Pod Stallions 127: Badder than old King King

There are Giants, and there are behemoths and monsters galore, but there’s only ONE King Kong. Well, technically, there’s one that’s been done and recycled in various ways, and as episode one for October ‘25 we celebrate the biggest ape of all.

A misunderstood creature who basically likes the ladies and wants to be left alone, Kong has loomed large since first leaving Skull Island in 1933, and we cover all the sequels, remakes, Kaiju and cartoon versions in the newest Pod Stallions.

Pod Stallions 126: Who Mourns for Doctor Who? We know what you’re thinking. With a headline like that we’re bound to be Who-bashing all episode, right? (You might also be thinking, ‘bout time they showed up!). Au contrair, my friends. Doctor Who is one of the many things that brought us together as friends, and is something we love deeply. With recent news reports and all the online chatter about the current state of New Who (still considered ‘new’ after a 20-year return!) and its possible exit, it felt like a good time and good subject to explore on our return from hiatus.

So close the door, hit the Tardis controls from ‘Way Back’ to ‘Present Day’ and prepare to walk in eternity as we give our two pence on all that’s gone down and up with everyone’s favourite Time Lord.

Just remember to reverse the polarity of the neutron flow before you leave.....

These are just a handful of the many gifts Canada has given the world. And dang it, they know a thing or two about makin’ movies, too. It’s high time PS celebrated them in an episode, especially since one 1/2 of us claim to be Canadian! (Note: the jury is still oot). And who better to help than our monstrously cool pal Matt Weinhold, Actor/comedian/cinephile/Monster Party Co-host and all-around good egg? The Elephant Man, Frank Booth, Agent Cooper and Bob, Sailor and Lula and the big sweaty Baron with bad skin. Just some of the denizens in the film world of David Lynch. It’s safe to say the works of Lynch weren’t everyone’s cup of coffee.

And that’s as it should be, with most left of center output. But his impact can’t be denied, and as weirdos and movie freaks ourselves, it seemed appropriate to celebrate the late auteur. (Plus the man himself is someone we’d happily spend time with).

But don’t think this is the snooty, art-house ep of PS; we still manage to get Richard Lynch and 80s underwater monster flicks in, too. The owls are not what they seem, but this is a damn fine cup of Pod Stallions. Drink full and descend!
