Backup your Gmail Mails

GMail Backup is designed to help you backup and restore your GMail mailbox. The purpose of the application is to create backup copies of the messages in your Gmail account. This is one feature webmail services do not provide to its users, because the risk to lose the data on their servers mainly exists in theory. Getting started with the backup job requires you to provide your Gmail login credentials and pick a local folder you want the data to be stored in. One condition that needs to be met in order to get things started is IMAP access to be enabled on your account.
The short set of options Gmail Backup comes with permits you to download messages received in a specific time interval. Simply adjust the “since” and “before” dates and you are good to go. The application will only transfer the data received during that period.

My favorite web browser opera but when i got much inforamation about Flock i got some interest to try out dat this really friendly web browser we can share video,photos,files very easily and we can have coonect with our well know one's i hope you will feel interest in this try out. .

Flock 1.0 has added a “People” sidebar to support new service integration with Facebook and Twitter.
Flickr and Youtube have been promoted to “People” services.
Several performance and stability enhancements have been implemented and several memory leaks have been fixed.

Flock 1.0 has all Mozilla enhancements and security patches up to 2.0.0.8 (not 2.0.0.9 up to now, but a patch will be out soon I guess). You can read Shawn Hardin’s official announcement post here.

MySpace is launching a global redesign next week with better navigation and search capabilities in an effort to increase user engagement and broaden the social networking site's demographic.

The News Corp- owned Web site is set to roll out the first phase of the relaunch on June 18, which will be the first major redesign of the site since it launched in January 2004.

Changes include improved navigation, profile editing, search functions and a redesign of the homepage and MySpaceTV Flash player.

The MySpaceTV player will have new features that make it easier for MySpace members to embed and share videos.

The new search functions will allow MySpace members to navigate through a set of tabs to search personal profiles, music profiles, the MySpace site, and videos on MySpaceTV.

"This is more than a facelift; we're changing the way people interact with the site and with brands," MySpace said.

As part of the relaunch a major advertiser, yet to be named, will take over the U.S. homepage of MySpace on the first day of the relaunch.

The relaunch, which has been in the works for more than six months, has had input from focus groups, user surveys and other research about what consumers and advertisers want from MySpace.

MySpace had 4.7 million visitors in April, down more than 30 percent from last year, according to Nielsen Online.

Top Three Gmail Labs Features Identified

Gmail users have had the better part of two weeks to play around in the new Gmail Labs. With that sort of introductory period drawing to a close, the three most popular features are being given a bit of special recognition.

When Gmail Labs first launched, there were 13 features with which users could experiment. Since checking email is usually a routine, in-and-out process, that's sort of a lot, and so promoting the top three makes sense.

"Superstars" is the first to get mentioned in an Official Gmail Blog post. Its basic function: "[a]dds new star designs to better differentiate important email." This should help turn reading subject lines into a matter of scanning colorful pictures.

Next up is the self-explanatory "Pictures in chat." The feature's more eye candy than practicality, perhaps, but at least it goes towards catching up with what others have been doing for years.

Finally, "Quick Links," which "[b]ookmarks common Gmail views," apparently got a lot of use, too. It's not far removed from a traditional list of favorites, but its added flexibility (bookmark drafts, searches, or whatever) is interesting.

So there you have it. Don't go following any crowds off bridges, but these three Gmail features have received a fairly convincing level of approval from early adopters.

Technology is advancing rapidly with each passing day. The world of Information Technology today is a forever growing vast expanse.

Infact, the IT Certification industry has witnessed a significant turn in the past few years. In todays arena, certified professionals are considered a step higher compared to others. Certification in the relevant IT technology has become an effective way to augment your career in that domain.

Certifications, offered by various vendors are a good way for IT professionals to seek validation for their skills. In todays arena, there are lots of vendors offering specialization in particular domains. Professionals often get confused about which certification to go for as some of them have as little as hair thin difference between them. It is best to first identify your job role, the knowledge and skills required and accordingly select to take a particular certification to ensure career success.

Let us in this article try and get some clarity between two major certifications of Microsoft i.e. MCSE and MCSA which are often confused upon.

Why MCSE?

For a MCSE candidate, it is preferable that he should have at least two years of experience in implementing and administering desktop and network operating systems, and designing a network infrastructure in the typically complex computing environment of medium-to-large organizations. The candidate should also have at least one year of experience administering Exchange Server environments involving multiple physical locations, mixed connection protocols, and Internet messaging.

MCSE has two tracks Microsoft Windows 2000 and Microsoft Windows 2003. The 2003 track requires 6 Core Exams, 1 Elective Exam and 2 Upgrade Exams to be cleared.

Core Exam include:

Group I: 70-290, 70-291, 70-293;
Group II: 70-270, 70-210; Group III: 70-297, 70-298.

Elective Exams include:

70-086, 70-227, 70-228, 70-229, 70-232, 70-281, 70-282, 70-284, 70-285, 70-297, 70-298, 70-299, and 70-301.

Upgrade Exams include:

70-292 or 70-296.

Either CompTIA Security+ or Unisys UNO-101 can be substituted in place of the elective exams.

Why MCSA?

The need for qualified system administrators is very real in todays business market and the excitement for MCSA is growing daily. A candidate for MCSA should have at least one year of experience working with a desktop operating system, a network operating system, and an existing network infrastructure. As soon as candidates pass their first qualifying exam for the MCSA program, they achieve a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) certification.

MCSA also has two tracks Microsoft Windows 2000 track and Microsoft Windows 2003 track. MCSA 2003 requires 3 Core Exams, 1 Elective exam and 1 Upgrade exam to be cleared.

MCSA when compared to MCSE is a basic level certification. However, you will not be responsible to set up new networks and systems as a part of your job function. But as a MCSE knowledge about designing and deploying new networks and systems is necessary.

Being an MCSA professional means that you will be able to implement, manage, and maintain the typically complex computing environment of medium-to large-sized companies. On the other hand, being an MCSE professional you will be able to plan, design, and implement Microsoft Windows server solutions and architectures in medium-to large-sized companies.

The experience that is required for both these certifications is also different. MCSA requires 6-12 months of experience of administering client and network operating systems while MCSE requires at least one year of experience in implementing and administering network operating systems and desktop operating systems.

Jobs for an MCSA include systems administrator, network administrator, information systems administrator, network operations analyst, network technician, or technical support specialist. For an MCSE jobs include systems engineer, network engineer, systems analyst, network analyst, or technical consultant.

MCSA provides you with a credential that represents a set of skills which will be advantageous if you plan to pursue MCSE Certification. Therefore, earning an MCSA will qualify you with the option to use these credentials and acquire MCSE through Upgrade path to MCSE.

If you look carefully, both these exams although similar to each other specialize in different domains. A clear understanding of both the certifications is necessary before you decide which one to opt for. So make the right choice and get going!!

Switch Sound File Conversion SoftwareSwitch is a free audio coversion tool. It supports conversion of many format into one another, but what we need to know is that it CAN convert .rm to mp3. There is a Plus version that you can upgrade to for $US19.40 which will unlock some advanced features. You can read more about it at their website. For the purpose of this tutorial the free version is perfect and there is no need for an upgrade.NOTE: The free version will have all the advanced features for 14 days from the day you install the software. After that trial period, the advanced features will be deactivated and every once in a while you will be asked to upgrade. Don't worry about that, just click 'NO' or 'Cancel' everytime you are asked to upgrade and you will be fine.

How to use Switch:
You can use Switch to convert files one at a time, or convert multiple files at once. Here are the steps to convert one/multiple files:

First add files to the queue by clicking either the 'Add File(s)' or 'Add Folder' button (see image below). They both serve the same purpose, with the difference that the first allows you to choose the files you want and the second enables you to add all the contents of a folder to the queue.
Now that you have added your files, you need to choose the Output Folder, the folder where Switch will save the converted files. Click the button labelled as ' ... ' (see image below) and choose your desired folder.
Choose .mp3 (or any format you prefer) as the Output Format from the dropdown menu as shown in the image below.
Finally, click the 'Convert' button at the top right corner to get the job done.

When you click Convert, a little window (like the one below) will pop up, which shows you what is being done. You can cancel the process by clicking the 'Cancel' button (Dah!). The window will disappear once files are converted.There are many other commercial softwares that can do this task, but some may not be comfortable with the price tag they come with.I hope you find this tutorial (my first one ever) useful. If I am being ambiguous with my explanation here, feel free to comment or ask questions below. Now that the issue of file format is hopefully resolved, let's get back to downloading some cool music.

Send email attachments up to 5GB with AOL's Xdrive

While most web-based email services have file attachment size limits, there are plenty of ways around those limitations. MailBigFile, YouSendIt, Driveway, and other services all let you "park" large files temporarily online and send an email to your friend or colleague letting them know the file is available for download. But sometimes you want to send a message directly from your email client and still attach a large file.

This blog's parent company AOL is launching a new service that attempts to let you do just that. And we want to like it, we really do. But right now it just doesn't work as well as we'd hope yet.

Here's how it works. AOL has a whole slew of web services, including a web-based email client and a web-based storage service called Xdrive, which gives you 5GB of online storage for free. So combining the two was kind of a no brainer. All you have to do is sign up for XDrive and then click the "attach file" button when composing an email message, and check the "Upload to my Xdrive" to send large attachments via Xdrive. Any file that's larger than 16MB will automatically be sent via XDrive.

For some media types, this works great. Your recipient gets an email with clickable links that let them view pictures or watch/listen to multimedia files online. But for other file types, things are a bit trickier. While the recipient will see a link with the name of the file you uploaded, when they click the download button they will get a file with an arbitrary string of characters for a file name. That wouldn't be so bad if Xdrive didn't also strip the file type from the name. That means if you send a Word document, for example, the recipient will have to add ".doc" to the end of the file before their computer will know which program to use to open the file.

We're glad to see AOL taking steps to allow users to send large messages via email. The concept is brilliant because it lets you get around file size limits whether you're the sender or receiver. But the execution still needs some work.

Xoopit adds pretty picture previews to Gmail

Xoopit is a new Firefox plugin that adds dynamic image previews to Gmail. It scans your email messages or images, videos, and links to media sites like YouTube, Flickr, Shutterfly and Picasaweb. The results are displayed above your Gmail window as a series of thumbnails.

The basic concept is that your email inbox is a more useful social networking tool than Facebook, MySpace, or other services, but web-based email clients generally don't present the same kind of tools for sorting through your rich media content that you can find on the other sites.

The Xoopit plugin is currently available for Firefox 1.5 and newer, and works with Gmail only. In the future, Xoopit plans to add support for Yahoo! Mail, Hotmail, AOL Mail and other services. Xoopit is in private beta, but you can add your name to the waiting list for invitations.

Time Machiner: Send emails to a future date

New web service Time Machiner enables you to send emails to any recipient on any future date.

You can use the service to remind yourself of upcoming events or appointments, or you can set up happy birthday emails to friends, family members, and co-workers, in one glorious chunk of time.

And, if you time it right, you can even send emails from beyond the grave. Cue Vincent Price's ghoulish laughter.

While we think this service has its uses, some more beneficial than others, it seems to be more of a novelty at this point. Some basic features are missing: e.g., you can't email a group of people, formatting of any kind (except for line breaks) is disallowed, you can't add attachments, etc...

Besides, for events such as birthdays, wouldn't it be easier to set reminders in a calendar application? If you're averse to calendar apps, they even have calendars that are made out of real paper and hang on walls.

The most beneficial use of Time Machiner is the ability to send present advice to your future self. Maybe you've had an epiphany, and would like to make sure you don't forget it. That's where Time Machiner can really shine.

Over the years, odds are you've accumulated more contacts than you know what to do with. What's more, those contacts are spread out across an array of applications and services. There's your Gmail, AOL, Yahoo!, and Hotmail contacts. There's the contacts stored in Outlook on your desktop. And then there are your social networking contacts on sites like Orkut and LinkedIn. Keepm lets you import all of your contacts from each of those locations and store them online in one place.

When you need to find an email address or phone number, you can then just login to Keepm and find it, no matter where you had initially stored it. You can also share individual contacts with others by sending an email from the site. And of course, you can export your contacts as V-Cards or CSV files.

While we'd be much happier with Keepm if it were actually integrated with an application that lets you use your contacts like Gmail or Outlook. Give us a tool that lets us combine all of our contacts and make phone calls or send email from that application and you will make us very happy.

Note that Keepm also needs your Gmail, Yahoo! or other email passwords to import your contacts. The site says it won't save your login information, but you do have have to trust the site before using it. But that should go without saying for any web-based contact manager.
