The latest, and perhaps final, monument on the National Mall. The brilliant sculpture of Martin Luther King, Jr. as the great American and Civil Rights leader looks across the Tidal Basin facing the Jefferson Memorial. Despite the controversy surrounding the Production materials and the nationality of the sculpture the monument stands tall as a testament to the greatest of the man and more importantly his ideas.

Yesterday, I took my Nikkor 70-300mm lens (105-450mm on my Nikon D7000) to Washington, DC’s, National Zoo. Before I left, the temperature rose to scorching, and walking on the mostly shade-less paths became an act of sheer will. Nevertheless, I like the results with which I came home.
