I have a burning question which should be simple to answer, although I could be wrong.

There are as many brands of pistol ammo as there are people, it seems and everyone I ask has a different take. So I'm asking here.

For personal defense, what is the best? Hornady? Winchester? Speer?

And for plinking, is there a 'cleaner' firing round or are range rounds supposed to leave your side-arm dirtier than the bum in the back alley? Does it depend on the gun?

I test-fired 10 rounds of Critical Duty (Hornady) at the range and my pistol was cleaner than 10 rounds of MagTech range rounds. Why is that? This is not to say that it was clean by any means but it was after firing the Hornadys, although I still went thru the motions of cleaning it. Why are range rounds so filthy when personal protection are clean?

Really I'm just looking for a Ruger 10/22 receiver with a carbine barrel, or a .920" bull barrel; 18.5" (or longer).

So I bought a GunVault a few months back when my daughter started crawling around. I like it for the most part, but the batteries were only lasting a few weeks. A month at a time at the most. With 8 AA a month, I was getting really annoyed and thinking about getting rid of it and looking for something else.

Well I was reading the manual, and they suggested changing the batteries at least evety year wether they needed them or not. So I called the company, and they are sending me a new one, just like that. I'm pretty happy with the customer service so far, but lets wait until it's all figured out before I get too excited.

Anyone else have similar problems with a GunVault or similar lock box?

Smith and Wesson's "Not a Model 41" .22 pistol.

I picked this up for plinking and have been running it as an "open" .22 at the Renton Steels matches.

I've decided to go a different direction, and bought a .22 conversion kit.

Condition: Good
Mechanically, it's in great condition, cleaned frequently, not any more picky than any other .22 about ammo. One of the allen bolts that holds the top rail on has come out. I've got a new one on the way from S&W

Cosmetically, there are a few small nicks in the finish, and general wear on bearing surfaces.

Extras:
Comes with 6 (4 extra, ~$100 retail) magazines.

Price:
Looking for $250ish, but am open to offers.

*Currently $9.99* Tactical Pistol Gun Case...

Currently $9.99 Tactical Pistol Gun Case

I need a gun case for my 1911, the price was right so I bought one in Black and one in Olive Drab. I haven't left the house with one yet, but for $9.99 I am pretty happy with the purchase. Obviously there is a 2 zipper center pouch for the weapon, no photos of that needed.

"Gun case is made of PVC coated polyester with closed foam cell padding. This case features 2 zippered pockets and 7 magazine pouches."

Dimensions:
Overall: 9" x 14"
Dimensions Internal: 7" x 14"
Zippered pockets 6-1/2" L x 6-1/2" T x 1-1/2" W
Built in 2 strap carrying handle

The magazine pouches are designed for DS magazines, so you can easily put 2 1911 SS magazines in one pouch allowing for 14 total if needed, the flap has full length Velcro, my photo makes it look like a narrow strip, but it's just as wide as the Velcro strip over the magazine pouches.

(1911 used to hold zippered pockets open) You can carry another 200 Rounds of .45 apc in the zippered pockets. You can see the PVC coated inside in this photo also.

I'm no Pitch Man, but I hope this is useful to somebody :ninja:

So I picked up this Llama Minimax .40 off a close friend of mine. Very very cheap and I have shot it before. Jammed only on really old steel cased ammo, but was great on nicer brass ammo. I have heard bad things about Llama, but man I like this lil thing! Anyways I posted a couple pics of it so far.

Oh and if anyone knows what mags I can get for this thing that would be awesome. I think I have an idea of what to get for it, but other then that I will just go into my local gunsmith and ask them.
I've got a 1,000 rounds of new .45-Auto on the way. It shipped today (Monday) and is scheduled to arrive Wednesday.

I figured I'd start off with their new stuff and then maybe check out their reloads if the new stuff shoots well -- and maybe even their "Blaster: Training Ammo", but there's not a significant price difference in my mind.

The price seems alright to me when I consider the shipping ($18), no tax and how close they are (Idaho). I'll let you know how it goes once it gets here and I get a chance to shoot some...

Hey guys, I'm looking for someone that's knowledgeable about a variety of guns, can identify what they are and help me coming up with a value. Our elderly neighbors are friends of ours and the husband passed away a few months ago. The wife is selling his guns.

He had a cache down in Arizona and one up here. A family friend who owns a gun store appraised everything down there but she needs help with the stuff up here.

I'm going to help by taking pictures, helping with research (if needed) and posting up what he has. I'm pretty sure most of it is hunting-related stuff. He use to go on safaris back in the day (amazing pictures of him with big game kills, not to mention the zebra skin rug in their front room).

Anyway, with that in mind there is probably an assortment of hunting rifles and side arms. I haven't been over there to look at it yet -- she'd asked if I might be able to help though.

Oh, and one of the two big safes will also be available (she's keeping one for regular safe purposes).

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Please forgive this for sounding more like a rant, but I am extremely unhappy.
I ordered 2 holsters from Fist after reading several reviews raving about the quality of their product. My first clue should have been when I ordered over the phone and the woman I was talking to was acting like I was wasting her time and rushing me. I was told they should arrive in 6-8 weeks. 14 weeks later, It finally arrived. This was after several more phone calls which all lacked customer service. Finally it arrived and all the holsters fit extremely loosely. I suppose I should note that I ordered a pocket holster for my KelTec PF9 and an IWB for appendix for my springfield XDSC with crimson trace laserguard (They were one of the few I found who were able to make a holster for the XD with laserguard). Despite the loose fit, I decided to try them anyway (unloaded). The leather for the IWB was so thick you could even see the bulge with a fleece coat. The pocket holster had a thumb wedge that facilitated unholstering (one of the main reasons i ended up ordering from them). I have average size to large hands, the wedge was placed so high that I could barely get my thumb on it at all. It was even harder in my pocket. I called them back. This time I talked to Jim. He actually had people skills and convinced me to send them back for modifications. They are moving the wedge on the pocket holster and remaking the IWB in their "ultra-thin" kydex. I will post an update when they come in with how well those work out.

Sorry for the rant, Thanks for reading!!!

1964 Browning Superposed Lightning made In Belgium Standard O/U 12 Gauge Shotgun. Double set of fixed choke vent rib barrels chambered for 2 3/4" Shells. Both sets of barrels and the receiver have matching serial numbers.

In Good to Very Good condition. Has the factory matching case.

I inherited this and I am the second owner.

I am looking to get $1500 OBO.

Trade is preferred. For trade I am looking for a 4” or less barrel 1911 .45, Kimber, Springfield or better of comparable worth. Don't be afraid to shoot me offers. I do have some flexibility on this.

Some other items I would trade with cash would be a good Press Brake, Shop press (10 ton or better), tubing bender and other metal working tools.
