In its second annual McAfee “Mapping the Mal Web” report, the security technology firm McAfee found that 19.2% of all Web sites ending in the “.hk” domain pose a security threat1 to Web users. China (.cn) is second this year with over 11%.

Romania (.ro) and Russia (.ru) are still in the top five most dangerous domains.

The report also noted that the Philippines (.ph) experienced a 270% increase in overall riskiness, from being ranked 19 last year to No. 4 this year.

In a press release, Jeff Green, Senior Vice President of McAfee’s Product Development & Avert Labs said:

“For administrators of top-level domains this study should act as a wake-up call. Last year’s report spurred Tokelau’s domain manager to reexamine its policies.. Not all domain managers are as accommodating so our mission is to educate consumers of the dangers and protect them in every way they enjoy the Web whether through their PC, the Web itself, or mobile phone. With our new secure search and website safety certification, we’re taking the guesswork out of searching and surfing online so that consumers enjoy a safer Web experience.”

Her family of the baby has refused special medical treatment, believing she is the incarnation of a Hindu goddess. In fact, hundreds of people have flocked to the family’s dilapidated brick house to “worship” her and seek blessings.

Reports said she ate with both mouths and blinked all four eyes.

Cases of sex abuse by Roman Catholic priests have overshadowed the Pope’s visit in the US.

Read FoxNews:

WASHINGTON — Pope Benedict XVI told America’s Roman Catholic leaders Wednesday evening that the clergy sex abuse scandal has sometimes been “very badly handled,” his harshest criticism yet regarding the crisis that has badly damaged the U.S. church.

Benedict’s remarks came at a prayer service with hundreds of American bishops at a national shrine in Washington, and marked the second time the pope has addressed sex abuse on his first papal journey to the U.S.

On his flight from Rome, the pope said he was deeply ashamed of the scandal and would fight to keep pedophiles out of the priesthood.

Move over, problogger. Make way for the pro-debtblogger.

The emergence of the Brian Gorrell blog has extended the possibilities of blogging, from mere self-expression to making money online and now — debt-collection.

Brian Gorrell has inspired abandoned children, neglected mistresses, spurned lovers, estranged spouses to now consider the possibility of blogging to collect debts, whether monetary or moral.

Abandoned by your father? Then make a blog and ask for child support. Your sugardaddy stopped giving you money? Blog about your life as a mistress and shame him.

This kind of blogging now presents a new situation for bloghosting services such as Google’s Blogger (Blogspot) which at this moment is being pressured to shut down the blog (as Mr. Gorrell himself said). How do you balance the freedom of speech and expression on the Internet with the individual right to privacy, not to mention laws on libel and defamation?

Blogger (Blogspot) has hand-off policy concerning content that people put on their blogs. Quoting their terms of service:

Much of the content of Blogger.com and Blogspot.com — including the contents of specific postings — is provided by and is the responsibility of the person or people who made such postings. Google does not monitor the content of Blogger.com and Blogspot.com, and takes no responsibility for such content. Instead, Google merely provides access to such content as a service to you.

This would be Blogger’s standard reply to anybody asking to remove a certain blog post or an entire blog on Blogspot. Blogger would also tell any complainant to instead contact the person about the content he posted, which is like saying: Good luck.

Further:

By their very nature, Blogger.com and Blogspot.com may carry offensive, harmful, inaccurate or otherwise inappropriate material, or in some cases, postings that have been mislabeled or are otherwise deceptive. We expect that you will use caution and common sense and exercise proper judgment when using Blogger.com and Blogspot.com.

Google does not endorse, support, represent or guarantee the truthfulness, accuracy, or reliability of any communications posted via the Service or endorse any opinions expressed via the Service. You acknowledge that any reliance on material posted via the Service will be at your own risk.

At this stage, for Google to remove the Brian Gorrell blog on the basis of its content or Gorrell’s motivations would be a big slap on the face of freedom of speech, and will erode the public’s confidence on Blogger as a reliable venue of self-expression. It would in fact be a big slap on blogging itself.

No, Google is not pulling the plug on Brian Gorrell’s controversial blog.

In an earlier blog post, SMACK DOWN? Maybe Not!, Brian Gorrell said:

I am DEVASTATED.

I have it on Very good authority that my personal BLOG might be shut down very soon.

But in his latest video blog, Brian Gorrell says his lawyer assured him that his blog will not be closed by Google.

Google’s power

Ultimately, Brian Gorrell’s online existence depends on Almighty Google.

People find Brian Gorrell’s blog via Google search engine.

Google hosts the Brian Gorrel blog via its bloghosting service Blogger.com (Blogspot.)

Google hosts Brian Gorrell’s videos since YouTube is owned by Google.

Google also provides online revenue to Brian Gorell via the Google Adsense ads on the blog.

At this time, one can suspect that Mr. Gorrell’s enemies are waging a campaign to have his blog shut down, the YouTube videos be removed, or maybe even his Google Adsense account closed. You can imagine them writing to Google, employing friends, family and paid people to do this en masse.
