This will be the raw format of Super 35mm cameras that a lot of Hollywood films (Terminator 3 below as an example) is filmed on before later being cropped for cinema. Also same aspect ratio as IMAX cameras:



Of course the Full Screen DVD release of Terminator 3 as seen attached is not the 'original raw' Super 35mm footage as it has been more cropped for that release. Of course a film wouldn't officially get the entire raw footage released which would contain accidental boom mics, camera equipment etc or way too much extra above headroom of the actors. A lot of the time when filmed on these sorts of cameras the camera person will purposely make sure to leave in extra space and room while following the 'matted' lines on the camera monitor detailing how the director wants the final edit of the frame to look. This is why when browsing about these alternate versions online you will come across the term 'open matte' as yeah they are open and outside the director's intended vision:



For me personally I feel like a lot of films are cropped way too much as I prefer the 1.78:1 or 1.85:1 aspect ratio like Jurassic Park is. Definitely better for me that way when watching at home whilst 2.35:1 etc aspect ratios are far better suited for big wide cinema screens rather than home 1.78:1 TVs which annoys me why so many modern 4K films physically are still released in the 2.35:1 format. No doubt say a film series like The Lord Of The Rings definitely would be supreme in 1.78:1 or 1.85:1 (the theatrical editions of those on DVD did get Full Screen 1.33:1 releases by the way although they aren't that watchable in my opinion due to too much of the left and right sides being cropped out during the medium and close up shots).

Yes, its Fire Maidens of Outer Space! Possibly the most sexist of the 50s sci-fi cheapies, you can't help but laugh at its ineptness. Thankfully though, we recently had a lovely blu-ray release from Vinegar Syndrome absolutely swimming in grain. This is also one of the handful of MST episodes that never got an official release, so lucky for us we've got the next best thing. 

Big thanks to Gary for his work on a previous sync, had to do a ton of manual syncing but it came out pretty good.
