I’ve been drying out the chemical residue left over from the prints and scanning them to create odd pseudo-negatives. The resulting image is a combination analog, digital and alt-process hybrid, with unpredictable solarization.

I just put some of my favorites on the site, have a look: The Portraits

The Portrait Booth Project is a live photographic homage to the intimate, quirky and often amazing portrait photography trend of the late 19th Century.

Think equal parts random street photo booth, old-timey family vacation photos and a portrait studio around 1880, and you'll start to picture where this is going. I'm shooting with a 1968 Polaroid on instant black and white film in a 7-foot-tall canvas booth. If all goes well it should be found in varying locals about Portland over the course of the summer, and I'll have paper negatives to scan and compile here in time.

To kick off the project I'll be setup, weather permitting, at the Last Thursday street fair in North East Portland on Thursday April 30th outside of Ampersand Vintage at 29th and Alberta.

Try to stop by and get your portrait shot out in the street on some wacky old-school Polaroid film and enjoy the rest of Last Thursday.

After taking a few thousand empty city wall photos, and all too many random Polaroids, I decided to step back a bit. So I've been carrying a 40-year-old rangefinder around with me for most of the last year, stealing images of my friends and surroundings instead of trying to be all art-school abstract all the time.

If I could draw, this would be my sketchbook. These photos are either the result of my trying to learn how to take portraits, my favorite snapshots of a time or place, a scene I shot one afternoon and forgot about, some late-night camera play, or just collections of random images I don't know what else to do with.

I figure it's probably time to let them out into the wild here since no one actually looks at prints anymore.

Enjoy...
