For me, Sundays are all about keeping things easy and relaxed. Most of the time I'm doing laundry, grocery shopping and other chores on Sunday, but occasionally I do venture out for brunch or an afternoon coffee in the sun and when I do, I want to look chic without making any effort. Comfort is key for me on Sundays, so no heels or confining frocks if I can help it.

It's easy to achieve effortless weekend style - just remember these few useful tips: 1. Bright is right! 2. Mixing patterns is easy and interesting. 3. A pop of colour pulls together your look. Try a bright floral casual dress with a striped or polka dot bag in complimentary colours and finish the look with a pop of colour, either with some jewellery or your shoes. Of course sandals and flats are perfect for days like these, but if it's too chilly, boots and tights will work too!

I'm not the biggest fan of the oh-so-popular peplum trend - I just don't think it's very flattering on anyone who carries more weight than Kate Middleton and it doesn't particularly excite me. It's also getting a bit old, but I don't think it's going anywhere anytime soon... I will agree that it's very ladylike and chic though and I'm happy to see that H&M is now offering a modified version with a flat tummy panel, which will be much more flattering that having a giant protruding ruffle sticking out of my stomach!

Memorial Day weekend is here meaning for all my fellow Americans, it's finally summer! Open the summer houses, uncover the swimming pools and grease up the barbie cause it's time to revel in all the fun and ease that comes with summer!

I may not be living in the USA anymore, but I still associate summer with The Great American Road Trip - that spontaneous venture into the great unknown with nothing but a can of Red Bull, a car full of friends with the windows down and some fun music playing loud! Whether you're driving to the Hamptons this summer, taking a train from London to Cornwall, flying to Greece or cruising down Route 66, don't forget the importance of a soundtrack for your journey... These are the songs you'll hear 20 years from now on that will always remind you of summer 2012!

This is my perfect road trip list... Admittedly, it's a little random, but isn't variety the spice of life? A few songs to remind me where I've come from, where I've been and where I'm going... Some for bopping, some for singing along and some for bopping!

Glamorous A/W 2012 Press Day

Yesterday I attended the Glamorous A/W 2012 Press Day and I loved a lot of what I saw! I've only known about Glamorous for about a month and having never ordered anything from there, this was a great chance to see the clothes from the online retailer up close!

This sheer blouse with pearls on the collar was one of my favourite pieces from the day! It's versatile and could be worn year-round... In the summer, it'd be lovely on it's own and in the winter, this collar would look super chic peeking out of a lovely sweater.

Glamorous is a fairly new brand, having only launched late last year. Though the price points are very low, I was super impressed with the quality of most of the items, which seems to be a little better than some of its competitors. All the big trends are available at budget friendly prices for even the most frugal fashionista!

This cardigan is another of my favourites - it's so interesting and the quality is quite good. It feels really soft and luxe and the detail is really beautiful!

Barry M file & paint nail jobs were on available for guests. If you've never used Barry M before, definitely check it out. It's one of my favourite nail polish brands and super cheap!

Glamour's A/W 2012 collection is very versatile, offering pieces that range from super ladylike, to disco to edgy... There's definitely something for everyone and for all you fashion forward gals out there, it's an interesting palette for mixing feminine pieces with rocker chic pieces!

I also really loved these studded faux leather jackets. Unlike many imitation leather pieces that are hard or plastic to the touch, these are lush and soft. Only the trained eye at very close range could tell that it's not genuine leather... It's accessible fashion for budgets of all sizes!

Print shorts are all the rage right now and I just love this trend! Many people may be feeling apprehensive about buying shorts with a fun summer print on them because they don't go with everything. Don't let yourselves fall into the boring black, white, denim and khaki shorts black hole! If you choose shorts with micro prints, they basically become a more interesting neutral in your closet. Miniature floral, skinny stripe, thin chevron and micro polka dot prints are a good place to start. Wear them with contrasting solid pieces in your wardrobe and if you're brave, try adding accessories in an additional contrasting hue for a colour blocking effect.

I love this look! I recently bought a similar pair of shorts that I plan to wear with a similar yellow top - it's such a fun look and makes casual summer looks so much more interesting and fun!

I've been looking forward to Hart of Dixie since it first aired in the US and now it's showing on Really in the UK. I finally subscribed to it on iTunes and I'm completely addicted to - I've watched the 4 episodes I've gotten so far about 3 or 4 times each! I just love it! It's funny, moving, engaging and the fashions are fab... not to mention that it reminds me a little of home. I've been a fan of Rachel Bilson since I watched The OC on DVD from start to finish last year. Great show!

I've been hearing so much about Revenge from everyone in America for quite some time, so I've been keeping my eye out for it on iTunes to much disappointment... I was excited to find out today that it's coming to the UK! I've heard that it's starting next Monday, but I haven't confirmed... Does anyone know? Anyway, I'm really looking forward to seeing it!

I've loved Kristin Ritter ever since she was on Gilmore Girls so naturally I was excited when I first heard about Don't Trust the B in Apt. 23! Finally, it's coming to the UK on E4, starting Thursday! I can't wait to see it! If you've been watching in the US, I'd love to know what you think of it!

I attended the St. Regis International Cup polo match on Saturday. The first thing I thought once we booked the train tickets was "What on earth should I wear?" I googled like a mad woman, asked several British pals, consulted with Twitter pals and eventually took the advice of a friend. I opted for a floral day dress with a cardigan, pearls and Tory Burch Reva's. Since it was a little chilly, I also wore tights.

While I was dressed appropriately and there were several people around wearing similar outfits, I felt a little overdressed. I always stand by the old adage that it's better to be overdressed than the alternative, so I was fine with that, but I couldn't help notice that the majority of the people in the spectator's section were dressed in a more casual trad way than I was. Everything from boots and jeans to blazers and Barbour jackets... Looking around, it seems there's a way to dress at a polo tournament depending on which section you're in. Having never been before, I had nothing to rely on other than paparazzi shots on the internet and the advice of friends so how could I have known? There weren't any articles online to offer guidance of much use so I thought I'd share some insight for any of you that might be planning a trip to the polo grounds this summer.

It appears that some polo events are bigger than others. Some would only be available to members, while others would allow the general public to watch. For a large tournament with sponsors, there is usually a separate area for guests of the sponsors. Here's what to wear...

Spectator Sport:

If you're a member of the general public picnicking and watching from the sidelines, you can be a lot more casual than you might think. Most of the photos we see of celebrities on the internet or in glossies are from the Members Enclosure or sponsored tents, but in the picnic areas along the sidelines, things are a little more laid back. Comfort is key if you're sitting on the ground and you need good, solid shoes for 'treading' during the break. A traditional preppy style, a classic British country look or even a slightly Boho-chic ensemble will work and if you can find a way to work a little horsey reference into your ensemble, then all the better!

Though you can be more casual as a general spectator, you must stay chic - polo is a classy sport! Skinny jeans and riding boots are a fantastic option, but top it off with a cute top or classic shirt and a blazer to keep warm when it gets breezy. You'll most likely be exposed to the sun, so a cute hat will help to protect you from sunburns and classic Wayfarers are the trendy choice for shielding your eyes! A cute little cross-body bag to hold your essentials is ideal since you'll also be toting around your picnic gear. Top off the look with a piece of equestrian flare like a pair of horseshoe earrings! When in doubt, look to Ralph Lauren for inspiration... He didn't name the iconic brand Polo for nothing!

Members Only:

When attending a polo match, usually the grounds are on club premises, meaning of course that there are members, just like a country club. As such, there is what's called the 'Members Enclosure,' which is the area where members watch the event. If you're sitting in the Members Enclosure at a polo match, then chances are you're either the guest of a member or you've paid a hefty sum to dine in the members enclosure in addition to the non-members fee. Since you'll be either enjoying champagne & canapés or sitting down to a 3 course meal under the shelter of tents or umbrellas, it's only appropriate that you dress a little more formally and you won't be needing a hat. It is possible that people will be quite casual in the Members Enclosure, so it's important to be chic, but not over-the-top.

Here I've chosen a classic neutral pant suit with a polka dot pussybow blouse. Wedges are the best option where shoes are concerned because you'll be in a field and heels sink into the grass. Add a pop of colour with a classic red bag and finish the look with some classic gold accessories.

You may be thinking this look is a bit bland for summer, but trust me when I say it's classy and appropriate - also, the polka dots give it a light-hearted whimsical feel (not to mention that it's taking a note from the classic Pretty Woman polo scene) and wearing something light will set you apart from the sea of bright and sometimes tacky florals you're bound to encounter.

Step and Repeat:

There may come a time when you're invited to a polo event by the sponsors where you'll have access to the exclusive tent for mingling with celebrities, titans of industry and professional polo players while you watch the game. Your invitation may come because of business, your personal association with the sponsoring brand or perhaps you'll be the guest of someone else who was invited. Regardless of how you get there, you'll need to be prepared. Because it's a press opportunity for the sponsor, there will undoubtedly be press at the event along with photographers and it's entirely possible that you may be photographed on the step and repeat. For those of you who don't know what that is, it's the logo covered backdrop you often see on a red carpet where celebrities are photographed at an event. If you're not a celebrity or otherwise notable, your photo probably won't appear in the press, but in this day and age of technology and social media, it's more likely than not that your photo will appear in the Facebook album for the event which could be seen by thousands of people. Obviously you want to look your best and be dressed appropriately!

This is a great opportunity to pull out that amazing summer dress that's been taking up valuable real estate in your closet. Don't wear something too short or revealing - you'll regret it later! Choose a knee-length or maxi dress in a bright colour or print that you feel confident and pretty in. Since you may be photographed, it's important that you wear something you're comfortable and confident in. Steer clear of red as it won't show up well if there's a red carpet, but otherwise keep it bright!

This yellow and white print dress by Moschino Cheap & Chic is perfect for an afternoon polo match and it's shape is very flattering for most body types. Again, wedges are perfect for the terrain, but since you won't be near the horses, go ahead and wear open-toe sandals. Just make sure you have a pedicure and that your toenails are painted in a neutral shade or a complimentary colour. A statement necklace and stud earrings tie it all together and keep the look interesting. When it comes to choosing your bag, stay away from anything too big - it will only get in your way and obstruct the view of your beautiful frock!

Obviously every club and event is different - having only been to one tournament, I couldn't possibly know it all, but this should be a good guide for what to wear if you ever find yourself looking forward to a day of polo!

The sun is finally peeking out occasionally meaning that it's officially maxi dress season in London! Bright summery maxi's aren't just for frolicking on the beach and wandering through the countryside... They can just as easily be city chic! Add some fabulous sandals and a cocktail ring and your summer seaside maxi dress is perfect for a day in the big city! Switch out the sandals for flip-flops and the jewellery for a floppy hat and this city gal look becomes the perfect holiday outfit.

The 5th Annual St. Regis International Cup

On Saturday I attended the St. Regis International Cup polo match at Cowdray Park. It was a spur of the moment thing really as I won tickets last week from The Lady Magazine that arrived only a few days before the match.

It was easy enough to get to Cowdray Park from London. We took a Southwest Train from Clapham Junction to Haslemere and from there took a taxi to the grounds which took about 20 minutes. It wasn't cheap though - the entire journey set us back about £100 (£40 for 2 return train tickets and £60 return cab journey), but for a great day out and minimum spend at the event, it was worth it.

It was a lovely sunny day, perfect for a picnic! We packed up sandwiches, wraps, nibbles and some drinks along with our picnic mat and enjoyed a day out in the sun, something we haven't had here in quite some time!

I wasn't quite sure what to wear, so I took some advice from friends and wore this comfortable Simply Vera Wang dress that I bought back in 2009 with a LOFT cardigan, pearls and my Tory Burch Reva's. It was sunny and warm, but there was a cold breeze so I played it on the safe side with some black tights and I was happy I did when it got cooler later in the day.

My husband wore this classic Tommy Hilfiger shirt with khakis and Rayban Wayfarers. He looked more appropriate than I did - the group behind us of about 10 guys and gals were all sporting the same sunnies!

The match was particularly exciting for me as it was the US vs. England - the first time England has hosted the US Polo Team on British soil in 15 years.

England wore red & white, while the US boys played in blue - they were all hot! Super handsome and very fit fellas! Polo is a great sport for eye candy!

The USA started the match with a 1/2 point advantage which is done so there can be no ties.

When they took the break, I took part in the 'treading' or as us Pretty Woman fans would know it, the "stomping of the divets" and had my Julia Roberts moment! It was actually fun and a great way to stretch your legs after sitting for so long... Very similar to the 7th inning stretch in baseball!

I'm not a fan of my look for the day with flat shoes, but this is why one must wear comfortable, flat shoes to polo - for treading! Unfortunately, sometimes one must choose function over fashion...

While we watched from our picnic area and members watched from their lunch tent, there were a select few watching the action from the St. Regis tent, which was right next to our picnic spot.

England won the match by 1/2 point - it was a very close game, with both teams holding a hefty lead just minutes before the end of the match! Very exciting sport!

We stayed and watched the awards ceremony and I was very impressed that even the horses are awarded when they play well. The MVP was a member of the American team, which softens the blow of a loss.

After the awards, both teams gave out signed photos - I managed to snag the last photo of the American team to keep in my scrapbook for posterity and to remind me always of my first polo match! With shopping, food, drinks, a fun fair and a jazz band, this was certainly a very fun event! I know not all matches are so exciting, but the sport is exhilarating and a picnic in the sun is always fun! I would definitely go see a polo match again and I'd recommend it for families, couples, groups or even dog lovers as many grounds will allow dogs on the premises and some will even have a dog agility course between matches. Happy Friday! Friday's should be casual when appropriate and if possible, why not rock a look that will take you from day to night? I love the coloured denim trend and it can be effortlessly chic when mixed with dark neutrals like grey and black for a rock & roll look! Keep it sassy with an arm party and some funky earrings, but functional with fun flats and a bag you could fit your whole life into!

Currently obsessed with these adorable cards from Colette Paperie! At only $3.50, they're very reasonably priced, not to mention cute and original. These aren't your grandma's cards... They're so much better than most of the drivel you find in the card aisle at your local supermarket and the recipient will appreciate the effort you've put into choosing just the right card to say how you feel! My favourite? The one that says "The Bigger the Hair, the Closer to God", but you knew that already, didn't you?

Ann Summers Press Day

Today I attended the Ann Summers Press Day - I've never really been an Ann Summers customer, but I thought I'd be open minded and give it a shot... I actually had a great time!

Ann Summers is known here in the UK for their risqué lingerie, naughty nurse type ensembles and other various toys, accessories, games, etc. for improving intimacy. Contrary to popular belief, Ann Summers isn't just a naughty sex shop - some of the new pieces are actually very beautiful and the bonus is that the price point is quite low so anyone can afford to be sexy and feminine.

Many of the new pieces feature delicate French embroidery that looks so expensive, yet will hard even come close to breaking the bank!

The event was held in the Haymarket Hotel, a beautiful spot in Central London.

One of my favourite pieces I saw was this slip that has a bit of a black on sheer black animal print look to it. What's great about it is that the knickers are built in - it's pretty, sexy and perfect for wearing under a dress or skirt.

Urban Retreat at Home were on hand to apply false eyelashes and groom eyebrows. I had my botched eyebrow wax from a few weeks ago evened out.

Champagne, soft drinks, pastries and caramel corn kept guests refreshed as they mingled.

An artist created caricatures of guests - he was fantastic! I wish I had gotten one, but I ran out of time...

Also on hand was Lauren's Way by Lauren Goodger for Essex style make-overs! I had some false lashes put on...

I don't normally wear false lashes, but I kind of like them... What do you think?

I love this maxi dress from Esprit! I have a few maxi dresses from there and they're so great, timeless and comfortable - a great addition to a summer wardrobe that you can wear year after year. Now, I know it's only Thursday, but this is the perfect weekender look! It's also great for dinner while on holiday and you can even throw a cardigan over it and wear it to work if you have a casual office!

A neutral maxi dress in brown, grey or black can be a great investment because there are so many ways to wear it. Different accessories in pops of colour will work well. Trade your necklace for a vibrant pattern scarf or replace the tote with a cute orange leather cross-body bag. A cardigan layered over it during the day gives warmth and a new look, while a leather or denim jacket could add some edge to it for a different night look.

Pink Julep Picks: My Flash Trash

Yesterday I took a little trip east to visit the girls at My Flash Trash for a copy and a look at the jewellery. If you're a Made in Chelsea fan, you may recognise the name as it's the online jewellery boutique founded by cast member, model and entrepreneur Amber Atherton.

Founded in 2008, My Flash Trash sells on-trend jewellery by various up and coming designers as well as it's own Flash Trash branded pieces.

New additions to the Flash Trash website include these adorable Poetry Friendship Bracelets, featuring lines of poetry by Greta Bellamacina, author of Kaleidascope, a collection of her poems. They're made in Guatamala and 100% Fair Trade.

I had a lovely time poking around in the showroom, trying on jewellery and photographing everything available at My Flash Trash, which offers pieces to suit all budgets. Ranging from £10 to £500 and beyond, there is something for everyone and if you don't see exactly what you want, don't worry - they can make arrangements with the designers for bespoke orders for you!

Nothing says summer like a crisp shirt dress and what's great about such a frock is that it's a blank canvas for accessorising it however your fashionable little heart desires! Since this dress is bright orange, it screams for a mix of neutrals such as olive, navy and brown to give it an interesting safari meets Cape Cod Clambake feel, but it would also look great with bright turquoise or yellow accessories and even black or pearls.

On Saturday I attended the Buy My Wardrobe shopping event at the 20th Century Theatre in Notting Hill. I had no idea what a treat I was in for - table after table of high-end lightly used (some pieces never used) high-end fashion at bargainista-friendly prices!

The showroom was laid out beautifully and if you're a magpie like me, you'll love attending these events just for the sheer enjoyment of seeing so many beautiful things all in one place!

Some sellers are businesses that specialise in vintage or consignment type sales of gently used designer fashions while others are women who happen to have amazing wardrobes bursting at the seams and are looking to shed a bit of weight from their closets. It's really a fabulous idea and it promotes recycling instead of just chucking things in the bin, so it's eco-friendly too!

There were plenty of drinks on hand and masseuses available to give weary shoppers a neck massage!

Because there are several sellers at the Buy My Wardrobe event, there's no shortage of gorgeous shoes and clothes in multiple sizes! It's actually a really great way to vintage shop, especially if you're a hard-to-find size in either shoes or clothes.

The events usually require a ticket for entry and the prices depend on what time you'd like to enter. First entry is the most expensive and in this instance, included champagne and first look at the merchandise. Usually the final entry during the last hour or two of the sale is free. You aren't allowed to take bags into the sale with you, though a bag check is provided, but if you're ultra-prepared, leave a bulky handbag at home and just bring your wallet!

The Jubilee is near and if you're like me, you're starting to think about what you'll wear for the parties and events you'll be attending. 'Patriotic' is likely to be the dress code which comes in handy for us Americans in London since we've no shortage of red, white & blue from the various 4th of July fetes we've attended in the past.

The best way to wear the look without looking like a walking flag is to make good use of a print! A simple print dress that makes use of all three colours in a subtle fashion is the way to go. Leave the dominant colour to do it's job and pull out the the other shades, in this instance navy blue, with accessories to get the pop of colour that always makes an outfit look so complete. There are tiny navy dots in between the red flowers on this adorable Mango frock - make them sing with a navy statement necklace, bag and a comfy cardigan for keeping warm if the temperatures drop and you're ready to party!
