Washington: Swift Action Needed on Three Gun Bills

Friday Deadline for Bills to Pass Out of Committee!

As reported last week, House Bill 1508, legislation relating to shooting ranges, and House Bill 2471, a background check reform bill, both passed in the state House, and Senate Bill 6123, an NRA special license plate bill, passed in the state Senate.

All of the aforementioned bills have now been assigned to policy committees in their opposite chambers, but none have been scheduled for a hearing. The deadline for the bills to be heard and action by their current committees is this Friday, February 24.

Introduced by state Representatives Dean Takko (D-19), Tim Probst (D-17) and Kevin Van De Wege (D-24), House Bill 1508 would have originally ensured that existing shooting ranges were broadly protected against civil liability and criminal charges related to noise pollution. However, this bill was amended and significantly weakened in the state House Judiciary Committee, leaving it as a measure that would no longer provide an adequate level of protection for shooting ranges.

HB 1508 was amended again and improved somewhat on the House floor, and while it is not yet where we want it to be, the current version is better than the one that passed in the House Judiciary Committee. In order to strengthen this bill further and keep it moving, HB 1508 must get a public hearing and action taken by the state Senate Judiciary Committee by Friday.

House Bill 2471 passed in the state House of Representatives unamended and was also assigned to the state Senate Judiciary Committee. Sponsored by seven state Representatives, HB 2471 would exempt CPL holders, whose licenses were issued on or after July 22, 2011, from having to undergo any sort of background check when purchasing a pistol. Additionally, this bill would require only the FBI National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) check for CPL holders whose permits were issued prior to July 22, 2011. HB 2471 must pass in the Senate Judiciary Committee by Friday.

Please contact state Senator Adam Kline (D-37), Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee and respectfully urge him to schedule a hearing for HB 1508 and HB 2471. Senator Kline can be contacted by phone at (360) 786-7688 and by e-mail at adam.kline@leg.wa.gov.

Also, Senate Bill 6123, sponsored by nineteen state Senators, would create a special NRA license plate, with revenue going to fund firearm safety and education as part of the hunter education training program. SB 6123 is now pending in the state House Transportation Committee and must pass in committee by Friday.

Please contact state Representative Judy Clibborn (D-41), Chairman of the House Transportation Committee, and respectfully request that she schedule SB 6123 for a hearing. Representative Clibborn can be contacted by phone at (360) 786-7926 and by e-mail at judy.clibborn@leg.wa.gov.

Thank you for your continued efforts on these important pieces of legislation!

Do you think there is any truth to the news about Obama's bed buddy Soros buying up these weak gun and bullet manufacturing companies just so the DOPE can take away our rights and out guns?

This is scary...............
Continued assault on our freedoms come from "behind the scenes" in a lot of different ways, here's an example.

Who is buying gun companies

SOMETHING YOU MAY NOT KNOW , THAT IS HAPPENING

Who is buying companies, manufacturing guns ?????

For the last several years a company called The Freedom Group has been
buying up gun and ammunition manufacturers. Some of the companies are
Bushmaster, Marlin, Remington, DPMS, Dakota Arms and H&R. Some
people worry that this Freedom Group is going to control most of the
firearms companies in the United States . If you control the manufacturers
you can decide to stop selling to civilians.. What a perfect way to control
guns.
Now if you do some digging you will see that The Freedom Group is owned
by a company called Cerberus Capital Management. A very large privately owned
LLP with assets of $13 billion. The company is named after the three headed
dog that guards the gates to hell. [Nice touch?]

Guess who controls Cerberus??? GEORGE SOROS !!!!!!!!! One of the
most evil men on this planet who wants to restrict or ban all civilian guns.
Please pass this on to all your freedom loving friends. This needs to come
out. Why have we not heard about this in the "mainstream" media? I would
think this would be BIG news. (Soros also owns Progressive Insurance)

If you don't know who George Soros is, you need to do some
research. He backed Obama with multi-millions of dollars and
Obama is often characterized as a puppet on a string, controlled by Soros .

Send this to every gun owner in America .

Oh yeah and do you think if you tell everyone what you own by using this FBI web site that big brother knows and is keeping track, OOOOHHH

I shot a match last Saturday the 18th with the Eugene Practical Shooters IDPA in Eugene, Oregon.

Stage 1 and 2, I used only my Hat Cam and 1 other camera. It was raining on/off and I didn't want to have too many cams exposed to the rain. On stage 3 my Hat Cam went down so I only used 1 cam for the rest of the match.

Link Video EPS IDPA 02/18/12

Here is the Course of Fire:

Stage 1
String 1: Start in box. At start engage T1 and T2 with 2 rounds each while moving to barrel on right. At barrel engage steel plate from low cover.

String 2: Start in box. At start engage T1 and T2 with 2 rounds each while moving to barrel on left. At barrel engage steel plate from low cover.

Stage 2
At start engage T1 with 3 rounds from retention. Move to wall then engage remaining targets with 3 rounds each from cover of left and right sides of wall.

Stage 3
Forced malfunction drill. Before starting, a squad mate would load a empty casing in your mag between round 1 and round 6. This was done to force a malfunction during the course of fire. At start engage T1-T3 with 2 rounds each from right side of barricade, clearing the gun malfunction as it appears. Then do the appropriate reload and engage T1-T3 with 2 rounds each from left side of barricade.

Stage 4
At start engage T1 with 2 rounds. Then engage poppers 1 and 2 from cover of hallway. Then engage T2 with 2 rounds from cover. Then advance down hallway and engage T3 and T4 with 2 rounds each.

Stage 5
Starting seated in car with seatbelt on, gun pointed out window on target. At start engage T1-T3 with 2 rounds each.

Hey guy's I'm looking to get a new rifle for some plinking, I'm getting some inheritance since my grandmother passed away. I've been looking at getting a basic Romanian AK47, I have an SKS and have roughly 5,500-6,000 rounds for it, so was just curious if there's a particular AK you folks would go for, when looking I noticed there are alot of different brands and what not, I just need to know what to avoid and what not. Any input would b e greatly appreciated.

I would like to get one and there are so many companies that make the basic vest itself, I'm not sure which to go with, they range from 30 dollars to 150. It would be great for trekking through the woods and what not. Just wondering if anyone has any advice on which vest would be the best to get, and accessories and what not.

Absolutely 100% MINT condition (100 rounds fired) Springfield Armory XD9 4" (9mm). For all intents and purposes, this is still a NEW firearm. Still has that 'new gun smell'. Included: 2 16-Round Stainless SA Magazines & Pachmayr® XD Grip. Regular 3-Dot Sights. I have the Manual, Warranty Card and Factory Test Casing from 7/8/2010. Trades I'd Consider: Compact 1911, Sig Sauer, S&W 4006, Bersa Thunder Pro 40, Beretta 92/96/90-Two, Stainless Semi-Autos, Taurus PT/100/101/940, Colt, Walther, FNP-40, Kimber, CZ, H&K, EAA or other quality handguns in 40SW or 9mm only.
