Currently I'm in love with these Malvasia sweet wines, it's the perfect for summer time.

Lanzarote farmers have dug thousands of small hollows into the 1½ metre thick layer of ‘picón’ (porous volcanic granules that trap moisture) and planted vines in the volcanic ash that lies beneath. In order to protect the Vines from the Trade Winds, they have then built small semi-circular walls around each of these hollows. Despite Lanzarote's arid climate, the picon layer is able to trap enough moisture from the Trade Winds to feed the vines ...

The Golden Gai is a number of really small alleys filled with tiny bars that can acommodate no more than a dozen of regular drinkers. Many of the establishments are very unfriendly to the casual visitor and could charge you a excessive bill among the frosty welcome.

I read somewhere that, in the 1980s, when the yakuza, Japan's crime syndicate, was torching properties to sell the land to big-thinking developers, Golden Gai's supporters took turns guarding the area each night.

I consider myself a moderately geeky person: work as a software developer, enjoy electronic gadgets, maintain my own website with a slightly modified version of pixel-post ... just the same as most of you. If I have harware/sofware problems, normally I'm able to solve it by myself: reading documentation, using google, reading user forums ... there're lot of ways if you really make an effort.Marta is opposite to me (except gadget addiction, we share this!): she works with computers but someone (sometimes me) install and configure her software, don't read user forums and don't know nothing about manuals, firmwares, etc. ... just the same as most of you. When she have harware/software problems normally she ask me and usually they get solved.Why I'm telling you this? last week our iPod 'died', I follow all the geeky steps I know with no results, then Marta took her chance, she ask me about the ‘buttons to press’, I told her not to waste her time, the iPod hard drive is dead! ... but she insist and I explain all the steps to her. Can you imagine what happened? ... after some tries the iPod came back to life.The worst is that it's the second time she 'repair' this iPod and nows she's mocking on me ... perhaps Apple stuff it's to easy for me ;-) btw I don't worry because it's worth every penny.Take a look at the large size version of the iPod screen photo.

According to the legend, the Celeste River it's blue because God after painting the skies cleaned its brushes in those waters ... but according to the chemists a chemical reaction between copper sulfate and sulfur of Buena Vista and Quebrada Acida rivers makes the color.

But seeing how the waters turn blue just when they pass over some white rocks, was something incredible more than a simple chemical reaction.

It's highly recomendable the 5:00 am Tour, we enjoy the wildlife and nature of this natural paradise. Yes, it's too early but all the animals except mosquitoes get up more or less at this time ;-)

I hate to disappoint you, but neither David Hasselhoff nor Pamela Anderson were on this beach.

Local businesses have pitched in to pay for lifeguards on Playa Cocles. Locals known it as Beach Break because there is no coral reef and the waves break directly on the beach.

Less than one percent of Costa Rica inhabitans are indigenous, Bribri are a small indigenous tribe, around 2,500 members, living in the Talamanca canton inside of the Limón province in Costa Rica, for thousands of years these people have lived in harmony with wildlife and nature. Agriculture is their main activity and at present the very unique practice of iguana farming.
The Bribris have their own language and a rich culture, orally transmitted from generation to generation, that has been molded over thousands of years and nowadays remained relatively untouched by western civilization.
I want to thank Timoteo (I'm not sure but I think that this is his name) and their family for amiably received us in their house, we talk about Bribri culture and the actual problems of indigenous people in Costa Rica.

Long time since my last post, sorry but I've been occupied in a lot of different things ... like summer holidays.

Puerto Viejo is a small village of the Limón province in the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. Most of its residents are Afro-Caribbean (mostly Jamaican) ancestry. They came here, by own initiative, near 1872 to work in the construction of the railroad to the Pacific and in the bananeras plantations of the United Fruit Company.

Besides Spanish they speak an English creole known as Mekatelyu, a transliteration of the phrase May I tell you.

I've never been in Jamaica, but here, you can feel the Jamaican way of life, everything is in slow motion.

I drank this one -to be true I don't remember clearly if I photographed the first or the second jar ...- but my drink aptitudes isn't the important part, this 'touristic' restaurant known as Novoměstský Pivovar (beware!! you must turn the sound-off) has a nice food and a very good beer, they brew their own beer twice a month, so it freshly and free of preservatives. The worst part is that the same person that sings on the web-site is performing live jam-sessions on the restaurant, but with the second beer everything goes fine ...

This is one of the other things that can be done in Valladolid, if you don't like Procesiones during Holy Week. At least it until the existences run out. This is one of the weirdest "glasses" on which I ever drink a beer, it was a "Coconut Mongozo", yes it's rare and normally I don't like this kind of fruity beers, but I like this one ... perhaps was the coconut "cup" (I'm very influence able). Now I'm eager, I need to taste the rest of the Mongozo Exotic beers.

I don't know why but I love prague streets signs, I've come with a many photos of these plates. This is Jiřská street inside the walls of the Prague castle, I like the yellow tones of the wall and how work with the red plate and the stones of the pavement.

Last weeks has been ones of the the busiest in the last months, without free time to work on my photos,but luckily I've been able to made a few. A short than expected bussines trip to Prague, let me with an extra free day.
Now I have a lot of photos, from Cordoba and Prague, to review and post, so many that makes me a little bit lazy.

This is an antiquarian shop in Nerudoba Street, just in the heart of Malá Strana neighborhood, the area is full of baroque palaces, some of them with peculiar blazoned facades. Here we have two of them, on the left a 'Medusa' head from the greek mythology and in the center what I suppose to be the 'Holy Grail'.

Inside the *Living Seas* pavilion of EPCOT, there is a tank full of Jellyfishes, I've been always attracted by underwater live (perhaps it's due to the marvellous Captain Cousteau TV documentaries).

These persons were walking the Indoor Labyrinth of the Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. We saw the cathedral all the mornings when leaving the hotel but until the last day we didn't get it.

There are many ways to describe a labyrinth. It is a path of prayer, a walking meditation, a crucible of change, a watering hole for the spirit and a mirror of the soul.

After getting tired of my previous project I decided to start up a new one. This time I want to have all the control in my hands so it was time to buy a domain and use one of this open source scripts that make easy build your own photo blog and portfolio. After an arduous searching for a cool name --actually that was the most difficult part- and configuring the scripts here we are, ready to hit the net!This photo was taken last summer in the Tea house of the Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park.
