2014 Annual Meeting - Wed. January 22

The Port Orchard Farmers Market Annual Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 22 at 7pm in the upstairs meeting room Saars Market Place. At the meeting new board members will be elected, membership and staff fees set and the 2014 budget approved. Thursday August 16th is our next Membership and Board meeting. The Membership meeting starts at 7pm is open to the public. The Board meeting starts at 6pm and is open to all members. Membership Meeting Thursday April 12

The membership meeting starts at 7pm at Saars Market Place. Membership meetings are open to the public. Members may also attend the board meeting which starts at 6pm.

This will be the last chance to have crafts screened and still be able to participate on opening day. No screenings will take place opening day.

What a beautiful day for the Taste Off!

Our 3rd Annual Great Tomato Taste Off came with sunshine and a bit of wind. This year’s judges were Mayor Lary Coppola; John Strasinger, Owner of Bay Street Bistro; and Mary-Cathern Edwards, President of Kitsap Master Gardner Foundation. The judges enjoyed samples of 39 tomatoes.

The winner as determined by appearance, taste and texture are:

Our next membership meeting this Thursday, August 11th starting at 7:00pm at Saars Market Place, 1415 Olney St SE in Port Orchard (the shopping center just off Mile Hill Drive). We meet in the upstairs conference room - when you enter Saars go to the right and look for the staircase. The room is up the stairs and to the right. Meetings are open to everyone, but only members have voting rights. Members are also encouraged to attend the board meeting which starts at 6:15.

Washington Old Time Fiddlers will be playing this Saturday at the market! The Washington Old Time Fiddlers Association (WOTFA) is a non-profit organization formed in 1965 to preserve and promote old time fiddling and related arts. We are excited to have them at market this year.

Davis Farms will be back at the market this week! We also have many new craft vendors. Come visit and see what is new.

The Port Orchard Farmers Market accepts EBT (Food Stamp) and many of our farmers accept WIC.
