"Bachelorette is a play about the in-between space. The place you are when you're reconciling who you thought you were gonna be when you grew up with who you've become. The place when partying starts to look a lot like addiction. The moment you used to pass off as a bad night of drinking, sex and mistakes has suddenly extended into a bad life of drinking, sex and mistakes." - Leslye Headland

In this Philadelphia premier presented by Fever Dream Repertory, Beautiful Child tells the story of Harry and Nan, a middle-aged couple losing their grip on the tattered remains of their marriage. Their beloved grown son Isaac arrives for what they believe to be a brief visit home but he surprises them with the request to come home on a more long-term basis. Then he tells them why: he needs them to hide him because it’s possible that his latest love affair may be publicly revealed. A “love affair,” as he calls it, with an eight-year-old boy.

Nicky Silver’s play does not settle for easy answers or obvious solutions. Isaac does not see himself as a pedophile, just a gay man in love with a boy who loves him back. Harry and Nan struggle with the shock of the revelation, the horror at the their son’s act of molestation, and growing guilt at what they think might be their own culpability. And the final question remains: how do they protect this son they love so much and still prevent him from repeating his monstrously predatory actions?</itunes:summary><itunes:author>Represented Podcast Network</itunes:author><itunes:explicit>no</itunes:explicit>
<itunes:keywords>philadelphia,represented,theatre,rep,radio,morse,walnut,arden,interact,wilma,radford,darnelle,holtsberry,scatton,barrymore</itunes:keywords>

<feedburner:origEnclosureLink>http://repradio.org/wp-content/uploads/repradio/181beautifulchild.m4a</feedburner:origEnclosureLink>

Tiny Tales

Off-Color is proud to present their very own brand of CHILDREN’S THEATRE. 1812 Productions is pleased to occupy Center City with the sixth annual production of its celebrated political comedy, This Is The Week That Is.

November 25th—December 31st, 2011 (EXTENDED RUN)

Written by the This Is The Week That Is Ensemble featuring:

Scott Greer, Dave Jadico, Susan Riley Stevens, Jennifer Childs, Don Montrey, Aimé Kelly, Reuben Mitchell, Greg Nix, Thomas E. Shotkin, and Musical Director, Tabitha Allen

Directed by Jennifer Childs | Assistant Director: Greg Nix

A trademark 1812 production, This Is The Week That Is will present all the news that’s fit to skewer, featuring cast members new and returning (as well as a few surprise guests). The infamous Patsy, played by Jennifer Childs, is back with more advice for the Washington-weary. Don Montrey, the show’s head writer for the past four seasons, takes the stage behind the news desk, joined by Scott Greer and Susan Riley Stevens. Aimé Kelly brings us up-to-the-minute entertainment news while roving reporter Dave Jadico broadcasts the latest news from the lobby, with special reports and late breaking news from 1812 newcomer Reuben Mitchell.

A woman on her deathbed faces the regrets of a life half-lived in this fierce and funny play by Ireland's leading female playwright. At once theatrical and richly poetic, Woman and Scarecrow stages an epic confrontation between a mother of eight and the specters of her haunted past. Lauded by critics as “powerful,” “moving,” and “lyrical,” Marina Carr’s spirited script is less about the loss of life than it is about the power and profundity of our time here on earth. Don’t miss this Philadelphia-area premiere!

ABOUT NAKED FEET PRODUCTIONS

Naked Feet is committed to creating original works and recreating old works which deconstruct our mythology, figuratively and literally. Naked Feet challenges who we are in regards to the expectations put upon us by ourselves, our religion and our culture. Still staying true to the concepts that fostered her, Naked Feet uses clown, physical theatre, voice and heart to tell her stories.

ABOUT "MISTAKES WERE MADE"

Featuring Barrymore Award winner Scott Greer in the lead role, Mistakes Were Made is a fantastic comedy romp through language and logistics. Felix Artifex is a Broadway producer with one last shot at making his mark in the world of theatre. After years of selling mediocre, big money projects, Felix makes the dangerous move of backing a new, original work and takes on the challenge of abandoning schlock for art—in a single afternoon. With his phone, his secretary, and his over-fed coy fish companion, Felix does what he does best: pushing, cajoling, sweet talking, and threatening everyone brave enough to take his calls. Changing his demeanor, or his story, depending on who is on the other end of the line, Felix moves at break-neck speed to make the art that will, in turn, make his career. On taking on the role of Felix Artifex, Scott Greer says, “It is a rare treat to work on a play in which the ideas and characters are as sharp as the dialogue. Craig Wright's stuff just crackles. Felix in Mistakes Were Made is desperate, funny, loathsome, and a weird kind of mensch, all at the same time. It'll be a ride, for sure."

INCENDIARY HILARITY ALERT! A Greek chorus of Keystone Kops guides us through Frisch’s 1958 absurdist classic, where sparks fly as an unemployed circus wrestler and his pyromaniacal partner pervade the life of a morally bereft hair rejuvenator magnate. “Well, who you gonna believe, me or your own eyes?” –Chico Marx.
