"Enterprise Reversal" is the ambitious 22 track debut album from Wetdog, a band that is quickly gaining a reputation as one of London's most exciting prospects. Wetdog are three ice cool females – Rivka on vocal squalls and minimalist guitar, Billy with her cropped hair and intimidating, fancy bass, Sarah with her decadent cheekbones and single-minded drum beat self-produced, the album is an uncompromising 40 minutes of scratchy, angular, often weird music, and yet retains a pop heart. Mesmerising three part harmonies sit atop abrasive beats and twitching spidery guitar lines to stunning effect. Taking cues from The Slits, Wire, The Raincoats and 60s pop, Wetdog de-construct pop songs and reassemble them in the wrong order.

Ltd LP - ARC037 - £12.99 - NOT OUT UNTIL MONDAY!
Limited edition - 400 copies on bright green vinyl!
basket : wish list

CD - ARC037CD - £9.99 - NOT OUT UNTIL MONDAY!
basket : wish list
Since a heroic entrance and confused reception last year with their disjointed angular sludge album "...Ma", Vile Imbeciles took shelter amidst simultaneous storms of abuse and praise and reached into their now colossal archive of unreleased material. With the struggle of creation splitting them into a four piece, they return with an element of simplicity in their stride. Incomprehensively, they have learnt to harness their surreal and purposefully crippled musical intent into a pulsating, natural intelligence. This is an act that came less from necessity than from virtuosity, and the mutual hatred of marginalisation. Andy Huxley is probably best well known – though perhaps to his displeasure – for his stint as founder member and main songwriter of 80s Matchbox B-Line Disaster, who by some miracle were actually a chart band. James Hair left East Anglia's glorious fens at the tender age of 18 and headed to the capital to make an unholy bass rumble with young London upstarts Neil's Children.

CD - TEALP001 - £10.99
basket : wish list

"Sticks And Stones" is taken from their forthcoming album which was recorded in Seattle at the dawn of 2008 with renowned producer John Goodmanson at its helm. It sees them gain maturity without sacrificing their angular, noisy leanings; described by the NME as 'dark French post-rock that sounds like Pixies covering "Psychocandy".

Ltd 7" - 948TP7 - £1.99 - NOT OUT UNTIL MONDAY!
Limited edition heavy weight 7" including a free CD version.
basket : wish list
U2's third album, again lovingly remastered by The Edge, was the one where they started to get up peoples' noses a bit! And not just the cool brigade. Bono's ego seemed to be taking over and there was flag waving, PA-climbing ('like a soddin' mountain goat', according to The Bunnymen's Ian McCullough!) and some cack-handed political posturing. Still reading this?! Good! Because this record also contains some amazing songs. Not one, but three world-classics this time ("Sunday Bloody Sunday", "40" and of course "New Year's Day") a funkier bottom end, and one amazing lesser known tune ("Seconds") that was revived in 89 as a Balearic monster and still endures to this day! See, there's a place for U2 somewhere in every music-lovers' heart!

LP - 176 1674 - £13.99 - limited cheap price - NOT OUT UNTIL MONDAY!
The album version is pressed on 180gm virgin vinyl.
basket : wish list
Like the previous year's record, U2's second album opens with a song that can still be regarded as a classic: "Gloria" is an incredible track and sounds even better, of course, on this Edge remaster. From there on in the album is a small step on, with eerie Celtic e-bow a stunning addition on "Tomorrow", and the gorgeous title track a sometimes overlooked gem. There is a beautiful, drifting melancholy throughout, and when Bono gets emotive, there's such a youthful honesty here that you can't help but believe in him. This is the sound of a young band trying to bust out of Ireland; there's no cheese, corn or bullshit! "October" is simply a fantastic record.

LP - 176 1679 - £13.99 - limited cheap price - NOT OUT UNTIL MONDAY!
The album version is pressed on 180gm virgin vinyl.
basket : wish list
Following the re-mastered release of The Joshua Tree last year, Edge has overseen a similar re-mastering of "Boy", from the original audio tapes. This 1980 disc is where it all began, and if you were to leave preconceptions at the door, you'd hear a young band just high on musical ambition. They had the passion, belief and sincerity of punk, but this was decidedly post-punk, so you get doomy (gothy?) atmospherics, chiming, reverb-heavy guitars, and a wide-eyed attempt to stretch out and create something beautiful. They achieved it!

LP - 176 1671 - £13.99 - limited cheap price - NOT OUT UNTIL MONDAY!
The album version is pressed on 180gm virgin vinyl.
basket : wish list
"U.S. EZ" is the fourth long-player in the Sic Alps canon (excluding the recent singles comp CD, "A Long Way Around To A Shortcut"), and their first for the Siltbreeze label. The duo of Mike Donovan and Matt Hartman outdo themselves here and it is the most fully realized Sic Alps release to date. "U.S. EZ" knows perfectly well what it means to be high and inside. It's not just baseball jargon anymore. If you've been jonesin' for an LP that calls to mind equal parts Bob Markley and Uli Trepte, then look no further, mein düden (und düdetten). "U.S. EZ" is the virtual brick of Berlin / Big Sur hash we've all been waiting to break into. The ominous death's head fez has now been ensconced in a witchy Naugahyde bonnet, thus levelling the playing field for both the psychedelically challenged and the itinerant avant garde.

CD - SB98CD - £11.99
basket : wish list

More specifically it nods at 1988 when indie really was indie - half a decade before Britpop broke the bank and a century away from the alternative rock kaboomtime of the new millennium.
"Beautiful Future" is Primal Scream's tenth album release and their first for B-Unique. As you would expect from one of Britain's most exciting and inventive bands "Beautiful Future" displays a heady mix of genre crunching taking in Philly soul, dark electro, accelerated rock n roll riffs and pure British pop all given that particular Scream edge. Highlights include the single "Can't Go Back", which is the kind of high energy rock n roll the band excel at, all kinetic drum beats and scuzzy guitar riffs, everything moving at methamphetamine rate. Elsewhere, there's a duet with CSS' Lovefoxxx, "I Love To Hurt (You Love To Be Hurt)" that's full of shivering electro pulses and tense, claustrophobic rhythms. Lovefoxx isn't the only guest to appear on the album, joining Bobby on a duet of Fleetwood Mac's "Over And Over" is legendary British folk singer Linda Thompson, while Queens Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme contributes guitar to the album's closing track "Necro Hex Blues".

Ltd CD - 5144 29429 2 - £12.99 - limited cheap price - NOT OUT UNTIL MONDAY!
The limited edition digipack version, containing three extra tracks.
basket : wish list

They are an incredibly prolific band and have featured on many compilations and also released a tape EP. Plus they still have another three albums worth of songs written already and continue to churn them out from their cellar at home. Already well established within the Leeds music scene with a constant run of gigs supporting the likes of Pram, Scout Niblet, The Long Blondes, a.P.A.T.t and No Age. Their grunge sound is reminiscent of early Sonic Youth, with a heavy dose of jerky punk rock similar to Coachwhips and a splash of electro indie pop akin to The Fall.

CD - RUN10CD - £9.99
basket : wish list
Maths Class are an all encompassing angular Brighton-based five piece formed in the summer of 2006. The 7" version of "Now This Will Take Two Hands" contains two songs, whose greatest strength lies in their unpredictability; each track incorporating musical styles and song structures that other acts would struggle to fit into one short record. The awkward and aggressive A-side track "Nerves" has an immediacy that nails Maths Class as a direct and unrelenting force.

Ltd 7" - IAJ005S - £2.49 - NOT OUT UNTIL MONDAY!
A-side is "Nerves" and the flipside is "Jonny Got The Jawline".
basket : wish list

Formed in 1996 and disbanded less than two years later, The Loved were an accidentally mysterious pop trio from the unlikely locale of Louisville, KY. In truth, they were just three ordinary guys making Beatles-inspired pop with a few nods to some 70s and 80s guitar gods. They weren't trying to be coy, they just didn't care about much else besides the music, so their 'image' and 'story' remained a question mark. If you missed out on this the first time around, and you really like super catchy, classic pop-influenced rock, then now is the time to get on the train before you're caught running after the caboose.

CD - TRR141CD - £8.99
basket : wish list

"Painted Skeletons" finds Lapels sounding more epic than previously, whilst the double A-Side track, "Last Great Civilisation" is a harder proposition, being the bands most direct recording to date.
"Fate" is the third album by Philadelphia-based quintet Dr Dog and sees them filtering the gamut of American popular music into its own idiosyncratic brand of blue-eyed, dilated-pupil soul. Drawing on some of the great threads of American music of the last 40 years - everything from Mercury Rev and "The Basement Tapes" - "Fate" draws upon the events and circumstances that have surrounded the band over the last five years and incorporates them into the group's most stunning work to date.

CD - PTV25 - £9.99 - limited cheap price - NOT OUT UNTIL MONDAY!
basket : wish list
Damon & Naomi present the reissue of their first album, "More Sad Hits", on their own 20|20|20 label, which just last year released the band's latest album, "Within These Walls". Created as a swan song response to the dissolution of Galaxie 500, "More Sad Hits" was recorded with Galaxie producer Mark Kramer, and is just as cutting a reaction to the sinister allure of fame as it was when released back in 1992. The album was so strong, that a presumed one-off led to a long relationship with Sub Pop Records, who offered to put out future releases after hearing what the duo could accomplish on their own. Damon & Naomi originally released "More Sad Hits" on Shimmy Disc one year after the breakup of Galaxie 500, when Dean Wareham left the group to pursue a career with Luna on Elektra Records. With no intention of doing any more recording, the duo were nonetheless convinced to go into the studio after Kramer told them he'd assist with both recording and release. While Damon & Naomi have remained publicly silent regarding Wareham's recent autobiography, this album serves as all the answers anyone needs concerning their side of the drama. And with a shimmering and lonely beauty as only they can achieve, the two made a series of songs as emotionally stark as you're likely to hear.

CD - 202020.06 - £10.99
This remastered reissue will contain new liner notes and photos.
basket : wish list
"Grow Fins" is the follow up to The Brute Chorus's debut single "Chateau", which was released on Bumpman earlier in 2008. The song was recorded and produced at Flood´s bedroom studio in West London, where the band used some rather unconventional instrumentation, including the use of their homemade 'rockenspiel' (made from a small wooden glockenspiel bought on eBay) and the drum parts being performed solely on drum cases. The end result is a lovingly nurtured, and charmingly shambolic sound that is full of the band's personality and edge.

7" - BPM45003 - £4.99 - NOT OUT UNTIL MONDAY!
Limited edition heavyweight 45. 500 copies only.
basket : wish list
Rock'n'roll vets Scott McCaughey (The Minus 5, REM, Young Fresh Fellows) and Steve Wynn (The Dream Syndicate, Gutterball, Danny & Dusty, Miracle 3) have an unhealthy love for music undermined only by an even more unhealthy love of baseball. The compatriots blend their two passions with "Volume 1: Frozen Ropes And Dying Quails", an album of buzzing guitars and baseball back stories. The heroes and villains of America's (in)famous pastime are explored with cutting wit and fanboy detail in songs that satisfy both the summer's need for rock anthems and sweltering afternoon double-headers. Drummer Linda Pitmon (Miracle 3, Golden Smog) and REM's Peter Buck round out the squad, as they spin tales of ill-fated drinking binges ("The Yankee Flipper", "The Death Of Big Ed Delahanty"), near mythical icons ("Ted Fucking Williams"), folk heroes ("Fernando", "Satchel Paige Said") and, on "Gratitude (For Curt Flood)", the overlooked man who changed the game. A passionately funny and sarcastically reverent commentary on the state of the sport, The Baseball Project provides a hip soundtrack to the backstage party at America's game.

CD - YEP2178 - £10.99
basket : wish list
This EP has something for everyone; Beatfanatic turns in a blessed out slow burning Balearic version of "Killing For Love", which has already licensed to the new Hed Kandi compilation "Serve Chilled 8". Pechenga's remix is a downtempo psychedelic-tinted ambient 60s mindtrip. This being Peacefrog, they couldn't resist adding a minimal tech-house edge, so bring in Landberg & Skogehall to do just that. Last but not least, the rework that's been causing all the interest, Todd Terje's lush cosmic / Balearic space-disco take on "Killing For Love" - a bit special!

12" - PFG120 - £6.49 - limited cheap price - NOT OUT UNTIL MONDAY!
Strictly limited pressing
basket : wish list

Snapped up by Say Dirty Records after only their second gig, they were taken under the wing of Belle & Sebastian front-man Stuart Murdoch, who produced their debut single, "Foxtrot Vandals". Mixing frothy folk-pop tunes with a slight electronic edge, ZVG have been feted by The Independent as 'on course to hit the big-time over the next 12 months' and described by The Skinny as 'like the Postal Service with a sense of humour'. 'Its carefree thrum and woozy harmonies revealing a tasteful rooting in shambling C86-era guitar pop.
It is the presence, the joy and the unbelievable talent of Mumford & Sons that stops people in their step. They represent a youthful spirit and communicate it with an intensity and integrity wise beyond their years. Musically they keep close to the roots of folk and bluegrass, but cleverly translate the songs into a wider world of the popular. Not in the throw away sense of the word, in the true sense of the word. The band formed at the tail end of 2007, when Marcus Mumford met banjo player Winston Marshall at the infamous West London folkster hangout Bosun's Locker on King's Road. The pair discovered a shared joy of bluegrass and country music, and quickly added Ben Lovett and Ted Dwane into the cocktails that brings to life the lyrics Mumford had been penning. You might have already seen these wise, young faces playing with Laura Marling, Noah and The Whale, Derek Meins or Peggy Sue and the Pirates. Mumford & Sons are an integral part of this eclectic and creative collection of artists that rivals the neighbourhood vibe of Laurel Canyon in the late 60s.

Ltd 10" - CC006 - £5.99
basket : wish list
Ross Charnock and Scott Russell are two sensitive country boys, corrupted by city life, who sing fragile three minute pop songs about life, love and loss. One from the hills and mills of Lancashire, the other from the bleak empty plains of Lincolnshire, together they create obsessive mantras of regret and longing set to a rickety backdrop of tender finger-tickled guitar and homely banjo.

Ltd CDS - CNR001 - £2.99
basket : wish list
In advance of their upcoming travel guide collection CD series, Sonar Kollektiv re-issue the wonderful folk album "Listen Of" from Brazilian singer songwriter Paul Bryan, originally released in 1973 on the label Top Tape in Brazil. Jazzanova member Juergen Von Knoblauch found the LP while record digging in Berlin years ago. He played it to the rest of the collective and they all instantly fell for this collector's item almost impossible to find outside Brazil. Paul Bryan is the pseudonym that Brazilian artist and musician Sergio Sa, a blind-born keyboard player with a long and successful musical career in Brazil as composer, producer and arranger, used to produce an album of British and American influenced folk tunes. After all these years "Listen Of" is still a beautiful and soothing record of ballads and romantic songs.

CD - SK181CD - £10.99 - limited cheap price - NOT OUT UNTIL MONDAY!
basket : wish list
Having delivered a great Radiohead covers album a few years back (and launching Mark Ronson into a versioning career), Rapster are back with another set of remakes, this time focussing on Mr David Bowie. "Life Beyond Mars" features new and exclusive cover versions of Bowie classics from electronic artists that have been heavily influenced by the legacy of the Thin White Duke. The artists here could choose any track from his catalogue and create their own fresh interpretation, however faithful, or different, to the original. The result is a fascinating range of interpretations by some of the leading players in today's electronic music from Detroit's Matthew Dear and Carl Craig to Joakim, Playgroup, Susumu Yokota and Au Revoir Simone, all tapping into the cryptic, expressionist core of Bowie's originals. The new versions reference Ziggy Stardust's cosmic glam and the cinematic low art of "Hunky Dory". Even less acclaimed Bowie albums are re-visited including the "Labyrinth" soundtrack from 1989 and the dramatic stylings of "Tonight" from 84.

2xLP - RR77LP - £11.99 - limited cheap price
basket : wish list

Moshi Moshi
No Pins Allowed
Packt Like Sardines In A Crushd Tin Box

Still basking in the warm glow of love for his debut single "No Surprise", James Yuill returns with "No Pins Allowed", his first release on the esteemed Moshi Moshi label. "No Surprise" clearly marked James Yuill as a talent on the rise. Like many music lovers of his generation James Yuill has a passion for both the emotional songwriting and atmospheres of artists such as Nick Drake, Radiohead and Sufjan Stevens and the visceral beats and dynamic rhythms of Justice, Chemical Brothers and Aphex Twin. Unlike anyone else however, James has fused these seemingly disparate influences into a magical sound of his very own. "No Pins Allowed" is James Yuill at his masterful best. Combining tightly worked songwriting with some caustic beat science, this is a sonically challenging yet emotionally engaging song that provides the perfect appetiser for James's forthcoming album. Also included on the package are a cover of Radiohead's "Packt Like Sardines In A Crushd Tin Box" - a live favourite - and the sparse and delicate "Breathing In".

Ltd 7" - MOMO16 - £2.99 - NOT OUT UNTIL MONDAY!
Limited edition - 600 copies only.
basket : wish list

The band was born out of a club night, 'Sneaky Sundays', hosted in Sydney by DJ Black Angus (Angus McDonald) and MC Double D (Daimon Downey). With its strict 'no shoe-gazing, no wallflowers' policy it quickly attracted high-profile guests including Hot Chip, LCD Soundsystem and Tiga, and still packs in up to 1000 people every week. Angus and Daimon began working on their own tracks and recruited singer Miss Connie to record vocals for the irresistibly danceable electro-pop tunes that would form their debut album. "Pictures", taken from the album is mixed by Rich Costey (Muse, Franz Ferdinand, New Order).
After the meditative electronica of 2002's "18" and the singer-songwriter moves of 2005's "Hotel", Moby returns to the dance floor with a vengeance on his new album "Last Night". Spanning hands-in-the-air, smiley-faced rave anthems, cosmic Giorgio Moroder-styled Euro-disco, hip-hop both old school and underground, and downtempo, end-of-the-night ambience, "Last Night" is a dance music tour de force that looks back at Moby's deep roots in the club scene at the same time as it embraces the future. Reacting against the downbeat quality of previous albums like "Hotel", "18" and the blockbuster "Play", Moby 'wanted to make an album that was a little more playful, a little more reflective of (his) life as it actually is'. In fact, "Last Night" is conceptually structured like one of these epic nights out, moving from the building excitement of the early evening to peak-time euphoria to 2am confusion and the blissful peace of the early morning New York city sunrise. Moby hesitantly admits that "Last Night" is in fact something of a concept album as it attempts to condense an entire night out into a 60-minute album.

CD - CDSTUMM275 - £9.99
basket : wish list

2xLP - STUMM275 - £16.99
basket : wish list
'Gal-fronted English duos The Sexual Hot Bitches and The Lovely Eggs forcibly drag you back into the garage for hot rock 'n' roll make-out sessions on this split seven-inch. Indeed, the Bitches' "Let's Fuck" pretty much dispels any notion of innuendo. That's saved for their other contributions, the slightly more subtle "Kitty" and "Hot Pie". The Lovely Eggs make sure the B-side is fluster-worthy with "I Like Birds (But I Like Other Animals Too)" before upending a classic girl group theme with "I'm Having A Party" and its line '...and we're killing ourselves'. The Eggs probably could've done without the sample-y bits and sound collages eating up space on their side, but when you're getting felt up and the threat of parents walking in and catching you looms heavy, none of that stuff matters.'

Ltd 7" - FILTHY013 - £3.99
basket : wish list

April 77
Let's Get Lost

'Our sound is fast and tough. We dig the Clash, Buzzcocks, The Jam and all that mid-70s early punk stuff. The list could go on and on...' -Lenny Pops, singer of The Red Hearts. The Red Hearts are a household name in the Los Angeles indie rock and punk scene. They are lead by Lenny Pops, who formed the band in 2004 after having played in the Brian Jonestown Massacre. The guys have shared the stage with cult icons such as Silver Apples, The Avengers, as well as playing with many of today's top bands including Black Lips and Lords of Altamont. "Let's Get Lost" is a fast, in yer face, ball of fun with more than a few nods to their influences, predominantly The Clash.

Ltd 7" - A77002 - £5.49<b
