God, give me a sign.

I was replacing an old dishwasher recently. The thoughts that had been haunting me about one specific situation in my life seemed to all attack at once. Staring at both dishwashers, side-by-side, the old and the new ( I now see a deep metaphor with the washers and the situation), I challenged God.

What I thought – “Why aren’t you listening? Why am I in a situation that You led me into? Why? If you want me to continue, then give me a sign! Anything!”

As I internally whined, I checked my phone for calls and email.

An email had arrived from a listing we had on Craig’s List re: our garage sale (happening at the time of the dishwashers).

Do you have a white dishwasher for sale?

I had not advertised anything remotely about a dishwasher.

That was it.

Loud and Clear, God.

Gene Autry is famous for singing, ‘Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer’…But he also had a greatest hits record, the title sums up exactly where I am at in focus, life, and in God.

Never say never.

Lesson learned. I said ‘never’ after playing Klein’s Jazzy Cats. Great pickups, and under wound.

Yet, when compared to a friend’s strat loaded with Klein Epic ’59′s…yikes.
Mine had some great bite in the upper register, but the mids were truly gone, and the bass was lacking.

Sometimes, comparison is revealing of what is missing.

These are unbelievably sweet pickups. The bottom has returned, the mids quack, the highs shimmer.

The roar has been restored. The D. Allen’s stay, and the Klein Jazzy Cats must be sold.

Not the TubeScreamer copy you might have expected…Starting with the construction, this is built like a tank. ’nuff said.

The sound of this run through a clean amp is the close to a power tube breakup that I’ve heard.

Nice and cheap, check it out as a complement to the TubeScreamer.

I received the Vintage 20 model from Vintage Sound Amps – based off of the Fender Black-faced Princeton. It’s a handwired, point to point, class A/B, 6L6 or 6V6, tube rectifier, tube tremolo and reverbed pack of awesomeness.

The packing around this amp was second to none. Once you dig past that, it’s just an amp. A gloriously sweet amp.

Playing my strat without and with a drive pedal, was so much fun…just add band.

Looking forward to hearing what some buddies think about it once they sink their teeth in as well.

All I see is old lava and overpriced coffee.
…and tiny horses.
