Modern goodies on eBay

It seemed as though eBay was a little light on good stuff this week. I really love the round lounge chair and ottoman, it did end Sunday but I had to use it, I haven’t seem much in this shape. I also really like Ian Francis’s work, I need to pick up one of his prints some day. I know I have used this coffee table before but for some reason I am really drawn to it. Thrifting with George

One of my new years resolutions was to do a little more thrifting. I found a little old house turned antique shop, knowing full well it was not my flavor I took my chances. As I rounded a corner there he was George Washington with his little smirk. I thought it was a pretty cool picture but then moved on right out the front door. The next two days I couldn’t get this thing out of my mind. I went back hoping it was too expensive and I could just be done. George came home with me that day for $25. I quickly broke out the acrylic paints and went to town. I wanted to mess with the print itself but did a little hunting and found that it is from the 60’s and are pretty hard to find in this large size. I am sure it’s not worth much but I decided to leave it as is. Make the jump to see what happened to George.

Amazing modern homes - Joeb Moore + Partners

When I flip through an architects portfolio there are usually a few houses that stand out and a few that are just average which makes for a pretty good mix. In the case of Joeb Moore + Partners there is no average, their portfolio is stacked with projects that wow with every image fade. As I sat on their home page watching the slide show I was waiting for an image that I could mentally label average, to no avail. Fourteen images after the jump.

Plywood + Concrete = Modern Bliss

Andreas Fuhrimann and Gabrielle Hächler have created this masterpiece of concrete and plywood, aka Chalet Lanel. I really love how minimal it is, a person would definitely feel all warm and cozy with all that beautiful wood grain. Modern kitchens on the brain

In a month or so we are going to sell our home. The plan was to put an addition on, but cost wise it just doesn’t make sense right now. There is a reality that way may have to get a tract home, no big deal. We have been looking at kitchens and what we could do to make a “tract kitchen” modern. More after the jump.

Nela King - Friends of Friends

The flavor of Photographer Nela King’s home is exactly what I would call modern eclectic, but then again who am I. I really like the open feel of the main room and kitchen. No to sure about the picture of Marilyn Manson but that rosewood credenza has me at drool. Photos by Ailine Liefeld. The translation is a little rough. More after the jump.

Whether Marilyn Manson, Gwen Stefani, Heike Makatsch, or 50 cent - she had them all in front of the lens, thereby demonstrating not only her skills but also their international fame. Nela King was born in Berlin-Dahlem, but spent most of her childhood and adolescence abroad. Among the international stages of her early life include Tokyo, Singapore and Sydney. She began her career in front of and behind the camera and is now also the basis of personal and professional life. As the beautiful photographer, mother and wife will prevail and what is the secret of her unique images, she tells us in an interview.
