Many people have a passion and love for the written word, and so in these tough economic times with so many looking for ways to supplement their current incomes, replace incomes that have been completely lost or just make ends meet, the Internet becomes the perfect place. You see many people make money online every day writing and for the passionate writer there is sure to be a perfect fit.

So let’s break it down to the types of writers you can find online.

Content writers: These writers provide content in various forms and go by many names, article marketers, or writers and ghostwriters just to name a few. They provide the lifeblood of the Internet, the content and information that draws so many online each day. You can make money by writing simple articles for other people (or yourself), or even full blown guides and books. No matter your strength and passion when it comes to writing, you can find the perfect little spot for you on the world wide web.

Then there are other writers that write to provide information. Now this may seem to be one in the same but let me clarify. Informational writers write things like press releases, this is like a news report to inform people of a special event, or newsworthy event. It is written to bring attention to something in specific and has a very specific writing style required.

Another type of writer are the technical writers. These are the writers who write the how to guides for products, they write the nitty gritty details on how to use a software or another program.

Now those are not all of them, and they are in no way exclusive.

If you are an article writer you may still have proficient skills in press releases, blog posts or any number of other writing situations. A writer can write on anything with the proper research and the more informed you are and the better you are at articulating an article and doing the research that is required, the higher your chances of success will be. The important thing is to simply find what it is you like, a place to sell your services and move forward with your income. Content is king online and you as a writer hold all the keys in the palm of your hand to open all the doors.

Nothing is more satisfying or less like work than making a living doing something you love. If you love to write and communicate, you can quickly find your place in the Internet. Do your research and you will find your way.

One of the biggest issues article marketers face when they have been doing the same niche for awhile is that they run out of ideas. It seems like you cannot write forever on the same topics and the truth is that you cannot, but you can present it in different forms and combinations at least.

Here are a few ideas to respark your imagination when your thought well runs dry.

Take some time off. Sometimes all that a writer requires is to step back from what they are doing and give their minds a bit of a break.

Hit the search engines. Type in your niche and read some of the sites that pop up. What sort of things are they talking about, see if you can get some new ideas from those. (Use them as an idea generation, not to copy and plagerize.)

Check out the forums. Type in your niche +forums in a search engine and see what kinda questions they ask, see what ideas they seem hungry for and write articles around them.

Check out Yahoo Answers. Search for your niche again and see what the common questions are, you should be able to get quite a few ideas here.

Get away from the computer. Step back into the real world. Check out the books and magizine stands, you will be amazed at the information and ideas this can spark.

Talk to people around you, check out new sites, just take a look at the world around you. Ideas are everywhere. You just need to open your mind and creative well to them. Creativity and ideas are like a river, it just needs a new source to replenish the water.

Due to living in a n instant gratification society, articles that are written in short and easy to browse formats, such as tip sheets tend to do very well. They draw the reader in, while also making it very simple for the reader to quickly skim through for the information they need, and then to your resource box.

Now of course, there are multiple ways to write tips articles and that is what we are going to discuss. The two most common ones are the tip articles explaining what to avoid and what to do.

These look like this-

“The Ten Things To Avoid When Getting Your Ex Back”

” 3 Things To Do For The Best Clickthrough”

Notice the other part of it yet?

The part where in your title you actually let the reader know exactly how many tips they are getting. Some advise to write as many as possible, others will tell you to give them a taste test of sorts with a resource box telling them to clickthrough to get to the rest of the tips. Either way works. You just need to test and see what works for your writing style and your niche.

You can also use this as a soft way to presell something. To do this you create your article with a combination of both positive and negative tips. You can do this by selecting a few of the benefits of a product as well as some of the potential drawbacks. Using this method works well to establish credibilty with readers because it doesn’t come across as the typical this product is perfect BS article. Instead, it presents things from a less biased veiw point.

Very few people take into consideration how important titles really are to articles. Yet titles should take up a fair amount of your article writing time. They are the thing that first grabs the reader’s attention, the one thing that pulls them into your article, your world. Without an effective title, you may as well write rubbish because no one will read it anyways!

Titles need to capture your reader and make them click. They are just like a resource box, your main goal is that clickthrough. In essence, your title is your first resource box. It is your call to action, your scream of read me, read me, read me.

Many people approach titles in different ways, and in effect, there are as many different ways to aproach titles as their are words and articles. For every topic ever written, there is a method of writing a title.

Here’s some things to get your started.

Try to include your keyword in your title. So if your topic is Puppy training, you would want something like “Expert Reveals The Top Puppy Training Tips”. It really isn’t hard to do that part. But check out the other part of that title. People like to take advice from experts, they like to learn secrets or have things revealed to them. A well written title will play on a person’s emotional triggers.

This one requires testing because it will vary from niche to niche. Try writing your title as a longer one. The reason being is it stands out more in the search results, there is more of it to see than a short little blurb title. If you can incorporate another portion of the keyword even better because when someone searches for it in the search engines more of it will be bolded and stand out to those scanning the search engine results page.

And like I said before, test, test, test. What works for one niche, may not work for another.

The key thing to remember is that the title is very much a key part of your article, without it, forget the rest because no one will be reading it.

Are you writing titles worth reading?

A lot of article marketers get so caught up in getting the traffic from the search engines and good rankings for keywords they forget that their actual target in the end is the reader and enticing them to do whatever action you have chosen. You want the good rankings in the search engines, to get more traffic, more people looking at your site. So learn to write for the reader and the spiders will follow.

Forget the keywords. Google’s algorithm is unknown to all, except those that actually work for them, so stop trying to game the system. If you write using normal language that you would in every day conversations about your topic you will find that not only do you write a better article, but you also end up adding in those keywords and doing LSI keywording without realizing it. And this makes it better on both ends.

Write more often. If you keep your site posting regularly the spiders will come to your site more without you searching for them. You are placing spider food that screams, new content here, come check it out. And the more those little spiders are on your sites, the more readers that will follow. So just keep on writing and the traffic will come.

Step outside the writer hat. Look at it from the customer side of things. If you were looking for a product or information on something, how would you want it served to you. Some niches prefer short little tip articles, other you can write long winded articles and they will still eat it up. Test your niche and find out what works.

So stop writing for the spiders and start writing. Readers follow the spiders and spiders follow content. Is your content spider food, or good quality content your readers actually want to read.

Many writers do not understand the true potential that article marketing really brings to an internet based business and income. There are many ways you can actually improve your ROI and make the amount you make from writing each article. Let’s discuss some of those methods.

One method to generate more income from your articles is to post them to article directories that pay you per veiw on your article (or if you are US based some will even pay you in advance for a well written article.)

Use your articles to create a report. Once you have 10-15 well written articles, it is often quite easy to compile them into a report that you can either sell, or use to gain a list, which of course can make you even more money.

Take your articles and re-purpose them. Make them into auto responder emails, add information to them and create a course. Use your imagination, you will be amazed at the amount of things you can do with articles once they are written.

Post them to your own sites as well. Do not be afraid of the duplicate content myth, in fact, post them to both your own site and the directories, let them bring in not only directory traffic but that from the search engines as well.

Another way to make more money from articles is simply to write more of them. After all, the more space you take on the internet with informative, well written information, the better your chances of being seen by your target audience. You want to have a high exposure rating, and you can do that by adding even one more article a day to your list of daily tasks. A single article doesn’t take up much time wise, but can certainly pay off huge dividends.

Article marketing can make you a lot of money when done correctly and used to it’s full potential. Are you maximizing on your efforts?

Article marketing has all the potential to expand your marketing efforts online, but it must be done right. Everyone of course has their own methods and ways that work most effectively for them, well others still, have niche specific techniques that work best. No matter the case, it is important to find what works for you and your niche. Here are some great tips that should help your efforts, irregardless of niche.

Article Marketing Tip 1-

Make your articles easily read. We live in an instant gratification society, so you need to deliver your content in a way that readers can easily scan the article and digest the information presented.

Article Marketing Tip 2-

Test, test, test. As I said above, different methods work differently for different writers and niches. By continually testing you will be sure to stay on top of new trends and find the most efficient profitable ways to use your article marketing to its highest potential.

Article Marketing Tip 3-

Write with a purpose. Just like different niches need different approaches, so too do purposes. For those just looking to build a list, providing an article packed full with information is sure to make a reader want to hear more of what you have to say. If you are reviewing a product, do so in an objectionable fashion. Nothing is worse than an obviously biased opinion, except of course to you, when you lose the sale because of it.

Article Marketing Tip 4-

Deliver on your title. If you promise the reader to provide all natural acne cures, your article better be about natural acne cures and not over the counter medications for acne. If you lie to them in the article, there is no reason for them to click through to your site. After all, what guarantees them that it won’t be written in the same fashion as the article.

Article Marketing Tip 5-

Involve your reader. Pulling a reader into your article is a better way to keep them to the end. If you write in an interesting and engaging fashion you will retain more readers to the all important resource box, then you would if you wrote a big, long, dry article.

Article marketing need not be hard, it just takes practice and perseverance. If you continue to try and put in regular hours and effort, you will find that your income becomes somewhat passive. Think about the amount of traffic you would receive to your site if you had 1000 articles pointing at it, on 20 or more sites.

Many people come online and wonder if they can become a writer. Well simple answer is yes, lots of people have enough writing talent to jump into a full fledged career as a writer online. The thing that leaves them hanging and unsure of where to go is getting started so here are some quick tips to help you in beginning your online writing life. (This is directed at those who wish to write for others.)

My first piece of advice is to set up a site with samples of your work on it as well as a contact form. On the site you can decide whether or not to advertise your rates. Many do not and still get plenty of offers. You can include samples of work as well as testimonials on the site to entice people to purchase your articles. Use your sig file in forums that allow them, advertise your site, your rates, and you will be amazed at the amount of sales that come from this alone.

Another thing I would say is RAISE YOUR PRICES, there is no reason to write for peanuts. I charge myself 5 cents a word and I know many other writers here in the forum that charge even more then me. The last thing you want to do is set yourself up for burnout. I believe Bev Clement (another warrior forum writer) has a course for Writers that may be of use for you to help understand how to price, get clients etc. You don’t have to write for peanuts, especially if you have a good grasp of the English language.

Put out the $20 to take an ad in either the classified section or the WSO section (classified means same price as you offer on your website, WSO means a better price then on your site.) of the Warrior Forum. This can help you to establish a client base with which to work with and gain testimonials from.

Another option that means less work more pay is to sell article packs with PLR. This means that they can edit and use it how they wish with their name attached. If you set a base amount to be sold like 30, you can increase the price because it is limited PLR. On average in the WSO forum you can sell them in packs this way for about $1 an article. So each article in this example would make you $30, instead of the peanuts you were thinking about writing at.

The biggest key to making a living as a writer online, is to find ways to leverage your efforts so that you make the most from every word you write.

Another example of this comes from the PLR example above. Instead of selling all 30 licenses, sell 29, use the additional one for yourself to populate your own sites, your own blogs and build your own virtual real estate empire. Or take the articles and compile them into a little report (10 articles at 500 words gives you a great start of 5K words for your report!) add a little more info, a good cover and you now have a report you can give away for getting people on your list, or even turn around and sell that report!

Being a writer really gives you limitless chances to make cash online, you just have to ensure above all else, you think outside the box and don’t sell yourself short.

Now I know this may seem odd, especially on a site where I used to write for others but the truth be told, the money isn’t there and burnout levels are high. It is much better to write for yourself, or better yet, use your writing talents to create your own products instead of writing for others for peanuts and not have a building income. (Not to say you cannot make a very good income ghostwriting, it simply isn’t a passive income.)

So here is what I am saying in a nutshell. Create your own e-book, your own guide, your own product that once done and has traffic flowing freely to it, can become a passive income stream.

I mean think about how many hours you have written content for other people, and how much money it has probably made them and continues to make them. Doesn’t it make sense to have a peice of that pie? In fact it makes all the sense in the worl. Why work your fingers to the bone writing for someone else. I mean most internet marketers are here because they got sick and tired of the rat race, sick and tired of making someone else money, but the truth is, if you write for others you are doing the same thing still.

If you love to write, continue to write, but let it put profits in your pocket, not line other’s pockets. Then when you have a nice funnel of products and traffic you can enjoy the same thing they are enjoying and who knows one day you may never write another article again and you will have someone else writing them for you because they have yet to see the truth of it all, the money is not in writing for others it is for writing yourself.
