henrytennis is another progressive band in Tokyo music scene, that was formed in about 2003. relesed their 1st album “Eight Rare Cases” in 2006 and had several gigs in New York in November, 2006.

henrytennis features instrumental dynamism influenced by post rock, IDM, jam, and progressive rock. Their members come from such japanese outstanding bands as 4 Bonjour’s Parties, Hula Hooper, KuruuCrew, Oceanlane, Tokumaru Shugo crew.

Anyway their excellent second album titled R.U.R. is given a November 11th release by CINRA RECORDS.

Some artists are authentic masters of human emotion. They are able to tug at the heart, weaken the knees, and bring out the tears of even the most emotionally impassive individuals. Katsuhiko Maeda is one of the most accurate contemporary examples of a musician who excels in this craft. With a fanbase that stretches from his native Japan to the United States, his primary project, World’s End Girlfriend, has pleased the masses for seven years with its incorporation of orchestral post-rock and experimental electronica.

Nearly a household name in Japan with his multi-instrumental prowess, Maeda is hardly the embodiment of a conventional songwriter. His incorporation of classical music, avant-garde production, and tumultuously layered samples is hardly the norm for an internationally reputable musician.

Miaou were formed in 1999 by Tatsuki Hamasaki and sisters Mayumi and Hiromi Hasegawa. Their debut album, Happiness (Noon records, 2003), was quickly followed by a tour with Australia’s Art Of Fighting. That same year saw a tour with Canada’s Below The Sea, with whom the band also collaborated with to record a split e.p., released on Preco Records, the label of Tokyo music store LINUS RECORDS. 2006 proved to be another busy and exciting year. Things started off with the inclusion of Grasslands on the Where Are My Records compilation c.d., Je T’aime, before the band headed into the studio to record probably their most distinctive, beautiful and accomplished material to date with the painted e.p. (Thomason Sounds). The e.p. was once again recorded by toe’s Takaaki Mino, who has produced all of their material to date.

Sakanaction – Rising Sun Band from Far East country is New Rising-up Unique JPOP Band with Techno Electronica taste and Rock’n Roll. It’s sounds Electrol Rock that inspires futurism. One can surely expect much of this band in the future, especially when taking into account the explanation of their bandname: Composed of the words “sakana” (the Japanese word for “fish”) and “action”, the band wants so act quickly and lightly, like fishes in the water, without fearing changes in the music scene.

Sakanaction was formed in 2005, when Ichiro Yamaguchi (Vocal & Guitar) and Motoharu Iwadera (Guitar) started performing at various venues in and around Sapporo Hokkaido. In 2006 Ami Kusakari (Bass), Emi Okazaki(Keyboard) and Keiichi Ejima (Drums) joined the lineup and with that the band also caught more attention in the industry. Already in August they performed at the RISING SUN ROCK FESTIVAL 2006 in EZO which is the biggest festival in Hokkaido. Triggered by this show, their music began to attract more and more fans. As a result of this, their self-recorded song “Mikazuki Sunset” hit the local college charts and “Shiranami Topwater” began to get frequent radio air-play. In addition to that, CD stores received numerous inquiries from fans who wanted to buy Sakanaction’s CDs.

In May 2007 the band finally released their first full album called GO TO THE FUTURE, followed by a second album in 2008, titled NIGHT FISHING which was promoted with the “NIGHT FISHING IS GOOD” Tour in Sapporo. However, being a band that is not very fond of resting much, they also played at eight festivals in that summer. The end of this exciting year was then celebrated with the release of a small remix album and their first maxi single Sentorei.

Already in January 2009 their third album Shinshiro was released. The following “SAKANAQUARIUM 2009″ Tour with 13 concerts in 12 cities was completely sold out, clearly showing the success this young band is having.
