Which brings us today to a technique that promises to take the expression "Eggbert, you are such a doll!" to a whole new level!

Technique #04:

"The Eggyoshka Doll" suit!

Here, nested in the warmth and safety of mother Russia favorite tourist souvenir, Eggbert will have the time and tranquility necessary to finally finish reading Tolstoy 'War and Peace'.

...which would certainly make one of his grandparent, the Fabergé descendant, Boris Yggyvert very proud!

....I stumbled upon this little lady here keeping an eye on the rest of the family...

I am not a veggie bird connoisseur, so I wasn't sure to which species she belonged... maybe she's a Potato Sparrow? Or a Tuber Finch? My brother even said it might be a Root Wren?

I am not really sure. But what I am sure is that I'll keep an eye on them when mama is not arround... just to make sure they be alright.

Ok, so some people have already heard of Eggbert Eggventures ...

...and with time, we have seen a lot of his friends, learned about some of his love affairs and even meet his father.

However, this time we are digging even deeper in Eggberts eggneological tree in order for you to meet his great-great-great-(multiples times more great!)-grandfather...

The chivalrous and brave Sir Eggnatius Benedict, the Duke of Yolk.

Sir Eggnatius Benedict is one of the more mysterious figures in the annals of food literature. Very little is known about his life, but it is generally accepted that Eggnatius was the most prominent knight and talented poet of Yolk...

He was also really well known for his courage and wisdom. Since back in those days, Eggnatius didn't had the luxury of only escaping fridges, he had to actually fight with the hens and all kind of forest animals for his own survival!

Red Pepperpion

Red Pepperpions are secretive, nocturnal arachilli which can be spotted in kitchens of arid climates all around the world.

Red Pepperpions are equipped with a delicious (and depending on the quantity...deadly!) stinger at the end of its tail. If you happen to get bitten (or if you bite him!) it will produce a burning sensation on your taste nerves.

However, there is no need to worry, since the fact is that his potent stinger is usually only used when hunting or whenever the Pepperpion feels like he might become part of someones meal...

At daylight or when encountering a larger foe, such as a Saucier Chef, they retreat into burrows inside the fridge or hide beneath the oven.

The (Eggplant) Scream

The Scream is the title of Expressionist paintings and prints in a series by Norwegian artist Edvard Munch.

Munch's The Scream is an icon of modern art, a Mona Lisa for our time. As Leonardo da Vinci evoked a Renaissance ideal of serenity and self-control, Munch defined how we see our own age - wracked with anxiety, uncertainty and eggplant recipes...

He actually created several versions of The Scream in various media. The Munch Museum holds one of two painted versions and one pastel. The National Gallery of Norway holds the other painted version. A fourth version, in pastel, is owned by Norwegian businessman Petter Olsen.

But unknown to most people is that there is also a fifth version, in eggplant, that is owned by Brazilian eggplant enthusiast Vanessa Dualib. (Hi!)

You see, as an egg, Eggbert doesn't believe that a stress-free life is possible. Stress is a response to all the challenges in his life, and a life without challenges is too boring for him to contemplate.

However, knowing how to relax is definitely a key component to enjoying his unique life!

So when life seems too stressful to handle; just light some candles, have a drink and enjoy a long and relaxing cupcake batter bath!

It's great for your shell.

Back in the Summer of '79...

This past weekend while I was walking around my grandmother veggie garden I noticed what at first it seemed to be an old piece of paper half buried close to one of the fences.

Upset at the idea of finding a piece of trash thrown away a long time ago by some ill-mannered passerby, I leaned down to pick it up, and suddenly I realized that what I had in my hands wasn't just an ordinary piece of paper. Indeed it was actually a very special piece of paper...

Apparently I had just stumbled on an old photo booth pic... one that showcased 4 eggplants and what it seemed like a strong friendship documented in the summer of '79.

Four eggplants? A strong friendship? In the summer of '79?? Wait! That is not possible I thought!

But then I remembered what any gardening guide will tell you - that "Eggplants are among the easiest veggies to grow. And that being quite the tender vegetables who are cold sensitive in nature all they actually need to reach a successful maturity was a long warm season."

So this is what this is all about? I see...

Like us, apparently all that these purple little guys need to make sure they had a great life was a long warm season, filled with friends, fun and at least one summer that were worth remembering.

Surely, I could relate.

So I smiled at their pic. Folded it back and carefully placed in my pocket. Vowing to honor their memory and their friendship by telling their story. Letting people know that, back in the summer of 1979, these guys were together. And they were having a blast!

Back home, some of my folks told me 'But this is nonsense! Friendship among eggplants? You surely have gone too far this time!".

...to which, in an attempt to sound a lot more wise than I actually am, I replied using the words of a certain Henry Thoreau, who once wrote that "Friendship is never established as an understood relation. It is a miracle which requires constant proofs. It is an exercise of the purest imagination and of the rarest faith.”

So why not? Maybe this friendship can be as real as yours and your best friends. As mine and my few friends. Who knows? And more important of all... who am I to not believe in things I cannot explain?

During one of his recent sensational (and sometimes not-so sensational....) escape acts, Eggbert got a minor shell injury in his head...

However, fear not, my two friends reading this (Hi mom and dad!) ... he is indeed already receiving all the 'medical' attention and TLC that he need and should return to his 'normal' activities pretty soon!

An absolutely adorable and friendly Veggie Beaver.

The Veggie Beaver (genus Yamstor) is a primarily nocturnal, large, semi-aquatic veggie rodent. These guys are very industrious creatures. In fact they are often referred to as nature's architects.

And I actually first found Chewy while he was trying to construct a dam inside my somewhat cloggled kitchen sink.

He has been living with us for a few weeks now. He gets a bit nervous when we turn the oven on, but by now, Eggbert has assured him that only the frozen food should be afraid of us in this house.

Beavers like Chewy eat bark, roots, leaves and twigs. But this little guy here, just absolutely looooooves carrots!

The Onions Union!

They've united.

And now they have demands .

The Union representing 57.9 million metric tons of onions have united. The different class representatives (including the babies, reds, browns and whites) are now together making the following demands:

A 15% raise on the amount of SUN they get every day.

A 12.2% raise on the amount of ORGANIC MATTER on the soil they will grow.

And finally, a 9.8% raise on the amount of WATER they will receive during springtime.

On a final statement, the Union said that "If their demands aren't met, they will go on a strike and things will, pretty soon, start to stink pretty bad."

Meanwhile, Scallions, Ramps and Leeks have also issued an official statement saying that they "Do not support the strike. But since people hardly ever remember that they are also types of onions... they don't really care."

We'll continue to keep you updated about the ongoing negotiations between the Onions Union and the Veggie Federation.

White Moray Tunieelp

Moray eels are cosmopolitan, found in both tropical and temperate seas. The approximately 200 species in 15 genera are almost exclusively marine, but several species are regularly seen in sink water and a few, like the White Moray Turnipeel can sometimes be found in freshwater fridges.

The Turnieelps are frequently thought of as particularly vicious or ill-tempered animals. In truth, they only hide from humans in fridge crevices and would rather flee than fight. Turnieelps are shy and secretive, and attack humans only in self-defense as an attempt to not be part of their meal.

In fact, they tend to be so secretive that you should try to remember the last time you actually saw one in a plate, recipe, restaurant menu or magazine… human-beings usually just ignore the existence of Turnieelps.

And that’s for the best. Since we don’t want to mess with an angry Turnieelp, right?
