This Week: After Hours at the Museum
I did not have very much time to take pictures since I was mostly playing hostess. When I thought about this meet-up this was the one photo that I was hoping to get. I was rushed while taking this, and maybe one day I'll have a chance to take it again, but for now I'm happy with it. This is the Cullen Hall of Gems and Minerals. The hall has over 750 examples of gems and minerals. It is my favorite part of the museum.

This Week: After Hours at the Museum
This is the Hall of the Americas. I had never even visited this section before a few weeks ago. It covers indigenous people from Alaska all the way to Peru. This was a special opportunity because this is one section of the museum that does not normally allow photography.

Dinosaurs are the rock star at any museum and HMNS is no exception. Especially for photographers that get a chance to take photos without people in the way as you can see here.

This Week: After Hours at the Museum
The Flickr group Assignment: Houston had the opportunity to photograph in the Houston Museum of Natural Science last weekend after the museum closed. The meet-up (of which I was co-organizer) was a big success with over 100 photographers in attendance. This week we will look at my favorite type of photograph which I still have problems describing. Fixed structures is the closest I've come. This is the grand lobby of the museum.

This Week: Hodge Podge
I love the composites that come across Heather Champ's photostream. This is my first attempt and boy do I have a lot of learning to do! I didn't really plan the overlap well, I took too many photos and I since I don't know photoshop well it probably took me longer than other people to put it together. But they sure are fun so I will be trying again.

This is Tookie's, a hamburger joint in Seabrook, Texas. I've heard about their burgers for a long time, but this was the first time that I made a visit. This is the piggyback which is a double meat burger. The patty in this particular burger is special because it has bacon mixed in to the meat. It gave the burger a wonderful flavor.

This Week: Hodge Podge
This week is a collection of photos from some of my random wanderings around Houston.

In June I attended a convention for women educators that was held in the Woodlands. The Woodlands is a master planned community north of Houston. The waterway is a recent addition to the community. This is a beautiful community and I imagine a really great place to live except for that whole pesky long commute. For some people it is probably worth it. For me, I'm a city gal.
