We decided for our last day, we wanted to stroll the streets of London and experience the city outside rather than inside a museum. The weather this week has been absolutely glorious so it seemed a shame to stay inside at all. We started out in the SoHo area and made our way out:

We walked all the way to Hyde Park to people watch and take a few fun photos. We had the most fun being all romantic under the massive statue of Achilles. I loved Queen Elizabeth’s Gate so much, I might have to have a replica made for our front door back in LA :)

After the park, we made our way to Harrods for high tea. David and I were really bummed that we missed out experiencing high tea here in London back in 2008 on our first visit so we didn’t want to miss it again this time around Earl Grey is the ONLY way to go … and it was delicious. The pastries, buns and sandwiches were all so good … I don’t understand how people eat and drink all of this stuff and then go out for dinner afterward. Harrods is crazy … you need a map to navigate all the different floors. I could drop a pretty penny in that place … sadly, we didn’t have much time to shop:

Last night, for our last night on the town, we decided to hit up the famous G-A-Y club for drinks and a bit of dancing:

Naturally they played only the best music … Britney, Madonna, Kylie … Missy Elliott, Steps, Spice Girls … we had a blast. Because of Sarah’s early flight, we didn’t want to stay out too late so … we made our way home at about 1AM.

And that’s that. This crazy whirlwind trip is over. I’m still a bit shocked that David and I are engaged … honestly, I don’t think the reality will truly set in until we get home to see our family and friends. It’s still a bit of a dream to me (and I keep looking down at my ring to remind myself that I’m not dreaming). This has truly been one of the most exciting and memorable experiences of my life. That I got to share it with my best friend because the man I’m going to spend the rest of my life wanted her to be here with us is just … everything.

Thank YOU people of London! You have treated 3 Yanks from the colonies very well and I love you so much for it. I know that we will be back to experience more of your vibrant, exciting and welcoming city.

This is the second time in the last few weeks that we have seen Viola photographed with own hair. She graced the pages of the LA Times as their cover story in February and looked absolutely stunning. This week Viola decided to do it again, for the pre-Oscar party at the private Alfre Woodard dinner and at the 5th Annual Women In Film Pre-Oscar Party at Cecconi’s Restaurant on February 24th.

She explained that her husband, Julius Tennon, “wanted me to take the wig off.” “He said, ‘If you want to wear it for your career, that’s fine, but in your life wear your hair. Step into who you are!’ It’s a powerful statement.”

I think Viola looks magnificent with her own short hair. I think she looks equally gorgeous with her wigs, which she has worn for years. I do understand that she would need to wear wigs for different roles because she may not be able to play particular characters with her natural short hair, but I think that her husband is right – in her own life, she should wear her own hair. It also looks beautiful.

Last we heard from Seth he had gotten himself hitched to long term girlfriend, Lauren Miller, back in October last year. Seth is without doubt a funnyman. He has made a name for himself in the ‘stoner comedies’ so in my opinion he is totally deserving of this highly regarded award…think Knocked Up with Katherine Heigl, The 40-Year-Old-Virgin, Funny People. He also co-wrote Superbad, Pineapple Express, and Da Ali G Show with Sacha Baron Cohen.

You can catch funny guy, Seth hosting the Independent Spirit Awards tonight, airing on IFC at 10 p.m. Ironically, Seth admits that he doesn’t usually see “these little independent movies….I wait until they come out or until tons of people tell me they’re good because I’m too busy seeing Mission Impossible.”

So, it is no surprise which movie Seth thinks should win the Oscars…

“I honestly thought Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol was one of the best movies of the year,” he says. “It got no love from the awards whatsoever. I love that [expletive] movie. It was great. I’m an Oscar voter. I voted for it.”

Lets all send our congratulations to Seth Rogen for taking home the coveted award, it is a major achievement that he should be very proud of.

Not many people now K’Naan but I think he is well worth knowing. He grew up in Somalia during the Civil War in the 90′s. He and his family managed to escape to America and eventually settled in Canada, but with such a childhood, it is hard not to find his music profound. You will hear a similarity in his voice to Eminem, bus his subject matter is very different. A lot of K’Naan’s music focuses on ending violence and bloodshed and he avoids gangsta rap cliches. He has also done some amazing work with the UN to raise awareness of issues in Somalia. He is a fascinating man who makes worthwhile music.

When I first heard this song with Nelly Furtado I wasn’t sure about it, but it has really grown on me, and now I love it. It is exciting too because it is a sign perhaps of the kind of music we will be getting from Nelly in a few months.

The deal is that Kevin commissioned the artwork, a collection of buffalo sculptures, from a local artist in the early 90s, when he was planning to build a resort. The artist is saying that she gave him a discounted price (of $300,000 apparently!) because her sculptures were going to be on display in the resort and she anticipated getting lots of publicity and more work. She is claiming that Kevin breached a contract with her when he failed to build his resort.

The case was first heard in February and now is going back on an appeal. Of course there are complex legal arguments from both sides, and hundreds of thousands of dollars on the line, but I just think it is unique and somewhat funny because it is all about buffalo sculptures… who would have thought?

Recently, Mrs Beckham has been getting some slack for looking gaunt and unwell. She has been seen looking extremely skinny of late, and I have to say, in some of the pics she looks tired and drawn. In the pic with Eva from the Vanity Fair party, she did look dare I say it, too thin.

In this shoot for Madame Figaro, Vic doesn’t look as tired, but then again, it is a magazine cover so there could have been all sorts of touching up down. I do like her hair with more of a tousled look, as she has here, and her face doesn’t look as gaunt IMHO. The only thing is, why is her hand up on her forehead? It kind of looks like she has a headache or is holding her head up. There is still a somewhat sad look in Vic’s eyes in this pic and the hand on her head only serves to make her look further drained. The mag title is “the reign of Victoria.” I love the Beckham’s so I just hope that Vic isn’t over doing it again. I do like this pic from an artistic point of view, but she also looks pained. I’m hoping this is just the photographer’s artistic expression…

The new Coen brothers film doesn’t have a release date yet, but given that they are still filming, I guess we can expect to only see this one in 2013. J.T. is going to be busy this year anyway as news of his upcoming marriage to Jessica Biel escalates. According to US Magazine, J.T and Jess’ big day will be this summer at a private estate. They got engaged over the holidays in December last year, but it has taken them both a while to make the news public. Even now, Jess is often seen without her engagement ring on, and she hasn’t made a big deal about the whole thing.

Guess we will have to wait and see what happens with these upcoming nuptials…

Seal is currently in Australia working on the Australian version of The Voice and performing his “Soul 2″ tour. He spoke to a radio show, the Fifi and Jules show, and told them that he felt obliged to give the public a “window into why his marriage ended” because he and Heidi had been so open about their relationship in happier times.

“When you publicize your marriage as much as our marriage was publicized, when you renew wedding vows, when you do all those things, what you are saying to people is … you’re giving people a picture of an ideal relationship that people aspire to…when it goes south, you can’t all of a sudden take the philosophy of a monk and decide to go for a vow of silence. It doesn?t really work like that….I respect my wife’s decision not to talk about that, but I felt that people at least deserved some kind of explanation why the picture of the ideal wasn’t what they thought it was.”

I think in a lot of ways it is true that Seal and Heidi’s marriage was held up on a Hollywood pedestal as being an “ideal” marriage to aspire to, and certainly, it seemed that way compared to many other celebrity relationships. After all, they seemed so in love and renewed their wedding vows annually. This is part of the reason we were all so shocked when they announced that they were separating.

I respect Heidi’s need for privacy but also Seal’s candidness, and I am very impressed with him wanting to show the public that their relationship was having problems, not just speaking out in happier times. This just makes them seem even more real and easy to relate to. Sadly, it wasn’t the ideal marriage that it had always appeared to be, but I think his openness has caused him to be respected throughout this whole sad saga. That, and the fact that he has said that through this difficult time, he has tried his “very best to protect the general welfare of my family, my wife included.”

Aww… what a good guy. It is very sad that this couple have moved apart, but even in their relationship’s end days, they have upheld themselves as a bit of an ideal couple, with so much love and respect for one another. I hope just hope they whole family finds happiness and peace in whatever their final decision is.

Michael Lohan and The Whopper weren’t meant to be after all … TMZ has learned Lindsay’s dad has decided to pass on the Burger King gig … and instead, he’s accepted a job at a Miami radio station. TMZ broke the story … the treatment center where Lohan is seeking court-ordered counseling told Michael to get a job to help transition back into normal functioning society (Reminder: Mike was ordered to complete treatment as part of his plea deal in his domestic violence case). Mike had initially applied to BK … but he’s since found a better gig with the WiLD 95.5 radio station in Palm Beach, FL. We’re told Mike will primarily take on the grunt work … but we wouldn’t be surprised if they featured him on air from time to time. The pay isn’t bad either — $8.25 an hour … 50 cents more than he would’ve made at Burger King. But he won’t be spending it all in one place … or at all … ’cause we’re told MiLo is planning to donate his entire paycheck to charity.

Meh. I guess it’s for the best. As much as I kinda sorta respected the guy for attempting a minimum job at a fast food restaurant, I had a hard time believing he would take the job seriously. My fear was that he would make a mockery of the gig, insulting the real hard-working folks who actually work those jobs diligently. On the radio, he’ll be able to do pretty much what he’s used to doing … annoying people over the airwaves. I think the folks at Burger King really dodged a bullet here … so they’re the real winners. I really love this photo … the texture of this new Spidey suit makes it look really damn cool. I mean, I not only want to see more … but I want to touch it, feel it. I wish the background wasn’t quite so red because the rich red mask kinda blends into the background. Still … this photo is very cool. My only problem with a superhero costume that looks this amazing is that I don’t understand how we are supposed to believe that mild-mannered Peter Parker was able to construct this suit all on his own. The materials look really expensive and the precisely fitted tailoring? C’mon. We’re supposed to believe a teenaged boy created this outfit all on his own with materials readily available to him? HMMM. Still, with a superhero film like this, you kinda hafta suspend belief a tiny bit (after all, we are talking about a boy endowed with spider powers that let him walk on walls). All in all, I do love the suit … despite the fact that it doesn’t even remotely resemble something that looks homemade.

Kylie Minogue has revealed that she wants to release a new album next year. The Australian singer, who will release a greatest hits compilation celebrating a quarter of a century in the music industry called ‘K25′ later this year, told Metro that she had begun work on new material and hoped to have finished her new LP in time for a 2013 release. She said: I have started on new music already. It should be ready for 2013″. The singer, who is working on the material at Abbey Road Studios, also hinted that she would be roping in some big-name guests for the album, which will be her 12th studio effort and the follow-up to her 2010 LP ‘Aphrodite’. Although she refused to reveal any names, she promised it would be “really exciting and different”. She also said that she had found working at Abbey Road inspiring due to its history and connections with bands such as The Beatles, adding: “I thought, ‘How much difference can a studio make?’ but it is a beautiful studio. The sound is just gorgeous – you know you are on hallowed ground.”

Wee!! The promise of new Kylie music is REALLY very good news, y’all. For the past 25 years, Kylie has consistently delivered the goods. Her most recent albums, Aphrodite and X especially, have been FANTASTIC collections of Pop songs … I am really very excited by what Kylie has in store for us next. I know that 2013 sounds like a lifetime away right now but it’ll be here sooner than we think. At least we have the forthcoming 25th Anniversary release of classic hits reimagined in orchestral form to look forward to this year. Whooooop!

Not since 2ge+her dropped the line U + Me = Us / I know my Calculus has a pop song so artfully explained mathematics so cleverly ;) I’m heartened by the fact that Paris Hilton appears to have finally abandoned the ridiculous pipe dream that she can ever become a Pop star. This is the kind of music that I can actually appreciate from her. Music like this, to me, is like that dessert you see on the menu that is made out of marshmallow cream, gooey caramel, melted chocolate, artificially-flavored strawberry sauce and candy rainbow sprinkles on top. It’s not something anyone would ever seriously eat for any nutritional value at all. But sometimes, you’re in the mood for something sweet, full of empty calories, that will satisfy your sweet tooth for the moment but then will end up giving you a stomach ache the day after. It’s fluff. It’s vapid. It can be fun. I gotta say, I am marginally entertained by this Drunk Text song … let’s see what other musical offerings Paris Hilton has to offer.

Between the 3 of us, David, Sarah and I snapped a LOT of photos and, unfortunately, I can’t share them all with you right here. But here are a few of my favorite photos that I snapped yesterday. The river ride was really very fun. We got to see a lot of amazing sights all at once and in the most glorious weather! After we finished our tour, we made our way to The Anchor Pub which, we were told, is one of the oldest pubs in London. The semi-modern pub that exists there now sits atop the ruins of an old pub that used to serve the likes of Oscar Wilde, Voltaire, Charles Dickens, William Shakespeare and more. Because The Anchor is very near the original site of Shakespeare‘s Globe Theatre, and the new site of the reconstructed Globe Theatre, we walked over so that I could just be close to the spot where William Shakespeare performed some of the greatest work in the history of the English language (you can see I am doing the famed “Alas, poor Yorick” scene from Hamlet in the third photo above). Of course, David and I managed to snap a few cute, romantic photos together:

Last night, the 3 of us met up with David Russell in Shepherd’s Bush for drinks and food. We enjoyed a really nice evening of conversation, which is always the case when we get to hang out with David. He is the first of our friends from home that we’ve gotten to see since we got engaged so … that was kinda fun, too :)

Today is our last full day here in London. Sarah flies back to Detroit really early tomorrow morning :( and David and I fly back to NYC tomorrow evening :( Still, this trip has already been a lot of fun. Eva’s foundation raises awareness of children’s health issues and problems affecting the Latino community, but the party last night also seemed to be an opportunity for the girls to party and let loose on a night out on the town. The happy snaps certainly look like they were relaxed and fooling around a bit. Both Eva and Vic tweeted throughout the night.

Vic wore a blue and black dress from her own collection, and tweeted, “favourite dress from AW12!” and “Night out with the girls!” Kate looked lovely in a bright pink Alexander McQueen dress, and Eva woe a very plunging black dress. Britney Spears is ready for her close-up. She’s done Glee, and now Britney is angling for a recurring role on Smash. According to a pal, Britney, 30, is already hooked on the NBC show — which takes place around a fictional Marilyn Monroe-based Broadway musical — and she’s working hard to join the cast, even for just a few episodes. A friend says Britney has always wanted to perform on Broadway, and this show would give her that chance — on TV at least. “She’s met with producers, and they’re looking for the appropriate role for her,” says the friend.

Alright … full disclosure … I don’t actually believe any of these casting rumors. Except for the Modern Family one, Britney herself has had nothing to say publicly about either The X Factor or Smash. It seems to me that gossips are bummed out that Britney is taking some downtime to be with her family and friends — out of the public eye — and they keep coming up with these fantasy scenarios where she comes back into the spotlight by appearing on various TV shows. While it’s possible that Britney MIGHT be interested in making her return to TV, it’s also possible that all of this talk is just a bunch of bullshizz. Still, it’s fun to imagine what it would be like to have Britney on any of these TV shows. If she wants to come back to TV, she’ll be able to do so … but until we hear something definitive, we prolly shouldn’t get our hopes up. But, again, it is fun to dream … ;)

SBC is no stranger to pushing comfort levels and notions of political correctness. As totalitarian strongman General Aladeen, his video today condemning the “Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Zionists” for banning him from the show is humorous and also slightly uncomfortable IMHO. He finished the statement by saying, “Death to the West! Death to America! And good luck, [Oscars host] Billy Crystal!” He is pretty funny Sacha Baron Cohen, but are his jokes overstepping the line this time? “Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Zionists”? It is quite clear that General Aladeen is meant to be a nod to Osama Bin Laden, or another Islamic leader. “Death to the West” is therefore coming scarily close to being very inappropriate.

Yesterday, an Oscars rep clarified that they had not yet barred Sacha from attending the awards show on Sunday. “We haven’t banned him,” the rep told THR. “We’re just waiting to hear what he’s going to do.” Sacha is known for getting into character and blurring the line between reality and fiction. This will also not be the first time that he has turned up at an award show in character. In 2006, he arrived at the Toronto Film Festival as Borat. He also rocked up as Bruno, the gay fashionista, at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. There is a good chance that he is going to come on Sunday as General Aladeen.

The Olympic producer has said that the show will, “go from (classical composer) Elgar to Adele.” There was some mention of the Spice Girls reuniting for the London Olympics, but that has been shut down by Victoria Beckham.

It comes as no surprise that Adele is one of the top contenders to perform at the London Olympics because she is one of the world’s biggest musical successes currently. She also embodies a very English identity and is therefore a perfect person to be in their British showcase. U.K. politicians at the House of Commons have even been fans of Adele, acknowledging that she is one of their top “exports”.

Conservative Member of Parliament Therese Coffey told the house, “I’m sure that you will be aware of the government’s efforts to promote exports… Will you join me in congratulating (Adele) in winning the Grammys.”

Yesterday, website HitsDailyDouble posted a rumour that said VEVO would release a lyric video of Madonna’s new single “Girls Gone Wild”. After all the gossip and doubt, Madonnarama can finally confirm that it’s true! A VEVO spokesperson told Madonnarama: As of right now, we are planning to premiere the lyric video to Madonna’s new single “Girls Gone Wild” tomorrow on VEVO. We can also give you a taste of what it’s like! “Girls Gone Wild” opens up the way “Like a Prayer” (the album) closes: with an “Act of Contrition” spoken by Madonna. The snippet included in the iHeartRadio MDNA megamix doesn’t really do the song justice. The beat of this song is simply insane! It’s the most danceable pop song you’ve ever heard! We can expect the remixes to kill everything. While I am intrigued by this song description, I think I’ll wait until I actually hear the song before I start making assumptions. I’m not sure what “most danceable pop song you’ve ever heard” will actually sound like so … I’ll wait. My hope is that Girls Gone Wild will be different from Gimme All Your Luvin’, mainly cuz I’m hoping there is a range of pop songs on M.D.N.A. Nicki has retained her signature pink curls and donned a sexy pink ball gown complete with long gloves to match her all-over blue hue. She has definitely made a name for herself as one of the craziest fashionista out there, with multiple personas and looks. Yesterday we spoke about the academy’s issues with Sacha Baron Cohen for wanting to walk to the Oscars red carpet in character. Nicki is very different to Sacha, but they both are stars who love embodying their characters and should we be stifling that for uniformity and conformity?

This vision of Nicki straddles both high glamor and quirky signature Nicki IMHO. I’m glad to see that Nicki hasn’t lost her own sense of individualism, even on the pages of Vogue. Nicki is outrageous, and I can’t think of anyone else that could pull off this look and still actually look glamorous. To me, she is more Beetle-Juice than Smurfette, but she could definitely be either.

A couple of weeks ago we got to see some sneak peak pics of an unknown future episode when they were filming Gossip Girl in NYC… in those pics we saw Blair and Dan kissing on the steps of The Met. We didn’t know then if this was real or just a dream sequence. Well, for those who have seen last week’s episode you would know that the Blair-Dan scenario is not that hard to believe anymore. The other snippet of information we get from the directors is that apparently Blair’s step dad has found a legal loophole in her pre-nup which could mean she can get an annulment from her royal wedding without paying the dowry.But, who is she going to choose – Dan, her new love, or Chuck, the supposed love of her life?

The directors have said that the love triangle that now exists between Blair, Dan and Chuck (and what about poor Serena?) is going to come to a head next episode. They also revealed that Serena’s dad will be back in town with some MASSIVE secret of his own…

Can you handle all the scandal, money and power that is going on in the Upper East Side? I personally am annoyed at the whole Blair-Dan (Dair) thing. Blair needs to choose one man and be with him. Not only was it Louis and Chuck, now it is Chuck and Dan. How does she fall in love so quickly?

Jen Aniston told The Hollywood Reporter that she “can’t imagine how you would do it, unless you did it years from now.” She also said that she thinks the whole fundamental character of the show was watching it from a couch in your living room, so it wouldn’t make sense to make it into a movie.

“Then it would be: “Who are these guys? What are we watching?” I can’t imagine what that would be. It’s not normal. Friends is in your living room; Friends is not in a movie theater. It doesn’t make sense to me. I think it would be going against its authentic self.

I was a HUGE fan of the series Friends, and I would be super excited if there was a film version made. It would need to have the 6 original stars on board for it to work, from my perspective. I think that a future vision of where the characters are in years to come COULD be amazing… ‘could’ though is the operative word. With such a classic, it would need to be very well thought out and written in such a way so it doesn’t ruin the memory of the series. Sex and the City comes to mind here…

I see what Jen is saying because it was definitely all about 6 friends sitting on a couch together, and the experience of watching the show was very much a living room experience, so a film version would definitely be a big change. Still, there are so many people that LOVED Friends and miss the show and characters dearly that I think a movie version would be well received. What worries me, and I imagine many others out there too, is how it would be done, and if it would damage the series as it stands in our collective memory.

As reported earlier in the week, Adele explained her action by saying that she “got cut off during my speech and flung the middle finger. But that finger was to the suits at the Brit Awards, not to my fans.” Adele did apologize if she upset any one and justified her actions, saying, she was “about to thank the British public for their support and they cut me off, and I’m sorry if I offended anyone, but the suits offended me, so thank you very much for all of your support.”

In response, the organizers of the Brits today announced:

“We regret this happened and we send our deepest apologies to Adele that her big moment was cut short this evening due to the live show over-running,” said a statement from Brit Awards organizers. “We don’t want this to undermine her incredible achievement in winning our night’s biggest award. It tops off what’s been an incredible year for her.”

U.K. television station ITV, who broadcast the event live, has also apologized to Adele stating: “The Brits is a live event. Unfortunately the programme was overrunning and we had to move on. We would like to apologize to Adele for the interruption.”

Trent was right in his prediction that the British are definitely less uptight than Americans about the whole middle finger flipping issue. We can see this by the sheer fact that they have felt the need to apologize to Adele. This is a pretty remarkable difference from the U.S. response to M.I.A. As Trent said, it is fabulous that Adele let the bird fly. What do you think was the difference over here in the States?
