Sad news this morning as GALLOPS have announced they’ve split. Details were unclear last week when the Wrexham 4 piece suddenly withdrew from the remaining tour dates with And So I Watch You From Afar. And it seems now that their show in Paris last week was to be their last.

The band released an EP and a 7″ before last year’s critically acclaimed debut full length ‘Yours Sincerely Dr. Hardcore’. You can stream/download all of them from the band’s bandcamp.

Gallops EP (2010)
Joust/Eukodol (2011)
Yours Sincerely, Dr. Hardcore (2012)

They’ve also put up a farewell T-Shirt HERE

Here is the official statement from the band:

“Hello Earth,

We are sad to announce that as of now Gallops is dead. We’ve been to some really great places over the last 6 years and met some amazing people but Gallops as we know it has unfortunately run it’s course.

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has supported us along the way.

Watch this space for future projects from members of the band. Music will continue, Gallops will not.

Love you all,

Mark, Paul, Dave, Brad

X”

And here is the critical response to their first, and sadly last album:

“One of 2012’s most resounding debuts” BBC

“A mammoth of a debut album – Album Of The Month” Artrocker

“A grand and seemingly natural musical journey that is both challenging, rewarding and overwhelmingly awe-inspiring” Musical Mathmatics

“A high tempo blaze of piston-punch beats, stabbing guitar and flickering electronics that leave little time for recovery” Loud & Quiet

“An album packed with intelligence and fearless musical boundary pushing” Crack

“A proggy sense of mystery and theatricality… Ultimately, the results expand math-rock’s possibilities” The Skinny

“The thing that makes ‘Yours Sincerely, Dr Hardcore’ so soul destroying is this: it’s brilliant” TLOBF

“Gallops customarily serve up instrumental soundscapes that match metallic brawn with a serrated electronic edge…. attending to both cerebral and dancefloor pleasures” MOJO

“an impressively sprawling album” The Quietus

“Instrumental clever-clogging for intellectual headbangers” Q

“An hypnotic energetic instrumental album that’ll appeal to rock and dance fans alike” Clash

“Hardcore riffs, demented synths and a jerky groove from Wrexham’s answer to Battles” The Times

RIP GALLOPS 2007-2013
