String 2: Gun loaded on the table, standing facing up range. At start turn pick up your gun and engage T2 with 2 rounds.

String 3: Gun holstered. At start, draw and engage 2 rounds to T3, free style, head shots only.

String 4: Gun in weak hand pointing 45 degrees down range. At start engage T4 with 2 rounds.

String 5: Gun holstered. At start draw, strong hand only and engage T5 with 2 rounds, head shots only.

String 6: Seated, gun loaded in box on table. At start, open box, get your gun and engage T6 with 2 rounds, free style.

Stage 7: Gun loaded, on the ground in front of you. Standing about 3 feet from barricade, at start go prone, get your gun and engage T7 with 2 rounds from under the barricade.

Stage 2

Seated, gun in box unloaded with 3 mags loaded to 6 rounds each also in box. At start open box, get your gun and load it. Engage T1-T3 with one round each then T4-T6 with 1 round each. Reload then, strong hand only, engage T1-T3 with 1 round each then T4-T6 with 1 round each. Reload then, weak hand only, engage T1-T3 with 1 round each then T4-T6 with 1 round each.

I got a procedural error on stage 2 for shooting out of order. You can see it when I'm shooting right hand only, at about 1:20, I pause after the 2nd shot because I realized that shot was not supposed to be on that target.... LOL

My personal favorite defense gun has always been a Beretta Jetfire in 22 short.
Over all the years I've been hiking I never leave without it in my pocket. Of course, we all know to the first rule when hiking in the wilderness is to use the "Buddy System". For those of you who may be unfamiliar with this it means you NEVER hike alone, you bring a friend or companion that way if something happens there is someone to go get help.
I remember one time hiking with my brother-in-law in northern Alberta .
Out of nowhere came this huge brown bear and man was she mad. We must have been near one of her cubs.
Anyway, if I had not had my little Jetfire I'd sure not be here today. Just one shot to my brother-in-law's knee cap and I was able to escape by just walking at a brisk pace.

That's one of the best pistols in my safe today!

Always remember the first rule of survival. You don't have to be the fastest. You just can't be the slowest.

It was the first time shooting my M1A, first time shooting any rifle really, and certainly my first time shooting at 200 yards offhand. Great facility out there at Ravensdale, great course content, and the most helpful folks I've come across.

I will say that what I've read elsewhere is true: shooting an M14-style rifle on a competition line is a lonely prospect. Of the 35-40 people there, I only saw one other M1A on the line -- it really is an AR-game it seems like!

Looking forward to the second and third sessions!

Mounts to the gun with 3 6-48 screws, newer S&W's are pre drilled for the third hole, will fit older guns (pre 90 something IIRC) but the third hole will have to be drilled and tapped. I had all 3 screws, but two are now MIA. easy enough to obtain at most shops that mount scopes.

from what I can see, these are no longer made.

very good condition, looks new.

A bit of a redundant question but I was just curious.

All my reloads were shot using a Nikon Pro Staff 2-7x32mm scope, not my red dot. Rather than overload this post with pictures, I'll just post the links.

The weather today was almost perfect for the winter...for SW Washington anyway. Mostly sunny, no wind, and 39 degrees. I had no feeding issues, 1 FTF, and no FTE. I think the biggest result of shooting my reloads, besides seeing the accuracy, was no signs of over pressure...no swipes were seen on the brass and the ejection pattern was good to go.

50 yard zero-Bushnell Trophy 1x32 Red Dot using Hornady 120gr SSTs.

SSA brass, Rem 7 1/2 SRP, 110gr SPHs, C.O.A.L 1.676", O.A.L. 2.275" to 2.28"

Target 1-27gr to 27.4gr of H322
http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/...SAReloads1.jpg

Target 2-27.6gr to 28gr of H322
http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/...SAReloads2.jpg

Most accurate: 27.8gr of H322. 1st 5 shot group .648". 2nd 5 shot grop .774".

Rem brass, CCI BR2 LRP, 110gr SPHs, C.O.A.L. 1.678" to 1.686" (no trimming needed), O.A.L. 2.275" to 2.28"

Target 1-27gr to 27.6gr of H322
http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/...emReloads1.jpg

Target 2-27.8gr to 28.2gr of H322
http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/...emReloads2.jpg

Target 3-28.4gr to 28.8gr of H322
http://i1130.photobucket.com/albums/...emReloads3.jpg

Most accurate: 27.2gr of H322. 1st 5 shot group .942". 2nd 5 shot group 1.119".

Now it's time to fine tune these recipes, but I still have 76 rounds of Hornady brass reloads to shoot. I'll also have to try different bullets and powders, but I'll worry about that later.
