Hopefully they will all make it in one piece. </p> </div> <p></p></center> <p>I had been hoping to write a nice little reflection of the last two years here in Amman, Jordan, but now with the sounds of tape and cardboard in my ears, and nervous excitement in my heart, I'm not sure what I'll be able to get out. </p> <p>The next months I'm sure will prove to be full of excitement as we try and adjust back to life in America. In the two years we've been here in Jordan, I have not actually left the desert or Arab culture. We've traveled, but only within the region. And you'd have to go back 5 years to find the time I was last in America. </p> <p>When I was younger I would generally spend the months before our return to the States thinking about the different kinds of food I would eat. Now the world is a different place and most big cities will have a large enough international population that you can find whatever food you want. Even here in Amman. So the things I'm most excited for are as follows:</p> <ol><li>Wearing shorts outside.</li> <li>Walking around the neighborhood without mountain climbing, navigating broken/irregular/missing sidewalks, and dodging cars.</li> <li>Grass</li> <li>Bacon</li> <li>Plugging things into the wall easily and without stress.</li> </ol><p>I guess one food item still made the list. Feel free to leave your favorite recipes for cooking with bacon (or really any kind of pork) in the comments. I'm going to be eating a lot of it.</p> <p>Here are the things I'm thinking I'll miss the most about Amman. I don't know what people are wearing in your town, but here the trend is going strong and it's really fun to see bright pops of color flash by. I bought a neon pink shirt the other day, and it's quickly become my favorite. I don't want to wear anything else! It's reminds me of my sticker collection I had growing up that was filled with Lisa Frank stickers.
