• Video files you’ve purchased from the PlayStation Store can be backed up to an external storage device and then restored to PS3’s internal hard drive for playback – so you can clear up space on your hard drive and then restore the video anytime in the future
• Videos you’ve purchased for PSP (PlayStation Portable) system can now be transferred to PS3 for playback

Höhepunkt der alljährlich stattfindenden Game Developers Conference sind die Game Developers Choice Awards. Die Preise werden von Entwicklern an Entwickler verliehen. Dabei werden neben Spielen auch Einzelpersonen für besondere Leistungen ausgezeichnet. In diesem Jahr war LittleBigPlanet der große Gewinner in San Francisco. Das Spielehighlight von Sony Computer Entertainment mit dem sympathischen Protagonisten Sackboy sackte gleich 4 der 10 Preise ein und stellte die Konkurrenz damit in den Schatten. Einmal mehr konnte der spartanische Kämpfer Kratos die Jury überzeugen. Der preisgekrönte PSP-Titel God of War: Chains of Olympus wurde in der Kategorie Best Handheld Game zum Sieger gekürt.

Seine getötete Familie auf eigene Faust rächen und gleichzeitig selbst verdächtigt werden, die Tat begangen zu haben. So ist New York City ein ganz schön hartes Pflaster - zumindest für Detective Max Payne. Um sich die Suche nach dem Mörder nicht unnötig zu erschweren, ließ er sich prompt in die Abteilung für ungeklärte Fälle versetzen. Alles andere als simpel und zugleich nicht ganz ungefährlich gestaltet sich die Aufgabe, die sich der traumatisierte Rächer auferlegt hat. Er verirrt sich in ein Netz aus Korruption, Verschwörungen und einer äußerst gefährlichen Droge, die als “Valkyr” bekannt ist. Anfangs nur für Militärszwecke gedacht, um Soldaten mit übermenschlichen Eigenschaften in den Krieg zu schicken, fällt die Droge in die Hände von Max Payne und birgt dabei noch andere unangenehme Nebenwirkungen.

Mark Wahlberg, der u.a. für den gnadenlosen Action-Film “Shooter” bekannt ist, schlüpft in die Rolle von Max Payne. Der Film basiert auf einem der intensivsten Videospiele aller Zeiten. Das gleichnamige Videospiel erschien 2001 in einer perfekten Mixtur aus brutaler Action und tiefer Story und konnte deshalb einen Großteil der Spielerschaft überzeugen. Knappe 7 Jahre hat es nun gedauert, bis es der Racheakt auch auf die Leinwand geschafft hat.

Die einzelnen Karten können übrigens online gehandelt werden. Hat man eine Sammelkarte erworben, kommt der Spieler entweder in die Mannschaft oder die Kollektion. In der Kollektion gilt es, komplette Mannschaften zu sammeln. Für jede Karte in der Kollektion erhält man virtuelles Geld, für komplette Mannschaften gibt es einen Bonus. Das Geld kann wiederum in neue Sammelkarten investiert werden.

Leider sind die neuen Download-Inhalte aber nicht umsonst zu haben, sondern kosten immerhin zehn Euro. Im Playstation Store kann man derzeit eine 5-Spiele-Trial Version von Ultimate Team erwerben.
