I think we all experience many of the same things in life, but we all have unique ways of expressing them. Poetry is what works for me. Really, poetry is just one human being trying to communicate with another—I observed or experienced something and I want to tell you about it.”

I have a philosophical mind and a poetic heart, am 20 years old and working towards my associate degree in communications. For as long as I can remember I have had an overwhelming passion for writing-and later on-writing poetry, which I started developing a passion for around the age of 13. I have always been very fond of traditional sonnet and rhyme poetry, such as that of Shakespeare, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Sylvia Plath, William Wordsworth, Alexander Pope, along with many others. I love the rawness of the truth these writers seek to speak because it is the same truth I seek in present day humanity.

Read Carly's Poetry --

November 2015;

I Remember Who I Was

Allison Grayhurst

<figure class="

For thirteen years, John taught English and Latin in a private all-girls school, and in 2010 completed his Ph.D., in which he focused on the pragmatic comedy of the Canterbury Tales. Currently, he is an adjunct instructor at Chatham University in Pittsburgh. He has had many jobs in his life, including archaeological field assistant, obituary writer, and television-screen-factory worker. He has had poem published in such journals as Aries, Abbey, The Chaffin Journal, The Journal (UK), Poets' Espresso Review, Pulsar Poetry Review (UK), and in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. His iPhone is now his primary poetry notebook, and he hopes his negotiation with technology in regard to this ancient art form continues to be successful.

Read John's poetry:

October 2015 --

On a Roll

Relief Map

I, Executive

Domestic Differences

Decay Lift

Also by John Zedolik:

EXTINCTION

GHOST OF A THRILL

INTAKERS OUTSIDE

SMALL BLAZE

WITHIN THE SANCTUM

John Zedolik

Bella Braxton

<figure class=""

Although I’ve been actively writing poetry for about 30 years, for much of that time I did not actively seek publication of my work. Recently, however, I was very glad to declare an end to a 20-year hiatus from the practice of submitting my work to journals. Before that long hiatus, some of my poems were published in journals such as Mind Matters Review, Alternative Press Magazine, and Cokefish. In addition to the poems appearing in this publication, two other poems have been recently selected for upcoming issues of Down in the Dirt scheduled for the fall of 2015. Like many poets, I have long found solace and renewal in the natural world; I grew up wandering the beaches of south Florida, spent years wandering the beaches of south Texas, and now enthusiastically wander the lake shores and thick forests of western New York. I am also a published composer of classical music, and have set a variety of poems to music over the years, including my own work and that of my wife, published poet and fiction writer E. R. Flory. In addition to creative work, most months find me also joyously engaged in the endeavors of teaching courses and overseeing the music program at Jamestown Community College.

Read Neil's Poetry:

September 2015 --

Nights

Feather Pinball Puzzle

Saying Nothing

Mythologies

Diane Webster

<figure class="

Diane Webster enjoys the challenge of picturing images into words to fit her poems. If she can envision her poem, she can write what she sees and her readers can visualize her ideas.
Waqas Rabbani: "All our lives are in a constant state of flux, our emotions change from moment to moment, there is true joy and there is true sadness and both extremes exist within each of our souls, sadness is a part of being human, so is happiness yet getting addicted to any particular emotion or wanting to create circumstances for feeling emotions is wrong, let the universe sweep you along and experience existence in every moment, let your emotions flow as swiftly as the universe flows , and live your life to the fullest.."

Read Waqas Rabbani's poetry:

"Burn the Midnight Oil"

Ally Malinenko

<figure class="
