Mission

We want to remember the reason we all started Paintball in the first place. It means the same now as it did back then... TO HAVE FUN !!!!

Description

Back in 2005 some of the players from Pro Team Nexus hung up their boots for the last time in the professional Paintball arena locker room. But they still had the bug to play Paintball and the urge to drink with what had become good friends. But where do you play when you have just stopped playing Pro? Well the answer is anywhere you want !!!

Operation Sandbaggers or Sandbaggers for short is more about the getting together and having fun than actually winning anything. We invite old and new friends to play on the squad be it at a Millennium Series or down the woods for some good old scenario paintball. There isn't any weird way to get into the Sandbaggers you simply have to be asked. You have to be able to drink, party and hopefully be able to at least pick up your shooter the day after.

The more people that we get to "LIKE" the Sandbagger page the more effort we will put into it...

We are not you usualy Paintball team and we hope the Facebook Page won't be your usualy Facebook page either... Come visit us, "LIKE' us and get involved.

Lyon.... Win In Mexico !!!

On May 4^th and 5^th, the RTWC tournament came to Leon, Mexico, hosting 18 teams from the open division and 21 teams of the rookie division.

The elimination round was played on Saturday giving each open division team 8 games and 7 for the rookie division, after the first day only one team was undefeated in the whole tournament.

Planet Eclipse sponsored team, Lyon, finish with 6 wins and 2 loses in the open division and the rookies finished with 5 wins and 2 loses. The top 3 teams of each bracket go to the next round, giving the opportunity to play the semi finals to 6 teams: Riot (undefeated), Jackal, White Tigers (Planet Eclipse Sponsored Team), Jack In The Box, Lyon and Sykaryos.

In the rookie division the teams that went to the semi finals were Sykarios, Lyon division JR, X7, Mad Dog, Acid Reaction and Sykarios Wannabe. The teams played a best out 3 and each winners moved onto the next round.

The match ups went this way: Lyon division vs Riot, White tigers vs Sykarios and Jackal vs Jack in the box. Team Lyon, White Tigers and Jackal all won so they moved on.

To see what two teams would go to the finals they all played each other and the 2 teams with the best record would move to the finals. Lyon won both games and Jackal beat White Tigers moving Lyon and Jackal to play for first and second.

Team Lyon came out hungry in the finals and won the match in just over a minute with all 5 players alive. In the rookie finals, Lyon Jr took home the first place finish too :-)

Dutch Scenario - Report and Video (Leg #1)

The first leg of the Dutch Scenario Competition (NSC)2013 was held on April 21 at the D-19 paintball field in Gasselte. This season a total of 8 teams are competing for the title “best scenario team 2013”. Each team has to play 3 out of 5 events to be able to claim a place in the season finale. Because of the 30 minutes game time and the amount of daylight in a day, only 5 teams can play on one event. This first leg there were 4 new teams and one veteran team competing for the first place. The marshalling was done by the players of team FUBAR and the Black Bandits who enjoined watching the other teams playing.

Leg results details

The first game was between the Unit and the Astros both new the NSC and new to the D-19 field. The game ended in a win for the Astros with 77 points against 32 points for the Unit.

The second game was between veteran team the Praetorians and the new team P.A.C. The Praetorians showed P.A.C. why they were third place season winners in 2012 and won the game with 75 points for the Praetorians and 28 points for P.A.C.

Because of a flat tire the Madball Legionaires were late on the field and could not do a proper field walk but they had to play the third game of the day so they could get their gear ready in time. This game it was between the Madball Legionaires and the Unit. The Unit had played the first game of the day so they had some experience on the field. The Madball Legionaires got their stuff together and won with 59 points versus 36 for the Unit.

The day rolled on giving the guys of RSH Media opportunities enough to shoot good pictures of all the actions preformed by the teams. Also on the field was Jim from Paintball Nederland & Belgie with his video camera. He made a very nice film on the NSC with some good action scenes in it.

The last game of the day was between the Astros and Madball Legionaires and the outcome of this game would impact first, second and third place so this game was hard against hard. Madball Legionaires went in guns blazing and showed the Astros they meant busyness. The Astros weren’t going to just give the game away and gave it their best but being without means of communicating was a big disadvantage in this big field and Madball Legionaires showed they deserved the first place.

The final score for this first leg was:

1^st place: Madball Legionaires

2^nd place: Praetorians

3^rd place: Astros

4^th place: PAC

5^th place: Paintballersunit

The Scenario Special of the day was "Dragon Lady"

Next leg will be at het Eendracht Paintball field, the competing teams this second leg will be: the Praetorians, FUBAR, The Unit, Bad Company and the Astros. We are looking forward in this next event.

The Long Road to Rewrite History .....

In the latest incarnation of Ben & Bonnie Torricelli’s evil minds, we find ourselves transported back in time to a small island on only 8 square miles between the Mariana Islands and Japan – IWO JIMA. Points are collected in various forms: completing missions, collecting props, winning speedball games, and of course, for holding locations during the beach landing. During this game, in addition to some of the University of Tennessee’s paintball squad, we have members of Southern Polytechnic State University helping keep everything safe and the game flowing smoothly as referees.

As is customary for our team, a “planning session” at a local favorite eatery called Castaways in downtown Fayetteville helped to finalize our feelings for the game. When returning to the lush forests of the Howell community, our hopes of cobbler were dashed by an old adversary – MOTHER NATURE. She reared her ugly head and rained, but even with the deluge we knew we would be in the company of friends and our “extended paintball family”.

During this event, our fearless leader playing the part of commanding general defending the island of Iwo Jima, is our very own Mark “Green Hat” Kimmel. As with the night before, rain was off and on, but it could not stop our spirit. Mark wisely deploys our team across the beachhead to defend against the Marine’s beach landing named “Operation Detachment”. The Marines had two hours to break through 3 lines of defense, along the way moving their base of operations from the landing craft, to “Red 1”, and finally to “Tobishi”. Our ranks held off the invasion for the first hour of the game, until the Marines were able to get a foot hold. Our tanks made sure they were slow moving throughout the rest of the beach landing time.

Multiple times throughout the day our team worked well with ourselves and also with other teams in multiple roles. Some of our new HDE Camo Jerseys got used during these raids into enemy territory and helped to conceal our position until we started firing. One particular daunting mission was to rescue a downed pilot at “Hiwa”. Even after making our way past the Marine’s base and securing the location, our team captain had to look for a lost mission card to receive points. A lot of our team got to participate in the speedball missions and the weather helped to make everyone more on even footing.

At dinner break, both generals concede to have no night game, so all teams mingle and get caught up on good times (and get a little dry). The Howell Community Center provided all with some awesome southern food during the break – the Ribeye sandwich is to die for, although we all love the ribs too.

Day two started out much the same as day one – with a rain storm. Luckily most of the heavy stuff was past us after an hour delay in play (that extended our playing time). We switched bases to give everyone a chance to see the whole field. The missions were hot and heavy with us being in the lead by 400 points. Our “BK Bigshot” (Etha with EMC Rail Mounting Kit and Havoc Launcher) took out the opposing tanks almost every time they showed up. Mud and rain didn’t stop our equipment all weekend – even without covering. This proves as a testament to the reliability and design of our Planet Eclipse gear.

For the final battle each team needed to control four points on the map to get points – Okita, Surabachi, Futa, and Hill 199. We quickly made our way to Okita, as it is the furthest point from our base. Throughout the onslaught, we kept our composure and dug in like ticks. As the game was called, we controlled two of the four points, with one being contested between both teams (with a quick final seconds move by the opposition). After gathering after battle, we got to hear that we did pull out the victory for the Japanese.

Our next event will be in Chicago for Living Legends 6. Stop by and say hi and feel free to try out some of our equipment or have us look at your kit if you are having any problems. After that, we will be at Bearclaw Paintball for the UWL event on August 24^th-25^th. Teams from across the region will be battling old school tournament style in the woods. Any marker / hopper combo can be used as long as it can be capped at 10 balls per second. You are also allowed one sniper (that must run pump/pistol) and one heavy gunner (that has no bps cap). HustlePaintball.com’s factory team, Anomaly, took first place in the second event at Blitz Paintball’s Tournament Series in the Open Class division. There were 14 teams in the division, all seasoned veterans of the division, while Anomaly was a newcomer to Open Class, playing in Novice 2011 and 2012. Not only did we have zero issues with our guns (surprised? We weren’t), but we rescued a friend’s game when his gun went down the previous point, and he borrowed Erik Cromer’s GEO3 to make a clutch comeback in the final point. The always-reliable Egos and GEOs are all that Anomaly uses when we’re playing tournaments because showing up to the gate with 100% top-notch, working gear is half the battle! Why make it harder on yourself and use an inferior gun? To make traveling to events easier, Team Anomaly never leaves home without their Planet Eclipse Classic or Compact Gearbags!Team Anomaly would like to thank Hustle Paintball and Planet Eclipse for providing us with great support and top notch equipment to use. FIFTH ANNUAL CHALLENGE FOR CHILDREN’S EVENT

MN Pro Paintball raises money for Children’s Hospitals of Minnesota

Minneapolis, MN – MN Pro Paintball hosts the 5^th annual Challenge for Children’s Big Game on Sunday, May 19^th2013. Challenge for Children’s is one of the most unique charity events in Minnesota with over 700 people playing in a scenario-based paintball game in which all profits benefit Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota. This year’s event will feature two Navy Seals as game commanders, a live band during lunch, and a vendor area for local businesses.

So far the event has raised over $100,000 for the cardiac unit at Children’s. Briana Oakes, Senior Benefit Associate says, “Challenge for Children’s continues to be one of the largest privately run fundraising events for Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota. At Children’s we rely on the community to deliver the highest quality of care possible to our patients so groups like MN Pro Paintball are key to making that happen!” The goal is to raise $35,000 during this year’s event.

Matt Ames, the president and CEO of MN Pro Paintball started the Challenge for Children’s event in 2009 after being a patient at the hospital since he was born. He says, “I started the event as a way to give back to the hospital that has done so much for me and my family, but also as a way to involve the community and have fun. Paintball is a great sport because anyone can play regardless of experience or skill level.” Challenge for Children’s is suitable for all levels of players from first-timers to experienced veterans. Every year patients from Children’s are also invited to participate in the event.

The 5^th annual Challenge for Children’s takes place at MN Pro Paintball’s 200 acre park in Lakeville, MN on Sunday, May 19^th 2013 from 9 am – 5 pm. Pre-registration is open until Tuesday, May 14^th for $30 online and at all of MN Pro Paintball’s locations. Registration includes admission to the game and unlimited air fills. Over the last 3 years the UK has managed to get together a National team to compete at the Millennium series EPBF events in the Ladies, U19’s and Men’s Championship events… The UK has also had some amazing results with the Men’s team winning the event in 2011 and runners up in 2012. The U19's came 4th in 2011, 1st in 2012 and 2nd in 2013....

As always there are major issues to overcome with any team like this, the main one is cost. We all know how hard life is at the moment and to ask the players of our Nations team to pay for Entrance Fee’s, Paint, Flights, Accommodation, etc etc can add up to a pretty penny. Some, if not most of these players, already have commitments with their current teams and adding another event + training sessions is just too much. What we are trying to do is to help with this burden and to raise some money to help fund the UK National teams.

Some people I’m sure will say all sort of things, like “I’d give my right arm to play for the UK team”…or “why should I help the National teams” and they are right but the fact still remains that if the United Kingdom want to put together the best team we can to compete for our Nation then we all need to help.

Dye have already stepped up to the plate with Paint which is amazing and really does help a lot but we need more help, not just for here and now, for the future so we can hopefully try and build on the success we have already achieved.

The beauty of the Nations teams is ANYONE can get on the squad, all the teams are picked after open trials so this isn’t so much you helping out other players this could be you helping out yourself, your team mate and your Nations hopes at winning the titles........Again!

Planet Eclipse has produced a One off Union Jack LV1 that they have donated to the Nations Team to raise funds. The marker is in production right now and the winner will be drawn over the weekend of the UK Millennium event on 5^th – 7^th July (You do not need to be present to win, ticket number will be posted on-line) Tickets are £1 each with every penny going towards the UK Nation team account.

Please dig as deep as you can get so we can start to put things in place for the future.

The Nations team players can use whatever equipment they want, when they pull on the Team UK jersey (that also need paying for) they all play under the same flag as our Nations team. We want to thanks Planet Eclipse for donating this amazing One Off Union Jack LV1…

Viper Texas Revolution !

Viper's annual Texas Revolution has been running for 17 years now and has attracted players from all over the world to Texas for this legendary event. This year's futuristic theme was "Tech Wars" and had players from all over the USA as well as China and Norway.

Inspired by the Mech Wars and BattleTech tabletop and video games this event made history as the first paintball event to actually integrate a video game into the paintball scenario. Eight immersive gaming pods were provided by MechCorps (www.mechcorps.com) and the commanders would pit four person teams against each other as they piloted forty-foot-tall armored robots and fought for the resources of different planets. These battles yielded extra supplies for the winner which, in turn, were presented to the commanders for use in completing missions on the field.

Of course there was an awesome prize package at the end awarded to players by random drawing. One lucky player won a brand new Etha marker from our good friends at Planet Eclipse! Please visit www.planeteclipse.com for more Eclipse news and product information!

Tiger Ambush is a fresh 5-man team out of Rocky Mount, VA. Assembled for the 2013 CFOA season, Ambush opened the year at the Carolina Classic held at PBC in Rock Hill, SC. Gelling as a squad as the day progressed, they poured it on in the playoffs to snatch a 3^rd place finish. They experienced flawless performance from their Geo 3’s, and enjoyed exceptional padding and flexibility from their distortion pant and jerseys. Josh Trelease, Captain and Owner of Tiger Paintball (www.TigerPB.com), said “We are so happy to be working with Planet Eclipse, their products have been amazing, and the support has been remarkable.
