The art of Hacking focuses on the artistic side of hacking. The artists in this exhibition highlight the imperfections of our surroundings and daily lives. The projects subvert, improve on or circumnavigate ‘official’ systems and practices and offer alternatives. Superficially, hacking is often associated with spreading online viruses and other digital attacks. Officially these criminal activities are not really known as hacking, but as ‘cracking’. The real practice of hacking is done based on far more positive and artistic motives. It’s a state of mind and there are elaborate ethical codes within the hacker community.

In short creative hacking combines artists’ technical skills with the optimism to solve problems and the urge to overcome artistic limitations. The basis for these works lies in a technical, online methodology that spreads into the physical world through the tangibility of the artworks.

With works by Heath Bunting, Harmen de Hoop, moddr_, Cornelia Sollfrank, hoax geniuses, The Yes Men and ÜBERMORGEN.COM.

The exhibition Museum of Parallel Narratives presents a selection of works from the Arteast 2000+ Collection of the Moderna galerija in Ljubljana, the first-ever collection of postwar avant-garde Eastern European art, and seeks to discover what sort of art system, if any, accompanied the production, presentation and musealisation of these artworks.

Museum of Parallel Narratives speaks of artists who worked on the edges of a well-ordered world and its art system, and, indeed, addresses its own position at the edge of an era that has seen an acceleration in the establishment of an art system in the space that can still be justifiably called 'Eastern Europe'. The exhibition is also connected with the principal idea behind the wide-ranging project, L'Internationale, of which it forms a part.

Commemorating the 80th birthday of legendary Austrian author Thomas Bernhard, WestLicht presents the exhibition 'Das Führt Alles Zu Nix'.

The exhibition shows around 120 photographs by Sepp Dreissinger, taken between 1977 and 1988 and 12 black and white portraits by Johann Barth. Both photographers portray the literary legend, author of poems, stories, novels and drama in an intimate and sensitive way.

The day-working self-appointed voice of the city of Vienna has the curfew period, the local clock to 4.00 and lowered, thus making a clear statement against the Viennese night scene.

After all, many night-makers, promote the Viennese economy to a considerable extent, want to take part in their social network and will not be forgotten, in the darkness of the night!

Without knowing about the relevance and negative consequences of such aconservative curfew notice will result only in recent years created positive momentum from the local club scene nipped in the bud. Linked to lose the city of Vienna will be lost as potential European trend metropolis of credibility and tourism resulting effects.

"We demand an open cooperation, a cooperation where none is excluded and cooperation of the same rights and obligations, "said copy_paste about the idea for the video.

Armand van Helden & A-Track Duck Sauce themself support this project in their frame

"We do not want to be locked out," is the tenor of the video, which was created in collaboration with watchful minds of Vienna under the name copy_paste.

Stated aim is to enable the local and club operators in Vienna, to be allowed to choose their own curfew! That is what this project is standing for ...

The Future Gallery in cooperation with Gentili Apri is proud to present the exhibition Post Internet Survival Guide as part of transmediale 11 Response:Ability festival and DAS Weekend. Featuring works ranging from sculpture to interactive installation by: Lorenzo Bernet & Yannic Joray, Sam Hancocks, Martin Kohout, Oliver Laric, Christian Oldham, Aude Pariset, Tabor Robak, Timur Si-Qin, Micah Schippa, Kate Steciw and Damon Zucconi. This exhibition coincides with the release of Katja Novitskova's book Post Internet Survival Guide 2010.

Post Internet Survival Guide is a survival kit to the ocean of signs that is Internet and the reality beyond. Focusing on art created and distributed online during the year 2010 - in the times of Photoshop CS5, Facebook, Tumblr and iPad - it suggests the abilities and moreover the tools necessary to navigate and understand the web - a skill crucial to our survival today.
