U21 side battled back from 3-0 up to concede three in the second half....! (That was after I had pronounced them certs to win in normal time, but hey, we won through on penalties!!)
