Paul Wolf Lighting & Electric Supply will be on board for its fifth season in supporting the PMRA.

“Paul Wolf Lighting & Electric Supply has been great supporters of the PMRA over the years, and we are very pleased to have them return this year,” said Bruce Mehlenbacher, Director of Operations for the PMRA. “Their involvement has produced a great relationship and has helped promote our series.”

Along with its involvement in the PMRA, Wolf also sponsors one of the PMRA’s top teams, Andreacchi Motorsports with driver Sam Andreacchi of Toronto, through its relationship as co-owner with Domenic Calabria of Wolf.

Paul Wolf Lighting & Electric Supply will be front and center during the Community Weekend August 3-5 at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park, race five of the seven-event 2012 PMRA season. There will be a special on-site hospitality facility for Wolf’s customers in conjunction with some of its main suppliers including Sylvania, Eaton Cutler-Hammer, Thomas & Betts, Cooper Lighting, IED Rewards and Liteline.

Wolf’s Leslie Clarke noted that 300 of its customers are invited to enjoy the racing and the hospitality, adding that a recent company survey produced positive results.

“We recently sent out a questionnaire to our customers to see what they felt about the race day and if it had run its course. Not to our surprise they love it,” she said. “About 95 percent said not to give it up, as they had a great day.”

Established in 1963, Paul Wolf Lighting & Electric Supply Ltd is excited to celebrate 50 years in business in 2013. It has prided itself over the years on excellent customer service and is committed to using only the highest qualified trained professionals, with years of experience in the industry, along with the finest quality material available. Plug into the Experts for all your electrical and lighting needs and feel the difference.

“We are excited for the August weekend! To see our customers enjoy themselves is always a great feeling,” Clarke said. “We are even more pumped to see Sam out there with his new car! “It’s all about good people, and it’s a fun-filled exciting day.”

HAMILTON, ONTARIO (May 16, 2012) – The Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series is pleased to welcome Aulward Graphics as the Preferred Printing Supplier to the three drag race series.

“We are pleased and welcome Aulward to our series,” said Bruce Mehlenbacher, Director of Operations of all three series. “This is a great addition to the continued growth of our race series.”

Mehlenbacher added that Aulward will be instrumental in providing the opportunity to promote and market the three racing series with its drivers, venues, and events.

“Our partnering with Aulward will allow us to work together in taking the promotion of the PMRA, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the PBSS to the next level,” said Mehlenbacher. “We look forward to Aulward’s expertise and professionalism in the important aspect of our sport.”

Aulward will be presenting a $1000 award to a competitor from the PMRA, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the PBSS at the annual champions’ banquet. This award will be presented on a random basis, and each team that competes and displays the Aulward Graphics decal on their vehicle for 2012 is eligible.

Started in 1967 by Blaine’s father Paul Prince, Aulward Graphics has grown and prospered into the largest sheet-fed printer in the Hamilton area, and is capable of providing printing solutions from business cards to hard-cover books. With equipment such as a Xerox 770 digital color press, Komori 40-inch six-color coater, and Bobst 40-inch diecutter, Aulward can handle just about any prepress, printing, and bindery operation.

The company is also a main proponent of fulfillment orders, which entails packaging printing materials for various needs, and produces these packaging needs for clients around the globe.

Adopting a philosophy of merging the value of craftsmanship with leading edge technology, Aulward has adapted to the industry’s constant changes with a heritage rich in quality and craftsmanship.

The business started in a shop in Grimsby, Ontario, and Aulward’s Blaine Prince noted that they are now in their fifth building to meet this growth and expansion. Some of Aulward’s clients include Navistar, Cogeco, and the Good Shepherd Society, along with involvement with The Mackenzie Printery Museum and annual appearances at the Marshville Fair.

Prince said he has always been interested in racing.

“I’ve always worked and crewed on race cars from dirt Sportsman and Modifieds to win-turbo drag cars,” he said. “We struck up an association with Rick Kopp (Burlington resident Kopp competes in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series with his Top Dragster), and things went from there. I look forward to Aulward’s involvement in the PMRA, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series and the PBSS series for years to come.”

As the Preferred Printing Supplier to the PMRA, Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the PBSS, Aulward will be involved in several printing and graphics areas, including hero cards, posters, marketing packages, and other media-related items.

CAYUGA, ONTARIO (May 16, 2012) – It started with a small group of dedicated racers who believed in an idea, and this idea has grown and prospered.

With the organization of the Pro Modified Racing Association late in 2004, the first event was held at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park during the May holiday weekend in 2005. Carl Spiering of Jordan Station, Ontario, won the final round of that first race over Al Billes of Barrie, Ontario.

And since that night eight years ago, the Victoria Day Weekend Challenge at Cayuga has traditionally opened the PMRA season. For 2012 this tradition continues as the fast and popular Pro Modifieds take to the track May 18-20 for the first of seven PMRA race this season.

But the Pro Modifieds are only part of the show this year. Entering its fourth season is the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts. This series features Top Dragster cars and Top Sportsman cars which compete against each other, and the top eliminator in each meets up to determine an event winner. The Top Dragster of TJ Schippling of Shakespeare, Ontario won that first event in May of 2009 over the Top Sportsman entry of Jeff Gable of Stratford, Ontario.

In 2011, the PMRA and Quick 32 Sportsman Series were complimented with the introduction of a third drag race series, the Pro Bike & Sled Series. This new series featured Pro Bikes and Pro Sleds in a racing manner similar to the Quick 32 Series, competing on a Sportsman ladder and dial-in procedures.

Winning the opener at Cayuga in 2011 in the PBSS presented by Wiseco Performance Products was the Pro Sled of Bill Anderson of Seaforth, Ontario, over the Pro Bike entry of Randy Hope of London, Ontario.

Racing for the Victoria Day Weekend Challenge gets underway with qualifying rounds on Saturday beginning at 2 pm, with eliminations in all series scheduled to begin Sunday, May 20, at 11:15 am.

This event is the first for 2012 for the PMRA, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the PBSS.

CAYUGA, ONTARIO (May 9, 2012) – The opening rounds in the Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series are only days away, and last year’s winners will once again be trying to get off to a winning start.

The Victoria Day Weekend Challenge at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park has been the traditional season start for the drag race series, and this tradition continues May 18-20.

The PMRA will kick off its eighth year at Cayuga. In last year’s event, three-time PMRA champion Bruce Boland of Hamilton, Ontario, got right into his winning ways with his 1941 Willys, defeating Gary Irving of Toronto in the Al Hinds Corvette. Boland, who placed second in the 2011 Pro Modified Racing Association Championship Point Award Series, qualified number one and took out Irving with a 6.087-second, 234.37-mph run against the 6.309, 222.33 of Irving, who qualified sixth.

Phil Sampson of Granton, Ontario got off to a fine start in 2011 with his Top Sportsman Cavalier entry, qualifying eighth and posting a 7.238 at 188.73 to win the Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts final over the Top Dragster of Jamie Bridge of Napanee, Ontario, who qualified sixth and ran a 6.953, 179.25 in the final.

Sampson’s success continued during the season, winning the Quick 32 Sportsman Series Championship Point Award Series Standings for the series’ third season.

Winning the inaugural race in the Pro Bike & Sled Series presented by Wiseco Performance Products was Pro Sled racer Bill Anderson of Seaforth, Ontario. Anderson, who rides an Arctic Cat, qualified third on the Pro Sled side of the ladder, and eliminated Pro Bike Rider Randy Hope of London, Ontario in the final.

In the elimination final, Anderson ran a 9.725, 140. 63 over Hope’s 8.683, 145.05. Hope went on to have a successful season in the PBSS, winning Pro Bike & Sled Series 2011 Championship Point Award Series.

The upcoming The Victoria Day Weekend Challenge May 18-20 at Cayuga will be the first of six rounds of drag racing action in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series and the PBSS. It will also be the first round for the PMRA, which will race in the same six events at its companion series, plus an extra event this year.

Qualifying is scheduled to take place Saturday, May 19 starting at 2 pm in all three series, with elimination rounds to begin at 11:15 am Sunday May 20.

NORTH TONAWANDA, NEW YORK (May 2, 2012) – “Well, we have got seven races this year, so that is seven chances to win one.”

Jack Grainy, driver of the Grainy Brothers 1967 Chevy Camaro Pro Modified, has been racing in the Pro Modified Racing Association since the series’ inception in 2005, and has yet to win an event. So, in the hopes of getting that illusive first win, the team has boosted its effort with some new engine equipment for 2012.

“We are ready to go,” said Grainy, who has been racing since the mid-1970s. “We have beefed up the engine and have a new blower setup with the help of Mike Janis.”

He noted the team has installed a new data logger in the help of getting down the quarter mile with more success.

The Camaro, a G-Force Race Cars product, is powered by a 526-cubic inch Brad Anderson Supercharged Hemi built by Mike Janis Racing. A PSI Screw-type Supercharger sits atop the engine, which also features a Mike Janis Racing fuel system. This is backed up by a Lenco three-speed, and the car is capable of five-second runs at over 240 mph. The team placed eighth in the PMRA Championship Point Award Series in 2011.

Grainy noted that the competition in the series gets faster every year.
“It was pretty wild last year,” he noted about the PMRA racing. “I cannot imagine what will happen this year, but we’ll be ready.”

Jack’s brother Sonny Grainy is crew chief for the team, with Aggy Mudra and Jack Grainy Jr helping. The team is sponsored by Niagara Auto and Grainy’s Automotive.

Grainy said the team is anxiously awaiting the new season.

“I am looking forward to coming back,” he said. “We really enjoy the series, and are pleased to be a part of it as it grows each year.”

CAYUGA, ONTARIO (April 30, 2012) – The teams have been working hard during the off-season and the fans are ready for the opening round in the 2012 Pro Modified Racing Association, the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the Pro Bike & Sled Series.

Racers had spent the past few months updating, modifying, and everything else to get more power from their racecars. Along with several new teams in the three drag race series, many are returning for the starting race of the year, the Victoria Day Weekend Challenge to be held May 18-20 at the Cayuga Dragway of Toronto Motorsports Park.

Qualifying sessions will take place Saturday, May 19, with elimination rounds scheduled to begin Sunday, May 20.

This race marks the beginning of the eighth year for the PMRA, the fourth for the Quick 32 Sportsman Series, and the second for the PBSS.

“We will have a great contingent of racers in all series this year,” noted Bruce Mehlenbacher, Director of Operations for the three series. “A lot of teams have spent the winter rebuilding and upping their game plan, and we should see some terrific racing for the Cayuga opener.”

Last year’s PMRA championship was won by a mere point as Vito Montesano of Maple, Ontario, just edged out three-time champ Bruce Boland of Hamilton, Ontario, 1534 to 1533. And with his new race car, Eric Latino of Whitby, Ontario came on strong, placing third with 1526 points.

The Quick 32 Sportsman Series presented by NAPA Auto Parts is comprised of two classes, Top Dragster and Top Sportsman. In 2011, for the third straight year, a Top Sportsman entry won the championship, as Phil Sampson of Granton, Ontario amassed 1239 points with his Chevy Cavalier over the second-place Top Dragster of Napanee, Ontario’s Jamie Bridge with 1201 points.

The inaugural season in the PBSS presented by Wiseco Performance Products, which pits Pro Motorcycle riders against Pro Sled riders, was a great success, with Randy Hope of London, Ontario taking home the championship with his Pro Bike Kawasaki entry. The Pro Bike of Dan Cryderman of Thamesville, Ontario was second, and the Arctic Cat Pro Sled of Bill Anderson of Seaforth, Ontario placed third.

The Victoria Day Weekend Challenge will be the first of six rounds of racing for the Quick 32 Sportsman Series and the PBSS. These two series will also race at Cayuga June 22-24 and August 3-5, along with events at the Grand Bend Motorplex August 10-12 and August 31 – September 2.

All three series will be travelling to the US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin Michigan June 8-9, for an inaugural event at this famous drag race facility.

The PMRA Pro Modifieds will also race at the six above mentioned dates, plus will compete as part of the IHRA Mopar Nitro Jam Nationals July 20-22 at the Grand Bend Motorplex.
