Podtoid-san 67: "I am the Bat" edition

So I'm sure I had plenty of other things I wanted to talk about... but then I watched Batman. Sweet symphonies from serendipitous sirens have descended upon me, so now we're gonna talk about Gotham Knight. For those unaware, Gotham Knights is a series for animated shorts inspired by Batman. Much like The Animatrix, Gotham Knights was produced in conjunction with well known Japanese animation studios like Madhouse and Production I.G. The beginnings of commentary can be found on the recent Spoiler-san post. Of course we'll bring up things Like how Viz and FUNimation are throwing themselves on the Itunes and PSN, but hopefully we'll get off topic and talk about The Dark Knight.

Oh, and we'll be pooling the questions that didn't make it onto the show last time, because of course... they were awe inspiring. Try to top those with this weeks questions. I'll give extra credit to anyone who askes "Who watches the Watchmen?"

Podtoid-san 66(6): A hint of Satan edition

Next time you want to learn about the weather, talk to a cricket. According to scientists you can figure out the current temperature by counting the number of chirps for 15 seconds and add 40 to that number. But what crickets can’t do is predict what the future holds for us in 12 years. What can predict this are the guardians of otakudom who exists in the hallowed area known as Podtoid-san. In this episode we use our powers to explain to you what to expect 12 years from now in the world of anime and manga; so get a pen and a piece of paper ready because we are about to blow your mind.

There are a lot of reader questions this time and we do our best to answer them all. Also, we talk about why Revy would loose to Major Kusanagi in a fight, but though really should win because she’s super hot. Take some time off and bring some Podtoid-san in your life; now!

Podtoid-san 66(6): A hint of Satan edition

Okay, before we're the center of some campaign linking Spike Spigal to Satanism, it was just a title. I expect there to be very little Satan in this recording. Its just a title... and after 65 other titles, its gotten harder to think of ones. Come on, you would have done the same thing if you were me. The real Podtoid-san 666 is twelve and a half years away (give or take some off time), but that doesn't mean we should waste away. Twelve years from now Japan could be beaming anime into our foreheads. Hmm... I wonder if the Evangelion franchise will be over in 12 years. How about the Berserk manga? One Piece?

This week, leave your questions, comments, and hopes for the next twelve years. We'll get to them all, because, seriously, we've got time.

Podtoid-san 65: The one from Anime Expo 2008

Here's another "live" Podtoid-san, this time from Anime Expo 2008. Looking back at last weekend, I don't know we found the time to actually record this! It was pretty late at night when we finally got to this recording. If you listen closely, you'll hear I was eating dinner throughout the recording. Forgive my manners!

Podtoid-san 64: Not quite as cool as Mario 64, but still fun edition

Mario 64 is one of those games that belongs in a museum. It was the first of its kind, and was the foundation behind a genre. Podtoid-san 64 might not be as cool as Mario 64, but belongs in a museum as well. Of course Podtoid-san would be in the Japanator wing, alongside stuffed reproductions of myself and John Martone. However, I got a funny feeling the food court in this wonderful museum would suck though. We can’t win them all.

This week we have Scott from Anime Almanac on the show, though you might know him by his Native American name, Hates Fansubs Running Wolf. We discuss in full the destruction of PIQ and why its sad to kick a jumping dog. Why a certain panel that took place in Anime Next will invoke such strong emotions from those who participated in it. Finally, we talk about why ADV is selling office supplies now, and wonder if they will be the next Office Max. That and so much more, check us out now before we are in a museum.

Podtoid-san 63: I'm In Ur AnimeNEXT, Blogging Your Panels edition

Gia and I had a fantastic time at AnimeNEXT, let me tell you. The only thing that marred the whole time was John, who refused to do Podtoid-san, leaving it up to Gia and me to record the show. Of course, we were lacking microphones and guests, so that made it a bit harder. Thankfully, Gia's PMP has a voice recorder built into it, and so she recorded the entire show, and even edited it for us. Gia's so nice.

Of course, we weren't using the high-tech recording studio that we normally have for Podtoid-san, and Gia isn't a professional audio editor, so bear with us this episode. Once again, I'd like to thank Scott and Trisha for coming onto Podtoid-san -- we really appreciate having you two! Also, be sure to check out the AnimeNEXT forums if you're interested in the con.

There'll be fun abounding this week as we as chip in to get buy furniture from ADV. The real question seems to be if we should sit on it, or just keep them for commererative value. I could see myself quartering off a table just to tell guests that "this is where Gurren Lagann could have been produced." Fans of Minaidehazukashii will be pleased to know that JP Meyer will be joing us this week. Anyone unfamilar with the blog should go check it out, or be totally lazy and just wait till we tell you all about it on the show. While both are options, only one of them is correct.
