Democrats in Dane County, Wisconsin, are reporting a massive uptick in enthusiasm for Kamala Harris in the state's fastest-growing county.

Democrats in Dane County, Wisconsin, are reporting a massive uptick in enthusiasm for Kamala Harris in the state’s fastest-growing county.

The AP reported:

Dane County, which includes Madison, is the fastest-growing county in the state, fueled by the combination of the University of Wisconsin and the state capital’s workforce.

…

According to interviews with more than a dozen Madison Democrats, Harris’ attention to specific party priorities, in addition to her younger age and livelier style, have helped restore their enthusiasm.

Daniel Zaydman, 24, pointed to Harris’ March public call for a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war, a conflict that has divided the Democratic base. Biden has also pushed for a cease-fire while continuing to back weapons shipments to Israel as it conducts a war in Gaza that has resulted in at least 39,000 Palestinian deaths.

Democrats were exhausted by the idea of having to refight the 2020 election. Republicans weren’t exactly excited about Trump either, but the party out of power is traditionally hungry to get back into power no matter who the nominee is. Democrats needed a jolt of energy and that is what Harris has delivered.

It is important that Harris isn’t saddled with the Gaza political quagmire. Biden has to try to navigate to try to obtain a ceasefire. The President is burdened by being the final voice to work for peace. The Vice President has been able to take a more vocal stance on Gaza in calling for a ceasefire.

Dane County is the Democratic stronghold in Wisconsin, and it is the key to Harris winning the state. An enthused and growing Madison area can allow Democrats to pile up enough votes to win statewide. Biden only won Wisconsin by 21 votes in 2020.

If Harris can do the same, it will mean that she will likely be the next president.

A fired-up Dane County is a great sign for Democratic prospects of keeping Wisconsin blue.

President Biden added to his populist legacy by canceling student loan debt for 30 million more Americans.

President Biden added to his populist legacy by canceling student loan debt for 30 million more Americans.

The President said in a statement:

Today, my Administration took another major step to cancel student debt for approximately 30 million Americans. By providing more information to borrowers on how they can take advantage of our upcoming debt relief programs, borrowers will be prepared to benefit swiftly once the rules are final. Despite attempts led by Republican elected officials to block our efforts, we won’t stop fighting to provide relief to student loan borrowers, fix the broken student loan system, and help borrowers get out from under the burden of student debt.

Today’s announcement comes on top of the significant progress we’ve made for students and borrowers over the past three years. That includes canceling student debt for nearly 5 million Americans so far through various actions; providing the largest increases to the maximum Pell Grant in over a decade; fixing Income-Driven Repayment so borrowers get the relief they are entitled to under the law; and holding colleges accountable for taking advantage of students and families.

From day one of my Administration, I promised to fight to ensure higher education is a ticket to the middle class, not a barrier to opportunity. I will never stop working to make higher education affordable and to make sure our Administration delivers for the American people.

So far, the idea of President Biden focusing on governing and pushing the Democratic agenda over the finish line as much as possible before the election while Vice President Harris campaigns and attempts to take the baton is working out well for Democrats.

Joe Biden has been one of America’s most populist and progressive modern presidents. Biden understands the burden that the student debt system has piled on tens of millions of Americans and is doing everything within his constitutional powers to help.

Trump has promised to reverse Biden’s actions on student loan debt, which is important for millions of Americans. This isn’t surprising given that the ex-president ran a scam for-profit university.

Biden continues to do the work for the American people and is the kind of president who won’t stop until the last second of the last minute of his term in office has expired.

At one point, Vice President Harris looked directly in the camera, spoke to Donald Trump, and told him to come and say it to her face by showing up for the debate.

Harris said:

So the momentum in this race is shifting and there are signs that Donald Trump is
feeling it. They have noticed. So, last week you may have seen he pulled out of the debate in September, he had previously agreed to.

Oh, so here’s the thing, here’s the funny thing about that. Here’s the funny thing about that. So he won’t debate but he and his running mate sure seem to have a lot to say about me. And by the way, don’t you find some of their stuff to just be plain weird? Well, Donald, I do hope you’ll reconsider to meet me on the debate stage because as the saying goes, if you got something to say, say it to my face.

Video:

Kamala Harris humiliated Trump and made him look like a coward on national television in front of the entire world. Trump is likely to be fuming, because he was called out by a woman with brown skin.

Vice President Harris is right. The momentum has shifted in the election. Donald Trump and his campaign have not been able to find an effective line of attack against presumptive Democratic nominee, and Harris is doing something that the ex-president is definitely not used to. She is taking the fight to him, and demanding that he step up.

Donald Trump is in an election against an opponent who is smarter, younger, and more qualified than him. Trump is so stale he has to recycle his nickname for Harris while his opponent is blowing him out of the water with energy and enthusiasm.

Donald Trump has a big problem as a crowd estimated to be at 10,000 or more has shown up in Atlanta for VP Kamala Harris’s rally.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported:

Harris campaign officials say there’s about 10,000 people in the arena, which would make this the biggest Democrat event for Harris’ bid since she became the party’s presumptive nominee. About 3,000 people attended a Wisconsin rally for Harris last week shortly after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race.

It will be difficult to get an exact head count, but this will be the biggest event that Harris has attended since becoming the presumptive Democratic nominee last week.

Small donors have flooded the campaign with contributions as Harris For President has raised more than $200 million less than a week.

Polling shows that Harris is tied with Trump in Georgia at 47%:

The Harris campaign is warning America that Trump's duck-and-dodge on Project 2025 doesn't change the fact that the agenda is the same.

The Harris campaign is warning America that Trump’s duck-and-dodge on Project 2025 doesn’t change the fact that the agenda is the same.

Harris for President Campaign Manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said in a statement in response to the news that the head of Project 2025 is stepping down:

Project 2025 is on the ballot because Donald Trump is on the ballot. This is his agenda, written by his allies, for Donald Trump to inflict on our country.

Hiding the 920-page blueprint from the American people doesn’t make it less real – in fact, it should make voters more concerned about what else Trump and his allies are hiding.

What remains clear is that Trump, Vance, and the Project 2025 agenda will take America backwards: more abortion bans, more suffering, higher costs for the middle class, cuts to Social Security and Medicare, repeal of the Affordable Care Act, dirtier air and water, and empowering Trump to destroy American democracy.

Vice President Kamala Harris is fighting for a future where every person has the opportunity not just to get by, but to get ahead. Where Americans are free from Republicans inserting themselves into our bedrooms, family rooms, and doctor’s offices.

Vice President Harris has made a career out of exposing liars and frauds like Donald Trump, and stopping dangerous plots like Project 2025 from making people’s lives worse. This election won’t be any different.

Donald Trump thinks that the American people are stupid and that if he makes the public-facing aspects of Project 2025 go away, his political problem will vanish.

The issue is that the policy work for Project 2025 was already done. The project is Trump’s agenda and transition document. Donald Trump has no interest in staffing or policy proposals. He probably hasn’t read a single page of Project 2025.

What makes the document so dangerous is that the ex-president is willing to implement it, no questions asked.

Don’t be fooled. Project 2025 hasn’t gone anywhere. Trump is trying to solve a political problem, but nothing has changed when it comes to the extremist Republican agenda.

A new poll of Pennsylvania by Susquehanna Polling and Research has found that Vice President Kamala Harris now leads ex-president Donald Trump by four points in Pennsylvania.

Here is the topline result, which is within the poll’s four-point margin of error:

BREAKING NEWS: SP&R today releases its latest Pa poll in the race for POTUS. It shows Harris w/ narrow 4-point lead within the poll’s +/-4.0% MOE. Field Dates 7/22-7/28; sample size 600 LV. pic.twitter.com/Xi6XISxRMO

This is one of the recently more accurate polls in the state of Pennsylvania. They came within a point of the 2020 presidential race in the state, and they were within a point on Josh Shapiro’s win in the governor’s race in 2022. They did miss the Fetterman Senate race, where they had Oz with a one-point lead, but that was a race where almost all of the Pennsylvania polls underestimated the support for John Fetterman.

Looking beyond the numbers, the latest Pennsylvania poll is in line with other polling that shows a 3-5 point movement toward Harris compared to the final Trump/Biden numbers.

The election has shifted, and the movement is Democrats and Independents who were concerned about Joe Biden moving firmly into the Harris camp.

VP Harris has not chosen her running mate yet, and if she picks Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, her polling in the Keystone State will go even higher.

The only thing that is certain is that the result will be close in Pennsylvania.

Vice President Kamala Harris will reportedly be campaigning in swing states next week with her chosen running mate.

Reuters reported:

Vice President Kamala Harris will tour battleground states next week with her vice presidential candidate, two sources familiar with the planning said on Tuesday, a signal the selection process for her running mate is coming to a close.

…

Harris will announce her vice presidential pick before next week’s tour of states that could swing to Republicans or Democrats in November, one of the sources said.

The way Harris is doing her running mate roll out is the opposite of Donald Trump who waited until the Republican convention, because he thought that he was building anticipation, drama, and hype that would lead to more free media for his campaign, and bigger television ratings for the Republican convention.

None of those things happened.

Instead, a gunman shot at Trump, his VP pick hit the news cycle like a leaky balloon, and the debut fell flat.

VP Harris is doing her pick and roll out the more traditional way. She is going to get a week of bounce and coverage if she names her running mate by Monday. If her running mate is national fresh face with some energy, think Josh Shapiro, the Democratic ticket could ride that wave into their convention, which right now has the feel of a rocking happy party that should play well to the nation.

The Kamala Harris running mate pick is coming, and with it will be the next headache for Trump and the Republican Party.

Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA) called Vice President Kamala Harris a ding dong, but he looked like the ding dong as he imploded on the air.

Kennedy said to Fox News host Neal Cavuto, “I don’t care about her gender. Neal, maybe you do, but I don’t. I don’t care about her race. I care about her competence. Then why call her a ding don.

Cavuto asked, “Then why call her ding dong?”

Kennedy continued, “And I’m telling you what the polling shows. I’m telling you what the polling shows and it does, and I’ll be glad to sit down with you and walk you through the polls.”

Cavuto replied, “Yeah please do. Because I never know when it’s constructive to call people names.”

Kennedy then attacked Cavuto, “But I’m sorry. I’m sorry if that hurts your feelings, but. But let me say it again.”

Cavuto said, “Senator, you keep bringing it back to my feelings. My feelings matter little. All I’m telling you is if you think you can gain this November calling people names I don’t know how far that goes, left or right. But we’ll see. It’s still early to your point.”

Kennedy now was after Cavuto, “Your feelings seem to me like they matter to you a lot, Neal. And I’m trying to be objective here.”

Neal Cavuto ended the interview with, “Let me say it again. Are you really being objective, Senator? I just think you’ve had a bash a thon of name calling at her. If you call that being objective, I don’t know. But Senator, I do want to thank you for coming.”

Video:

Kennedy’s interview on Fox was not helpful at all for the Trump campaign. Might want to reconsider having this guy implode on tv on behalf of your candidacy pic.twitter.com/bGkCbvy9tW

Republicans are trying to attack Harris, and we all know what Kennedy was trying to do. Kennedy was suggesting that Kamala Harris is incompetent because she is not white, and a woman. Kennedy started out trying to smear Harris, but then attack host Neal Cavuto as he suggested that what Kennedy was doing was dumb and would backfire.

Republicans have no clue how to counter Harris, and they can feel the election slipping away from them.
What Sen. Kennedy did was ugly and also a sign of panic, and even Fox News can see that this is a really bad idea.

Under the Biden-Harris Supreme Court reform plan, Justices Thomas, Alito, and Roberts would all be retired as active Supreme Court justices.

Under the Biden Supreme Court term limit proposal, “Congress approved term limits for the Presidency over 75 years ago, and President Biden believes they should do the same for the Supreme Court. The United States is the only major constitutional democracy that gives lifetime seats to its high court Justices. Term limits would help ensure that the Court’s membership changes with some regularity; make timing for Court nominations more predictable and less arbitrary; and reduce the chance that any single Presidency imposes undue influence for generations to come. President Biden supports a system in which the President would appoint a Justice every two years to spend eighteen years in active service on the Supreme Court.”

Presumptive nominee and Vice President Kamala Harris endorsed the reform plan:

In the course of our Nation’s history, trust in the Supreme Court of the United States has been critical to achieving equal justice under law. President Biden and I strongly believe that the American people must have confidence in the Supreme Court. Yet today, there is a clear crisis of confidence facing the Supreme Court as its fairness has been called into question after numerous ethics scandals and decision after decision overturning long-standing precedent.

That is why President Biden and I are calling on Congress to pass important reforms – from imposing term limits for Justices’ active service, to requiring Justices to comply with binding ethics rules just like every other federal judge. And finally, in our democracy, no one should be above the law. So we must also ensure that no former President has immunity for crimes committed while in the White House.

These popular reforms will help to restore confidence in the Court, strengthen our democracy, and ensure no one is above the law.

This plan can’t pass this year, but the point is to show voters what will be done if Democrats win the election. If Democrats keep the Senate, the opponents to getting rid of the filibuster will be gone, so the Senate would not be an obstacle to a Supreme Court reform plan. Democrats in the House are ready to pass the plan. They need a majority, and if Harris is in the White House, she is on board with this reform.

The reform would move Roberts, Alito, and Thomas into executive status, which would make them inactive Supreme Court justices.

Harris would nominate three new justices, and the court would go from a 6-3 conservative majority to a 6-3 liberal majority.

This plan could be a reality by next year, and all it takes is for Democratic voters to show up and vote.

President Biden will announce a bold plan for Supreme Court reform that includes term limits for Supreme Court justices and no immunity for crimes that an ex-president committed while in office.

President Biden will announce a bold plan for Supreme Court reform that includes term limits for Supreme Court justices and no immunity for crimes that an ex-president committed while in office.

What Is In Biden’s Supreme Court Reform Plan?

According to a White House fact sheet provided to PoliticusUSA:

No Immunity for Crimes a Former President Committed in Office: President Biden shares the Founders’ belief that the President’s power is limited—not absolute—and must ultimately reside with the people. He is calling for a constitutional amendment that makes clear no President is above the law or immune from prosecution for crimes committed while in office. This No One Is Above the Law Amendment will state that the Constitution does not confer any immunity from federal criminal indictment, trial, conviction, or sentencing by virtue of previously serving as President.

Term Limits for Supreme Court Justices:Congress approved term limits for the Presidency over 75 years ago, and President Biden believes they should do the same for the Supreme Court. President Biden supports a system in which the President would appoint a Justice every two years to spend eighteen years in active service on the Supreme Court.

Binding Code of Conduct for the Supreme Court: President Biden believes that Congress should pass binding, enforceable conduct and ethics rules that require Justices to disclose gifts, refrain from public political activity, and recuse themselves from cases in which they or their spouses have financial or other conflicts of interest. Supreme Court Justices should not be exempt from the enforceable code of conduct that applies to every other federal judge.

Biden: No One Is Above The Law

The President wrote in an op-ed, “I served as a U.S. senator for 36 years, including as chairman and ranking member of the Judiciary Committee. I have overseen more Supreme Court nominations as senator, vice president and president than anyone living today. I have great respect for our institutions and separation of powers. What is happening now is not normal, and it undermines the public’s confidence in the court’s decisions, including those impacting personal freedoms. We now stand in a breach.”

The plan will not pass before Biden leaves office, but it is an important development because it will be endorsed by VP Harris. If Democrats win the 2024 election, the plan could serve as a blueprint for Supreme Court reform.

President Biden is leaving office in less than six months, but he is continuing to work for the American people. Supreme Court reform is vital to the future of American democracy. No one can ever be above the law in the American system, and Joe Biden is laying out a path for Democrats to follow to make sure that power stays with the people.

Trey Gowdy tried to get JD Vance to apologize for his attack on childless Americans, but instead Trump’s running mate claimed repeatedly to have been taken out of context.

Gowdy asked Vance right off the top, “I’ve heard from many women, most of whom are conservative, and they would very much like to vote for President Trump and you, but Senator, they are disappointed. So nuns and priests aside, do you agree that there are people who very much love this country and are invested in its future? But they also happen to be childless.”

Vance answered by brushing off Gowdy’s question, and then getting to what he really wanted to talk about which was his claim that he was taken out of context, “of course I believe that Trey. And if you look at the full context of what I said, it’s very clear. The Democrats have tried to take this thing out of context and blow it out of proportion, which is what they always do Trey because they don’t have an agenda to run on themselves. And if you look at what the American people are most concerned about Trey, it’s not an out of context quip that I made three years ago.”

Just to make sure that America knew that Vance would not be apologizing, even after Trey Gowdy did everything but cut his mic and dub the words I’m sorry into the interview, Trump’s running mate doubled back later and said:

I do think that being a parent actually has a profound effect on somebody’s perspective, and we should honor and respect that, but there are a whole host of people who don’t have children for a whole host of reasons, and they certainly are great people who can participate fully in the life of this country, and that’s not what I said, Trey.

If you look at what the left has done, they have radically taken this out of context, and in fact, aggressively lied about what I’ve said. What I do think is true, Trey, and this goes to the heart of what I was talking about three years ago in those comments, but it’s going to be something I continue to talk about, is that the left has increasingly become explicitly anti child and anti family.

Trey Gowdy tried numerous times to get JD Vance to apologize for his attack on childless women. Vance claimed he was “taken out of context,” so here is full answer on Fox News. pic.twitter.com/ZomnvaPBFU

Trey Gowdy and Fox News were basically begging Vance to apologize and make this whole thing go away, but Vance is performing for an audience of one, and if he apologized, he would look weak i Trump’s eyes, so the MAGA thing to do is to blame the left and claim to have been taken out of context.

Who cares how many votes it may cost Republicans? Vance knows that he has to look strong to Trump at all times.

The interview was a disaster, just like everything else that JD Vance has touched in this campaign.

Trump made a massive mistake by picking Vance, but since he never admits mistakes, JD Vance is likely here to stay.

Here were some comments from Michigan voters in Macomb County:
TUCHMAN: You are a Republican.

LAURA CHIDSEY, MICHIGAN VOTER: Yes.

TUCHMAN: And in 2020, did you vote for Donald Trump?

CHIDSEY: Yes.

TUCHMAN: 2016 also?

CHIDSEY: Yes.

TUCHMAN: And now this year, had you planned to vote for Donald Trump?

CHIDSEY: Well, I did. Now, table’s my turn.

TUCHMAN: With Kamala Harris?

CHIDSEY: Yes.

TUCHMAN: So you’re not sure?

CHIDSEY: Not sure. So I got to — I got to research a little more.

TUCHMAN: But you like Kamala Harris?

CHIDSEY: Yes, I do.
….

TUCHMAN: Before Kamala Harris got in the race, were you undecided or did you know who you were going to vote for, for president?

JOHN HEBERT, MICHIGAN VOTER: I was definitely leaning towards Trump before she got in.

TUCHMAN: And now, how do you feel now that she’s in?

HEBERT: I’m waffling a little bit.
….
TUCHMAN: You’re an independent. But after the debate, you were considering voting for Donald Trump.

MARK KRUK, MICHIGAN VOTER: Correct. Yep. It just — just the debacle of it, it was a disaster for sure.

TUCHMAN: So now that Kamala Harris is in the race, are you still leaning towards voting for Donald Trump?

KRUK: No. I think I’m going to go Ha — Kamala

The CNN piece also found some people who were committed Trump supporters, and people who were supporters of the Democratic nominee no matter who it was, but a common theme is starting to stand out.

People are really tired of Donald Trump.

They are sick of the scandals, the drama, the lies, the corruption, mostly though, they are just sick of seeing Donald Trump. The guy has never gone away. He is the Republican nominee for a third straight time, and people really seem to want something different.

Kamala Harris is offering them a younger fresher voice that brings smiles and energy to the campaign, and that is resonating with voters. In a state like Michigan where a few thousand votes can separate victory from defeat, these voter defections away from Trump are a big deal, and could make a huge difference in November.

The largest crowd ever seen for a Democratic event showed up to support Kamala Harris in the GOP stronghold of Forsyth County, Georgia.

The largest crowd ever seen for a Democratic event showed up to support Kamala Harris in the GOP stronghold of Forsyth County, Georgia.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported:

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear hopped atop the bed of a Dodge Ram 1500 in Atlanta’s northern suburbs on Sunday and glanced at the crowd of hundreds, some attending their first Democratic event, who had gathered to see him.

…

The campaign deployed him Sunday to Forsyth County, a quintessential Republican stronghold where Democrats have struggled to make inroads. Many locals said they’ve never seen such a crowd at a Democratic event here.

…

It’s a reliably Republican county that no Democratic nominee has carried since Jimmy Carter was in the White House. Biden couldn’t capture a third of the vote here four years ago.

Clip of Beshear:

Trump has seen his percentage of the vote drop in the country from 71% in 2016 to 66% in 2020. Democrats are hoping to hold Trump under 60% in 2024. If Trump would finish under 60% in a Republican stronghold in a state that Biden won by a famously small margin in 2020, it might be enough to help keep Georgia blue for a second straight presidential election cycle.

Democrats use the same strategy in Pennsylvania. Since Trump is almost entirely dependent on rural red counties to win, the goal is to activate every Democratic vote in these areas to prevent Trump from running up an even higher margin of victory.

The Harris momentum is real. People do not want to go back to Donald Trump. The hunger for a new generation of leadership is intense, and it is even showing up in the reddest parts of swing states like Pennsylvania and Georgia.

Harris campaign co-chair Mitch Landrieu called Trump cray-cray and said that the ex-president can barely say anything that makes sense anymore.

Landrieu said on MSNBC’s The Weekend when asked about Kamala Harris allowing cameras into her fundraisers:

The more you see Donald Trump unless you like him. The more you see Kamala Harris the more you like her. Let’s have more of it.

I was watching those clips of president Trump. That is an old, tired, grumpy dude who is just cray-cray. He can’t hardly say anything that makes any sense any more. I think they ought to be concerned about his mental acuity and the choices he has made. Last Sunday all of a sudden when President Biden decided he wasn’t going to run again, the vice president stepped into this race. She roared into it. She took off like a rocket ship. She has a pulse of the nation in her hands.

She raised $200 million. We have 150,000 new volunteers. We had over 2000 events across the country yesterday. She is ready to go. As you know president Trump who was Mr. any time-anyplace has looked on his calendar and realized he had something on that day. He cannot debate her, because he is scared to debate.

The strategy is simple. The Harris campaign is calling out Trump for what he is. Democrats also have a massive advantage in the age discussion now, so they are using it.

The majority of Americans think Trump is an old, weird, crazy extremist, rapist, and felon. Democrats aren’t normalizing Trump. They are not going to treat him like any ex-president. Trump can’t be talked about in normal terms. He is not a normal ex-president or a normal candidate.

Democrats aren’t playing games with Trump as they are calling out his craziness.

Donald Trump was targeting Minnesota as a potential pick up in the presidential election, but Kamala Harris now leads the state 50%-40%.

KSTP reported on their poll:

Riding a wave of mostly positive coverage as the presumptive new presidential nominee for Democrats, Vice President Kamala Harris has a significant lead over former Republican President Donald Trump in Minnesota, 50% to 40%, according to our new KSTP/SurveyUSA poll.

Another four percent prefer another candidate and five percent are undecided. That 10-point lead is four points higher than our last survey of a Trump-Biden match-up conducted before Biden’s disastrous debate performance in late June when Biden had a six-point lead over Trump, 47% to 41%.

…

She leads Trump by 27 points among women, 58% to 31%, seven points higher than Biden last month. Trump leads by seven among men, 49% to 42%, about the same as last month against Biden. Harris leads among independent voters, 40% to 30%, five points higher than Biden.

In a week Trump has gone from trying to expand the electoral map and talking about an Electoral College landslide to seeing Minnesota potentially being put out of reach and hoping that Harris doesn’t do the same thing in Pennsylvania by picking Gov. Josh Shapiro as her running mate.

If Pennsylvania and Minnesota are closed off to Trump, his path to victory would require winning three of Wisconsin, Michigan, Georgia, and Arizona.

Trump just held a rally in Minnesota on Saturday night. The ex-president is trying to find other paths to the presidency. The Trump campaign thought Minnesota could be an option for them, but the elevation of Harris might have closed that door.

Any assassination attempt bump that Trump got is gone, as new polling shows that his approval rating is 36%.

ABC News reported:

Forty-four percent of independents have a favorable view of Harris, up from only 28% a week ago. Her unfavorability rating among independents is now 40%, which is a slight drop from 47% last week.

…
Trump’s favorability rating dropped slightly from 40%, measured in the week following the attempted assassination and the Republican National Convention, to 36% in the most recent poll.Trump’s favorability rating among independents also saw a drop in the last week. Twenty-seven percent of independents have a favorable of Trump, which is down from 35% last week.

Trump’s approval rating to where it has been for much of the last several years. Donald Trump is not a popular candidate, and when voters are given the option of someone they like more, they choose the other option and send Trump’s numbers back toward his baseline approval of around 37%.

The 36% that approve of Trump are his hardcore base of supporters.

In the coming days and weeks pay attention to whether Trump can push his approval rating up closer to 40%. His campaign is more likely going to attempt to lower Kamala Harris’s approval rating, because Trump can’t win a high turnout election against a popular opponent.

Republicans need a low turnout base election for Trump to have a chance.

Trump was shot at, picked his running mate, and held his convention, and he still could not get an approval rating over 50%.

Donald Trump is the least popular major party nominee in modern US political history.

The Harris campaign announced in a memo that the Vice President has raised $200 million in less than a week.

The Harris campaign announced in a memo that the Vice President has raised $200 million in less than a week.

According to a memo provided by the Harris campaign:

Team Harris has raised $200 million since President Biden’s endorsement last Sunday – a record-shattering haul. Of that amount, 66% came from first-time donors, further proof of the tremendous grassroots support for the Vice President.

The enthusiasm for Vice President Harris’ candidacy is uniting and growing our winning coalition – with endorsements from young voters, voters of color, labor, Barack and Michelle Obama, and countless more leaders and advocates. The party is so united behind Vice President Harris’ candidacy that she earned enough delegates to become the presumptive nominee barely 24 hours after announcing her campaign. Just this weekend, dozens of surrogates are joining Team Harris on the campaign trail.

The money is immensely important. Whether people want to admit it or not, campaigns need money to be successful. Donations are also a signal of enthusiasm. New polling released on Sunday showed that Kamala Harris has taken the enthusiasm lead over Trump. Harris voters are more enthused about voting for their candidate than Trump voters are about voting for the ex-president.

The coalition building behind Harris is broad and diverse. The same coalition, but possibly bigger, has powered Democrats to victories and overperformances in every election since 2017. Trump and the Republicans are on the run. Trump is trying to keep a lead in the election while also avoiding debating the Vice President. If the polling continues to shift and the Harris momentum keeps growing, Trump will have no choice but to participate in a debate.

Harris still has to name her running and hold her convention. If the momentum continues, things could get ugly for Trump and the GOP.

Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg went on Fox News Sunday and destroyed Trump and Fox’s attacks on Kamala Harris.

Buttigieg said when asked about the right’s “concerns” about Harris:

The idea that somebody hasn’t been tested or vetted when they have been Vice President Of The United States for nearly four years just doesn’t make any sense. She is in obviously one of the most visible leadership roles in the country and she’s demonstrated both her effectiveness in that job and a vision for the country that Americans agree with. And that’s the real reason I think she’s going to win is that most Americans already agree with her on the issues that they care about the most that affect them the most, whether we’re talking about choice and her stance on defending a woman’s right to choose versus Donald Trump who eliminated the right to choose in this. He sent it back to the States to be fair. Let’s be very clear. He is proud of the fact that he demolished the national right to choose in this country period.
…
There was a national right to choose in this country law of the land for 50 years, which the vast majority of Americans believe was the right thing to do. But Donald Trump made a promise when he was a candidate. One of the few promises he actually kept, by the way, you know, he didn’t keep his promise of 6% economic growth. He didn’t keep his promise to drain the swamp to deal with. Well, but even before the pandemic, even before the pandemic, America went into a manufacturing recession which really hurt places like where I come from in the industrial Midwest. But anyway, my point is my point is he broke his promise for that kind of economic growth. He broke his promise to pass an infrastructure bill, right? He said he would do that, he failed to do it. The Biden-Harris administration got it done.

He even broke his promise to that January 6th mob when he said I will be at your side when you march down to the Capitol. We actually did keep two promises. He kept his promise to destroy the right to choose in this country and he kept his promise on tax cuts for the rich.

Buttigieg went on a Fox News produced program and told America why they should vote for Kamala Harris and why they should not vote for Donald Trump in very clear terms.

There are some people on social media who support a Harris-Buttigieg ticket, but that is very unlikely for the same reason why Buttigieg wasn’t able to take off during the 2020 primary campaign. Pete Buttigieg is popular with Democrats nationally, but he won’t help Harris win a swing state in 2024 the way a Josh Shapiro or Mark Kelly would.

Pete Buttigieg is a very effective messenger to an important subset of voters. Buttigieg reaches Democrats who watch Fox. 2022 ratings data showed 42% of Democrats age 25-54 who consume cable news watch Fox News. Fifty eight percent of younger Independents also watch Fox News during the day. Buttigieg reached all of those voters, and the message he delivered on Fox News Sunday was devastating for Donald Trump.

A new ABC/Ipsos Poll found that more voters are excited about voting for Vice President Kamala Harris than they are voting for ex-president Donald Trump.

ABC News reported:
Harris has an edge over former President Donald Trump when it comes to how much enthusiasm Americans feel for them as nominees. Forty-eight percent of Americans say they would feel enthusiastic if Harris becomes the Democratic nominee. Fewer, 39%, say they are enthusiastic about Trump being the Republican nominee.

Enthusiasm for Harris as the Democratic nominee peaks among Democrats (88%) and Black Americans (70%). Forty-nine percent of independents express enthusiasm for Harris, whereas only 31% of independents are enthusiastic about Trump.

…

There has been an increase in the proportion of Democrats saying they are absolutely certain to vote – going from 70% to 76%. This is now about equal to the 78% of Republicans who say they are certain to vote in the November contest.

The election is swinging away from Donald Trump. There are two factors at play. The increase in Democratic enthusiasm has gotten the Democratic coalition excited and back in the race. On the flip side of the coin, Republican voters showed during their primary that they were never excited about Trump. Many Republicans have consistently expressed the desire in polling for a new nominee and a new generation.

There are Trump forever devotees, and they are the majority of the Republican Party, but there are also a substantial number of Republicans who want a new generation of leadership, and are voting for Trump, but are not excited about it.

The anti-Trump coalition in the United States is bigger than Trump’s MAGA supporters.

Kamala Harris appears to be mobilizing Democrats and Independents. Early voting begins in a little more than 30 days. If Harris keeps this momentum going, she will take control of the election, and be in a position to win.

The enthusiasm in Pennsylvania for Kamala Harris has reportedly reached the rural and very red parts of the state.

Rep. and Democratic nominee for Auditor General, Malcolm Kenyatta posted:

I met a woman yesterday in Clinton county who pulled me in and whispered:

“This is my 1st Dem picnic. I saw you in TV & know I talk to Joe & Kamala.
If Joe can be brave enough to step down, I can step up. Please tell them thank you.”

I’m not crying — you’re crying!

— Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta (@malcolmkenyatta) July 27, 2024

It is important to understand that with presidential margins being so close in Pennsylvania, Democrats campaign in the state’s rural red areas, not to flip them, but to drive Democratic vote totals up by getting Democrats in rural red areas engaged.

Joe Biden won Pennsylvania in 2020 in large part by getting high turn out from Democrats in rural red areas, which held down Trump’s surge in the rural spots where he is most popular. Biden was able to negate Trump’s rural increase in Pennsylvania, which allowed him to win the state off of turnout in the blue parts of PA.

Trump doesn’t have another group of voters in the state. He has to run up the score with rural Republican voters. If Rep. Kenyatta’s account is accurate, and others who are on the tour agreed with him, Donald Trump may have a growing problem in Pennsylvania.

While delivering remarks on Friday night, former president Trump told a Christian group that if they voted in November, they would not have to vote again, the Harris campaign slammed Trump.

While delivering remarks on Friday night, former president Trump told a Christian group that if they voted in November, they would not have to vote again, the Harris campaign slammed Trump.

Trump said, “You have to get out and vote. You won’t have to do it anymore. Four years, it will be fixed, it will be fine. You won’t have to vote anymore.. In four years, you won’t have to vote again.”

The Harris campaign responded via spokesperson James Singer, “When Vice President Harris says this election is about freedom she means it. Our democracy is under assault by criminal Donald Trump: After the last election Trump lost, he sent a mob to overturn the results. This campaign, he has promised violence if he loses, the end of our elections if he wins, and the termination of the Constitution to empower him to be a dictator to enact his dangerous Project 2025 agenda on America. Donald Trump wants to take America backward, to a politics of hate, chaos, and fear – this November America will unite around Vice President Kamala Harris to stop him.”

Trump is a criminal who wants to end democracy. There is no debating. Donald Trump isn’t hiding it. He’s saying it out loud. The ex-president is promising his supporters that if they show up and vote for him in November, they won’t have to show up and vote anymore.

Trump didn’t say that they wouldn’t have to vote for him. He appears to have meant voting period, as in he will take care of that chore called voting and make sure that we never have to do it again.

The ex-president shows his contempt for democracy by refusing to debate anyone younger than he is, and claiming that elections that he doesn’t win are rigged.

Trump is not only a criminal. He is the enemy of American democracy.

The call organizing white women for the presidential campaign of Kamala Harris has raised $11 million off of a single two hour zoom meeting.

Shannon Watts posted:

NEW: Thursday night’s Zoom gathering of nearly 200,000 women who answered the call to help elect Kamala Harris in 100 days has raised $11 million.

Thank you @WinWithBLKWomen for showing us how it’s done.

Let’s keep it going. Donate here: https://t.co/LdoUkYH3Fj pic.twitter.com/XK3CVVGonC

Watts was also talking about the organizing and fundraising effort on MSNBC’s The Katie Phang Show:

.@shannonrwatts tells Katie Phang about the white women call in support of the Harris campaign, "I woke up to an email this morning saying that we have now raised over $11 million from a two-hour call, which is pretty astronomical." pic.twitter.com/eMkjDDMSTf

— Sarah Reese Jones (@PoliticusSarah) July 27, 2024

The outpouring of immediate support has been impressive and amazing. Trump beat Hillary Clinton among white women 47%-45% in 2016. Trump’s percentage of support among white women grew to 53% in 2020, so this large scale organizing effort to support Harris is bucking a recent trend in American politics.

The thing that Trump and the Republicans have been most worried about is happening. Voters are getting engaged and involved in the election.

Most importantly, voters are finding Vice President Harris to be a candidate that they like, and if the choices are having racist crashed on our national couch for the next four years and going though our wallets as we sleep, or Kamala Harris, it looks like voters are moving quickly toward Harris.

If Trump thought Biden stepping aside would help him in Pennsylvania, he was wrong as Kamala Harris has tied the ex-president in the Keystone State and Gov. Josh Shapiro is wildly popular.

If Trump thought Biden stepping aside would help him in Pennsylvania, he was wrong as Kamala Harris has tied the ex-president in the Keystone State and Gov. Josh Shapiro is wildly popular.

Via: Fox News:

The state of the race is similar to where it was in April, when Biden and Trump were tied 48-48%. The survey, released Friday, shows Harris and Trump locked in a tie at 49-49% — barely different from what the final election results were in 2020 (49.85% Biden vs. 48.69% Trump).

…

The expanded ballot shows Harris with a 2-point edge: 45% Harris, 43% Trump, 7% Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Jill Stein and Cornel West with 1% each. Third parties hurt Trump here as 10% of his two-way supporters go for someone else compared to 7% of Harris’ supporters.

Voters are split on Harris’ favorable rating: 49-49%. Still, views of her are better than Biden (41% favorable, 57% unfavorable) or Trump (46-53%).

…

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, who is widely considered to be on Harris’ shortlist of potential running mates, receives a 61% favorable rating — the highest of any individual tested. His rating has improved by 10 points since July 2022 when he was campaigning for governor.

Shapiro also beats Trump in a head-to-head matchup 54%-44%, and among voters who don’t like either candidate, Kamala Harris leads by 41 points, which is 14 points better than Joe Biden’s performance with this group in Pennsylvania.

There has been a lot of speculation about who Harris should pick as her running mate to balance the ticket. The reality is that picking Mark Kelly, Roy Cooper, or anyone else won’t hand Harris an Electoral College vote rich swing state like picking Josh Shapiro would.

The Trump campaign is worried that Harris will pick Shapiro and shut them out of Pennsylvania. If Pennsylvania is off the table for Trump, the ex-president would have to virtually run the table with the other swing states to win the White House. The Harris team is reportedly done with background checks and has moved into the political vetting part of the process.

The Fox News poll reveals that Donald Trump was not helped in Pennsylvania by Biden leaving the race, and he could lose the state if Kamala Harris adds Gov. Josh Shapiro to the ticket.

Even the conservative Rupert Murdoch-owned Wall Street Journal released a poll showing that Donald Trump's lead is gone.

Even the conservative Rupert Murdoch-owned Wall Street Journal released a poll showing that Donald Trump’s lead is gone.

The Wall Street Journal reported:

The presidential race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump is essentially tied, according to a new Wall Street Journal poll that shows heightened support for her among nonwhite voters and dramatically increased enthusiasm about the campaign among Democrats.

The former president leads the current vice president 49% to 47% in a two-person matchup, but that is within the margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points. Trump held a six-point lead earlier this month over President Biden, before he exited the race and backed Harris.

…

On a ballot test that included Robert F. Kennedy Jr.and other independent and third-party candidates, Harris receives 45% and Trump gets 44%. Kennedy is backed by just 4% and 5% remain undecided. Biden trailed in the multicandidate contest by six points in the last poll.

Trump has to hope that Harris’ momentum stops at its current point, or else he could see his hopes of returning to the White House swept away. Harris hasn’t chosen her running mate yet, which could result in another bounce, depending on who she chooses. The Vice President hasn’t had her convention yet, which will provide her with the biggest audience to this point of the campaign.

The ex-president is trying to back out of debating Harris, but that stance could change if she takes the lead in the polls. Trump has not had any momentum during the 2024 campaign. His lead came from Democrats abandoning Biden after the current president’s debate performance. Kamala Harris is bringing those Democrats back home, and there is more room for her support to grow, which can’t be said for Trump.

Forget what you thought you knew a week ago. This is a whole new election, and Kamala Harris has the energy and enthusiasm to potentially defeat Trump.
