American Girls is a series of portraits of girls in America who own American Girl dolls. American Girl dolls are extremely popular toys for girls in America. Their design embodies contemporary cultural values. They were conceived as “anti-Barbie” toys modeled after the body of a nine year old.

Each doll can be customized to look exactly like its owner, yet all of them really look the same. American Girl dolls offer an illusion of choice therefore an illusion of individuality. The dolls become sculptural representations of the girls themselves, they become their twins, their avatars. With a wide variety of miniature accessories, a doll hospital, a doll hair salon with personal stylists, they are perhaps the most luxurious toys ever invented.

David Benjamin Sherry is an American Artist based in New York City. Sherry works primarily with photography, exploring color through a mixture landscape and studio work. Sherry's work varies from landscape and studio photography, to collage and sculpture, often with a heavy focus on color. Working with analogue film and printing techniques "the use of anachronistic, primitive methods reflects a concern with craft, introducing the hand of the artist into a medium most commonly associated with mechanical reproduction." Sherry's work often merges human and natural subjects, creating images in which landscapes take on anthropomorphic qualities and the humans in them become part of the landscape, as opposed to inhabitants. His most recent show Astral Desert, at Salon 94 gallery in New York City explores the topography of the desert and American West through multiple processes pushing photography to a "chromatic extreme."

After moving to London and working as a studio assistant, Andrea Giacobbe studied photography for two years at the Bournemouth & Poole College of Art & Design. Since the early nineties, whether as original fashion spreads or as iconic portraiture, his photography has appeared in numerous magazines including The Face, Dazed & Confused, Citizen K, Spin, Marie Claire, Donna, Flaunt, Photo, Ray Gun, and The New York Times Magazine. Additionally, he has signed several print campaigns for clients such as Nike and Diesel.

His film work began in1996, with a 60 second short, written and directed for the program "Tracks" on the Euro channel Arte, and still airing weekly.

Andrea's motion work also includes award-winning music videos, a short film, and a number of commercials.

In 2002, he was part of the group exhibition "Archeology of Elegance 1980-2000 : twenty years of fashion photography" at Deichtorhallen, in Hamburg, and his work is featured in book publications including "The Impossible Image" (Mark Sanders – Phaidon Press, 2000) and "Archeology of Elegance" (Marion de Beaupre – Rizzoli, 2002).

Andrea was born in Florence, Italy, where he lived until his early teens. Since, he has lived, studied and worked in the United States, the UK, Italy and France. He is now based in Paris, where he continues his work.

Born in Philadelphia, Steve McCurry graduated cum laude from the College of Arts and Architecture at the Pennsylvania State University. His career was launched when, disguised in native garb, he crossed the Pakistan border into rebel-controlled Afghanistan just before the Russian invasion. Tim is an acclaimed photographer from Solana Beach, southern California. He specializes in visual communication and advertising photography, making highly stylized, unique and powerful images which draw the viewer to the center of the action. His photos have often featured in well-known media ad campaigns for multinational brands like Coca-Cola, Budweiser and Adidas, among others.
Tim chose to work with triads of colors because he felt that the color adds greater visual interest and makes the images look arresting and amusing at the same time. Tim also tried his own head, but unfortunately was too hairy.
