Hi, today is the last Halloween countdown day and I think it was quite fun to write so many Halloween poems, Halloween rhymes, Halloween poetry, riddles and limericks. Halloween Poetry!
Today’s funny Halloween poetry is another Halloween ghost poem. Dead Ghost is again a limerick or rhyming poetry for Halloween. Poetry is sometimes very funny – at least I had a lot of fun recording it. When you listen to the poem you will see/hear. Sometimes it isn’t very easy to concentrate….. I think Halloween can be very funny and spooky for kids. I hope you’ll have a lot of fun too, Milou

Halloween Stories

At School on a Halloween Night by Milou

It now had grown dark at Gembery School
And poor, lonely Jason now felt like a fool

He’d spent all afternoon reading his book
But he never realized that they’d kidnapped the cook
Detectives and cops checked all around
They search in all corners but nothing was found
Not even poor Jason was seen where he was
Nor had our Jason cared ‘bout this fuzz

By now it was midnight, on Halloween Night!
Jason was whimpering, and dying of fright
Suddenly he heard a noise which came from down the hall
Then Jason saw a bloody sign painted on the wall,
“You shall die human child, for now you’re in our home,”
“And none of your behavior will we ghosts condone,”
“For every failure that you make, you crawl towards your doom,”
“But don’t worry young human, we’ve got plenty of room.”

Jason ran as fast as he could and broke through all locked doors
If he’d been competing in a race, he’d have gotten the highest scores
When finally he reached his home he did nothing but go to bed
That next morning his mother found her son completely dead

Jason sat straight up in bed and let out a terrific scream
But then he realized it all had been a very terrible dream

Halloween Mystery Poem by Milou

No sun, no light, not even a spark
The whole world is completely dark
The clock strikes twelve, you hear it chime
Not one single person is awake at this time

No other color than black is to see
You notice a monster, during the day it’s a tree
Though there’s no wind, you can smell the crisp air
The shapes you see, are the creeps of your nightmare

No sun, no lamp, not a single light
So dark, so black, in the middle of the night

By the way….smoking is very unhealthy – you see

Information about my audio files!!! We just found out that all my audio files were not working for some time. I am linking the files to another server. ALL my sound files are on a Bluehost server and it broke down. They just fixed the problem – so sorry for the inconveniences!

Haunted stories and tales. Scary ghost stories and spooky creepy witches. Halloween horror, mysterious screaming and evil laugh. Campfire stories of ghosts and haunted houses. Evil bloody supernatural things. Spooky skeletons, feared werewolves and vampires. Just imagine what a dangerous world is out there….. The Haunted Graveyard by Milou

It was a black and gloomy night
And not a star was in sight
The moon shone brightly in the sky
When suddenly I hear a cry

I run past the gravestones covered in moss
This graveyard was haunted, the shriek meant a loss
I needed to save whoever screamed
Since there’s a ghost that eats brains, so it seemed
I kept on running ‘til I’d seen the case
My scared friend Patrick had tripped on his lace

Halloween pumpkin

Today you can read and listen to one of my Halloween limericks. I will post a couple of limericks the next days. What is limerick poetry? A limerick is a five line poem with a strict form (AABBA), which intends to be witty or humorous! Limericks have been around since the 18th century. Read some examples of limerick poetry in my post which explains how to write limericks. St. Patrick’s Day is often associated with limerick poetry popularized in English by Edward Lear (1812 – 1888). Limerick Day is celebrated on his birthday, May 12. You can download a free E-book of Edward Lear – find a download link and resources at the end of this posting.

Limericks Edward Lear

A Limerick is a five line poem that follows a specific rhyming pattern and rhythm (AABBA). Limericks are often “funny” and easy to write for children. Limericks, otherwise known as poetry for the common man are filled with humor and rhyming and can have a darker sense of humor. • A limerick is a five-line poem written with one triplet and one couplet.
• The triplet is a three-line rhymed poem and the couplet is a two-line rhymed poem
• The rhyme pattern is AABBA with lines 1, 2 and 5 containing 3 beats(accents) and rhyming
• Lines 1, 2 and 5 each consist of 7 to 10 syllables and rhyme
• Lines 3 and 4 having two beats(accents) of rhyming
• Lines 3 and 4 have 5 to 7 syllables each and rhyme with each other
• Important for a “good” limerick is the last line; where the punch line or heart of the joke lies

It is possible to construct a limerick with non matching A or B lines; but it is essential that the overall beat structure remains and that the flow of words allows the lines to be spoken as if they were identical.
