Hosting your website from your home is easy. You should start getting an additional computer (server-dedicated). This computer does not need to have some kind of Intel i7 processor, but instead you need a large hard drive if you plan to host many huge in size websites. To make web page hosting possible from your computer you need to enable IIS (Internet Information Services) in control panel. Open Control Panel, double click Programs and Features (Windows Vista). From the left menu click Turn Windows features On or Off. Type Administrator password if prompted. Choose Internet Information Services and check the box next to it. Click OK. If you have your website ready, copy it to C:\inetpub\wwwroot\. In this folder all your website data will be stored. Next go to Control Panel, double-click Administrative Tools and open IIS Manager. Click Default Sites, and put in the first place name of file you want to open when someone types your IP in the internet browser. Now you should be able to view your own website typing localhost in the addres field in your web browser. If it appears, you've done everythinh right. If it does not, you made some mistake. Now, you should turn off the firewall, so others can acces files stored on your computer. To do so, double-click Windows Firewall in Control Panel, and select Off option. At this moment, people can acces your website by typing your address IP in the browser. If you want to simplify it, I recommend using No-IP.com service, where you can choose your site name and redirect traffic to your address IP. You should follow instructions on the website. If you have done it all succesfully, you can tell others about your website, so they can view it.

Yes. And so do I want to welcome you to the new blog which mostly will be about IT (Information Technology). As you probably know, IT means not only computers, but also services such as hosting. There are many other services in the IT field, but at this time let's focus on web hosting. There are many web hosting providers at this time. Some of them are good, some of them are better. But it is really hard to find what you need. That's why our first topic on the blog will be "Hosting at home". I know it may sound to you strange because your company has probably their own servers, but for you yourself, if you'd like to make money, start some internet-based business, or you're just a computer enthusiast, this could really help to get started. Well, any computer may act as a server, Why not yours?
