Beautiful in all its subtle shades, white is the most popular of bridal colours. The colour most representative of purity and innocence, there is a shade of white to suit everyone.

Combine with any colour that takes your fancy.

-       With other shades of white, cream and ivory

-       With brights

-       With pastels

-       With dark colours

-       With metallic colours

-       With black

-       With naturals

-       One other colour and white is a tried and true but simple colour scheme.

-       Try, for example, yellow and white. Mix and match patterns in fabrics – stripes, polka dots or checks to add interest and liveliness to the scheme. Mix up textures  – some heavier fabrics, some lighter fabrics, some shiny fabrics. Accessorise in yellow and white only – keep other colours to a minimum in foliage, container colours, crockery. Have fun with patterned crockery, quirky accessories and coloured favours

-       In a colour scheme featuring the shades of white from cream to snow white, think texture, texture, texture in fabrics and accessories – shiny, lustrous, matt, velvety -  and interest with different shaped containers, mixed plain and ornate dinnerware, glassware and elegant flatware – create ‘mini scenes’ on your tables with your all white centrepieces

-       Perhaps a beautiful view of the sea, or a garden at your reception venue will add just the right touch to lift your scheme from beautiful to extraordinary

-       Pearls – freshwater, cultured, pearlised finishes, pearl shells, capiz shell

-       Think of the discipline of an all white room and use this for inspiration for an all white reception colour scheme

-       White with a metallic such as copper adds a touch of difference. Shades of white from cream to ivory with old copper vessels, white flowers, white tableware, laser cut copper screens. Copper wire baskets used as wall decoration, or as flower or food holders – imagine a table laden with French pastries set out on copper wire baskets, copper chandeliers with white candles, to add lustre, creamy capiz shell strands decorating candlesticks, floral arrangements, chandeliers, capiz shell napkin rings or dishes

-       Pewter and stark white or ivory – think pewter hued pearls, the neutral sparkle of clear crystals and beading, old pewter tankards grouped on tables and filled to the brim with white ranunculus, roses, wisteria, wind flowers, jasmine, pewter candlesticks, pewter stemmed glassware, pewter dinnerware – mix old and new pewter – the old pewter has a wonderful deep grey appearance and the new pewter has a shinier muted silver appearance

-       White can be starkly modern, or soft and feminine, depending on the flowers, accessories, venue and complementary colours you choose
