It’s sounds a mix of dance music and Rock along with elements of house that inspires futurism. One can surely expect much of this band in the future, especially when taking into account the explanation of their bandname: Composed of the words “sakana” (the Japanese word for “fish”) and “action”, the band wants so act quickly and lightly, like fishes in the water, without fearing changes in the music scene.

Sakanaction’s tune “Sen to Ray” grabbed No.1 position at Japanese Radio Airplay Chart. the album “Shinshiro” including “Sen to Ray” marked No.8 at National CD Sales Ranking and got to be No.1 at iTunes music store Japan!! On YouTube, “Native Dancer” music video (Nike Shoes Dancing) from the album “Shinshiro” has been played over 360,000 times and be already popular worldwide.

[Sakanaction profile]

Sakanaction – Rising Sun Band from Far East country is New Rising-up Unique JPOP Band with Techno Electronica taste and Rock’n Roll. It’s sounds Electrol Rock that inspires futurism. One can surely expect much of this band in the future, especially when taking into account the explanation of their bandname: Composed of the words “sakana” (the Japanese word for “fish”) and “action”, the band wants so act quickly and lightly, like fishes in the water, without fearing changes in the music scene.

Sakanaction was formed in 2005, when Ichiro Yamaguchi (Vocal & Guitar) and Motoharu Iwadera (Guitar) started performing at various venues in and around Sapporo Hokkaido. In 2006 Ami Kusakari (Bass), Emi Okazaki(Keyboard) and Keiichi Ejima (Drums) joined the lineup and with that the band also caught more attention in the industry. Already in August they performed at the RISING SUN ROCK FESTIVAL 2006 in EZO which is the biggest festival in Hokkaido. Triggered by this show, their music began to attract more and more fans. As a result of this, their self-recorded song “Mikazuki Sunset” hit the local college charts and “Shiranami Topwater” began to get frequent radio air-play. In addition to that, CD stores received numerous inquiries from fans who wanted to buy Sakanaction’s CDs.

In May 2007 the band finally released their first full album called GO TO THE FUTURE, followed by a second album in 2008, titled NIGHT FISHING which was promoted with the “NIGHT FISHING IS GOOD” Tour in Sapporo. However, being a band that is not very fond of resting much, they also played at eight festivals in that summer. The end of this exciting year was then celebrated with the release of a small remix album and their first maxi single Sentorei.

Already in January 2009 their third album Shinshiro was released. The following “SAKANAQUARIUM 2009″ Tour with 13 concerts in 12 cities was completely sold out, clearly showing the success this young band is having.

Seiji Toda – Production/Composition/Arrangements
http://www.myspace.com/todaseiji

Seiji Toda needs to be mentioned as the artist who has been continuously sensitive to the evolution of music and culture. The word modernist applies to him in that he has deep knowledge of technology and he manages his advanced music production accordingly. At the same time he also has an excellent ear for melody, while his tunes always contain a particular quality of lyricism. This hybrid of two diverse angles – futuristic sense and humanity – charms his listeners because it is so contemporary.
