A leaked version of the ceasefire extension (memorandum of understanding) was published by Saudi Arabian media, and if this is what the Trump administration agreed to, it is a total defeat for the United States.

Let’s begin with money. The Iranian regime, which Trump failed to change, is about to get a lot of it.

Here are points 6 and 7 of the memorandum of understanding:

6. The United States undertakes, together with its regional partners, to create a comprehensive plan agreed upon by both parties for the rehabilitation and economic development of the Islamic Republic of Iran, While ensuring financing of at least $300 billion. The implementation mechanism of this plan, as part of the final agreement, will be formulated within 60 days.

7. The United States commits to ending, on a schedule to be agreed upon as part of the final agreement, all types of sanctions currently facing the Islamic Republic of Iran, including resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and all unilateral U.S. sanctions, both primary and secondary.

Iran gets $300 billion, and the lifting of sanctions. That’s really bad, but Trump wasn’t done giving away cash.

An example of the sort of person that Trump wanted overseeing federal law enforcement is Kash Patel. The current FBI Director has been accused of excessive drinking, abuse of government travel, and he was seen partying with the men’s hockey team at the Winter Olympics on the taxpayers’ dime.

According to House Judiciary Democrats, Patel has also been operating a slush fund with taxpayer money that rewarded MAGA loyalists within the FBI.

Judiciary Democrats have uncovered that FBI Director Kash Patel directed over $1 MILLION in unlawful taxpayer-funded bonuses to a small group of MAGA agents and members of Patel’s personal security detail.

The myths that Trump created caused his support to grow even more with rural America by 2024, to the point that he was able to expand his margin of victory with these voters to 40 points over then-VP Kamala Harris.

Many of these people didn’t seem to know what they were voting for. Trump kept talking about tariffs and mass deportations during the campaign. Republicans even held up mass deportation signs and Republican National Convention, so these folks can’t say they weren’t warned.

There were plenty of signals about what was coming. It is their fault if they chose not to see.

With the economic pressure growing on an economically depressed population, it was only a matter of time until the dam broke, and it finally has.

Donald Trump has always inflated tentative agreements to deal status only for the American people to find out later that the deal doesn’t exist.

What has been negotiated with the Iranians is a memorandum of understanding that sets the terms for future negotiations.

There is no final deal.

The Trump administration will not release the text of the memorandum of understanding because, from initial reports, the Trump administration is giving Iran billions of dollars in exchange for the Iranians allowing Trump to surrender in a war that he started.

Vice President JD Vance was on CNBC’s Squawk Box, where he all but admitted that there is no final deal.

Vance said:

Well, I think the best outcome is a good deal for the American people, which we have. Fundamentally, we're dealing with everybody in the Iranian system. You know, there's the IRGC, the sort of regime hard liners, the military side, there's the political leadership, and within the political leadership you have people who are more hard line and less hard line. We expect to have a full spectrum of representatives at the negotiation on Friday. Again, we've been talking to these people, sometimes indirectly, but sometimes directly, and that's what's fundamentally changed under the President's leadership. We are now speaking directly to the Iranian system. We have some good relationships there. So, this is going to be a successful negotiation, because we're not passing messages through various back channels anymore.

We're actually talking to them. And when you talk to them, you figure out what's real, what's fake, what are they serious about, what are they not serious about. And the thing I would add to that is we fundamentally have all the cards here. We don't have to give the Iranians anything if they don't make the commitments that we want long term on the nuclear program, and even if we just stopped here, what would be true? Their military is destroyed, the Straits of Hormuz are open, their nuclear program has been destroyed, and we have incredible economic leverage over them that we didn't have a year and a half ago. So we've got a lot of leverage here, but we also have the President saying to them, we're extending an open hand.

If you cut through Vance’s propaganda and talking points, the most important thing he said was what he didn’t say. The vice president gave no details, because there is no deal, but Congress wants to see what Trump has agreed to.

The issue was that Hegseth made so many absurd claims that were detached from reality that they could not be ignored.

Despite multiple reports from Pentagon sources, US weapons stocks are dangerously low, and Hegseth testified to Congress that the national weapons stockpile is low; the Secretary of Defense claimed that everything is fine.

Face The Nation host Margaret Brennan asked Hegseth, “ Ukraine's President Zelensky was on this program a few weeks ago. He made a plea, not just for more interceptors, but for the ability to produce them for friendly governments to be able to produce Patriots. Some Republican lawmakers support this idea. Do you?”

Hegseth answered, “ Ukraine's President Zelensky was on this program a few weeks ago. On Friday, as the clock ticked on a court order that Trump’s name had to be removed from the Kennedy Center, the administration appealed to the court that ordered Trump’s name removed from the building for a stay, but the judge denied the stay, writing:

Hundreds of thousands of Americans were watching online streams late into the night as crews covered the lettering on the building with tarps and began their work. At one point, the work was halted due to what the administration told the court was a risk of thunderstorms.

On Saturday, a Kennedy Center official told the court that Trump’s name was gone.

CNN’s Anderson Cooper recently played a slew of Trump’s claims going back months that a deal was close with Iran:

From doing most of his events sitting down to having difficulty when he does move, the president appears to be having some physical issues. A new book by Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan (two Trump-friendly authors) who withheld all of this reporting to make money off a book detailed the extensive cover-up by the Trump administration to bury the Epstein files.

The New York Times Magazine published an excerpt of the book that laid out how all of the top members of the administration colluded together to try to get out in front of the story while also giving Trump what he wanted, which was to bury the Epstein files.

According to the book excerpt:

A report from the Labor Department on Wednesday showed consumer prices in May were up 4.2% from a year ago. That’s the biggest annual increase since April of 2023. By contrast, the Labor Department says average wages have risen only 3.4% over the last year, so workers’ real spending power has declined.

Prices rose 0.5% between April and May, with higher energy costs accounting for more than 60% of that monthly increase.

These are horrible numbers that would have any president scrambling to figure out a solution, but not Donald Trump.

Instead of holding a press conference to assure the American people that he is working on the problem and that, on a more basic level, he understands the problem, Trump did the opposite.

Trump tried to downplay inflation and sell the economic struggles of the American people as a good thing.

It was an insane answer to a question that should have been a moment where any other president would have expressed concern and empathy.

The president was asked, “ Are you concerned, Mr. President, about the latest inflation number which came out this morning? Could that be a detriment-”

Congressional Republicans returned to the Capitol on Monday, and CNN’s Manu Raju has been tracking them down to ask if they have any proof to support Trump’s claim that the primary election in California was rigged.

When Raju asked the Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson said:

I, look, I don’t... Some of these efforts are so diabolical and so far upstream, it is impossible to prove, but I think everybody knows instinctively something is wrong here, and that’s a concern. We need people to believe in the integrity of our election system. It is critical to maintain a constitutional republic. We’re gonna keep working to pass the Save America Act because it requires, as you know, proof of citizenship and a photo ID to vote.

That, those are also 90%-plus issues in public opinion, and 70% of Democrats understand that’s, that’s necessary. We have to have free and fair elections-

Johnson seemed to be claiming that there is no proof that the California primary election was rigged because Democrats in the state are “diabolical.”

It sounds like Republicans are saying that they don’t need proof to claim that an election was rigged.

In case you weren’t clear, House Majority Leader Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) wasn’t as subtle as Johnson.

CNN’s Manu Raju asked Scalise during his weekly press conference, “ The president keeps saying that the California election was rigged. What evidence have you seen to show that there has been widespread fraud that has caused this election to be stolen, according to the president?”

After Trump tried to make a dramatic exit and walk off an interview on Meet The Press, but he struggled to maintain his balance and seemed to limp, the president followed up that concerning display by appearing to fall asleep in the middle of a loud and rowdy Madison Square Garden where the New York Knicks were facing the San Antonio Spurs.

Donald Trump is the definition of a one-trick pony. After Disney made the mistake of paying off the president’s bogus defamation lawsuit against ABC News, and CBS paid off Trump’s bogus lawsuit against 60 Minutes, the president clearly thought that he had found both a new cash cow and a way to intimidate and control the corporate media.

Trump probably thought this gimmick was unstoppable. He was two for two in suing broadcasters, so he accused the BBC of editing some 1/6 footage of him and filed a defamation suit for $10 billion.

There was one big difference between the BBC, CBS, and ABC. Trump has no power over the BBC, and no means of threatening them. It is difficult to execute a shakedown when the intended victim has nothing to fear.

In response to Trump’s lawsuit, the BBC did what lawyers for ABC and CBS advised those networks to do. The BBC didn’t settle. Instead, the case went to discovery, where the BBC served a subpoena related to Trump’s revocable trust, which is run by Donald Trump Jr., and contains information on the family’s assets and business relationships.

This is not a path that Donald Trump and his family want to take, so the tone of the lawsuit has shifted.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) has been referring to Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) as the Deputy Speaker of the House for months. Jeffries has been telling reporters and the American people that Johnson is bowing to Trump. What many people assumed was metaphorical is turning out to be literal.

Trump has joked that he is the Speaker of the House. There have even been rumors that some Republicans wanted Trump to be the Speaker of the House before he returned to the White House.

But it’s not just winning votes. At times, Johnson has handed over other powers that usually rest with the speaker.

According to two sources who spoke with NOTUS, Johnson has in several instances directed members seeking to bring legislation to the floor to obtain the administration’s approval first.

“It is a total shirking of responsibilities to the White House,” another House Republican told NOTUS. “Everything has to be preordained and pre-blessed, and there’s very little that we’re able to have our own will on. We should be empowered to pass our own priorities, not just follow what the mandate of the day is.”

A senior GOP aide pushed back on the idea that relying on the president is a bad thing.

The fact that a senior House Republican aide defended this practice, which is a defense of gutting the Constitution, is a big part of the problem.

When a Democrat can go on Fox News and effectively push back against a network that has become the unofficial television station of the Trump administration, there is value in those appearances, especially since at least 14%-25% of Fox News viewers, whether they are casual or regular viewers, are Democrats. At least 24% of Independents say that they get their news from Fox News.

There is a sizable audience tuning into Fox News who aren’t Republicans and may be open to the Democratic message.

It is also important for Democrats who go on Fox News to tackle the structural bias of the network’s coverage.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) appeared on Fox News’s The Sunday Briefing, and he was asked, “How much are Democrats willing to stomach at the, you know... When they're trying to unseat Republicans in Congress, are, are they willing to let their values go?”

Welker isn’t Fox News. She does push back, but she is never as challenging as she could be. Generally, Welker’s pushback can be described as fact-based but gentle. It is the kind of approach that Trump used to eat up before he slipped into even greater decline.

Trump rarely travels within the United States. Trips like this one to Wisconsin are rare during his second administration. Trump’s travel has increasingly been to his clubs or back to the White House from one of his public clubs.

Since Trump doesn’t have a property in Wisconsin, this trip is unusual for his second administration.

Trump was supposed to be in Wisconsin to talk to farmers about the economy, but instead, the president showed no interest in hearing about how farmers were really doing.

Donald Trump was in Wisconsin to tell farmers who are going bankrupt due to his policies that everything is great.

Trump rambled about the war with Iran:

 One way or the other it's finished. It's either finished with a piece of paper or finished a more difficult way, although you could say a much easier way. Uh, as you know, with Iran, they have no navy. 159 ships in four days. . Four days, 159 ships at the bottom of the sea. Not that we like that, but that's the way it is, and the blockade is unbelievable. There's never been a blockade like that.
