I don’t even know where to start with, in my book, dream house! Flat roofline, geometric lines, dark colored brick, wood siding, a nod to mid century, oh and the pool. When I look at these images I can only think of how much harder it is to “DO” modern. You can’t hide mistakes with extra embellishments that only ad visual confusion. The exteriors and interiors echo so well with each other. Welch Architecture has a stunning body of work that you need to go check out.

The Shadow House by Liddicoat & Goldhill

The Shadow House by Liddicoat & Goldhill is an amazing little house that was “a true self-build, integrating planning, design, finance and construction into one fluid process.“. I love the the color pallet including the nice book matched piece of marble on the exterior. The black exterior brick is quite breath taking to me, I really like brick and I love a black exterior, so I get the best of both worlds here.

The Shadow House replaces a former electricity substation at the end of a Victorian terrace in the Camden Square Conservation Area, just north of the Kings Cross redevelopment. With strict planning restrictions on height and a site area of less than 75sqm, the design is a brutally efficient solution.

Jeffrey Thrasher has an amazing talent that ranges from ultra modern to a warm modern cabin in the woods. As a collector of art and furniture Jeffrey enjoys working with like minded clients and it shows throughout his portfolio. New York pied-à-terre is my favorite project as it contains many elements of a mid century modern space that I love so much.

The “Hai” chair by Luca Nichetto for one Nordic Furniture Company, is quite nice. A little Paul McCobb with a sprinkle of Eero Saarinen maybe? I really like the design and would love to see a pair of them in a rust orange material so the frames had a nice contrast with the body of the chair. The positioning looks to be a comfortable lounging position.

‘Hai’ lounge chair is the result of the combination of functional requirements and complementary stylistic values. Here the request to create an object of great quality and strong personality has met the functional requirements related to packaging derived from the world of online sales.

Contemporary art meets mid century modern

The mix of contemporary art and mid century modern pieces in this apartment is beautifully balanced striking a harmonious balance. This has to be my favorite style, sometimes the two styles can look cohesive and sometimes the juxtaposition can be equally stunning. The Gio Ponti headboard in pic 2 is one of my favorite pieces in the whole place. These are only a few of the images, make sure to check out the rest of the place.

Marin County Residence by Dirk Denison Architects

The crisp clean lines and color of the Marin County Residence by Dirk Denison Architects is almost a feeling of “purity”. One element of the project that I really like is all of the modern landscaping both on the interior and exterior. The choice locations with large glass windows, always give a view to an amazing tree or modern landscape design. I would love to look out my window and see one of those Japanese Maples looking back at me.

Oscar Properties develops, buys and sells real estate in central Stockholm. They focus on a modern aesthetic creating a brand that everyone wants. I love these images but I can’t tell if they are renderings or the real deal. Some of these spaces are a nice integration of small touches of others styles.

Salvatori presents DRITTO by Piero Lissoni

I am really liking the DRITTO by Piero Lissoni, especially the larger dining table. The thin geometric iron base matched with an elegant slice of Carrara Marble or Pietra D’Avola give this piece a floating feeling. Depending on where you stand, one might see a “geometric line drawing” and from another view, see an intricate surface.

Australia House by Andrew Burns Architect

The vanishing point of the Australia House by Andrew Burns Architects creates an extreme roof line that seems to be pointing to something in the sky. The black exterior is a monochromatic spectacle that I personally love. Maybe a little to much wood flavor going on with the interiors but beautiful none the less.

Australia House is a gallery, studio and atelier in the ’snow country’ of Niigata Prefecture, approximately three hours north of Tokyo. The building replaces a previous structure which collapsed in a powerful aftershock on March 12, 2011. The Australian Embassy Tokyo, Tokamachi City Government and the Echigo-Tsumari Triennale resolved quickly to construct a new building and it stands as a symbol of healing and transformation in this beautiful area of Japan.

“During winter, the site can experience 1.5m of snow during one day, and this was a key consideration in the design, with the roof pitching steeply. The building alternates between a familiar domestic presence and that of an art object. The interiors form a large ‘perception device’, heightening views of the surrounding landscape and creating opportunities for art installation.”

NaMu by Peter Yong Ra is a beautifully crafted chair that looks to be the next generation of heirloom quality furniture. Will our children be furiously trying to find these chairs after several decades? I really like the leg supports, different and elegant.

NaMu was designed to embody family valuables and the sensibilities rewarded from them. On a daily basis everyday objects are inherited and passed down from one generation to another to become family heirlooms.
