Harry Potter ,Daniel Radcliffe was Bullied over fame in School

Healthy Lunch Ideas for Kids

One of the biggest problems with lunches packed at home is the high fat, sugar and sodium content found in most lunch items from the grocery store. Not to mention the lack of fruit, vegetables and whole grains in most lunchboxes.

Try not to fall into the convenient trap of always including pre-processed packaged foods in your child’s lunch such as chips, cookies, cupcakes, and other snack foods. Instead, think ahead and put together individual baggies filled with nutritious and tasty foods at the beginning of each week that you can grab from the fridge or cupboard and place into your child’s lunchbox. A few good ideas include baggies filled with:

Grapes, strawberries, oranges, melon, etc. Freeze fruits in the summer for variety during the winter months.

Carrots, celery, broccoli, etc.

A blend of dried fruits, such as raisins, apple rings, banana chips. Add a few of your child’s favorite low-sodium nuts.

Low sodium pretzels, baked chips, low-fat cheese crackers, nuts, sunflower seeds, etc.

Even the sandwich you pack for your child can be high in fat and sodium if you are not careful. Be sure to make a healthy sandwich by using:

Whole grain bread instead of white bread – for variety, use a whole grain bagel or pita pocket.

Low-fat lunch meats from the deli counter such as turkey breast, chicken breast, ham, bologna or roast beef, are much lower in fat than the pre-packaged kind.

Look for meats that are at least 95% fat-free.

Low-fat or fat free cheese – regular cheese is the second leading source of saturated fat in kids’ diets. You could skip the cheese altogether and pack low-fat yogurt, cottage cheese or calcium-fortified orange juice to obtain a significant source of calcium.

Mayonnaise in moderation – better yet, use reduced fat mayo, salad dressing or margarine. Mustard is an even wiser choice with no fat or calories.

Veggies – add nutritional value to your child’s sandwich by stacking on a slice of cucumber, romaine lettuce, pepper, tomato, or shredded carrots.

Keep your child’s lunch interesting by packing a variety of foods. Don’t pack sweets every day. Instead, pick a particular day each week (Friday’s are always good) to pack a surprise treat like chips, cookies or a cupcake. Or, give your child some change one day each week to buy a treat from the school cafeteria.

For more back to school articles, log on to Back to School Parenting Special.

Britney was seen trying on a slew of dresses and a few hats before departing in a green halter dress, one of her many purchases of the day.

There were a few rumors circulating that Britney neglected to discipline her children after they were running rampant and cussing at one of the Teen Choice Award suites because she was too preoccupied picking out free swag. Thankfully, those rumors have been cleared up by Britney's escort at the show

"She never stopped at one sponsor station. It was all about the kids. She was devoted to them and was with them the whole time. They were even having a great time with Band Hero and they were all playing with Hasbro's new Bop-It. She never left the boys' side. She could not have been sweeter, and portraying her as an inattentive mother is not true and so not fair."

It's nice to see people sticking up for her. She has worked hard to get back to health, mentally and physically, she should be commended for her progress.

For more news and gossip about your favourite Hollywood celebrities, log on to Celebrity Gossip Section of Cherishing Life.

Homework Help Guidelines for KIds

School is back in full swing, and parents are once again faced with the difficult task of getting their children to complete their homework. You may have heard some of these comments already: “No, I don’t have any homework,” “I’ll get it done later,” and “I did my homework at school.” Perhaps there have already been arguments over homework. You may be asking yourself if you’ll be informed that your child has not turned in work at the next parent-teacher conference. Don’t worry, you are not alone, and there are several things that you can do to start the school year off right and even prevent homework problems from occurring.

Schedule a time for homework. Determine a reasonable time after school to schedule a homework period with your child. For example, if your children don’t participate in after school activities, let them have a snack and get comfortable for about 15 minutes after getting home. Then, begin homework time.

Identify a homework location. The ideal location for homework is somewhere that is quiet, comfortable, and free from distractions. This spot will be even better if it has all of the supplies that will help your children complete school work (i.e., pencils, rulers, calculators, etc.). The television should never be on when homework is being done.

Ensure homework assignments and materials are brought home. Provide your child with a planner in which he can write down homework assignments and upcoming tests. If your child forgets or appears unmotivated to use his planner, ask his teachers to initial the planner at the end of each period to ensure that your child documents the assignment correctly. Some schools now provide this information online, and you can alternatively check the assignments online to see if they match what has been written in the planner.

Supervise homework. This is important for two reasons: 1.Your child may need assistance. 2. Your child may have difficulty maintaining attention without prompts and motivation. The older your child, the less supervision he will generally require. You want to be sure that level of assistance you are offering is commensurate with your child’s abilities. You do not want to do your child’s homework for him; you want to support your child so that he completes the homework with as little help as possible.

Determine a homework routine. For example, have your child empty out his book bag before beginning homework. Have him open the planner to the day’s assignments and show it to you. Then, have your child get the necessary materials ready to begin. Finally, have your child choose the order for completing homework assignments.

Set goals. Work with your child to set daily goals for homework completion. For example, you may determine that it should take your child about twenty minutes to complete a two page math worksheet.

For more back to school guidelines and tips ,log on to parenting section of Cherishing Life.

Jennifer Aniston is not a Lonely Girl?

Jennifer Aniston doesn’t mind being seen as a “lonely girl”.

The ‘Baster’ actress - who has had failed relationships with Brad Pitt, Vince Vaughn, Paul Sculfor and John Mayer - insists she is happy, but can understand why her personal life attracts so much negative attention.

She told Elle magazine: “I’m not going to ignore the pink elephant in the living room. It’s fine. I can take it. I am supportive of anybody who is in a place that’s not their strongest but is ready to push forward.

“If I’m the emblem for ‘this is what it looks like to be the lonely girl getting on with her life,’ so be it. I can make fun of myself. And I’ll bring it up as long as the world is bringing it up.”

The former ‘Friends’ star also revealed she has used humour to cope with personal heartbreak.

She said: “My parents made each other laugh like nobody’s business. I put a lot of value in that at a very young age.

“I remember being seven and asking my mom if I was as pretty as my best friend Monique. And with all the love in the world, my mom looked at me and said, ‘Oh, honey, you’re so funny.’ So, she doesn’t lie to me - she answers the question by not answering and instead tells me what she thinks is my greatest strength.”

However, some events in her life - including when her father John Aniston left the family home when she was a child - proved too difficult to handle.

Recalling one of her most traumatic experiences, Jennifer said: “My dad walking out and not seeing him for a year and not knowing where he was. I was trying to understand, ‘Where did that person go?’ ”

Improve Your Communication with Your Spouse

The largest single factor which determines the kind of relationships we build with others is our communication skills. Communication covers how we pass information back and forth. It is not just the words we use it is much more than that. It includes how we make meaning of the words and how others make meaning of our words.

When I work with couples they almost always define the problem as being "we don't communicate". What they really mean is that they no longer feel heard, accepted, and valued by their partner. They are still communicating however they may be communicating through silence, anger, avoidance, blame, criticism etc. but not through love and understanding.

Tip 1. Say what you mean

Make sure your words and body language are congruent. Do not agree with something if you don't believe it. Stay in the present and address the issue at hand rather than bringing up past hurts and events.
Tip 2. Speak so you will be heard
How is your language? Are you using an abrasive accusatory tone? If you want to be taken seriously speak in a manner that is respectful of your partner and of yourself. Talk in the way you want to be spoken to.

Tip 3. Control your anxiety

All of us when we are worried, scared or angry feel a lot of emotion and we become self-protective. Find a way to internally quiet yourself. When in overload with anxiety one tool that many people have found helpful is to silently start counting to yourself. This act puts you back into the cognitive arena and makes it possible for you to think as to how you want to handle the situation at hand.

Tip 4. Listen to understand

In order to listen we have to be calm enough ourselves so we can hear. Listening is a skill that requires wanting to hear what the other person has to say. Ask follow up questions so you can really understand what your partner is saying instead of rebutting before you really understand the essence of what is being said.

Tip 5. Understand the power of relationships

Couple relationships are made up of "I" and "You" and together they form WE. Thus when communicating all three factors are always present. Couples develop a balance in their relationship that can either enhance them or limit them. By taking responsibility to say what you think and feel and really listening to your partner you are respectful of the WE you have created.

For more useful tips and articles on positive communication between spouses and partners, log on to relationships section of Cherishing Life.

Jennifer Lopez Uphill Struggle to Lose Baby Weight

Jennifer Lopez admits it was an “uphill struggle” to lose her baby weight.

The singer-and-actress - who gave birth to twins Max and Emme in February 2008 - gained 50lbs when she was pregnant and was shocked when it didn’t fall off straight away.

She said: “I thought the weight was going to drop off easily because I’d been in shape my whole life. But it wasn’t easy. It was an uphill struggle. I had gained about 50lbs while pregnant. The first 30lb dropped off like that and I was so pleased. Then I had to lose the last 15 or 20lbs that just didn’t want to go. I had to diet and work out a lot.”

Following her struggle to shift the excess pounds, Lopez is reconsidering her previous vow not to have any cosmetic surgery.

The 40-year-old star - who is married to Marc Anthony - said: “I have to say I feel awesome! I feel the same way I felt when I was in my 20s.

“I don’t see myself having any plastic surgery, but I’m not at that point yet, so I don’t know. I don’t know how I’ll feel when I’m older. But I’m more of a natural person and I believe in beauty not being an outside, physical thing. Luckily, I’m used to seeing myself everywhere now that I no longer obsess about the way I look.

Jennifer Lopez uses a webcam to keep in touch with her children.

The singer-and-actress - who gave birth to twins Max and Emme in February 2008 - can’t bear to be parted from her family, so uses the internet to check on how they are doing.

She said: “I hate being away from my kids. But we have devised this thing where I can see them on the computer. I call up on the web camera so I can see the babies while I am away and I just look at them.”

For more celebrity news and gossip ,log on to Celebrities Gossip Section.

The Foods To Make You Lean -- Lose Pounds Now

Steak

Beef has a rep as a diet buster, but eating it may help you peel off pounds. In a study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, women on a diet that included red meat lost more weight than those eating equal calories but little beef. "The protein in steak helps you retain muscle mass during weight loss," says study author Manny Noakes, Ph.D. Try to consume local organic beef; it's healthier for you and the environment.

Eat more Grill or broil a 4-ounce serving of top round or sirloin; slice thinly to top a salad, or mix with veggies for fajitas.

Eggs

Dig in to eggs, yolks and all: They won't harm your heart, but they can help you trim inches. Women on a low-calorie diet who ate an egg with toast and jelly each morning lost twice as many pounds as those who had a bagel breakfast with the same number of calories but no eggs, a study from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge reports. "Egg protein is filling, so you eat less later in the day," says David Grotto, R.D., author of 101 Foods That Could Save Your Life (Bantam).

Eat more Omelets and scrambles are obvious choices, but if you can't cook before work, bake a frittata on Sunday; chill it and nuke slices for up to a week.

Oats

"Oatmeal has the highest satiety ranking of any food," Grotto says. "Unlike many other carbohydrates, oats—even the instant kind—digest slowly, so they have little impact on your blood sugar." All oats are healthful, but the steel-cut and rolled varieties (which are minimally processed) have up to 5 grams of fiber per serving, making them the most filling choice. Instant oats contain 3 to 4 grams per serving.

Lentils

Lentils are a bona fide belly flattener. "They're high in protein and soluble fiber, two nutrients that stabilize blood sugar levels," says Tanya Zuckerbrot, R.D., author of The F-Factor Diet (Putnam Adult). "Eating them helps prevent insulin spikes that cause your body to create excess fat, especially in the abdominal area."

Apples

An apple a day can keep weight gain at bay, finds a study from Penn State University at University Park. People who chomped an apple before a pasta meal ate fewer calories overall than those who had a different snack. "Apples are high in fiber—4 to 5 grams each—which makes them filling," says Susan Kraus, R.D., a clinical dietitian at Hackensack University Medical Center in New Jersey. Plus, the antioxidants in apples may help prevent metabolic syndrome, a condition marked by excess belly fat or an "apple shape."

Eat more Apples are the ideal on-the-go low-calorie snack. For a pielike treat, chop up a medium apple and sprinkle with 1/2 tsp allspice and 1/2 tsp cinnamon. Pop in the microwave for 1 1/2 minutes.

Buckwheat pasta

Swap plain noodles for this hearty variety; you'll slip into your skinny jeans in no time. "Buckwheat is high in fiber and, unlike most carbs, contains protein," Zuckerbrot says. "Those two nutrients make it very satiating, so it's harder to overeat buckwheat pasta than the regular stuff."

Eat more Cook this pasta as you do rice: Simmer it, covered, over low heat. For a light meal, toss cooked buckwheat pasta with broccoli, carrots, mushrooms and onions.

Blueberries

All berries are good for you, but those with a blue hue are among the best of the bunch. They have the highest antioxidant level of all commonly consumed fruit, according to research from the USDA Agriculture Research Service in Little Rock, Arkansas. They also deliver 3.6 grams of fiber per cup. "Fiber may actually prevent some of the fat you eat from being absorbed because fiber pulls fat through the digestive tract," Zuckerbrot says.

For detailed list of top fat burning foods, log on to fitness section of Cherishing Life.

Communicate With Your Kids

Communication with your 1 -2 Years old

Language development really takes off during this time, especially as your baby approaches the second birthday.

Kids this age can better able to comprehend what is said to them and express what they want. They take joy in their ability to understand more complex directions — and won't hesitate to give directions of their own.

How Babies Communicate

Most babies say their first words in the beginning of this period, though some start even sooner and others don't start until they're nearly 2 years old. A baby who is preoccupied with learning to walk may push talking to the back burner; it's not unusual and is nothing to be alarmed about.

Babies this age might have learned fragments of dozens of words that probably won't be recognizable yet. When they get around to talking, though, they'll probably progress quickly and soon be able to point at something familiar and say its name, and recognize names of familiar people, objects, and body parts.

By 2 years old, babies may use phrases and even two- to four-word sentences, although your doctor will only expect to hear that your child is putting two words together.

No matter when babies say their first words, it's a sure bet they already understanding much of what is said to them before that. Your child should be able to respond to commands ("Roll the ball to Mommy") and should be fully aware of the names of familiar objects and family members.

You might find yourself struggling with your toddler to do as you say, only to have him or her ignore you or scream in protest. Toddlers like testing limits and their degree of control. By 18 months, most have mastered saying "no" with authority, and by age 2 may throw a tantrum when they're unwilling to do something. They'll also show signs of possessiveness — expect to hear "mine" or see tears if something is taken away or you show attention to someone else.

Communication with your 2-3 years old

Communicating with a child, from infancy onward, is one of the most pleasurable and rewarding experiences for both parent and child. Children learn by absorbing information through daily interactions and experiences with other kids, adults, and the world.

Communicating With Your Child

The more interactive conversation and play kids are involved in, the more they learn. Reading books, singing, playing word games, and simply talking to kids will increase their vocabulary while providing increased listening opportunities.

Here are a few suggestions to help improve your child's communication skills:

Talk to your toddler about what he or she did during the day or plans to do tomorrow. "I think it's going to rain this afternoon. What shall we do?" Or discuss the day's events at bedtime.

Play make-believe games.

Read favorite books over and over and encourage your child to join in with words he or she knows. Encourage "pretend" reading (letting your child "read" a book to you).

Vocabulary and Communication Patterns

Between the ages of 2 and 3, kids experience a tremendous growth spurt in language skills. By age 2, most kids can follow simple directions and speak about 50 to 200 words. Many kids also begin to echo what they hear and start combining words in short phrases.

Kids this age usually can follow additional instructions, such as "Come to Daddy." A 3-year-old's vocabulary typically is between 200 and 300 words, and many kids begin to string words together in short sentences.

Kids at this stage of language development start to understand more and speak more clearly, and they're usually able to use language to engage in a simple question-and-answer format.

By age 3, kids should be using language freely, experimenting with sounds, and beginning to use language to solve problems and learn concepts. They can also count three objects correctly and will know their age. However, although they use and understand many words, only about 75% of what they say will be understandable to others.

Communication with your 4-5 years old

The more interactive conversation and play kids are involved in, the more they learn. Reading books, singing, playing word games, and simply talking to kids will increase their vocabulary while providing increased opportunities to develop listening skills.

Here are a few suggestions to improve your child's communication skills:

Help your child relate to books by selecting stories that mirror families like yours or people from your cultural or ethnic group.

Keep books, magazines, and other reading material where kids can reach them without help.

Help kids create their own "This Is Me" or "This Is Our Family" album with photographs or mementos.

Talk with your child about books or TV programs and videos that you watch together.

Let your child see you reading and enjoying books.

Vocabulary and Communication Patterns

As kids gain mastery over language skills, they become more sophisticated in their conversational abilities. Kids ages 4 to 5 years can follow complex directions and enthusiastically talk about things they do. They can make up stories, listen attentively to stories, and retell stories.

At this age, kids usually are able to understand that letters and numbers are symbols of real things and ideas, and that they can be used to tell stories and offer information.

Sentence structures now incorporate up to eight words, and vocabulary is between 1,000 and 2,000 words. Most kids this age should have intelligible speech, although there may be some developmental sound errors and stuttering, particularly among boys.

Preschoolers generally are able to make comments and requests and give directions. They should know the names and gender of family members and other personal information. They often play with words and make up silly words and stories.

For more information and detailed articles, log on to kids health section of Cherishing Life.

GMTV's Andrew Castle said that his daughter almost died after taking Tamiflu

Mr Castle said that Georgina, the elder of his two daughters, who has asthma, suffered a "respiratory collapse" after being given the medicine at Alleyn's School in Dulwich, south London, which was the centre of one of Britain's first outbreaks in May.
The confrontation came as they discussed a report in the British Medical Journal which suggested that it should not be given to children under 12.

Researchers in Oxford called for the current policy of offering antivirals to be reconsidered, highlighting possible side effects such as vomiting and dehydration.

They concluded that taking Tamiflu or another antiviral, Relenza, could do otherwise healthy children more harm than good.

Georgina, 16, who is a promising singer tipped as the "next Charlotte Church", was studying for her GCSEs when fellow pupils returned from the half term break displaying symptoms of the virus.

The school was closed and students were brought in with their parents to be given Tamiflu, as was the practice at the time.

Mr Castle said that his wife, Sophia, told the Health Protection Agency staff that Georgina suffered from asthma but had flu-like symptoms and was advised to give her a double dose.

The next day she collapsed on the floor, barely able to breath with her face turning grey, according to Mr Castle.

She spent three days in isolation in St George's Hospital in south London, where she was given oxygen. But tests for the H1N1 virus were negative.

Mr Castle publicly praised the school's handling of the outbreak, although he now believes that the antiviral was more harmful than any symptoms she may have had.

"Nobody checked that she had swine flu before the Health Protection Agency just handed this Tamiflu out," he told Mr Burnham.

"We suffered, Georgina suffered and a lot of kids suffered in the school, very heavily."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Related Swine Flu Articles

Tamiflu Considerations Before Giving Them To Children

With the increased reported side-effects cases of Tamiflu in children ,it is now, recommended that Tamiflu should not be used in under 12 years of children in flu cases.

Over-weight persons are more likely to be victims of swine flu

In a Michigan study ,it has been observed that obese and over-weight persons are more likely to be victims of swine flu.Another reason to lose that love handles---

Donovan swine flu test positive

Los Angeles Galaxy forward Landon Donovan tested positive for swine flu.Though ,he reported that his symptoms were very mild and---

Lady Gaga hermaphrodite claims proven false

We all know what the Internet is like for celebrity rumors, but the recent one about Lady Gaga being

a hermaphrodite, has to be the most bizarre of them all. But the latest rumor has had many people wondering, if Lady Gaga is a man or a woman.

According to associatedcontent.com, Lady Gaga has in fact been fighting wild and bizarre rumors like this one for some time now. The latest speculation was apparently fueled, after a picture of Lady Gaga managed to find its way on to the Internet.

The picture in question was reportedly taken, from video footage of the singer performing at this year’s Glastonbury Festival. It reportedly showed her on stage with a short red dress and a bulge between her legs that shouldn’t be there if she was a female.

And even though Lady Gaga’s manager has insisted that the rumor and speculation that has come from it are ridiculous and untrue, the story seems to be carrying on. But most people just don’t care either way and it has not stopped Lady Gaga being top of the charts.

For more entertainment news, log on to hot news section of Cherishing Life.

Sleeping Guide for Sleepless Parents

Sleep and your 1-2 years old

Toddlers are increasingly aware of their surroundings, so distractions might disrupt them at bedtime. Their growing imaginations can start to interrupt sleep, too. Now more than ever, a simple and consistent bedtime routine is a parent's best bet for getting a sleepy toddler snugly into bed.

Toddlers and Sleep

You're the best judge of how much sleep your child needs. Most toddlers between the ages of 1 and 2 require about 10-13 hours of sleep a day. Whether all these hours are slept at night or split up between nighttime sleeping and daytime naps is up to you.

Some parents find that their kids need that sleep during the day. Others find that daytime napping interferes with a good night's sleep and that a rest period (quiet playing or reading) works better. If this occurs, you may want to combine two short naps into one or do away with naps altogether. That's OK— kids don't need to nap every single day.

It may take several weeks of experimenting until you find the right combination of sleep and naps. Just make sure your toddler is getting enough rest. It can mean the difference between a happy, sunny disposition and a cranky, hard-to-manage child. Try to get in tune with your little one's needs and personality.

Where and How Should a Toddler Sleep?

Most likely your 1- to 2-year-old will still be sleeping in a safe, secure crib. Remember not to put any extra-large soft toys or stuffed animals in the crib, and look out for items with ties or strings that could wind up around your toddler's neck. Also, be on constant lookout for nearby objects your child might be able to reach from a standing position in the crib: curtains, window blind pulls, pictures, or wall hangings are all possibilities.

Your curious toddler may be looking for ways to climb over the crib railing in an effort to "break out" of the crib. Don't leave a lot of toys to pile up and climb, and if you haven't taken down those bumper pads, do it now so that your child doesn't try to use them as a step.

If you have an active climber who is getting out of the crib and suddenly appearing in the living room, you might want to consider moving him or her to a bed. It will be difficult at first to keep your toddler in it, but at least you'll know your child won't be hurt climbing out of a crib.

Sleep and your 1-3 months old

Your baby's sleep phases are much the same as your own: drowsiness, REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, light sleep, deep sleep, and very deep sleep. Your baby might start sleeping through the night now — but the definition of "sleeping through the night" at this age is a stretch of only 5 hours!

How Long Will My Baby Sleep?

Since babies are more alert and aware of their immediate surroundings during the daylight hours, they're more inclined to sleep during the night, especially if parents fight the urge to play or talk to their baby during nighttime feedings or diaper changes.

Your baby is adapting to the sleep-wake cycle that parents favor, and the baby's stomach is growing and holding more breast milk or formula. At 3 months of age your baby will likely sleep about 15 hours out of each 24-hour period, and two thirds of that sleep will take place during the night.

Most babies will have settled into a daily sleep routine of two or three sleep periods during the day, followed by "sleeping through the night" for 6 to 7 hours after a late-night feeding.

If your baby is sleeping a lot when you want him or her awake — or vice versa — encourage wakefulness during the day while also allowing your baby to have distinct sleeping periods. You also can rouse your baby for the late-night feeding at a time that suits your sleep schedule. For instance, if your baby gets sleepy after the 7 p.m. feeding and sleeps until 2 a.m. before feeding again, wake the baby to feed at 11 p.m. and then put him or her down to sleep until an early-morning feeding at 5 or 6 a.m. It may take a few nights to establish this routine, but it will happen if you're consistent.

If your baby wakes during the period that you want him or her to be sleeping, keep activity to a minimum. Change or feed your baby in the dark, and don't play with the baby. Your little one will start to get the message that you're a bore during the night, so he or she might as well just go back to sleep.

Again, not all infants keep to the same timetable. If you have questions or concerns, check with your doctor.

Where and How Should My Baby Sleep?

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that healthy infants be placed on their backs to sleep, not on their stomachs. The incidence of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) has decreased by more than 40% since this recommendation was first made in 1992. It is now also recommended that premature infants sleep only on their backs.

It is thought that some babies sleeping on their stomachs may have a greater tendency toward sleep obstruction and rebreathing their own carbon dioxide because they're less likely to rouse themselves to change head positions. Another possibility is that they may suffocate on softer bedding if they're lying face-down.

Once your child is rolling over on his or her own, around 5 to 6 months of age, you no longer need to worry about sleep positioning. If you have difficulty getting your baby to sleep on his or her back before this age, though, talk to your doctor.

Sleep and your 4-7 months old

By this age, your baby should be well on the way toward an established sleep pattern. Most likely the pattern includes at least two naps a day, plus at least 7 or 8 hours of nighttime sleep.

During these months, your baby will learn to roll over and position himself or herself for sleep. Toward the end of this period, your little one may be able to stay awake or be kept awake by surroundings, so this is the time to instill good sleep habits by sticking to a bedtime routine.

How Long Will My Baby Sleep?

While the average number of hours slept per day at this age is 14, the range of normal is quite wide, with some babies sleeping only 9 hours and others sleeping as much as 18.

The average amount of daytime sleep now is 3-4 hours. Some babies will nap 20 minutes, others will sleep much longer than average.

Remember that your baby would rather be with you than anywhere else. So your tot may need more sleep, but wakes after a 20-minute nap because he or she would just rather be playing with you than sleeping. As your baby becomes a toddler and starts resisting naps, it's still a good idea to have a period of quiet time, for both of you.

Naps usually help prevent a baby from becoming too cranky to sleep well at night, allowing your baby (and you) to enjoy the waking hours more. Most babies this age like to nap once in the morning, then again sometime after lunch.

If you feel the naps are interfering with your baby's bedtime, you can wake the baby from an afternoon nap a little earlier. But if your baby is overly tired, he or she will not sleep well at night.

How and Where Should My Baby Sleep?

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommends that healthy infants be placed on their backs to sleep, not on their stomachs. The incidence of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) has decreased by more than 40% since this recommendation was first made in 1992. It's now also recommended that premature infants sleep only on their backs.

Until your baby is rolling over unaided and picking a position for sleep, place your little one on his or her back to sleep. It is thought that some babies sleeping on their stomachs may have a greater tendency toward sleep obstruction and rebreathing their own carbon dioxide because they're less likely to rouse themselves to change head positions. Another possibility is that they may suffocate on softer bedding if they are lying face-down.

Many cultures endorse cosleeping. But studies indicate that there is a greater incidence of SIDS in households where the infant slept in the bed with the parents. Use of substances that decrease the parents' awareness, such as alcohol, also may allow a parent to roll over onto the baby.

Sleep and your 8-12 months old

Though your baby is beginning to develop in so many positive ways, certain sleep problems may start to crop up near the first birthday. These are often due to your baby's increased awareness of "separateness" from you. Stranger anxiety and separation anxiety are two normal stages of development that can occur during this time, and they can interfere with much-needed nighttime sleep for you and your baby.

This may mean tears and tantrums when you try to leave your child in the crib at night — and more sleep interruption when your baby wakes up and looks around for some sign that you're near. This is also the age when night terrors can appear. These can be more "terrifying" for the parent than the baby if you're not sure what is happening.

It can be difficult to respond to your 8- to 12-month-old's nighttime needs with the right balance of concern and consistency, but remember: This is the time to set the stage for future restful nights for the whole family. The important thing now is to try to keep the sleep experience a positive one for your baby and to be consistent with your response to wakefulness at night.

How Long Will My Baby Sleep?

While the average amount of sleep per day at this age is 13 to 14 hours, the range of normal is still quite wide at this stage.

Your baby is probably still taking two naps a day — one in the morning and another sometime after lunch. The average length of a nap now is about 1 hour. Some babies will nap 20 minutes, others a few hours. Naps help prevent your baby from becoming too cranky to sleep well at night, so it is important that they be long enough.

This is the age when your baby may start resisting taking naps because he or she doesn't want to be away from you, but naps will help your little one (and you) enjoy the waking hours more. The key is to be as consistent as possible with nap times and your approach to putting your child in the crib.

Where and How Should My Baby Sleep?

By this age, most babies are rolling over and picking a comfortable position for sleep. Your baby will move around a lot during the course of a night's rest!

Night terrors can begin at this age, so don't be surprised if your baby starts screaming and crying in the middle of the night and nothing you do seems to help. Night terrors are different from nightmares. Night terrors occur during the deep part of sleep and although they may seem worrisome to you, your baby is actually still asleep — even if your baby's eyes are open — and has no idea that he or she is crying. Make sure that your baby is safe and he or she will eventually quiet down. Nightmares usually start around 3 to 4 years of age and children wake up from them feeling scared.

When your baby wakes up in the night and cries for you, remember not to reward this behavior or it may continue for a long time. Reassure your baby quietly that you're there, but then send the message that he or she needs to go back to sleep. The best bet may be a soothing pat on the back, a repositioning of the blanket, and a quick exit. If you are firm and consistent about requiring your baby to put herself or himself back to sleep, this stage should pass pretty quickly.

Of course, during these middle-of-the-night "visits" with your baby you'll want to rule out illness or a very soiled diaper. If you do need to change your baby, remember not to turn on too many lights and to keep interaction to a minimum.

Always keep safety in mind. Make sure your crib meets current safety standards. Don't put anything in the crib that can interfere with your baby's breathing — stuffed animals, blankets, or soft pillows can fall on a baby's face and block breathing. Although bumper pads are widely used, their safety has been questioned. One study from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission found a number of accidental deaths appeared to be related to the use of bumper pads in cribs and bassinets. The Canadian Pediatric Society has recommended against the use of bumper pads since 2004. If you do use bumpers, it’s best to use the kind that secure at the top and bottom. Also, avoid items with ties or ribbons that can wrap around a baby's neck, and objects with any kind of sharp edge or corner.

For complete articles and detailed information on how to get your kid to sleep a healthy sleep, log on to kids health section.

Games Reviews: Marvel vs.Capcom,The New Age of Heroes

Genre: Action

Thanks to the theatrical adaptations of many classic superheroes, Marvel is once again enjoying some ridiculously high levels of popularity. Naturally, most of this hubbub can be attributed to everyone’s favorite web-slinger, whose re-emergence can be witnessed everywhere from the cereal aisle to the boys’ pajamas department. Similarly, the legendary Street Fighter franchise has been awoken with the highly anticipated release of Street Fighter IV. With these two powerhouses once again soaring, how can game developers capitalize on such success while spending as little money as possible? The answer is simple, and it appears in the form of Marvel vs. Capcom 2: New Age of Heroes.

In all fairness, this title was released on Xbox Live Arcade due to consumer demand. Right from the moment the game loads, it’s obvious this title wasn’t built from the ground up for the 360. Pixilated characters, with just a few frames of animation per second, clutter the screen like some nerdy-nightmare oozing of spandex-clad superheroes and exaggerated anime portraits. For the uninitiated, the unrelenting speed and flashy style of Marvel vs. Capcom can be a touch overwhelming. That being said, the gameplay is not difficult to grasp, especially for players with experience in Capcom’s 2-D brawlers.

While Street Fighter games have typically utilized three variables of punching and kicking (each having unique properties with respect to speed and power), Marvel vs. Capcom simplifies things by utilizing only two attack strengths, for a total of only four attack buttons. The other buttons certainly see their use, however. Pressing “back” can initiate the ever-popular character taunt, while the index fingers are kept free for character swapping. It is this frantic switching of characters that adds tremendous excitement to the battles. While you’re trying to defend against some bizarre undead warrior, a scantily-clad woman might dart across the screen, appearing from nowhere to kick you in the face, and disappear just as quickly. Beginning players will likely meet such scenarios with some mixture of “Wow!” and “What the heck was that?” Still, this should not be terribly intimidating – it is very easy to select and utilize your roster of fighters.

This is a good thing, because if you want to become a truly powerful player, you’ll need to execute these moves in quick succession. Juggling is an important part of the combo system in Mavel vs. Capcom, some of which can be strung together for a whopping 100-hit beating on your foe. Elaborate displays of light and sound (as elaborate as the simple graphics engine allows, anyway) herald the start of an awe-inspiring special attack that is as dazzling as it is devastating. While an upgrade of the graphics engine would have certainly made the game easier on the eyes, this would have no doubt raised the cost of the final product. For the most part, you’re only playing this game because it’s crazy good fun, anyway.

Audio is an area where Marvel vs. Capcom does seem to be rather unpleasant, however. The muffled cries of combatants and repetitious barking of the disembodied announcer can make the experience grating after long play sessions. Probably the biggest fault I can find in the audio lies with the developers’ choice of menu theme music. If you thought Street Fighter IV’s continuous lyrical droning in the menus was obnoxious, wait until you hear the “I’m gonna take you for a ride” refrain in MvC for the 80th time in a single play session. I suspect many players will be taking heavy advantage of the 360’s custom soundtrack feature.

For more PC,xbox360,PS and Wii games reviews and screenshots and for playing free games ,log on to games reviews section of Cherishing Life.

Back To School Time,Is Your Kid Too Stressed?

It’s pretty common to hear parents talk about racing their child from one club sport, to the next—or to an academic debate, school club or other roster of activities. For some children, adding extra-curricular activities may be due to the pressure of building a resume to get into a good college, while others feel peer pressure to hang out with a group of friends. Some parents might feel their child is “missing out” if he isn’t constantly occupied. There are various reasons, but it all adds up to overload.

How Can Parents Tell if Their Child is Too Busy?

Boys Town Pediatrics helps parents look for signs of being over-loaded, such as:

Feeling tired, exhausted or depressed

Not enjoying the activity they once loved

Lower grades in school

Complaining of headaches or body aches, which may be due to stress or lack of sleep

Having stomach pain, which may be due to missed meals or stress

An active schedule can wear on a child’s social and family life. When a child is too busy to play with friends, his friendships my suffer—as does the family structure if one parent is busy running one child to baseball practice while the other parent is at a dance recital. Not to mention, it can be extremely tiresome for everyone involved.

If you feel your child is too busy, Boys Town Pediatrics offers tips to help you get back on track:

Schedule activities in moderation. Start slow and add an additional activity when you feel your child is ready to multi-task.

Make sure the activity is developmentally appropriate for the age of your child.

Keep a family calendar to stay organized. Place the calendar in a place where everyone can see it and can add their activities.

Mark off a day on the calendar as a family day. Do not schedule any individual activities on that day and do something together as a family.

Parents may need to say “No”. If adding one more activity is going to overload your child, you can talk to her about dropping an activity to add the new one.

Take a moment and carefully examine your child’s schedule. If you feel there are too many activities scheduled, talk with your child and together decide where you can cut back. Keeping a structured active schedule can play a role in the health and well-being of your child.

This entire week has been filled with promos for Karyn Kusama’s horror comedy, Jennifer’s Body. The official poster of Jennifer's Body was released in July,2009. It features Megan Fox in a school girls uniform with high heels, and a devilish look on her face. This photo reminds us all that “She’s evil…. and not just high school evil.”

…hey wait a minute? Jennifer’s Body will hit theaters on September 18, and co-stars Amanda Seyfried, Johnny Simmons, and Adam Brody.

Fox plays the titular Jennifer, a Minnesota high school cheerleader who becomes possessed by a demon and systematically begins murdering boys around the school. It’s up to her best friend to apparently put a stop to the madness .

The film is quite obviously rated R for sexuality, bloody violence, language, and brief drug use.

G.I.Joe:The Rise of Cobra

Rating : PG-13

Genre: War

Cast : Channing Tatum,Marlon Wayans,Rachel Nicolas,Sienna Miller

Storyline:

G.I. Joe is a top-secret, multi-national special forces unit comprised of highly-trained, physically attractive military personnel from around the world. Equipped with the latest in superawesome vehicles and weaponry and guided by the tough but fair General Hawk, they take on the baddest of the bad guys, the kind of terrorists that scoff at conventional organizations. As the General himself so aptly states, “When all else fails, we don’t.”

That credo is put to the test, however, when a shadowy terrorist group armed with even awesomer vehicles and weaponry, like crazy-ass laser guns and computer-guided zombie troopers, infiltrates the Joes’ compound and makes off with a cache of four WMDs, each of which is capable of leveling an entire city. Do the men and women of G.I. Joe have what it takes to defeat these menacing new adversaries before they mount their next devastating attack?

Review:

It takes an elite group of actors to play an elite group of soldiers, and the cast of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra is stocked with an abundance of Hollywood’s most talented performers, all adorned in various types of leather fetish apparel. White Chicks star Marlon Wayans plays Ripcord, a flight specialist who can pilot any type of airplane, even enemy crafts that respond only to voice commands uttered in Celtic. Channing Tatum, star of Step Up and Step Up 2: The Streets, plays his best pal Duke, a badass infantryman who knows no fear. Preeminent ginger chick Rachel Nichols showcases her fiery crimson locks as Scarlett, a shrewd intel expert whose stoic exterior hides a growing attraction to Ripcord. Barking out the orders as General Hawk is Enemy Mine star Dennis Quaid.

On the side of the bad guys is the Baroness, played by Factory Girl star Sienna Miller in a push-up bra, dirty librarian glasses and a raven-colored dye job. She’s the point woman for McMullen, a shady Scottish weapons magnate played by Christopher Eccleston. But McMullen is no ordinary shady Scottish weapons magnate; he’s covertly amassed a huge terrorist empire headquartered beneath the polar ice caps. It’s there that “The Doctor,” a horribly disfigured mad scientist played by (500) Days of Summer star Joseph Gordon-Levitt, concocts all sorts of diabolical new weapons and gadgets to unleash on the innocent.

Oh, and there are ninjas, too. Good guy Snake Eyes, played by Ray Park, wears sleek black body armor, while the evil Storm Shadow, played by Byung-hun Lee, runs around in a updated version of Elvis Presley’s classic all-white jumpsuit.

WHAT’S GOOD?

Loaded with scene after scene of high-tech action-movie eye candy, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra assaults the senses with such a relentless barrage of over-the-top stunts, eye-popping visual effects and stylized fight sequences that only the most coldly cynical of viewers will be able to resist submitting to its visceral charms.

WHAT’S BAD?

As with most sugary indulgences, the sweet, dizzying high is followed almost immediately by a painful crash. Feelings of guilt and shame start to simmer as you kick yourself for yielding to such soulless gluttony. The next morning, you awake with a throbbing headache and a heart filled with regret. The following day, a doctor informs you that you have adult-onset diabetes. So in a nutshell, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra is the cinematic equivalent of adult-onset diabetes.

For The more new reviews ,log on to Movies Reviews Section of Cherishing Life.

How To Get Most of Your Cardio Workouts?

Cardio is short for cardiovascular exercise which means really any exercise that benefits the heart. This used to be mainly aerobic training but now research suggests that weight lifting also benefits the heart, that is an example of a phrase that became popular before science had the chance to validate it.

How To Begin

Choose an activity that you enjoy. The best exercise for you is the one you'll actually do, not the one you think you should do. Walking is a great place to start since it doesn't require special equipment and you can do it anywhere, but you can try any activity that involves some type of continuous movement like cycling, swimming, running, aerobics, rowing, stairclimbing, etc.

Start with 2 or 3 days of your chosen activity a week with a rest day between workouts.

Begin with a 5-10 minute warm up of light cardio to gradually increase heart rate.

Increase your pace and intensity to slightly harder than comfortable .

End each workout with a cool down of light cardio and stretch the muscles you've worked to relax and keep your muscles flexible.

Each week, increase your workout time by a few minutes until you can work continuously for 30 minutes a session.

Don't worry about distance or pace. For the first few weeks, focus on showing up for your workouts and building time. You have plenty of time to work on your speed and distance.

After 4-6 weeks, change your routine by adding another day of exercise, increasing your pace/intensity, adding a new activity and/or increasing the amount of time you exercise.

For the detailed article about cardio workouts, the types of cardio workouts and how to get most out of your cardio routines, log on to fitness section of Cherishing Life.

Lindsay Lohan Girlfriend to host Reality Show

In case you didn’t know, Samantha Ronson is getting her own reality show. Sigh. The only thing interesting about following the life of a lesbian DJ with the body of a 10 year old boy, is that THIS lesbian DJ is Lindsay Lohan’s on again off again girlfriend who is currently in the off again position.
Actually, the lesbian part is kind of interesting .

Unfortunately (or fortunately) Ms. Lohan will not be appearing in this reality show. When Samantha asked her to appear, she refused and called the idea “dumb”. Lindsay is attempting to revitalize her career and feels that a reality show would be more of a setback than a step forward. We couldn’t agree more!!! With the amount of reality shows there are (and the fact that ANYONE can get one), we are almost ready to boycott reality shows that aren’t competitions or game shows (except for The Hills. Love that shizz!).

Lindsay is rumored to have signed on to director Robert Rodriguez’s (Desperado, Sin City) latest film Machete, which is also rumored to feature Robert Deniro, Jonah Hill, Michelle Rodriguez and Steven Seagal. Not a bad way to revive your career.

For more celebrities news and gossip ,log on to Celebrities Section of Cherishing Life.

Play To Teach your Toddler and Baby

Play to Teach your 8-12 months old

Your child has gone from tiny newborn to curious infant, reaching out and exploring his or her surroundings. That curiosity and readiness to learn will continue as your baby becomes more mobile during these next few months.

What Is My Child Learning?

Your little one will make great strides in learning. Play will take on a new dimension as language emerges. During these next few months, your baby's babbling will start to morph into words like "mama," "dada," and "baba." These will emerge randomly at first, but your baby will soon learn to associate them with mom, dad, and bottle.

Your baby will begin to use gestures like pointing and waving for expression. This is also the stage where your infant will understand more of what you are saying, including the word "no!"

As your child gets more mobile and interested in exploring, it's important to provide supervision and to make sure to childproof the house to prevent accidents.

Babies this age are very busy learning how to move around. They learn to crawl during this stage, though some will develop more novel ways of getting around, such as creeping on their bellies, scooting on their bottoms, or rolling to where they want to go. It doesn't matter so much how babies get around as long they're able to move their arms and legs equally and coordinate both sides of the body.

How to encourage learning and for detailed article log on to kids section of Cherishing Life.

Play to Teach your 1-2 years old

What Kids Are Learning

Kids transition from babies to toddlers during the second year of life, as tentative first steps give way to confident walking. As your toddler starts exploring, be sure to childproof your home to prevent household accidents.

Language. Kids this age also make major strides in understanding language and figuring out how to communicate. At 12 months, most say their first word and start to use hand gestures and point to things. Gradually, their vocabulary will grow from one or two words to 50 words or more.

Your child will learn about language through interaction with you and other caregivers. During year two, a toddler's vocabulary increases slowly over the first 6 months and then expands quickly during the second 6 months, when many start to use simple two-word sentences. By the second birthday, you'll probably lose count of the number of words your toddler can say!

Understanding of language also improves — most toddlers understand much more than they can express.

Playing. Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity will also improve. Toddlers gain better control over fingers and hands and can explore toys and surroundings more than before. Look for toys that encourage this, as mastering age-appropriate toys and games gives toddlers a sense of satisfaction and encourages them to move on to more challenging tasks.

How kids play also changes. As an infant, your child may have "played" with toys by shaking, banging, or throwing them. Your toddler now is aware of the function of objects, so is more likely to stack blocks, listen or talk into a toy phone, or push a toy car. In addition, the concept of pretend play starts to emerge. Your little one may pretend to drink from an empty cup, use a banana as a phone, or imagine a block is a car.

Emotions at Play

Play Dates. Many parents introduce play dates now. Toddlers enjoy having other kids around, but don't expect them to "play" cooperatively with each other or to be enthusiastic about sharing toys. Have plenty of toys for everyone and be prepared to intervene when they don't want to share. Older siblings can serve as role models when it comes to teaching, sharing, and taking turns.

For detailed article, log on to kids health section of Cherishing Life.

Swine flu is related to obesity,Tamiflu is not recommended for children under 12 years old

Obese people may be at greater risk of death or severe complications from the new H1NI virus, according to researchers.
A recent report shows a “striking” prevalence of obesity among patients hospitalized in Michigan.

Nine of 10 patients with the pandemic flu strain admitted to an intensive care unit at Ann Arbor from late May to early June, were obese and seven were “extremely obese,” with a body mass index of at least 40, doctors said. Three of the 10 died and seven had no other known health problems.

Children with seasonal flu should not be given Tamiflu because harmful side effects may outweigh relatively meagre benefits, according to a study released Monday.

In some children Tamiflu caused nausea and vomiting, which can lead to dehydration and other complications, researchers reported.

The study did not cover the current outbreak of swine flu, but it suggests that antivirals may not significantly reduce the length of illness or prevent complications in children infected with the new A(H1N1) virus, the researchers said.

Carl Henegan, a doctor at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and co-author of the study, said the current British practice of giving Tamiflu and Relenza -- the brand names for the antivirals oseltamivir and zanamivir -- for mild illness was "an inappropriate strategy."

"The downside of the harms outweigh the one-day reduction in symptomatic benefits," he said.

For complete news and more news about swine flu and Tamiflu, log on to Fitness section of Cherishing Life.

The Japanese virgin wives seek solace with other men

Like many Japanese women, Junko waited until her early 30s to get married. When she and her fiance, an employee of a well-known firm, decided to tie the knot, she set her sights on making a home, putting away some money and starting a family.

Fifteen years later, Junko and her husband are childless. It is not that they cannot have children; it is just that they have never had sex.

The sexless marriage is one of several reasons why experts fear Japan is on the verge of a demographic disaster.

In 2003 Japan's birthrate hit a record low of 1.29 - the average number of times a woman gives birth during her lifetime - one of the lowest rates in the world, according to the cabinet office. The population will peak next year at about 128 million, then decline to just over 100 million by 2050.

The 200 women a year who seek help at a clinic in the Tokyo suburbs have not had sex with their husbands in up to 20 years, and some never, according to Kim Myong-gan, who runs the clinic.

"The women who come to see me love their husbands and aren't looking for a divorce," he told the Guardian. "The problem is that their husbands lose interest in sex or don't want sex from the start. Many men think of their wives as substitute mothers, not as women with emotional and sexual needs."

For complete story, log on to news section of Cherishing Life.
