&lt;p&gt;Brisbane&amp;#39;s most iconic and important bridge, constructed by contractors Evans Deakin-Hornibrook, was opened in July 1940 and was named after John Douglas Story, a prominent public servant. The Story Bridge is the largest steel bridge designed, fabricated and constructed in Australia by Australians. Dr. John Bradfield was consulting engineer. The Story Bridge&amp;nbsp;was&amp;nbsp;chosen by Queenslanders in the Q150&amp;nbsp;voting as the most iconic structure and engineering feat in Queensland.&lt;/p&gt;
