Discipline of the Mind-Programming

As I read my Bible, searched the internet and read other Christian books to understand the human mind, I was filled with awe and praised God for creating the human brain. These three months we are learning together the biblical perspective of the human mind as follows:

1. Purpose of the mind

2. Programming of the mind

3. Protection of the mind

Last month we concluded that the purpose of the human mind is to have the mind of Christ (1 Cor. 2:16). As we meditate on the “programming of the mind” this month, let us answer the question, “What is

Discipline of the Gospel

“God planned for us to do good things and to live as He has always wanted us to live. That’s why He sent Christ to make us what we are” (Eph. 2:10 CEV).

Discipline of the Gospel: This will give us the knowledge of God’s purpose in recreating us in Christ.
Discipline of mind: This will give us all the resources needed to fulfill God’s purpose.
Discipline of good deeds: This will enable us to use God’s resources to fulfill His purpose.

It is God’s purpose for each one of us to live in fellowship with Him. But that relationship was broken because of sin. (Please read Genesis 2, 3)

As I meditated on the word “Gospel” three questions came to my mind:

What is the Gospel?
What does the Gospel do to me?
What does the Gospel do through me?

Last month we meditated on the first question: What is the Gospel?

I received two wonderful and thought provoking responses. I still urge you to send your answers to the first question.

This month, let us ponder and answer the question: What does the Gospel do to me?

This news is always refreshing. If I should answer the question; what is the gospel? The first thing that comes to mind is that it is the good news that brings hope to all of humanity.

As you know, each month we send a prayer teaching from Rita, our prayer leader in Bangalore, India. This month Rita brings us an especially encouraging word and I hope you will let it sink deep down into your heart and soul. Remember, it’s not as important who you are, as Whose you are. You and I are His masterpiece!
