Through headlines we may get to know some aspects of a foreign country. We can analyze the political system, evaluate the economy, assess their security, and still not really understand a country’s essence. Is there a tool like Google Earth to get a street view of the people’s everyday life? If we wanted to apply this to the State of Israel, how could we find a lens through which we would view a digestible slice of the complex country, yet this slice would contain an authentic taste of the whole? Perhaps we can learn from our state to the north…<o:p> </o:p></p> </article> <article> <h1>JYPI Teens Making a Difference</h1> <p>davidlewis — Tue, 17 Apr 2012 20:24:03 +0000</p> <p> <strong>JYPI Teens give over $50,000 in grants to non-profits</strong></p> <p> On Sunday April 15 at two homes – one in Virginia and another in Maryland – local teens presented $50,000 worth of grant checks to representatives of local, national and international non-profits. These presentations were the culminating sessions of the teens’ experience in the Partnership for Jewish Life and Learning’s Jewish Youth Philanthropy Initiative (JYPI). <a href="http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.354568574589418.76555.102855223094089&type=1">Check out photos here</a>.</p> <p> Each JYPI group of 10-20 teens had a grant pool made up of funds from each teen, sponsoring congregations and the Partnership. This year 70 teens in four JYPI groups awarded grants to 27 nonprofit organizations.
