The reason for This PodGuide is mainly to let the NeatLittleMacApps listeners in on what exactly I'm doing since I'm forsaken to create their weekly NLMA podcast episode. You might have figured out by simply reading the title of this PodGuide that I'm building a house. Well, not me actually, I just help out, and let the true construction people make the big decisions.

Anyway, I wanted to let you all in into the big adventure of home construction, and yes, I do tend to brag about just how beautiful we think our new home is (will be).

      <itunes:summary>01 Intro: 00:00
Welcome to another podguide from podguides.net. This podguide will take you on a walk trough the magnificent dune landscape between Wenduine and De Haan. This walk is suitable for families who have to drag a buggy along. The descriptions are in such a way that there is no need to follow the tour in correct order. If you like our podguides, feel free to make one yourself. go to www.podguides.net and see how easy it is. You can submit your own podguides once it's finished. You can support our podcast by subscribing to it via iTunes or to cast a vote at podcastalley.com. Now on with the tour.

02 The rotonde in Wenduine 00:00:45
This rotonde in Wenduine offers both a great view of the sea as a cool play area for children with go-carts. If you like, you can take a dip in the nearby swimming pool. At high tide, this is also a favorite place for fishing...

03 The Spioenkop 00:01:59
This large dune can be climbed via a small concrete path that starts away on the opposite site of the sea. At the top of the dune at an altitude of 31 meters there's the 'Spioenkop'. This natural lookout post was used during austrian occupation from 1771 until 1778. Later in 1795 the French put a signalling mast here...

04 The Hubertmolen 00:03:19
the mill you see here is called the 'Hubertmolen' basically Hubert's Mill. It dates back to 1880 and it was built by Miller Jan Hubert. It has been active until 1934. During German occupation it's 'wings' were ordered to be removed. after the war it was repaired and it's now a classified monument.

05 The entrance/exit to the Duinbossen 00:03:48
The natural area were you are about to enter now is called the Duinbossen. litteral translation: The Dune forests. This domain is about 150 hectares, about 0,6 square miles. After the long dry season in 1921, there was only 8 hectare forest here, which wasn't enough to stop the sanding of the furtile lands behind the dunes. Therefor this forest was planted to protect the area inland. The main limitating factor for growth here is the wind, since it brings along sand and salt...

07 The 'Zandpan' 00:05:04
You've probably noticed that the track is slightly elevated from the rest of the surroundings. This used to be a dam to keep in the irrigation water with organic firtilizer. If you're standing faced to Wenduine, and you look to the right of the track, you can see the 'Zandpanne'...

08 Military Domain 00:05:45
The fenced domain is a military domain and thus not accessible for public. It's a Nato-radiocentre, it's purpose to track shipmovement in the North Sea. Enjoy watching the beautiful conifers that surround the domain.

09 Valentin Vaerwyck 00:06:03
In this street (the Rembrandtlane) hold your horses at numbers 10 to 19. These villa's were designed by Valentin Vaerwyck between 1925 and 1927. They are characterized by their long lowreaching roof, small windows and large chimneys. They all carry a name that is depicted in basrelief. Ther's 'Little red ridinghood', 'Mermaid', 'Calm haven', Sundial...

10 The tram station in De Haan 00:06:36
This little tram station was build in 1902 to replace an even older one. This remarkable builing has decorative elements in the 'Art Nouveau'-style.

11 De Haan Centre 00:06:49
De Haan (litterally: The Rooster) is a small but beautiful beach resort. Unlike the rest of the belgian coast, there are no apartment blocks here. It's like a return to the 'Belle Epoque' of the turn of the century...</itunes:summary>
