Prom Time!

This weekend was picture perfect. That lends itself wonderfully to making for perfect prom photos. And so it happened: I was asked by a good family friend to help with some snapshots before these Suncoast boys ::ahem, Men:: took their pretty dates off for a memorable evening and life milestone. Because the evening was so perfect I felt almost like I didn't even leave the comfort of my own home since my two boys ::ahem, Men:: were able to accompany me. It was a hop, skip and a jump from my home so we took the sea wall by stroller and snapped away. Hope you enjoy looking at these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them!

As I sit down to enter this blog preview for such a fun family it's occurred to me that I have been slacking on keeping up with these entries...and didn't I promise a bit on a trip to Belgium earlier this year? Well, the season is upon us here in South Florida and WP inks has been quite busy with a hardy mix of Photography events and portrait sessions, Calligraphing wedding invitations, a new Etsy Storefront and a better understanding of Twitter!

Well, it's been noted that I need to keep up with this better! In the meantime, below is a preview to a newly formed family of three. Snapping this little one's 6-Month Photos {Congrats, Renee & Ben!} was fun as he was all smiles as we took him from setting to setting. Speaking of "setting', the sunset that day was just perfect and photographing on a dock made for some beautiful images! Enjoy!

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of documenting this little girls Second Birthday at My Gym and it was the perfect place for a party! But what kind of party isn't great with a beautiful cake, smiling parents, circle time, Elmo, a pretty pink dress and family in from Venezuela?! Portraits on The Beach!

It was so spectacular to hear from an old classmate at Cardinal Newman about having family photos taken for her and her family. I must say that I honestly felt "giddy like a school girl" from anticipation over seeing someone who I hadn't seen in ten plus years! It made for some serious reflection on reality of what's happened in the last (okay, so we are Class of '00 Graduates!!) twelve years and it's funny how this timeline of events often holds true for many of my friends and classmates since High School: Walking Down the Aisle, Loving the Blissful Joy found in a new life shared, starting a company or watching friends begin their dreams, Having a Baby, and continuing as each day in appreciation of the milestones. Wow, bet you didn't expect to have a decade of nostalgia wrapped into a single blog entry! In any event, wishing Petrina and her family much fun while perusing their photos:

So, as tempted as I was to just publish these photos without a blog entry (because when busyness ensues it tends to just take over the fun parts of life ::Ahem:: like writing about the photo sessions!) this one was just too special to not give a story to it! And so the "so..." begins again:

This is a "Trash the Dress" photoshoot. This couple was married four years ago and have spent that time together building a family of four. Not only is this my first time being asked to photograph moments in former wedding day attire in a non-wedding setting (i.e.: let's roll around in the sand and take the kids in the ocean while all fully dressed!) but also good friends of ours whose wedding we were able to happily look upon while on a cliffside Costa Rican Resort that overlooked the rainforest and the sea four years ago. So, cheers to to you, Melissa and Tony, for enjoying your time along the way and wanting to relive the fun of dolling up while being surrounded by your little ones! Here's to many more years!

This little sweetie was the best sleeper! He was so chill- letting us prop him all over the house and even under the sweltering morning sun (shaded, of course!). He'd open his eyes, look around, see that not much more than a camera and me had been added to the normal morning mix and would ease back into slumber! Congratulations Christina, Jason & Big Brother Jason, Junior on a beautiful new addition to your family! Hope that you enjoy your photos...I certainly have loved reviewing all of these!

A Beach Photo Shoot Is Is!

When I showed up to photograph this little girl on her Fifth Day of Life (Congratulations Kim & Dave!) the sun was shining bright and the nearby Intracoastal Waterway was glistening in the light. As many newborn photo sessions go, there was a beaming Grandma standing by with support, a doting new Father and a Mother eagerly trying to juggle everything all while ensuring that her daughter's pink frills look like perfection. And, then there's Gracie the Dog. While I'm photographing I tend to be so focused on what I'm doing that any chatting I may be doing doesn't "stick". But one thing I won't forget was Gracie the Dog being reminded that while she's still holds a special place in the family lineage, she is now outranked. In my little time there, she showed fine protective qualities- note the photo below of her looking up at Baby Lucy. What a sweet pup. Enjoy!

Life is precious. Life is short. Life is full of moments. Moments can be fleeting. Memories are made.

Can you imagine what one year of all of that greatness felt like? This family of three surely does and the culmination of that time came together for a birthday gathering in Delray Beach! I can't believe how much little Gage has grown since I last saw him for his six month photos. He may be bigger but he's still such a beautiful, blue-eyed boy {Congrats Monica and James!}! One thing that cannot be overlooked from this first birthday is the presence of one Mister Elmo. The grown ups were lots of fun for the children to be around, that is until the lovable, red character showed up straight in from Sesame Street! His songs and dance lit up the birthday boys face even more than having a personal-sized cake for the taking! There were so many moments...Enjoy!

90 Years of Life!

Recently, I had the opportunity to photograph a 90th Birthday Gathering {Happy Birthday Mr. Brodell!} and it was such a flurry of life and family! But what else would you expect when the offspring flew in from as far away as Japan as well as throughout The States? When I received a call about how special a group photo of such a far-reaching group would be my excitement got the best of me. Coming from a large family myself, I know how important it is to "have the whole gang together"...and have photographic evidence of such! Cheers to this wonderful family!

B Family Preview!

These boys are the best example of Sibling Love that I have seen in awhile! While they're both still your typical boys who to collected sticks along the trail, wrestled in the grass and couldn't wait to play with their Star Wars figurines, they still look out for one another. Little Dylan seems to genuinely look up to his big brother while Cody seems to always be ready to help his little brother. This is endearing in any family but particularly tugs on my heartstrings knowing how I met this family. It was at a walk in honor of Dylan and others experiencing life with Neurofibromatosis. How appropriate that this photo shoot was held at Riverbend Park where that walk was also held- 360 I tell ya!

I can't wait to share a snap or two of their family portraits to soon be shared on WP inks- I was told by their Mom that this was to be their first-ever family of four portrait. I was flattered to be the one to make that happen! So excited, in fact, that instead of getting some much needed "zzz's" before my newborn needs midnight grub I decided to sneak this peek onto the blog! Enjoy!

Maternal Instincts

This couple chose a beautiful, perfectly sunny day to have a mini-maternity session along Flagler Drive. Gracie the dog came along and was equally as photogenic to make for some lovely photos. Come a couple months from now there will be an addition to their family...I look forward to both meeting and photographing their little one! Congrats Kim and Dave!

Photographing this little Domenic and his momma was a really uplifting way to begin the month of March. Because not only is he a tiny cutie (Congrats Elissa!) but swapping motherhood stories and hospital-woes...and "Whoas"...made for a lovely afternoon- the only thing missing was a cup of tea! But I digressed from the photo shoot at hand: This little boy was such a curious one watching me snap away and being so good while awake. There is only one photo below where he's expressing his momentary discontent and, let me tell you, he's a charmer in that photo even with the frown. Enjoy!

Motherhood is...

...and, yes, changing diapers can feel repetitive...

...but ultimately it's totally dreamy...
