Step 2: launch absinthe

Comparing the two services for audiobook purchases on the iPhone / iOS devices I have both iTunes and audible audiobook purchases.

Audible
Pro: -download purchased audiobooks
-books are often cheaper(w/membership)

Cons: You let me know. Their app is even awesome.

iTunes
Pro: -works with iTunes gift cards

Cons: -no downloading past purchases without paying full price again.
-no app with features like audible.
-no membership for discounts.

Overall I would say go with audible.

I know I'm slow on this update. Just an FYI for those who don't know.

Google.com/music has a mobile site now and you can play your music through safari. Works on lock screen and in background. And the music controls work with the app as well. Looks like I need to update my library.

Hopefully iOS 5.1 has this feature

I sitting here watching a video I YouTube.

I like the video after and decide I want to share it with my buddy. So I click share. Easy.

So I click. And options are:

But wait. He doest have twitter... Like hell if I know his email. I can Text/iMessage/FaceBook messenger him.

So what do I do?
Send an 'email'.

Then carefully copy the URL

Then paste it into a text or where ever.

Needs to have a context menu something like this:

Minimize Data Usage Tips

Here are some tips that I've thought of since AT&T got mad at me and took away my unlimited data for tethering. In my defense they do not offer a plan had fulfilled my needs which was/is unlimited data with tethering.

I will add more tips as I come across them and feel free to tell me yours in the comments.

Selective updates:
When I used to have unlimited data I obviously didn't mind doing all my updates over-the-air. But now I choose to update my apps on my home wifi or public wifi like Starbucks.

MMS over iMessage:
If your getting really tight use picture message over iMessage. For texting photos to friends.

For the VOIP apps:
If there is an option to configure the codec do so and do some research to figure out which one uses the least amount of bandwidth. Note: Some use more process to encode the packets which could kill your battery faster.

For the jailbroken folks:

Block ads:
Edit your host file to block all the banner ads and then you will not have to pay for ads that you didn't even want in the first place. Can not wait for the A4 jailbreak to happen so I can do this.

I haven't google an ip check site in awhile so I don't know how long this has been in place. But just google "whats my ip" and google will shoot back your external ip address. Pretty neat.

Slingbox

So I'm testing the waters of slingbox today. Just got my slingbox in the mail from eBay. I got one of the old slingbox classics because like I said I am just testing the waters and I only paid $30 bucks for the unit. It came with no cables but I had everything I needed. Laying around. I don't intend I hooking mine up to a box. Basic cable is fine for what I need so I don't need those over priced IR Blaster.

I've had a horrible time thus far. I tried setting it up though the web and it kept asking me for a password and it would essentially loop. Then I did half through my MacBook and half with the web app garbage and its still throwing me errors. This is not looking good for slingbox media. I probably am not going to buy the $170 model at this rate. An from what I read you have to pay for the tech support.

If its not working in the morning I'm either sending it back to the guy from email or listing it myself on email. And looking for a similar alternative. Updated: Could never get the slingbox classic to work. Would not recommend it to anyone.

How to put newsstand into a folder iOS5

With my new iPhone4S I got a few new things one being the dual core yay. Another being Siri.. Derp it sucks right now. And lastly I got newsstand. Pointless (for me).
Let's put it in a folder. Wait it wont.
I know this works on iPhone4S iOS5.
What you do is create a New folder and as it formulate quickly grab the newsstand and drag it in. And it should go in. But if you try to launch the app while it is in the folder it will crash your springboard. So only do this if you don't use it.

Apparently we don't need this feature anymore?
I am an AT&T user and I liked being able to switch to EDGE networks because it works on a smaller wave length that can penetrate through dungeon walls better than 3G can.

Wasting the most valuable part of the day

Today I was wondering why is it that we work during the day. Inside all day while we waste away the beautiful weather outside. While I was getting ready for bed - brushing my teeth I realized it was because back in the day they didn't really have office jobs or lights. But why are we still in the habbit of it? I know very few people who work night shifts. I usually take off my work shoes by 6 and night falls around 7 depending on the time of year. Night time isn't the greatest to go to the park or shopping. A lot of those places actually have laws preventing you from visiting at such an hour. My job doesn't really depend on the time of day. I feel that its easier to stay awake that it is to wake up in some cases. It would almost be better if I did my after work stuff before work. That way if I sleep in its ok its only taking from my time instead of work time. Whereas now it goes : work time, my time, sleep time. Now if I extended my time it pushes sleep time into work time. It would be more productive if I could push my sleep time into my time.

Blah blah blah haha. Late night thoughs.

How I fixed my limp stapler in 5 minutes

So I had this stapler that wouldn't spring back up. I began by opening
the stapler to discover the spring had been damaged.

After taking it apart and determining the problem I began to look in my desk drawer for a solution.
(Most of this junk was already in the desk when I adopted it)

I first tried to use a spring from a mechanical pencil, but I had no way of keeping it mounted. So I started to look for something else..

Finding the Rubber-band I began to apply it to the stapler.

Notice how I placed it over the thicker part of the whole that way when I press down to staple I don't chop the band all up into pieces.
