Boris are a Japanese experimental trio, known for their genre-hopping in between and on records. As of 2008, personnel are drummer Atsuo, bassist/guitarist/vocalist Takeshi, and guitarist Wata. Japanese cult favorite sludge/doom rock trio Boris takes their name from a song on grunge godfathers the Melvins’ Bullhead album. They also have a lot in common with the Melvins musically, including a fondness for heavily down-tuned guitar/bass tones and exceedingly slow tempos. But they also incorporate elements variously drawn from other sources, including psychedelic rock, punk, noise, minimalism, pure sludge-drone music à la Earth, and more.

Kazumasa Hashimoto (1974 in Tokyo, Japan) is a Japanese composer, mastering engineer and web designer.

As a child, Hashimoto learned classical piano, starting to compose in high school while making music on his computer. He majored in composition at Tokyo College of Music. His minimalistic music is a rich blend of electronic textures and acoustic instruments such as cello, violin and clarinet. Hashimoto makes extensive use of the piano, as well as nonsense, collage-like lyrics constructed from digitally edited voice samples.

As a pianist he has collaborated with Japanese electronica artist World’s End Girlfriend, world music artist Souichiro Suzuki, and singer Yukawa Shione. In 2005 he was featured on Childish Music, an anthology of music compiled by Ekkehard Ehlers in “an attempt to define a new genre” of “naive sounds”. In 2008, Hashimoto scored the critically-aclaimed film, Tokyo Sonata.

2005 Ishihara invited his friends who love music or recording to
have a recording camp in Nagano. 2006 The recordings during a
three day meeting were put together into the album »Do« and
pressed into 100 copies under the moniker of Ongakushitsu (means
»music room«). 2008 They changed the name to Table Music
Meeting. »Clockwork Lamp EP« was released by MiMi Records,
Portugal. 2009 Wild Flower Way / Echo Holiday EP was released
by MiMi Records. The 1st album »Hibi« was released on their
own label Easel Records in October.

The line-up consists of Naho Aoki, Toshiyuki Ishihara, Maki
Ishihara, Tohl Kurihara. They are changeable about what instruments
they play. They gather several times a year each bringing
their own ideas, plays and records, focusing on the atmosphere
and their inspirations at the moment.

mika and bob met and started as a duo in spring of 2007. using a combination of songs composed individually and cooperatively they played a number of acoustic sets at picnics, art installations and clubs. Upon hearing band friend, Ryu’s attempt at an english description of his karaoke performance of a certain Who song, the band name ice cream shout was born.

early in 2008 mika and bob, eschewing the typical remix, contributed a cover version of the Sound of Arrows’ Danger to their Labrador Records debut single. soon after, friends fumi and jun joined the band transforming the once duo into a full-on band, and their previously twee sound into a broader, more dynamic pop sound. the recent addition of chris on guitar further increased the bands live presence.

In early spring of 2009 the band released their first self-titled album. Then made a cover on Sweden’s pop star Name The Pet’s song ” London” and it is included in her album on iTunes store as a bonus track. Mika was interviewed by “P3 POP”, a pop music program on the Swedish national radio. Jun left the band for US in the winter and now we are a four piece band now and have regular live shows mostly in Osaka.
