Much anticipated Dell tablet know as Streak, Now has an official price tag. Starting as early as this coming Thursday(12th), Dell Streak will be available for $299( with a two-year AT&T contract).

iPhone4 : FaceTime over 3G

If you know iPhone4, then you must know about FaceTime. FaceTime is video calling service over Wi-Fi Only and available only via iPhone4 to iPhone4. But wait you can change the way it is done, you just have to jailbreak it.
Since the release of official Jailbreak, less than 24 hours, FaceTime has already been tricked into working over 3G connections. It’s made possibly by My3G, its app ofcourse a jailbreak app which tricks your iPhone into thinking it’s a Wi-Fi instead of 3G. There are several other limitations which also get lifted like low-res you tube videos or the 20 MB download limit on the app store. With this wonderful feature unlocked due to jailbreaking, people might want to think a little about jail breaking their device, but that’s not recommended.
As FaceTime is only meant to work exceptionally well on Wi-Fi rather than the 3G network, and also you will have to drop $2.99 on Cydia or $3.99 on Rock( after a free trial). Still you might wonder, if it actually performs upto your expectations.
My advice is to have your Phone, as Original as it was when you bought it, enjoy its premium features rather than moving towards jail-breaking it.

As far as the reports are concerned JailBreakMe does indeed work properly, but the website offering this service is severely slammed by number of users. if you want to jailbreak then will have to wait until the stampede it over.

after this jalbreak you can access the forbidden apps like Cydia. also it is reported that you can break into FaceTime and MMS.

Finally, Jailbreak your iPhone at your own risk, this doesn’t means it will slow down your device, but if you care about your warranty then you shouldn't try this.

UAE telecommunications : BlackBerry services to be suspend

The UAE telecommunications is suspending some of the messaging and web services on blackberry smart phones, a day after it warned the device could pose a potential threat to the national. this news broke-out on the Sunday.

The Suspension date is announced as October 11. The problem arise from the fact that blackberry devices automatically send the user’s data to servers overseas, which means its violating the local law’s. This kind of transfer is only associated with blackberry devices, while the other phones can access the email and other web services.

When a device perform such encrypted action which is strictly against the law. which also makes harder for the analysts and also for the authorities to monitor.

With no solution available and in the public interest, in order to effect resolution of this issue, as of October 11, 2010, Blackberry Messenger, Blackberry E-mail and Blackberry Web-browsing services will be suspended until an acceptable solution can be developed and applied

Telecommunications Regulatory Authority director-general Mohamed al-Ghanim said in a statement.

Regulators said they had failed to reach an agreement with device maker Research in Motion on the issue.

The TRA notes that Blackberry appears to be compliant in similar regulatory environments of other countries, which makes noncompliance in the UAE both disappointing and of great concern

judicial, social and national security concerns for the UAE

he added.

Now, its up to the Blackberry to respond appropriately to the situation, and its also a wake up call for other smart phones in UAE.

The Samsung i8520 also known as Galaxy beam was officially launched in Singapore on 17th July. The main feature of this phone is a built in WVGA projector which can project upto 50 inches. The projector can be along the camera which directly projects the stuff in front of the camera .

iPhone4 available from October in India

iPhone 4 is all set to launch in india this october. An Airtel executive recently confirmed to Reuters that the company is planning to launch iPhone4 in India but around the September or October.

but there’s isn’t any price mentioned but it will obviously cost you more that a mid range of a laptop. It is also not known if Apple / Airtel will offer free bumpers to iPhone 4 owners in India.

Vodafone which is only other cellular operator that sells the iPhone in India has not confirmed their own launch dates yet, but still you are freak enough to buy one, don’t mind paying the premium, there’s always the unofficial route – buy a locked iPhone 4 from US and unlock it on your own or get one from either the UK or Canada. Apple is ‘officially’ selling unlocked iPhones in these countries and therefore they’ll work out-of-the-box with any GSM (micro) SIM.

Skype well known for voice over internet calls, with superior call quality rate has a new update in the iPhone stream. Now Skype also supports multi tasking capabiliities of iOS. i.e you dont have to keep the application open all the time just so that you dont want to miss the calls.

Since its just few weeks, iOs launched to the multitasking masses and today, the dream of always on skype becomes a reality. Skype really steped up to the situation and updated its application support to iOS capabilities. Incoming call while the app isn't in view? you'll see a prompt.

You can also move-into another application while on a call? Its no problem now, The skype call will continue.

Now you dont have to worry, they dropped that idea, but the skype to non skype calls will be the same. hence regardless of any network you are using skype users will be able to have their conversations.

Apple iPhone 4 Conference Update

Today, Apple’s CEO steve Jobs at the headquarters in Cupertino, took the stage to address the iPhone 4 antenna issue. As Apple has special style of presentation which always begins with a updates like stats etc. nearly 3 million.

The iPhone 4 is perhaps the best product we’ve ever made at Apple. We’ve sold well over 3 million since we launched it 3 weeks ago. It’s been judged the number 1 smartphone…

After a few stats showcase, the conference started on the reception issue. Jobs made sure that he want to see people happy by providing the best product, showed the love towards his valuable customers. Hence to make his customer happy, there are few announcements. the first as expected, Apple will be providing a free bumpers and cases to all iPhone 4 users. and anyone who buys an iPhone 4 through September will get a case for free. He also noted that anyone who has already bought an iPhone 4 will get one for free. and if anyone has already bought one of Apple’s bumpers, Apple will refund the cost.
Job’s also stated that they can’t make their own bumpers so fast enough to match the requirement. So what next ? Apple will be giving away other third party cases if users wants. That’s cool.
And if after this, he is unable to make the customer a bit happier than before, there is a straight forward return offer, the user can return the iPhone at anytime in the first 30 days after purchase with no restocking fee.

Antennagate
Jobs started out with a light hearted youtube video about the Antennagate and says.

It doesnt seem like a good thing if you can touch your phone in a certain way and it loses signal,

The company has been working on the problem for 22 days. and desperately trying to solve the problem, he also compared his product with the other products in the smartphone race. taking a point that its not unique to the iPhone 4. Job’s demonstrated how other phones (including a Blackberry 9700, an HTC Droid Eris, and a Smasung Omnia) have the same reception issues when gripped tightly.

We haven’t figured out a way around the laws of physics. Yet.

Another announcement made today was related to the white iPhone 4. The White iPhone 4 will be soon shiped at the end of July. Apple delayed the already-late white iPhone 4s just so they could better engineer a solution. Lets see the result at the end of the month.

1.7 Million iPhone 4 Sold in the First 3 Days

1.7 million iPhone4 were sold out since its launch on June 24 in just 3 days, This is announced officially by Apple Inc.
“This is the most successful product launch in Apple’s history. Even so, we apologize to those customers who were turned away because we did not have enough supply,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO.

This is really a great achievement when compared to the sales of apple’s iphone in the second quarter of 2010 which was 8.75 million, and the estimate which was made earlier by Oppenheimer’s Yair Reine, who guessed that apple sold about 1.5 millions iphones on the launch day alone including the pre-orders.
Now with the increasing amount of complaint rising high about the reception, Lets see what apple does to maintain its reputation and sales.

iPhone 4’s Reception Issue?

The much awaited iPhone 4 is now in the hands of millions of users, Apple Newest smartphone also the world’s thinnest smartphone is now surrounded by critical issues regarding the reception of the wireless signals.

Even steve jobs responded to the situation stating that the user of the phone shouldn’t hold the phone wrongly, instead buy a case. Another critical issue is about the latest retina display technology which is first arrived in iPhone, giving the user better viewing experience than any other phone in the market. The problem in the display is many users have reported that there is a yellow discoloration which seems to be the biggest among the two issues right now.
How could the manufacturer of the phone miss such big problems ? that too the company which is highly reputed and obsessive with the quality of the its products.
Another opinion from spencer webb, an antenna designer. Here’s what he says:

“The iPhone 4 has two symmetrical slots in the stainless frame. If you short these slots, or cover them with your hand, the antenna performance will suffer … There is no way around this, it’s a design compromise that is forced by the requirements of the FCC, AT&T, Apple’s marketing department and Apple’s industrial designers, to name a few.”

If this is the case, then Apple knew about the issue long ago, but decided that it was an acceptable trade-off. We’d agree, but we want to know the most common ways the typical user holds his or her phone first.

Apple Inc. has introduced a smart software which actually locates your lost iPhone, iPod Touch or an iPad. You just have to install an app known as “Find my iPhone”. the app is offered free of charge.
Firstly you have to install this application on your device and then when you lost your device then just sign in with your login credentials and the app will display the location of the device in a Map. you can configure the app to display a message or assign a tone to play. you can even lock your files but before you can do this you have to register yourself on MobileMe and turn on the feature of Find my iPhone on each device you want to locate.
This smart application require a MobileMe Subscription, you can get the details for sign-up for free 60 day trial. it also requires iOS 3.1.3 or later.
