The Taco Experiment

I spent the afternoon eating tacos of all varieties at the Brooklyn Taco Experiment. These guys, Serious Business, took the People's Choice award. I'm not sure what their tacos tasted like, but they certainly had the best costumes and a great serving presentation.

Props to my friends Dave and JuAnne for putting together the well-received Banh Mi Tacos.

According to the masterminds of the event, the next experiment will involve eggs. I must say, the thought of tasting dozens of egg-based items is hardly appealing.

The flea is now located at the former Williamsburg Savings Bank Tower, and it's hard to not be impressed by the grandeur of the hall upon first entering it.

The landmark building, like so many others in downtown Brooklyn, has been converted into a shell for fancy condos.

With lyrics like "who gives a fuck about an Oxford comma," it's my go-to album for upbeat tempos and melodies.

I caught their show tonight at Bowery Ballroom, my favorite place to see bands in NYC. The sound was impeccable but the crowd subdued for most of the night. However, by the time Walcott was played to close out the night, the crowd had finally woken up and pseudo-moshing ensued.

Let us spend one day as deliberately as Nature, and not be thrown off the track by every nutshell and mosquito's wing that falls on the rails. Let us rise early and fast, or break fast, gently and without perturbation; let company come and let company go, let the bells ring and the children cry - determined to make a day of it. Why should we knock under and go with the stream?
