On one side stands the master bedroom with its bathroom, and on the other side accommodations can be offered to family and guests. The typology was defined according to the best sunlight, as this is one of the richest of this Mediterranean country. We are in the west of the country, near the city of Leiria that is distinguished by loggers and mythical forests (created by King D. Thus were linked elements such as rough wood formwork of the in sight concrete and the creation of curvilinear and modern shapes, between the black color in the concrete and the traditional white plaster, between facades of black shale and Portuguese sidewalk, between the massive scale volumes and thin sun protect flaps or the long glazed windows.</p> <div id="attachment_43317" For the object to be fully successful we needed to go beyond the standard achievement of objective, functional, formal or plastic aspects. This was achieved through a characteristic seductive language, through the use of color and form. The objective was fully achieved and proven by the massive use of the object. The negative common perception of garbage bins was forgotten by the change of the status of the object itself. We observed children asking parents to put the garbage in the right place or funny scenes with families and tourists taking pictures next to bins, like an attraction. The various types of the internal mechanism, made of high resistance stainless steel, meet the objective of avoiding actual contact with dirty surfaces and limit the visual and olfactory contact with the waste. The systems for organic waste and metal use a container (a drum with rotary counterweight axis) associated with the movement of the lid. Glass and paper systems use a fixed conduit, regardless of movement of the lid. The design is an innovative response to the ecological waste separation problematic, not only by the mechanical, functional and plastic aspects, but by the provoked mental perception and reinterpretation, resulting in mindset chance of users directly translated in social awareness.</p> <h6>+ METAPHORICAL CONCEPTUAL APPROACH:</h6> <blockquote><p>He woke up in a bland day, apparently just the same as others, with the morning sun slowly following the awakening. He came to the street, still slightly disoriented, and there was something different. He felt peculiar presences around Him, but strangely He did not felt threatened.</p> <p>Already awake, he realized that they had invaded the city. Perfectly round white skin creatures, distinguished from each other by the color of their mouths, were multiplying, rolling down the hills, scattered in groups and joining at strategic points. Then, they opened their blue, yellow, green and black mouths, and began eating all the garbage, in a careful manner, with amazing criteria.</p> <p>Now he was certain that these little funny soldiers had come in peace. He knew that they wouldn&#8217;t attack and that they came with the purpose to protect him and his habitat. The Danish Nykredit Bank moved also with its headquarter to the habor district and expanded it additionally by one building this year. Harmonising with the neighbouring buildings in terms of height and volume, the dynamic appearance of the structure, dictated by its glazed façades, is a real eye catcher. Depending on the incidence of light, the façade elements produce a reflective or transparent effect. The building envelope itself rises in a dramatic tilt above a hexagonal, gemstone-shaped floor plan. In contact with the ground at only a single point and a single line at its base, the structure culminates in an elevated apex stretching out towards the city. Below is the generous main entrance, where an impressive staircase leads visitors and employees into the bright, light-flooded interior. Two triangular atria rise up through all six levels and deliver natural light to all the workstations. By superpositioning the hexagonal floor plans over the two triangular atria, each individual floor is given a z-shaped layout, with the various areas interconnected by bridges, staircases and glazed lifts. On the outside of the steel grid, the envelope is formed by a mullion-transom construction with a double-skin glass façade. The façade incorporates triple-layer GEWE-therm® multi-function glass from SCHOLLGLAS, which provides effective thermal insulation and yet is neutral in transparency and appearance. These panes also feature TGI edge-bonding, a so-called &#8216;warm edge&#8217;. For this reason, GEWE-therm® sun featuring the highly-selective coating Planistar 70/40 was used for &#8216;The Crystal&#8217;. This glass delivers just the right amount of daylight into the interior for optimal vision, while simultaneously deflecting the longwave infrared radiation that is responsible for excessive interior heating. Adapted for the respective installation situation, the GEWE-therm® triple-pane insulating glass optimally fulfils a variety of requirements. Some of the approximately 2000 panes are printed on the outside with a so-called &#8216;side one&#8217; weather-proof ink, which was applied using ceramic silk-screen printing. 36 different dot matrix combinations developed from the architects&#8217; façade design produce various degrees of transparency on the façade. The design concept for the new platform roofs provides a sense of light and space. Large roof lights, which together with the structural spans, add to a positive experience of the transfer platforms and surroundings. The elevated footbridge is fully integrated in the design, connecting the different platforms with each other and with the North entrance of the train station. The atria become the centre of the dynamic duality of the two Hanjie Wanda Square identities: Contemporary and Traditional. Variations in geometry, materials and details define these differing characters. With two main entrances, the North atrium is recognised as a main venue hall, and the South atrium as a more intimate venue hall. The North atrium is characterized by warm golden and bronze materials reflecting a cultural, traditional identity. In the South atrium Silver and grey nuances with reflective textures reflect the city identity and its urban rhythm. Both atria are crowned by skylights with a funnel structure which connect the roof and the ground floor, in addition to integrating the panorama lifts. These two materials are crafted into nine differently shaped, but standardized spheres. Their specific positions in relation to each other recreate the effect of movement and reflection in water, or the sensuous folds of silk fabric.</p> <p>The geometry ranges from full stainless steel spheres to a sequence of differently trimmed spheres with Alabaster inlay. Within each sphere either one or two LED-fixtures emit light onto the alabaster to generate glowing circular spots whilst simultaneously creating diffuse illumination on the back panel. The picture which runs 1m 15s, visually explores Elements in the context of the Columbia River Gorge, an 80 mile canyon that separates Oregon from Washington continuously to the Pacific Ocean.</p> <blockquote><p>The film series was born from our desire to communicate our design aesthetic in a much more experiential manner. Too often architecture is relegated to static images, even though the inherent art of architecture is three-dimensional and fluid. In film, one can hear and move from one space to the other, which is much more like living and breathing in a space.</p> <p><strong>William Kaven</strong> Managing Director and filmmaker, <strong>Daniel Kaven</strong></p></blockquote> <p><strong>Elements</strong> is situated on a complex site in Mosier, Oregon with panoramic views of the Columbia River Gorge and the Coyote Syncline. The home is comprised of an expansive open living space on the upper level that is separated from the harsh elements and the steep hillside only by a wall of glass continuous across the view to the gorge below. A dramatic terrace cantilevers extensively towards the river west and provides covered exterior living. The lower plinth of the structure, from which numerous rectangular forms cantilever from above, house the primary sleeping quarters and steps down onto the ground, connecting with the surrounding high desert landscape.
