These are g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s! They're by American Crafts and they're my new ribbons. I bought them from QVC on Craft Day. Actually I bought 2 sets - one for me and one for you!

And they're the prize for a new challenge : )

Five lovely new additions to the Colour Collection this weekend : )

The designs are all either new designs which were included in some way in recent Collections such as Spooky Doodlies & Fairy Lights, and which lend themselves perfectly to the Colour Collection. Or they were requests.

They are Grannie's Wallpaper, Snowflakes, Ribbon Stripes, Doodles & a super value Pinstripes design which has 4 sizes included.

There's a fabulous article in this month's Cardmaking & Papercraft magazine (Issue 72 Christmas) by Dorothy Wood using the 'Tis The Season Christmas Collection.

It's called '10 ideas for Christmas', it's on pp28-30 and Dorothy has created 10 very funky Christmas items including gift tags, a gift bag, a place setting for your Christmas table & the most fantastic sweetie box!

And they all have instructions too : )

Pillow Box

Did you want the template for the little Pillow Box I made as a Halloween gift?

And the card I used? I made it using a ready-made A5 corrugated card base which I bought on eBay. I lined up the centre fold on the template with the fold already in the card and it made the box very simple to cut out & make.

The card is a really lovely colour & I thought they were a good price too. I'm not sure I would use them as a base for making a card as they have lines along them. But they certainly made a nice quality gift box. They were just perfect for this!

Fairy Lights

And this is it - new for Christmas 2009 - 'Fairy Lights'.

It went onto the web site a few days ago and you LOVED it! So much so that we almost went into overload with a web site crash looming for 24 hours after I'd sent the newsletter. So even though it was a little scary for a short while, I do know you like it lol & I'm really pleased about that : ) And everything is back to normal now.

It's focus is Christmas Trees, and there are 5 little tree images specially designed for you to decorate with cute little buttons & sparkly crystals or paper-piecing cut-outs. One of them has it's very own paper buttons which will punch with your 1.5cm punches. And whichever one you choose, your cards will be as much fun to create this year as they will be to give.

There are two colour palettes in it - 'Merry & Bright' which is based around pinks & greens (and is very girly) and 'Peace & Joy' (shown above) which is based around blue & red. And both are VERY trendy this season.

It isn't often we see a whole load of card ideas for men's cards, all in one place. Let alone great ideas. But that's exactly what the girls from the Allsorts challenge blog have on offer for us this week.

Their challenge is 'Kraft', it's sponsored by Pink P so there's a free download for the winner, and the Design Team chose to use the 'Big Fella' Collection for their inspirations, because of the printable Kraft card it contains.

It's a collection geared mainly towards cards for men & boys ... & the cards they have designed with it are just wonderful.

Printing a Background onto a Card Blank

You want to know how I printed my background paper designs onto my card blanks to make these cards?

Using a temporary spray adhesive I stuck my card blank onto a blank sheet of paper & popped it into my printer. I then printed my paper design, lifted the card away from the backing paper ... & voila! A printed card base : )

The colour of your card blank will affect the printed result you get of course. And spray the adhesive only very lightly. You need just enough to stop the card slipping whilst it is printing. Too much and it will leave a residue on your card.

For these, I used cream card blanks by Papermania (you can still see their original colour on the inside) & printed onto them with paper designs in Halloween Putty from 'Spooky Doodlies'.

Very quick. Very simple. And I loved how they turned out : )

Spooky Doodlies

Well, it's seemed a little strange to be doodling for Hallowe'en this last week or so. Especially as the sun finally decided to shine on us down here in St Ives and I felt more inclined to do mermaids or something summery instead.

But, Hallowe'en it was. And this is what I did - Spooky Doodlies!

And I think I've decided that although Christmas cards are my favourite cards to make, papers for Hallowe'en are my favourite papers to design. It's been fantastic doing these : )

In fact I think I got a little carried away. Spooky Doodlies is VERY big. By far the largest Collection I've ever produced. I actually tried to reduce the size of it but it just didn't feel complete when I took something out. So I've left everything in there, just as I intended. But it does mean it won't fit onto a CD. I've had to put this one onto a DVD.

It is available to download too. There are 12 files for this one. And large file sizes too. So it might take a couple of hours for you to download everything. I've tested it out on my average sized Dell PC this morning. And with my rural-type Broadband Internet Connection it took me around 2 hours in total. Not toooo bad. But just so you know : )

I also wanted to bring back the Happy Hauntings free offer that went so disastrously skewiff last year. Do you remember? lol!

But because of the total size of all the Hallowe'en Collections together, it's only possible for me to do that with the DVD purchase.

So the Spooky Doodlies Zip-Kit Download - which is here - is Spooky Doodlies only. The Spooky Doodlies DVD - which is here - comes with Happy Haunting & Happy Haunting Girls free : )

If I can just add a little note of thanks to Andrea Gourley. The little Hallowe'en tree in this Collection was inspired by her fabulous apple tree card. I LOVE buttons at any time. They are one of my all-time favourite card making accessories. But I especially LOVED the little button apples Andrea included on her design. So a HUGE thank you to Andrea for her inspiration. The tree is one of my personal favourites in the Collection : )

Well, this week has been an interesting week for me. I started it doodling for Halloween, wandered off to playing with ideas for Christmas, had a quick look at the first design commission I've accepted (which is very exciting for me and I'll tell you about when it's completed) and finished the week with something - surprise, surprise - pink!

And this is it. A 'Think Pink' kit - a selection of papers, punchables and die-cuts for your 'Think Pink' charity cards & projects. For free : )

The colour palette I've chosen is Pretty Pink & White, with accents of Silver. And not only does it work as a stand-alone kit, it also coordinates beautifully with all your favourite papers in the same shades from the Colour Collection.

There's a gorgeous article in this month's Cardmaking & Papercraft magazine (Issue 69 September) by Dorothy Wood. It's the know how feature about ribbon weaving on pp57-59 and Dorothy has used her 'In My Garden', 'Big Hugs' and 'Little Hugs' Image Stamps on her designs.

Dorothy's cards, as always, are very gorgeous. And the technique makes very pretty cards. Definitely something to try for me.

Is It Summer Yet?

Well there hasn't been much sunshine in Cornwall recently. An odd couple of days here and there but mostly rain, rain & more rain! I don't know whose got the sun but it isn't us!

So to help make myself feel a little more summery, I'm making summery-style cards instead. And I've set the theme as a new challenge too. : )

This is the prize ... a set of 4 lovely nautical-style cotton tapes. Each one comes on it's own little cardboard roll & holds 3 metres. And I bought them here yesterday ...

L'Atelier on the harbour front at St Ives. It's one of the prettiest, tiniest little shops ever, absolutely overflowing with the most beautiful French country-style gifts & homey things. Gorgeous! And these tapes were sitting in a little basket just inside the door just waiting to be put on a card.

Simply Sketches

Looking for some inspiration for your card layouts? There's a fabulous new Sketch resource from Dawny P - Simply Sketches

Dawny first started created her sketches for the Papertake Challenge blog and I don't think I'm wrong in saying that right from the beginning of her starting to create them, her sketches became some of Papertake's most popular challenges.
